here is our weight loss for week one
laura 9 lbs. 3 oz.
debbie 2 lbs. 5 oz.
frank 3 lbs.
our next weight in will be july 13th which is a few days from now. lets keep up the good work.
debbie - i still prefer water over anything. besides, it is a lot cheaper to fill a bottole with water than buying anything flavored or anything to flavor water with.
anyone else want to join us ??????
my 100 + lb weight loss = my new toy
hey i dont get weighed until the 16th which is your 15th so i will be late with my weigh in.
cheers
Maybe next week I'll join you all...need some encouragement..
I got sick 4 wks. ago with a bladder infection. Was taking cipro and it tore my stomach up. Now for some reason I can't stand the smell or taste of frying or boiling meat (beef or pork). Can eat fish and a little chicken. Since our garden is producing LARGE amts. of squash my hus. has been preparing a squash casserole almost everyother night and I have been eating that the other vegetables along with rice. I have lost 6 or 7 #'s.
LC,
There is nice Zucchini recipe Post under The Recipes Forum.
Check it out! Lots of yummy ways to fix this squash!
Gita
lc - congratulations. do you want to get onto our list??
laura and debbie - we have to coordinate our weigh ins so that we weigh ourselvs aboutthe same time. with laura being a day ahead its a challange. LOL
how about every friday and monday. would that be o.k.??
i hope i can edit my first weigh in each week to show what we are losing.
have a great day and talk to you at weigh in tomorrow.
frank
monday is good for me, i dont have scales so i joined a support group called T.O.W.N club (take off wieght naturally). they have special scales that go up high.... so i weigh in there each monday night....
been a good girl this week.... so i am hoping for good results.
let us all remember that there will be days when you get on the scale and you will think its not working right cause you stayed the sme or even you may have gained some wiehgt back. this is all natural. your body reacts differently while dieting. i have found that i weight more in the morning right out of bed than when i come home from work in the afternoon. don't know why. i used whatever is lower for our weigh ins. LOL
another thing that is important. this is especiall true if you find that just eating soup with no regular breakfast or dinner makes you lose weight quickely. remember this. the body needs some fat to work. if you use the soup diet for more than a week what happens is the body thinks it is starving and so it stores everying you eat as fat no matter what it is.
do we want to have just one weigh in per week or two?? let me know.
well im happy to hear about both weigh ins, i will only do one cos thats the only access i have but it doesnt worry me in the slightest.
thanks for that advice, will keep that in mind.
i will weigh myself when i gethome from work and post it. i feel skinny. LOL
Well, I weighed this morning.
I am the same. No gain, no loss. I had to eat out twice do to long trips to doctors....but I ate healthy. Fruit and salad.
I am just happy no gain.
Debbie
remember when i mentioned in an earlier post that sometimes you hit little bumps in the road.... WELL i hit one today. after three days of dieting i got on the scale and it showed i gained two pounds. i am now back to 258. i have no real reason why this should happen. i has happened many times in the past and sometimes even more pronounmced but i know in the long run it will get back to what it should be. i have ben eating the same as i have been aos this was scary cause i really felt that i was losing weight., oh well.
lets get our weigh times down. laura - when do you get to weigh yourself. give us the day of the week and then we will all do it the same time.
keep up the fight.
i guyess i can't complain. the first 3 days of this week i lost 3 pounds but now with this gain my net loss is just a pound but i feel better already. LOL
i will figujre out a better way to get our weights on the post. i will figure it out. make like a spreadsheet. LOL
i weigh in on monday)your sunday) each week.
hey a pound is a pound herbie..... get a pound of butter and look at it knowing its not around you heart anymore, or not carrying it around....
and no loss no gain is good too! At my club they call that a 'turtle' and you are rewarded for it.
So, a gold star to you both!
wow, thats the first gold star i ever got. school was not one of my best subjects unless you count lunch period. Haaaaaa
hahah me too...
In my childhood and consequently my adulthood, food was never around. we were dirt poor and hungry. because i was considered overweight then too i got even less. that couple with some rather aweful experiences, a violent dad and other things, the pattern for the need for food and the fear of not having it set in. So school for me was hideous!
Thought i would share a little of that as often we have emotional reason for eating the way we did. Hope you dont mind.
x
why should i. the most embarrassing time i had when i was overweight was when i joined the service. even thoujgh i was overwight when i we3nt in they still took me. but once i got to boot camp in great lakes ill. and they issued us our white and blue uniforms i did not get any because they said i was too fat and that i would have to wear my dungerees until they could "get the tent maker to make mine" they were so nice back then. anyway, whenever we wanted to go to the movies or anyting outside the brracks we have to have 6 men or more because if did not you had to double time (run) anywhere you went. it was nice to have six guys so you could walk but whenever one of the instructors saw me in dungerees he knew what tham meant and so he would call me out and tell me to do a hundred pushups all the while telling me if was for my own good. i lost alot of weight during my time there but when i went to italy it started all over again. i just loved to eat. its different now thank god.
yep, people can be cruel...
Can I join this too? I have really been trying to lose weight and the support sounds wonderful...my biggest problem is living with a man who is 6' 3" , weighs 170 and can eat everything...constantly....and he always brings me a plate when he eats.....how do you say no????
welcome aboard!
i have the same problem.. i just say, thanks for thinking of me honey but not right now. or i will have something a little different.
threegardens - of course and welcome abouard the good ship "getting thin. lets get this straight. our weigh ins will start next sunday (for u.s. folks) and monday (for you aussies). hows that sound??
i am trying to so something like this for our program
week name loss/gain total
if anyone has better idea just put it up.
o.k. time to fess up. i was real bad on saturday. celebrated my sons first flying lesson by taking him and his girlfriend to dinnar at a place called the double o. on the way there i said to my wife that i am going to eat real sensible since i know all the stuff they have there and their portions are very big. i was going through the menu and there it was!!!! the all time calorie busting double o double cheese and bacon hamburger with french fries and onion shreds. i couldn't resist it but i did only eat 1/2 and send the other half home with my son. LOL
o.k. back to face the mkusic. soo next sunday debbie, me and our new friend, three gardens will show up here and say what we have lost or gained. o.k. on the recipe forum under my post diet recipe i wi9ll be posting what i eat for week three.
enjoy
a plane??? ggod grief!
I gained 3 oz this week. however i maintained most of my loss from last week so i am happy with that. keeping in mind that us ladies have a struggle with 'womens woes' i think im doing ok.
good luck all
no excuses and we men have to struggle also with woman who have woman woes. lol. see you all on the weigh in next sunday. be good until then.
put on grms... doh!
arfe you weighing yourfself using the metridc system?? better figure out how to convert it cause i ain't gonna do it. math was my worse subject in school. LOL if you weighed yourself using tghe metic system does that mean that instead of losing 9 pounds you onlyh lost 1/2 ounce. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
have a good one.
hahaha no
300grms = about 10oz
or 500 grams equals about a pound....hehehe
oh ya..something like that!
lets stick to ounces and pounds. i find it hard to lie about my weight loss in grams. LOL
susan - why are you on this thread. you don't have to lose any weight.
Its because she misses you Frank.....and she wouldn't be so thin if she didn't watch what she ate! LOL
I have been sabotaged. DH made all kinds of desserts for my birthday...and he will be hurt if I don't eat them. I am thrilled he is thinking of me...but what the heck...he knows I am dieting.
Susan, I am so glad you are visiting us....don't you pay any attention to Frank. LOL
Debbie
Debbie, did I miss your Bday? :-( If I did, I'm sooo sorry!
Franklin, you do not know if I need to lose weight or not. Don't you know you should never never discuss a lady's weight by now? Hasn't your Debbie ever asked you the "fat" question? You know the one ...
"Honey, do these pants make my butt look big?" * while she gazes at you with those adoring eyes *
evil grin
Oh no, an evil grin from Susan!
I don't ask that question of my dh...he would say...No honey, your butt makes your butt look big! LOL
betty - a few things to remember when eating dessert.
any desert that is the color of vegetables (pistacio green like broccoli green) is not fattening but rather healthy.
if no one sees you eating than you don't gain weight
susan - check out my lastest post on the prayer forum about my son taking flying lessons and you will see the greatest blunder i have ever made.
o.k. its weight in time if anyone is still interested
i lost those two pounds i had gained last week and i am now at 256.4
anyone else ????
i weigh in tomorrow, dont like my chances tho, birthday weekend and all. tried to be as good as i can tho.
I had the birthday this week....and I went up 1.5 lbs. But I have a very busy week and am hoping it goes back off.
DH, without trying so much, has lost 21 lbs in 6 weeks. Our daughter is getting married in 13 days 5 1/2 hours.....and we both have been trying so hard. I am proud of him though.
I have promised myself to stay away from the fairgrounds and fried dough also....a weakness big time!
Frank, I am really glad you gained your ground again with the loss. I am not upset about mine....as you said it will be up and down...and the banana cream pie DH made for BD was worth it! LOL
Debbie
ok...weigh in...lost a pound, sitting at 145.
Gave up drinking diet pop, only drink crystal light now. Every time I have to go upstairs for something, I go up and down the stairs 10 times. Been walking to the store for the mail as well instead of driving.
Now that is awesome! Very good work. I would need an oxygen tank if I went up and down the stairs ten time!
I have given up soda also, had one bad moment with that this week as I had the shakes so grabbed that instead of fruit.
Debbie
A few months ago, at the HD I work in, a bunch of the more overweight employees decided to do the "Biggest Looser" thing. A bunch of people signed up. I am not one of them, by the way. My bod is fairly OK.
The rules were:
1. Had to pay a one time $10 to weigh in to start/register.
2. Everyone paid $1 every week on a designated day for a weigh-in.
For every pound they had gained (instead of lost) they had to pay
$1 in the kitty.
3. If they dropped out, there was a $10 letting go fee.
4. Duration of this contest was 3 months.
All this money kept adding up in the kitty.
The winners (1st place, 2nd, and 3rd) were determined by the %'age
of weight they lost (based on their original weight) NOT the amount of pounds they lost. Pretty fair, don't you think?
There were a lot of extremely overweight people to start. I mean, maybe 250-300lbs. Everyone worked hard, but after a while it became hard for some to stay on this self-imposed diet and they quit.
The guy that won 1st place (about $300) is the only one still sticking to his diet. He has totally changed the way he eats and likes it now.
Most of the other people have all regained their weight back--plus. This usually happens when people go on diets. One cannot live on depriving your body of any one food group. You have to CHANGE the way you eat and WHEN you eat. Just cut portions. have snacks instead of full meals. Yadda...yadda...yadda....I think I covered all this way back above.
I brought this up because someone mentioned drinking Sodas.
The guy who won lost 13 lbs. the first week! All he did different was stop drinking Regular Coke. Now he never drinks Sodas....Eats healthier, does not snack on Chips and junk food, etc.
We can ALL live without those things! Yes???
I am not part of all this weigh in thing here on DG, but I have lost 17lbs. since end of January when I went in for my knee replacement. Lost 10lbs in the 7 days in the Hospital/Rehab, then had no appetite for a month after I got home. Also was not able to do a lot of cooking and such. Ate a lot of my home made frozen soups. Laid on the couch forever and did crossword puzzles.....
Somehow, somewhere along the way, I seem to have changed how I eat, what I eat and when I eat. Not really denying myself anything...but I AM mindful of the fats and sugar in things. I am at a weight now that I have NOT been in close to 15 years! Hope I stay there!
Good luck to you all!! You all have a nice support system here.
