Awwwwww....beautiful, Judy. How creative!!!! never even thought of it.
thanks for all these ideas, am sure everybody else loves them, too.

Judy...they are both adorable...I think my favorite is the second. I love it!

Enjoyed the story/parable, Betty. Nice find.

Today.

Best? We just had a fifteen minute sun shower. Twofold happiness. I can skip the evening watering and they are rare in my area and never fail to make me smile...they remind me of home, where they are a very common occurrence.

Worst? Head/neck ache again today, but spent a little time in the Jacuzzi with the strongest jet on my neck and shoulders and feel better for the first time in days. Sniffles seem to have gone away, too. Probably right, Betty…allergies of some sort.

Learned? Hmm…not sure yet. Check in later maybe?

Closing with a pic or three from today.

My first sunflowers have made their appearance. I like sunflowers. And since Betty always likes details.... That big “white” (and I use the term loosely :-) thing in the background is the barn. That strangely shaped dirt thing in right bottom corner is the new wildflower (mix of shade lovers) seed bed. Be interesting to see what comes up.

K...butterflies were having a tea party this afternoon. One attendee was very brave (or very thirsty) to let me get this close. If anyone knows butterflies...I know none, so id's are always solicited.

a volunteer hibiscus (hardy hibiscus aka rose of sharon). I must move some of these....the lighter blue BB has completely eaten these and a pretty white flowered sport, too.

You guys are just tooo cute! Left the office exactly 4:45pm..a young man and lady were in the elevator and then Suzanne and I and the young man said to her, 'you look so pretty' she blushed, I said now now no making out in the elevator, besides, you've hurt my feelings, am I not beautiful as well? They both got off on main floor laughing....why not...Just got in, highway was closed near Barrie, had to take an alterntive..so made the drive almost 1 hour longer...but, many are fighting for their lives and 1 gentleman (41) from nearby town is dead..actually lives in Hillsdale, same town as my brother...so, what's an hour..my SIL drove my car to the city, she doesn't like my driving (I guess) and there were two young men (early 20's) having a time with their music as loud as can be, we were directly beside each other, dead stopped, so thought I'd make light of the situation, I'll talk to anyone, so as their music got louder so did my country and western music, finally told them they need not bother to get louder because I had woofers in the car and could drown out their music if I so desired......they just shook their head...told them I'd like to drag but police took my license..am sure they'll go home and tell the folks they were talking to some 'nutty lady!' on the highway... telephone was ringing as I came in, girlfriend is up at cottage for the week and wanted to join us for t.v. 'bingo'..let's hope we're lucky..could use vacation $$$$ lol...so I'm off to get comfy clothes on and try my luck at gambling...

will do my best/worse and what I learnt before bedtime...and say hi to each and everyone of you!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well everyone is quiet tonight, I'm off to bed so I thought I'd take a few minutes to post...

Best thing...had a wonderful talk with Judy - Seedtosser 1...lovely,lovely lady...very exciting for me to finally hear her voice...always wanted a daughter...maybe I can adopt her - right Judy? lol..all kidding aside, it was nice talking with you!

Worse thing..of course the accident today...I feel for the family of th 41 year old gentleman from neighboring community who died...dread hearing his name when it's released by the OPP! When communities are small you are bound to either know them or know of them...others are in critical condition and airlifted to city hospitals..I believe a tractor trailer/car/van were all involved......happened around 10:30 am and as of 8pm roads were still blocked...multi accident crash...said speeding wasn't a factor but agressive driving was!

What did I learn today?...that I am anxious for my holidays...I really do feel like I need a rest...I would hate to take a bet on the resting part though..

Well it's that time..

Sweet dreams to all..you as well Herbie...

Sorry, it's been a while since I posted. We were on vacation last week at Gulf
Shores, Alabama. Godd thing about taking a vacation close to home is that it only takes 2 hours to get home. I told Betty about this hometown restaurant we visited. They actually throw rolls at you. Visit the link
www.throwedrolls.com
We had a great time, and the food was very good.

My trip to see my soldier in Kentucky has been changed just a bit. He left today to go ????????? He said he didn't know where he was going or when he would be back. Last year, he spent 5 months in Afghanistan, and I could only contact him thru email. No phone calls! No mail or packages! It was so hard! He is a Special Operations helicopter mechanic stationed at Ft. Campbell and he was told at 11:30 this morning to get packed and ready to leave by 6:00 P.M. He called me at 4:00 to let me know he was leaving. His girlfriend is so upset. He couldn't even leave base to see her before he left. So, I am going to Kentucky this weekend to spend a couple of days with her. We haven't met yet, so this will give us a chance to know one another. We already have one thing in common- we both love Colt.

I'm going to do a bit of re-decorating tomorrow. I got this whim to decorate my living room with birdhouses. I ordered a birdhouse screen for my fireplace and birdhouse curtains. I have a couple of whimsy little birdhouses to hang up, but I plan to collect more. I'll post some pics when I get the screen and curtains done.

Well, my good thing today was having a day to myself.
Bad thing was having Colt leave.
What I learned- in the words of the song-
"Don't worry about the future, or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra
equation by chewing bubblegum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind: the kind that blindsides
you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday. "
Mine blindsided me today at 4:00 PM; I never expected Colt to call me to say he was leaving.
Please pray for our troops everywhere. Those overseas are far from home, but defending our freedom. Those here are defending our freedom. Pray for and love them all.
love, julie

had no electricity for awhile today, and nearly panicked when I thought I was not going to be able to read your posts tonite.
sure am glad that's over.

tropicana, where are you...I need a smile....

best, lots of good things, more mulch spread for the fall....another bookcase painted, washer and dryer will be installed tomorrow, and I saw a friend of my husband's today, talked with him and did not fall apart....so things are "feeling" better.
worst....no worst today, it was a good day.
Learned.......I am going to have to have another yard sale, and soon.....
Have a good night, sleep well, and watch for a great tomorrow,
sharon

best:finished a couple leaves when i got home

learned :one of the nice girls i work with, her dad is a police officer in the city i live i read about a robbery last week being gang related and the victim was shot and killed. turned out to be her father who killed him. they had a meeting with her last night to be careful on retaliation and to watch no one is following her sounds scarry to me everyone have a wonderful evening liz

Too many things for me to try to remember and comment on! Great parables, sad stories, things to make me laugh.

My daughter is having a girl on August 23rd, and my granddaughter is expecting a boy around Halloween. I am going to have to try those diaper cakes - darling idea!

Deb's wedding cake is unbelievable - don't think I'd have the courage to try one of those!

One of these days . . . yes, one of these days, I want to try to make those leaves!

For today:

Worst thing: I got impatient with my mother

Best thing: She won't remember.

What I learned: When I get lost trying to take her to the doctor and she keeps talking talking talking (with nothing making much sense), I am not the good daughter I want to be. Sigh . . . but she thinks we had a wonderful time and I will quite likely be the epitome of patience and love when I see her next on Saturday!

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

judy - that is a wonderful idea. we hope to be able to make one REAL SOON. LOL

worse thng. wife conned me into driving into conn. to go shopping at stew leonards which is a giant grocery store.

best thing - they were selling porta bella mushrooms at greatly reduced rates cuasethey were close to expiration i guess. got two giant bags filled with about 15 mushrooms and 20 stems for $4.00. cookedthem up real quick and will use for my soups. deb is gonna stuff a few for dinner tomorrow.

have a great day everyone

nooooo, cant share tangie sorry, she's mine!!!! *throwing myself on the ground ranting*

well, sniff...snifff... ok just a little.... ok, ok, I'll share betty too, oh.............alright I''ll share everyone!!!

love the pics.....

yeah work can kiss my.......................... well you get the picture and they better have a big ol set of lips on em to do it too! waaaaaaaaahahahahahah

been too tired to paint this week. i have good days and bad ones..... as far as being energetic goes but i still force myself to go for a walk each day. another .3 of a kilo = 300grms = 3oz (i think) and i have lost 30kgs!! (times that by 2.2 for LBS).

cant see where its gone from but feel better for it and still a LOOOOOONG way to go.

nite nite

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

LOL Laura, dearest wonder. I will always be yours...love shared is, after all, love multiplied. Plenty of room for all in both my heart and my home. No notice required....just show up and stay as long as you'd like. Must like hugs and dogs...no other rules apply! BTW 2.2 lbs x 2 = 4.4 x 2 = 8.8! One step, then another…I think 2.2 is a fabulous accomplishment! Proud as I can be for you. Energy comes and goes here, too. Think that’s “normal” (no normal people here, though….you are all too special for that word to apply in the accepted sense) for all.

Shar…glad you got your power back…and very nice….a new washer and dryer. Wonderful! Glad you got past the “talking” to step. That’s a pretty big one. Be proud.

See Frank, even DW's “bad” ideas always turn out to be good for you…as are porta bellas.

Carole…that’s right! You’re adding two bundles of joy this season…better start practicing those cakes! Don’t beat yourself up too much over your lack of patience with your mom. I used to work with the geriatric population daily and the Alzheimer patients were my favorites….for the very reason you stated. I remember having a lovely conversation with a darling little woman. Perfectly normal until she said “Well, it’s been nice chatting but I really have to go now….I’m meeting some friends for lunch and shopping at Boscovs (department store) now”. Of course, she had been bedridden and in a long term care facility for years and was going nowhere. But she was so happy, at that moment, to be having a “girl’s day out”. And the next moment had forgotten about it of course, so couldn’t be sad it wasn’t really happening. Also remember a very tall and distinguished gentleman named Ross who was forever trying to sneak onto the elevator and going out to the store for a pack of smokes. The staff would round him back up when he reached the lobby and he was perfectly happy with the explanation of “Ross, it is Sunday. Afraid the little store is closed…we’ll go tomorrow, okay?” It worked every time. But what I wanted to tell you is that my mom died when I was in my late teens of MS w/dementia and she would repeat herself over and over again that long, final year. As hard as I tried, there would come a point where it would be so frustrating, harsh words would spill from me before I could stop them. It’s much, much easier to see the humor and keep your temper when they are not your family or loved one. Fortunately, like yours, my mother would forget those words as quickly as I said them. But I can still feel badly about my failing, if I allow myself to, and it’s to no avail, nothing to be gained by it, so I try not to go there in my head too often.

Betty…how did the TV bingo go? And you’re right. The fact that someone wasn’t going home last night, or ever, really puts that extra hour for you to get home into it’s proper perspective, doesn’t it? So glad you and Judy got to chat. You are our rock, my dear. Don’t know what we’d do without you. So, when is the vacation/holiday time coming up?

Hi, Liz. Nope....nothing special-special, just a nice day puttering. Your leaves came out great. Wish I had .01% of your creativity and talent. I would be a happy camper. So sad about your coworker’s dad and now this added burden to take care…very troubling.

Wholesale is great, isn’t it? A good friend works for a distributor in your industry here in PA and we raid one another’s samples regularly. She used to haul me around to the shows with her occasionally as a hair model but have rarely found the time to do so lately (Note to all……this is not nearly as impressive as it may sound ….beauty and great hair definitely not required as they want to show how much improved the “after” version is).

As usual…once I get started these posts always turn into novellas, at the very least and so I’ve probably cross-posted with one or more, yet again.

Jan

Just did it again, so do wish when you want to make comment in your post re photo's etc that your entire post didn't disappear...you would think I'd learn...now I'll have to retype the novel I was writting...been taking lessons from Jan, lol...

Good Day to All,

Thank you!! Betty, you my friend, have made my night and Days to come.
I very much enjoyed our chat. You are as beautiful as I imagined when i first D-mailed you. We, all of us are so lucky to have you in our lives. (Yep we have to share kids)LOL and yes, consider me adopted. When I am riled up, I will think of your ever so gentle soothing voice always giving me encouragement.

Ok-So I am now finished with my outrageous project so hopefully i can get some time in here to re-read and while I apologize to not reply to all, I just want to say thank you all with all my heart, for your encouragement. You are the best!

I'll be back in a bit-Darn work, called to a meeting.
P.S. Hope you are all having a Wonderful Day!

Julie, must be so very difficult for you and yours to have Colt away from you and not know excactly where he is...from this Canadian lady, please know that I have no doubt that the freedom I experience here is due in great part for the brave men and women of your country!

Now I cannot wait Julie to see what you come up with for your birdhouse theme..maybe I'll have to add to it with something folk/artsy? What do you think? Oh what fun that restaurant must have been..when I was in Texas some years ago we stopped at a restaurant that I'm sure almost had a line up a mile long..they fed you ribs on wax paper and no forks/knives..was a lot of fun..sure wish I had marked the name down...

Liz, that would be cause for concern wouldn't it...hope she and her dad aren't in any physical danger..we'll pray for them! Love the leaves..I don't color mine as they simply are used for walking stones..yours are so attractive..guess you got mixture down patt....
better send this post off and continue before I loose it again!

Shar..knitting/knitting but still not sure of length..d-mailed you...will wait for your response...wish I was there for the yard sale...

Darius, haven't seen you post of late, sure hope you are feeling ok...will have to send you a note..concerned about how you are farring....

Judy...so glad to see your post. Our Betty is a treasure, no doubt.

And please don't ever worry about not replying to my prolific ramblings........ just to know you are here is enough for me.

Hope the meeting is productive (or at least amusing), that quitting time arrives swiftly, that you arrive home safe and sound and enjoy a wonderful, calm and pleasurable evening.

Any plans for the night? I'm planning to indulge in a bubbly bath, climb into some jammies, putter about the yard and then lounge on the couch to rewatch a movie I tivoed and watched last weekend. I enjoyed it so much the first time, I've decided to see it again before I delete it for more room. "The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio" with Woody Harrelson, Julianna Moore and Laura Dern? It's based on a true story from a book written by one of the daughters of "the prizewinner". I plan to check out the book on my next trip to the library later this week.

bbl to chat with all....Jan

Carole, what a difficult situation, hard on the nerves I'm sure! You are probably are feeling more guilty than you should..just remember a lot of people don't even visit their parents, they have abandoned them.. as they feel they no longer know who they are so why bother....you are a trooper...you still treat her with dignity! My grandmother had no short term memory ..my day to visit her was Sat. - each and every Sat. she'd say 'well Betty, how did you know I was here' I'd reply and she was so pleased of my visit...then I could walk out the door and back in and she'd ask the same question... but oh how I loved her and miss her! Ah, and 2 babies on their way...now that's cause for excitement!

Frank...and you are a 'cook' as well as running a harem...can't imagine how tired you must be...hmmm

Jan, I start my vacation August 3rd for 10 days..had thought about going away for part of it..now the girls that paint at my home and some friends thought it would be nice to plan a b.b.q. day on the Wednesday...oooops, that kind of breaks my week in half, so not sure what I'll do, might tell them they have to change it .. but..Greg says the "Foxy Lady" should be in the water by the weekend so perhaps it could be a few days in Georgian Bay..just don't know..vacation funds were picked in when doing house renovations and bought the car...can't have everything..but we'll see...

Judy, you are much to kind..it was my pleasure...

Well, boss just asked me to run to the bank for him, so I'm off to the races..lol...will post this evening...

Hope your day is full of 'sunshine'

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

y'all, Thanks so much for the well wishes for my kitty. She's on my lap now being all sweet. With everyone being so busy I really appreciate the time.

Awhile back, a couple of y'all posted satellite maps where you could see your house...what sites were those? I tried to find the thread but couldn't.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think this was one of the sites...now I never did get close enough on any of the sites to see actual homes, but then that could be me, not tooo computer literate...

http://www.terraserver.com/

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Thanks, Betty, that's one of the better ones for sure, was hoping I could find a live one...probably only if you're in the CIA or something would you have access to that..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are toooo funny..will look for others, know the ones the girls posted, I went on sight but as it was zooming closer it said it could not give me a closer view...wouldn't it be neat though to see each other's home, gardens etc. oh, Trop..just got to win that big lottery so we can all take a real tour rather than computer visual...prayers kindly accepted in hopes of that dream coming true....right!!!!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh, let's not talk about it...lol...my imagination would take us to some pretty wild destinations if cash were not an issue! You got my thought exactly, I was thinking (mistake #1) that if I could find a live satellite service, we seriously could take turns like, "Hey, I'm online, go outside and wave!"

I'm going back thru old threads-anyone else do that? Quite interesting.

I haven't worn a skirt in awhile......hmmm.....how about you guys? Feelin' ok about yourself? If not, I am announcing the skirt comeback! lol

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

That tour? Count me in. Doesn't matter when. I'm in.

Trop....So glad kitty is back to being a purr machine. I still miss my heart cat, Little. It's been years since she went to the bridge as an old lady of fifteen. She was the most devoted little creature one could ever imagine and her preference was to ALWAYS be with me. Not entirely catlike and even after all this time, I am not ready for another. Not sure I ever will be.

Oh, Betty.....ten days....nice!

Off for a bit...back to chat in a bit.

Typos! *Stern note to self...Preview, preview, preview*

It would be fun.....and the mind drifts to faraway locations.....with hot guys with accents.....lol. See what I mean, this goes on all the time in my mind.

tangie and everyone, really thanks, it is nice to have Alice Cooper better. She even fussed at me already.

Glenview, IL

Hi again-just a quickie before I go home-
Thanks Tangi, i sure hope you enjoy a relaxing evening you have planned.
Me-I am going to have a fire and my usual pull some more weeds(LOL it never ends)

Oh Tropi, I was thinking of you and your skirts, one day decided to wear a sundress-wow couldn't believe the compliments- hahha, some didn't even know I had legs. So go and get adorable.

Shar-Oh you have done just a beautiful job on the chair. How esquisit (sp) it turned out. The swans in the gold outline really makes it!

Liz-I forgot to mention, Love your leaves! They turned out great and the colors are awsom.

Carole, Wow-2! how incredibly wonderful. I'll be glad to help with the cakes want me to send recipe? Believe it or not the whole thing is held together with various sized rubberbands! I'm so happy for you.

Well gosh, I have got to run, already late getting home but will enjoy the ride.
Geeze, I am going to see if i can't speed up getting home computer fixed or new, tomorrow is a long way away. And...Tour?? I seemed to have missed something, scratching my head here-If it is off to neverland count me in!

Hope you all have a grand evening, talk to you tomorrow.
Judy

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

Shar...back to say...the chair. GORGEOUS!!! And didn't you just pick that up this last weekend? Amazing.

Judy? Tour...Betty.....five posts up from this one (unless I've crossposted w/someone else again) It's just one short sentence, but *road trip* possibilities always catch my attention. I've organized a few and now have great memories and good friends to show for each of them. One of the most memorable was organizing a group of online friends (from a music forum) to meet for a concert in NYC two summers ago. We did it in three weeks, from the inception of the idea, casually mentioned in a chat to the trip itself. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Many of the girls worked extra shifts at their jobs to save enough money to travel on such short notice, though we organized carpooling, too. Two families joined us as well, both using their yearly vacation time to do so. Many of the girls had never been "on their own", stayed in a hotel, or gone anywhere without their husbands, much less the "big city". I'll stop myself now...I've already taken enough space up on this thread and poor Betty just started it!

Hmm... and yes, I agree, move that computer repair as far up the priority list as possible. Evenings and weekends without Judy? Not good.

Trop...aw'right! Now you know she's really back! Flirty skirts and sundresses (btw...you can bet you deserved every one of those compliments and more, Judy) are good for a girl's soul and one more reason to love summer days)

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

the most amazing thing happened to day, can hardly believe it.....
early this morning I took pictures of the rocker (posted above) and loaded them from my camera onto the computer. Soon as that was finished, I got a call from the delivery guy and he said the washer/dryer would be delivered in about 20 minutes. So I finished with the camera, left it laying beside the computer which is located beside the door that the guys would bring the appliances in.
the main guy came to the door, introduced himself, etc .....pulled out the old appliances, etc again....and when finished the second guy came in and hauled out the dolly thing and picked up any miscellaneous stuff to clean the place up, then he left. I was still with the main guy as I signed the papers. All went well.
checked out the appliances, went to get a load of laundry, then came back to the computer to finish working on computer. CAMERA GONE!!!!! Looked all over this room, looked alll over this house.....NO CAMERA!!! finally, called sears and explained to some head of something that when the delivery guys left my camera left with them.
the man told me that their deliveries were contracted out, and that he could contact the contractor.....OK I said.......and I decided to give them till 4 before I called the police.
at about 3:55 the head guy from the delivery company called...I explained to him what happened, and he said he would get back to me by noon tomorrow..
at about 5, someone knocked on my door...it was the main guy from the delivery team this morning, and in his hand he had my camera.
The head guy from the delivery company had called him, told him my story, so this young man went to the home of the second man and confronted him. Said both their jobs were on the line, and so the second man got up and got the camera and gave it to him. He brought it back to me, scared to death he was.
I am just glad to get the camera back. Talked with the company president while the little guy was here...the one who brought back the camera......told him I would leave punishment up to him, and wanted a follow up.
so....that is my convoluted story...sure hope you can follow it. the camera was the last gift Bob ever gave me, so it was really special. it came back to me purged of any pictures, but luckily I had loaded everything on to the computer this morning.......
all's well that ends well, I guess.....just watch out for delivery guys......
still a bit panicky about the entire thing.
also glad it is all over.

OMGosh Shar...how very scary and yet so uplifting at the same time? (and isn't that an odd thought?) Thank goodness it was only theft on his mind and not something more sinister.

We were just discussing this very thing last week, on another site I frequent. Allowing *strangers* (such as delivery or repair people) into our homes. It was pretty evenly divided between those that felt the other half was being too paranoid, and the "paranoid" (or careful) contingent calling the other half naive and too trusting.

For some reason, this story leaves me with a feeling I can't put a name to? Not necessarily bad or good...just vaguely odd? Hmm...have to think on this. I am glad you are safe and snug at home....hope this doesn't disturb your sleep tonite. So did you do the laundry? *grin*

Today.

Best? Tomorrow is my last day at work for the week...off 'til Monday....Yes!

Worst? Really wasn't one.

Learned? Why all of my oriental lilies' lower leaves are becoming sort of a pale yellowish green color. That rotten dobie of mine has been *watering* them for me. I caught him hiking his leg at least four times in the hour we just spent outside watering (I was using the hose :-) I told him I preferred he not do that, rather sternly, and got the sad and remorseful "But Mom....I was only trying to help" look. Of course if you stare at him, say, "Who did that?" and point at , for example, the filing cabinet (which he's never done anything bad to), you get the same look. That's my Barley, not the sharpest tool in the shed by a long shot.

Nighty all...sleep well and Laura, dear...have a perfect day.

Shar, see, St. Anthony patron of lost objects did find it for you....really, am pleased that this treasure is back in your home...Love the chairs..just enough gold...you are keeping it - correct? looks so comfy...

Talking of home, just got in - 2 trips later to Home Depot...can't believe these people...I purchase the gazebo and one panel is wrong, so neighbor returns the panel Monday and they give me another..but when zipped up it's 4" shorter than the set I have on the gazebo..so, tonight I travel into Midland and talk to the girl, she's frustrated because she doesn't want to opent up another box but I kind of pressure her into doing so..at this time she does notice a few of the panels are longer than the others..oh well, she gives me a replacement..take it home put it on and the zipper keep opening up, teeth don't match, soooo bring it back to Midland and temporarily want the panel I brought back- back, it's short but at least it closes...come home, and it's not the one, she gave me wrong one...but, I had little patience with this manager because she said she wouldn't open any more boxes, just call the company and have them look into sending me replacement screens...I say, NO, I bought this on Saturday and I've paid money out to have it put up (didn't tell her it was for ice-cream cones lol) and that I had called the 1-800 # to no avail, so she basically said, oh well, it's a manufacturer problem not Home Depot...excuse me I bought it in good faith...soooo basically she says if I'm not satisfied, then return the entire gazebo..now you guys know my story, it that something I should be doing? My adrenaline is working overtime...AND I spend mega $$$$ at Home Depot stores, in fact I think it's my 2nd home...frustrating to say the least...soooo that's the worse part of my day...

Well one of my worse..darling son came and picked up table/chair set that I bought at a garage sale, put it up on the back deck and I don't like it there, so guess I'll put it in the alcove under the trees...

Can you have 3 bad things? hmmm not tell you my 3rd...not looking forward to returning the solar lights that change color in the pond as they've filled with water and bulbs don't work..have to return them to costco tomorrow...that should be another experience....

What was good today - work kept me pretty busy so the day went fairly quickly...

What did I learn today...that we are one step closer to perhaps moving our office to Barrie...by Monday we should know...prayers that the offer gets accepted would be greatly appreciated...

How's the movie going Tangie?

Tropicanna - need to see photo of you wearing those mini's...

Judy I'll have to look closer to the Queen Anne's lace plant, not sure I noticed as well..most think it is a weed..very pretty though..think around here they call it Wild Carrot..not sure why? Got your d-mail but will reply to it in the morning...

Well, have had enough of this day, I'm tired, frustrated (don't go there) so I'm off to bed...BUT I'll be back to gab tomorrow..

Do hope you have sweet dreams...

Oh Betty, I am sorry you are having such a frustrating day. I think you are too nice to the HD lady (and I use the term loosely)....I would have climbed a tower and opened fire on her by now. I say go higher up tham the store manager. Call and find out the regional manager's name and contact info and get in touch with him/her tomorrow. Be firm. You will get the service you deserve if I have anything to say about it, heck, for that matter, give me the store location and I'll do the research and make the call. This is just not fair, not fair at all. I said I was angry for you before...now I'm fuming!

The movie was great, thanks for asking. Moore's character (the mother) is so inspiring, so very funny and wise.....It takes place in the 50's and 60's and I'm so into nostalgia. I highly recommend it to all but I think we women, here, strong and not so strong alike, would all enjoy it.

What great fun it would be if we could all get together, (bring your jammies!) cover every flat surface in the room with food and drink, find our comfy spots and settle in for a night of chatter and watching everyone's favorite dvd movies. With plenty of breaks (just push pause :-) to wander around outside and watch the fireflies, listen to the night chorus, and perhaps linger to enjoy a particularly fragrant scent before drifting back in again. I can hear us all laughing together now.

Heaven, I tell you, could not be any better than that.

Night again...this time, seriously......hugs.

Just checking in before I go to bed. It sounds like you all have been busy!

We finally got a little rain today; it has been so, so dry here. It was nice gentle rain and just enough that I didn't have to water. I couldn't work in the gardens and didn't feel like housework so I sat on the front porch looking through cookie recipes. Our Friends of the Library group has decided to have a cookie booth at a local festival. We have just finished remodeling an old building adjacent to the existing library. We are planning several fund-raisers throughout the next few months to help raise money to furnish the new addition. I love to bake cookies so I picked out several different kinds so I make sure I have all of the ingredients when it's time to make them.

Another besr part of my day...my poison ivy is gone. Yea!

The worst part? A friend brought me a tangle of five new born kittens all with their cords still attached and tangled together. I've never seen such a mess! It took four of us to hold the babies apart while another tied and cut the cords. The babies were extremely weak since there was no way they could nurse tangled up like they were. We will probably lose one; the cord was wrapped around both back feet and it didn't seem to be able to move them. We did get the babies separated and cleaned up and then returned them to the mother. All but the tiny one started nursing right away. The owner is going to try to bottle feed the tiny one and we'll hope for the best.

Jan, I was interested to see that you have watched "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio" Defiance is about a 20 minute drive from where I live. It is where I go to get the things I need that our little town doesn't have. There's a Lowe's and a Menards, a Wal Mart and KMart and other stores we don't have here. I have never met the author in person but I have heard her speak and there have been many interviews with her on radio and television and in the newspapers. I have not seen the movie but have read the book and enjoyed it very much. Hope you will, too.

Just have to give my dog Katie her thyroid medicine and then I'm off to bed. Good night everyone. Judy

Hi All, still here reading away. Envious of all your projects. Beautiful job on the chair Sharon and I love a happy ending with your camera story. Yikes!

Betty - don't bad things come in threes? That is it you have filled your quota. So there.

Where is Dawn these days?? Just might have to call that woman.

Haven't posted for awhile, lots going on - lots of emotional ups and downs, house stuff, trying not to isolate.

Best: Taking care of myself, one day at a time.

Worst: My friends mom died Tuesday in Miami, she was 67 and was fighting cancer and in the middle of chemo. I can't be there for him.

Learned: Friends and support pop up in the most unexpected places. Thank You!

Murmur, what a great day to have a baby, August 23! My first child was born Aug. 23, 1983. My sister was born Aug. 23, 1961. And she was born on our aunt's birthday, Aug. 23 (not sure of the year). Hope all goes well for your daughter.
Shar, oh! that chair is gorgeous! So glad you got your camera back, too.
I've been very weepy all day. It is so hard not knowing where your child is, but knowing that he is probably in a war zone makes it even worse! I was physically ill today from the crying and stress. I sat with a picture of my dad in my lap and prayed that Daddy would be with Colt and be the guardian angel on Colt's shoulder.
Betty, I'll start posting pics of my re-decorating tomorrow. Got lots of birdhouse things in the mail today, so I can get started.
To all who have offered prayers and encouragement, I love you all!

Did I ever tell you about the love story? I mean my life story. I'll start with a little tonight.
I met Mike when I was 15; he was 14. I truly believe in love at first site because I knew I loved him from the minute I saw him. We dated of and on for a while, but became a couple the next year. I would have gone to the ends of the earth to be with him. My parents tried to separate us, but I defied them. You see, Mike just wasn't as serious about us as I was. And my parents wanted me to go to college and have a career. However, I wanted Mike. We broke up the summer after I graduated from high school, but we couldn't stay away from each other. I became pregnant in November 1982. When I told my parents, they were so supportive. It's a good thing they were because Mike walked out on me. Three years down the drain, college down the drain; I was unwed and pregnant at 18. Mike began dating someone else immediately. it cut like a knife, but what could I do? Anyway, Destiny was born August 23, 1983. Such a beautiful sweet little girl. Anyway, Mike made no appearance at the birth or afterwards. I gave Destiny my maiden name because it just seemed easier that way. I didn't sue for child support because I was determined to make it on my own. And I did- well, I did with the help of my parents, family, and friends! Part 2 tomorrow.
Goodnight, julie
