Hey that Hoodie stuff is a great appetite suppressant and it does work but is a bit expenssive, so you need to go when GNC or one of those has a big sale and get the one that has more Hoodia in it and nothing else but that in it. no stimulants.
my 100 + lb weight loss = my new toy
Thanks Connie, called a girlfriend and my son and his family..his wife is out this evening and appreciated the invite...mostly salads etc. but your thought in providing someone with a meal is wonderful..problem that I have is I work in the city and don't get home until 6:30 so anyone I could give it to probably would have eaten...thanks
Dawn, where did you read about Hoodia..looking over posts, perhaps I didn't go far enough up...
I have two friends who call Hoodia "Poodia"...no further info needed. :-)
No one talked about it here but the first time i tried it, I got the highest miligrams they sold and I felt like the old Phen Phen days, but my friend said it did not work for her as well as someother thing but i swear by it, so does my DH, he just tried it because i got these Hoodia fruit bars from trim spa and he kept saying I am not hungry I don`t know why. I laughed and told him those fruit bars had hoodia, it is an African plant that has no stimulants, that hunters in Africa use to curb hunger while they are in the Bush hunting for months. Look it up on the net.
betty - glad you were able to get rid of the "food"
hoodia has been around for a while now. i think i read where it comes from africa. never tried it and don't know anyone who has taken it for a period of time.
connie - the way to beat the late night munchies is to go to bed earlier. it will work.
to everyone.. no matter how i have tried to work it out i cannot get it so that it comes out in a nice graphic. i think we should just keep our own gain/loss and add to it each week.
here is mine
week number 1 i lost 3 lbs
week number 2 i gained 2 lbs
week number 3 i did not lose or gain
week number 4 i lost 3 lbs
week number 5 i lost 4 lbs
after 8 weeks i have lost 8 pounds
Herbie...I know you are right. DH and I just joined a fitness club and what I would like to do is get up at the crack of dawn, go work out, take a shower there (hey...their soap, shampoo, etc!), then go to work. Get home at a decent hour, and go to bed and read to get sleepy at 9:30.
BUT will it happen? Probably not...I've always been a night owl...it's in my blood! :-)
connie - everyone can change. give it a try for just one week and see if there is a difference. i'm betting you will see a weight loss.
have a great day and good nights sleep. LOL
Well Herbie, I'm on my 3rd day...I've followed this to a 'T'...think I'll get down to my desired weight..just you wait and see
http://www.spiritisup.com/mirrorlookatmeyc.html
Thanks, Herbie!
I'll try it next week. Oh...and I"m going to try the "fruit only in the A.M. thing too...makes sense!
I tried Hoodia for one day...gave me a terrible upset stomach. I won't touch it again.
never gave me anything bad but it is different for everyone I imagine. I have IBS w/constipation though, things that move someone elsees colon won`t touch mine. Hmm, I wish it did.
Frank, Lura and Betty that is so darn great. Franklin will you want a body tuck after all this or are you not that vein?
what you see is what you get. losing the weight is good enough for me. as soon as the doc gives me the o.k. i 'm gonna get on my bike and start riding all over my neighborhood.
betty - very cute.
connie - let me know how you make out.
Good we`l have no false vanity here. We`l save that for the girls of the world.
Frank you are a good mentor
Crap did I say something nice to you?
lol
dawn - i guess once in a while the reall you peaks out. you will have to try to fix that. don't want anyone to know you are a softie. LOL
hugs
speaking of which, where are all the other people who are trying to lose weight. i just put up my five weekk weight loss. where arethe rest of you.??
Would be there Herbie, but not finished my first week...will start having 'pepsi' withdrawal shortly I would imagine....
betty - waer, water, averywhere
I'm losing weight, but I'm not going to put up my weight loss because I just got a lap-band and I would be at an unfair advantage. Good changes come along with the lap-band though. I haven't touched a soda since surgery, no bread, no refined sugar or flour. It's easy to eat right. I've lost 40 lbs in 8 weeks.
Just heard one of my friends in town - Kathy is her name - had same done..but wow, she said it cost her $16,000. imagine...maybe it's covered in your area...but congrats on the weight loss....
Herbie...BIL brought me in a 'Weight Watchers points calculator...says it will help me regulate my intake?
Most insurance won't cover it. I paid 8K but travelled out of the US for the surgery.
To Canada...she says it's reversible...or if you still eat more than you should it expands and defeats the purpose...is that correct..I have heard of stomach stappling etc. but never the bands...do they do it through incision or simply with lazer...
They do it through tiny incisions, laproscopically. There are no staples to burst so it is much safer. You can't really eat more than you should, it won't go down! You can still eat the wrong things, like sipping a milkshake all day, or eating chocolate all day. You can defeat the purpose but you'd really have to work at it. The reason you can never drink anything carbonated is because you might stretch your new small stomach.
Isn't that something...well good luck, how much more are you trying to lose?
Once you've accomplished your goal, do you have it removed?
Sorry for all the questions...it's just that it interested me...
No need to have it removed, ever. It can be deflated if you ever need to gain back weight, but once you lose the desired weight it just stays there to protect you from gaining it back. I hope to lose 25-50 more pounds, but it usually takes a year for full weight loss.
You've come a long way then...
I'm trying Weight Watchers...but didn't have my calculator this morning or my points books so dropped in to Tim Horton's...my drivers favorite haunt..hadn't had breakfast so thought I'd pick up a fat free muffin...NOT - used up 6 of my points...so must be more cautious as to what I eat..could have had bagel/butter/low fat cream cheese for same amt.... learning process I guess...need to shed 30 lbs...
I couldn't even get a whole muffin down! Probably all the carbs would make me sick anyway. I only eat 3oz lean protien for a meal and then veggies if I have any room left. There is no effort involved because that is ALL I can eat.
Well, good luck with the remainding lbs. am sure it will take you much less than 1 year to meat your goal..
Thanks! I am so happy I had it done. It is so easy now.
yes i know three other who had that done...
1 had good results and the other 2 as you say still ate the wrong thing.
for me, its not only what goes in my mouth but what goes on in my mind. i need to change my whole person.... i have been overweight all my life.
i need to lose 220lbs! yep.......yep....
so far i have lost 67.1 lbs so i have a long way to go. the lap band over here is about 8k but so out of my reach financially.
good luck tho, you are having great success......
big hugs and kisses to you all......

I am on it too, but the scales have never showed my weight loss accuratly so i do not use them hardly ever, but measure myself every 4 or 5 months to see if i am still shrinking. It is probably time again soon. I have goal pants too and so far I got into two differnt ones since my original loss. I lose slower than most, but am plugging along. Will tell you when I know the inches.
Yes you caught me anyway. I give, I`m a softy.
"B" H2O
I have a lot of friends that have lost with lap band and like it better than bypass. i like that it is easily adjusted to make it tighter or smaller. How much is an adjustment though?
Bynde,
Congrats on the weight loss! :-)
I'm glad you posted what you said about carbonated drinks stretching the stomach! Does it do that with a normal stomach? (like mine...or anyone's?) My DH's stomach has gotten HUGE the last 3 years, and I'll bet he drinks about 12 Diet Cokes per day! His stomach is still hard, but looks preggers! I mostly drink tea (one large one per day from a local drive-through) with art. sweetener.
They are finding out that even if you drink no-calorie sodas, you gain weight. Could this be because the carbonation swells the stomach and then makes you feel hungrier when your stomach is empty? That is just one of the hypotheses.
Frank, I am still here. It has been hectic for a couple weeks. I haven't weighed since Sunday, where I gained 3.5 lbs.
I also need to loose a large amount of weight, Our Insurance will cover it...if your BMI is over a certain percent. I have thought so much about it...but am still on the fence. It is so hard when DH has weight just melt off of him, and I watch someone eat a muffin and put on 5 lbs. DH has lost 21 lbs since we both started this weight loss with Frank.
I will just go slow and steady and realize it is going to take a long time for all this carbonation (its really not fat, just gas bubbles I am sure) to work there way out from years of soda! LOL
Debbie
There is a guy on the accessible gardening thread that had lap band too and he always talks about it. You ever talk to him too?
congratulations on your lap band weight loss. its amazing what can be done today. did ou hae the procedure done because it was need for good health or did you just decide to drop the weight?? before i started trying to lose weight i am sure i could have had this procedure done and myh insurance pay for it. after all i was over 150 pounds of what i should have weighed and the dr. might have given his permission to have it done but i guess i was afraid. to ech his own though and i am happy with the rtesults i am having.
wonder - i can't believe you have to lsoe that much weight. we all saw your picture.
debbie - just keep plowing along. once you start to lose weight on a regular basis you will become obsessed with losing weight and you will enjoy eating the msaller portions cause you know that when you get on the scale on whatever day you choose to weight yourself you will see a drop in weight and that will send your self esteem shooting through the sky. it does for me.
have a great day
p.s. yesterday went and bought new clothes for my vacation. went to walmart cause it was only some summer shirts and pullovers that i needed and some pants. my size in the button down type of shirt went from a 3x down to an extra large. and the pullovers from a 3 and 4x down to a 2x. i was thrilled. my waist size has gone from a 62 to a 46.
keep the faith
You and your family must be so thrilled with what you've achieved... a healthier you!
