Betty have you noticed a change in your vision? Dry, itchy skin, fatigue, or a headache?
Love the pictures of the boat, *sigh* Dad sold Mom's boat because Sue (Step-Mom)wanted a pontoon, LOL Mom always called them old fart boats because they didn't make waves that she could jump with the jet ski.
I've fallen in love with the puppy who fell asleep in the food bowl, so far I'm having no luck getting the DH equally in love with the idea of a big white furball in the house. Zapita won't even discuss it. I think I'm out voted...
Best/Worse/What did I learn today! Part 11
Mom and I are going to the MAGTAG tomato tasting in Baltimore - sorta of a Mid-Atlantic get together mostly from Tomatoville and some from DG. Who knows what else we will get up to. Being together works for us - don't have to do much. Oh, we are going to the new Penzey's spice store about 30 minutes south of here in Rockville. Cooking, eating, shopping - what could be better?
Betty just reading what you do in one day wears me out. I am wiped from the market today - it was pretty hot and humid out there.
Tangiegirl - you shouldn't leave your car doors unlocked :))
I have a cute new planter that DH built for me - need to find just the right plants. I did look around a bit today when I was in town, but nothing jumped into my basket (very unusual, I might add). I'll take a pic of the planter tomorrow.
Jan, that Meeks is precious beyond words . . . how I would love to cuddle up!!! And oh my, what gorgeous baskets!!! Did I read that right - $12.00 for all???!!! Those are minimum $40.00 baskets out here.
Seedtosser, you offered the "recipe" to those baby shower cakes - yes, please, I would love to have them!
Had breakfast this morning with one of my long-time friends (since 8th grade), then spent the afternoon with my mom and a wee bit with my dad. I didn't sleep well last night so suspect I will conk out early tonight! Glad to see so much chatter here - I love it!
It's a 'sunshine' morning this a.m. - already out watered plants, trying to keep quiet while tryine to be noisy so DS and grandsons can get up and at it as well, lol, they are taking the Foxy Lady for the day, off to places unknown..just kidding! The winds are down, high temps, perfect day for boating...
Have a million things to do before DG - Gillian arrives with family early this aft..just so excited...
One always fret about wether or not you have enough in common with others to keep the conversation going...but, I usually do very well, so not to fret....
Dizzy again this morning, don't worry, I'm going to slow down today and REST...have had a few headaches as well lately buy it's primarily due to low ceiling effects-weather plays a big part..but a call to the doctor tomorrow is 1st on my list...
Have yourselves a wonderful day and I will drop in from time to time..
Yes, Betty. Today's the day. SO glad you have a beautiful day in store for you. Rainy and thundering here. Wish it would have waited 'til tomorrow but if you and Gillibean have good weather, I'll gladly take this hit of thunder and storms for you.
Glad to hear you are still prioritizing that Dr visit at the top of your Monday list. It's important. I know what you mean about the barometric pressure re headaches....I'm better than the weather forecasters....can feel a change coming before their highly sensitive doo-dads and multi million dollar radar equipment can register it.
Morning, Carole. Hope you slept well last night? Meeks is the original snuggle bug and would be happy to cuddle with you as long as you'd let him. Don't know what I'd do without him, without any of them for that matter. They add so much to my day to day life. Silly little Merry's only been here 8 weeks now but I can't really remember being without her? I hope you will have a good day today. You are on my mind a lot. And yes, $12.00 for all.
Bluekat...have a great time in Baltimore. Tomatoes...Yum! Is that today?
araness, was looking at some of your tomatoes last night.....y'all sure do grow em big in Texas!
LOL...car doors, yes, I must remember that in the future :o)
Hope Judy is having a good weekend, I miss her.
Looks like a lost day here, should have gotten out in the veggies yesterday......oh, well...time enough to pick before work tomorrow and then I think I'll stop at the grower's place after work and pick up some starts for fall.....as usual, I'm too lazy and far too impatient to start them from seed.
No hummers or butterflies to share my morning coffee and pretty quiet on Dave's so I think I'll run a fresh pot of coffee and curl up on the couch for awhile with "The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio".
ttys
Here is one reason I call Merry silly...you may be able to tell by the flying ears and hair that she just finished an ecstatic roll and backscratch, complete with silly little moans and groans of pleasure, in the clover pasture. She's forever stalking and pouncing on moths and butterflies. She is quick, but they are quicker....so far.
Love you all.......Laura...feel better. We miss you.
morning all,
jan,
oh my i cannot believe the tomatoes thats incredible, lol its funny what can sneak in the back seat i seem to have the same problem at hd
those hanging baskets are so nice i like all those colors oh meek is a cutie, your lucky merry chases moths mine still goes after bees, this is the nutty one who took on a yellowjacket and got stung on the foot and it swelled up like a baseball and pounced on a skunk and got sprayed in the face he keeps me always on my toes lol
bluekat
how nice to have your mom out i hope you have a great time togeather
wonder, sorry your feeling bad hope your back soon
betty, gald hd finally came through how did you do at costco you look like you had a good time on the boat, well are you getting excited for your visit how neat!! i bet your watching the clock, betty please rest till you get to the doctor will be thinking of you
best;had a nice visit with my cousin sent him home with three boxes of peaches
worst: medicine made dh crabby so kept my distance
learned: gardners weekwacked the other pool hose, pin hole leak there goes another trip to get more hose to fix it
everyone have a wonderful day liz
That is a happy looking puppy! Scratch Ms. Merry for me. The tomato event is not until 8/25 which is good cause mine are still green! Rained last night here also, we needed it so badly.
Laura - feel better soon, we miss you.
Best: Healthy and happy family and friends (including DG) who care about me.
Worst: well, maybe the humidity
Learned: I need to be more patient with myself and others.
Liz...are you sure those darn gardeners aren't actually aiming for your pool hoses? Seems like it, lol. Lucky cousin! Yum. Peaches. Just looked at a list (hand written on torn cardboard, but it works!) at one of the mennonite orchards near us, yesterday. They have all their varieties listed and when they expect to harvest them. I'm ripening what I got yesterday, don't remember the variety. Up here, the best ones come a bit later, but these will do for a pie.
LOL on the skunk. We had one get a little too comfy around the yard earlier this spring. It got the dobe twice in one week and Meeka once. H was grumbling about taking it out with the shotgun but about two weeks later I saw one that was road kill a few blocks away from the house and we've not seen or smelled our's since. I think it was the same one.
Poor bee stung puppy. I had a dobie girl, years ago in Florida, that got stung on the nose. Instant geisha dog....her poor face swelled so her eyes were just tiny little slits. Full recovery, gladly. Also, we used to joke about our shepherd, Chance. He played
with bees all of his life. We had a cocker and a yorkie (all three now at the bridge, waiting for me) when he joined the family. The other dogs wouldn't condescend to playing with a large gawky GS boy and he quickly found the cats weren't an option, either, so his only friends were the bees. Oddly, he never got stung. He was, hands down, the smartest (and the "sheddingest") dog I've ever lived with.
This is "The President" First of the newly transplanted clems to bloom. Just put him in last month, so he looks to be a healthy and vigorous guy.

Hello there, Gillian called and said they'd be here around 3:00-4:00 pm so that leaves me most of the afternoon resting..making a few salads but taking my doing doing them...everything else is okay..might go wash the new front window, have no idea how it could get so dirty in just a month...trying to figure out an easy way...always has to be an easier way - right?
Did my groceries this morning..p.u. steak..hard to mess that up..fresh Ontario corn/carrots/ - for desert, another thing I can't go wrong on is Strawberry shortcake..for the rest, bake potatoes, and then I'll just wing it...
Jeff is out boating with Braedon and Caleb..said he might bring the boys back for a few hours later today as a friend might join him for a few hours boating..a friend? Nothing serious...he'll be a handsome bachelor for the rest of his days..so he says... soooo was trying to recall the ages of Gillian's children..know one isn't 1 year old yet and the other two I believe just started school...all and all, should be a lovely evening...
Talk later
Tangie, just love 'Merry'..adorable..don't you just want to cuddle up to her?
Liz..do you have peach trees..how marvellous it would be just to walk out and grab a fruit..lucky cousin...do you do them down?
Bluekat...do you enter your tomatoes into a competition?
Just filling in the day, hey you gals/guys it's not easy just sitting and resting..almost an impossibility for me....sooo off again...talk later
Great, Betty. Only a couple of hours now. You are going to have such a good time.
bbl...the sun just peeked out between storms and I don't want to miss this little respite from them. Stuck in the house all day, so far......
Crap guys I can not and will not catch up. I want to welcome Dyson though. Merciful Jesus, we can talk here. lol Greg is good, he is being spoiled by his woman.
Liz, how precious is that dove!!!!!
Tangie, I slept 10 hours last night and might nap this afternoon (I've been fighting a cold/cough for over two weeks and at the moment it is in control . . . doggone it anyway!).
Dawn, I hope Greg knows how lucky he is!!! BTW, I still don't know what the surgery was all about - you may have posted it somewhere, but I didn't see it.
Betty, I know we are all incredibly eager for photos and a report of the DG visit!!!!
OMG your own peach tree? *drool* Ok I'm movin in with Liz...
I am going to pinch someones fat little cheeks because that dang dove is so freaking adorable. did you have it on a far zoom lens or did it just let you go stand and take it`s picture? Aunt B I loved your pictures BTW.
Murmur he just has carpel/radial tunnel surgury as I had in October, but he works in a Mine and uses impact wrenches and stuff that is very heavy and he was in pain and dropping everything, so he decided to fix it during the hot months. lol
He is so enjoying this break from working in pain. he loves that i have been slaving over him and waking up with my timer the first night to give him his pills in the night. i still do in the day though, even though he can do it, he feels spoiled and I haven`t left him so he`s all lovey dovey. (mind out of the gutter girls, he`s too medicated).
come on down araness lol
the persimmion tree is just as bad at least that wont be ready for a while
hellenz, she's pretty neat no i got on a chair in frount of her she dosnt flinch a feather i always talk real soft near her she does not seem to be bothered by our comings and goings, good for you to spoil him im sure he's loving every minute of it
Hello DG Friends!
I am back. It's been a long week without a PC! LOL! the lake was beautiful; weather could have been better ALL week, not just the last two days. All in all, it was wonderful to get away and try to veg!
The week did have some ups and downs. Taking a 4 month old puppy on a vacation is not a vacation! Well, it was for the kids!!! Regreted doing that within 24 hrs of arriving. He was quite funny to watch as he swam around in his orange life preserver! He also learned that if you're on the boat in the middle of the lake and have to pee, all you need to do is get in the water. He would start racing around the boat, up on every seat; even almost went over the back while we were running. So just popped that perserver on, tied a rope to hit and threw him in (not literally!). We figured once he hit the water, it all came naturally from there! We'd let him swim around a bit then haul him in. We should have attached him to the end of a fishing rod and taken a picture of "our catch"! Anyway, he was a hand full, but entertaining too!
In addition to the puppy, we had our two kids and my niece whose a year older then our daughter. Everyone got a long great and my niece is very entertaining too!
So I will post my best/worst for the week now:
Best: just getting away!
Worst: not the puppy. On Wed I got a call from my boss. (I am his admin). He's leaving the company and needed to inform me of this change. Why? Because it means after 8/20, I no longer have a job*! I use the * because on 8/20, I go into a 2 month "hiatus" where the company helps me find another job - whether with them or outside. They will also help me spruce up my resume. During this two month, I really don't have to go in to work!! YEAH! If during that 2 month period I don't find anything, I will get a very generous severence pkg. So I'll go back tomorrow and start calling all my internal contacts and letting them know I am available. This all sounds kind of depressing but I am actually very happy this has happened. You see, my previous boss left the company back at the end of April. I had been with him for 3 years. We had built a great rapport and had a lot of fun working together. After he left, I was ready for a change and this is it. My DH is a little antsy but I know everything will work out. What I would LOVE to do is get a full time job at this nursery around the corner from me but I know I'd never come close to the salary I'm getting. I think I'm going to swing up there and talk to the mgr anyway. I know him from shopping there and maybe with my MG experience plus the classes I'm taking now plus the passion I have for gardening, he'll surprise me.
What I learned: Think twice before taking a puppy on vacation with you!
Hey, if any of you would like to see my vacation photos, d-mail me with your email addy and I'll send you the link to the Kodak album.
Y'all have a great night!! It's good to be back!
GG
