It is in a place we stay at in Ojai CA. called the Emerald Iguana. I want to make one soon for a back drop of a lion head fountain. Sorry Frank. Off topic. Oh thanks for the compliments girls, not true but thanks anyway.
my 100 + lb weight loss = my new toy
dawn - whether your girls are old or new THEY are still truly beautiful and i thank you for making my day so early in the morning. wonder if deb would mind waking up early. LOL i do wish the top picture was a little clearer.
i hope you don't start something where all the other ladies here will try to show off also. actually that would be a great idea. LOL
for the rest of you ladies out there, remember this, its not what you have, its how you use it. Haaaaa.
gita - what you said is totally untrue. i never eat cereal in the morning. LOL

Well, I just about shot hot coffee through my nose! ROFLMBO Oh that was soooo good!
Frank, what does it mean when you have absolutely no appetite? I mean for nothing....no hunger pangs or anything. I know I have to eat because my metabolism will just shut down, but no desire for food.
Now when this dieting is done, and I have lost all my desired weight....I hope my "girls" will stay OUT of the cereal bowl and off the dinner plate.
Debbie
Frank just wants to wear his thong-bikini while he is in OC........
I will try to act "impressed"....:o)))
G.
Will he be riding his bike while wearing that "lovely outfit?"
Well....Hahaha-You all are histerical!!
I come periodically to check on all. Imagine my suprise today.
Yep, just can imagine frank's uh morning smile.

Hope you all don't mind could resist adding my 2cents.
Judy
Hi Seed you are so funny.
Franklin I don`t even want to know why you would wake Deb up early? Poor poker shark, needs her rest now Franklin.
Frank please don`t wear the little bike shorts or a speedo but if you do, take lots of pix Gita.
your gorgoeous!
hey we call speedos budgie smugglers... lol
i saw a cartoon where an old gentleman asked his wife cheekily to flash her boobs... she bent down and lifted the bottom of her skirt! hahahahaha
know how she feels!! hahahahahahahaahah
i just about choked when i read all those posts.... *wipes tear*
Well all, told you a story about my New Orleans trip so might share another...when I was 19 and just married a few years (yup 17) to a 22 year old..I worked for Canadian General Electric and it was Christmas party time..so, just getting out of hospital from 6 month stay, 2 drinks did me in...I mean really did me in...I weighed 92 lbs soaken wet and was big chested...remember that I was wearing a very black slinky dress..we were going to friends apt. to have a nightcap..this was about 1:30 am...as if I or they needed one~ the 2 gentlemen who were with their wives (ladies weren't that endowed) would comment to Roger that it must have cost him a fortune on stuffing in order to dress me up....we were travelling in the elevator a few floors down from the appt. to main lobby-their comments hit me the wrong way so to prove my point (now there's a pun) out came the ladies and as I did so, doors opened and voila, lobby full of people waiting for the elevator...doors quickly closed and that was the end of that challenge! Oh to be young again, but, not...just enjoy the memories...lol...hope no-one was offended...
Oh, B & Laura! Now, I am the one ROFLMB&GO....Truly, too, too funny. Budgie smugglers…I absolutely love it and can’t wait for an opportunity to work it into a conversation IRL.
Betty, I love you just as you are today, but what I wouldn’t give to have known you then, as well….what fun we would have had. Oh, the stories we could tell….
Jan
(Thanks for banishing the last vestiges of my headache :0)
Oh I want mine to go away too and it will probably get worse because i almost snorted up soda reading those posts too. B you wild woman you.
I'm alive and well, I've just been really busy. YOU KNOW I'm busy if I don't make it to DG!! I weighed in on Monday for a starting weight and I've been on my best behavior.
I remarried a year ago to the sweetest man. Ben is not into gardening but will support me in ANY thing I am interested in. I worked late the last two nights and he made me wonderful low-fat, high fiber meals. He is perfectly fine (and will lose weight) eating high fat and low carb but that is not a good food fit for me. I'm so lucky to have his love and support. I will be reporting my weigh-ins on Mondays.
Pat
Great pat, that is fantastic. Me too, I can no longer do the high protein thing, colestral is a killer for me. Lived half my life on that stuff and it will kill you if the fat doesn`t.
Frank I do garden but not veggies so far. I am working on the soil improvement this year and have a huge lasagna garden that I look forward to jumping into. I think it will be ready in January or Feb. to plant in. Veggies i can use all the help i can get on, I know nada.
Hi, Pat. DH sounds like a keeper, for sure.
Dawn, really, really hope your head/neck aches go away. I do migraines now and then and also take mega stuff for OA and my neck is one of my worst spots, so I feel for you.
Sorry, Frank.....more than slightly OT. Mea culpa.
believe me, i hate to wear tight clothing. i'm into baggy stuff.
after seeing your pictures dawn i woke debbie up and told her i wanted to show her something. she told me thatthe only reason she would even think of getting up at 3 a.m. was to open a box from tiffiny. LOL
debbie - if i dont have an appetite then someone check my pulse. Haa. actually. that sometimes happens to me. i eat a little snack of 1/2 cup sugar free jello mixed with 1/4 cup of sugar freee pudding at about 1 p.m. each afternoon. when dinner times comes sometimes i am not hungry but i eat anyway cause i know if i don't, i'll be cheating all night.
gita - oh, you'll be impressed alright, belive me. LOL but that won't get you to be my nbr 1.
to all the newbies who are joing our weight loss club i welcome you.
betty - just the though of you wearing a slinky black dress wants me wake up debbie again. LOL
weigh in on sunday --- be good
Good Morning!
Oh gosh...Betty, what a grand memory! got a good belly laugh!
OMG...Bungie Smuglers??? How the heck will I ever keep a straight face at the beach again...hahhaa-still laughing.
Well, got to tell you I am here to support to offer support, and really to maintain my own weight. Since no drinking I have gained a few that I hope to be rid of shortly.
I find walking fast to be a really good exercise for me.
Plus, eating a little more healthy-like salads-No white bread. And I have decided that the one pop a day is probably what is doing me in. So, I am switching to Ice tea(powdered)
Have a healthy day!
Judy
Tricks and knowledge...
Well for one thing, I do not lose well without plenty of water to drink. Water consumption boosts your metabolism and it is known to curb appetite. There are lots of formulas out there but the easiest is Eight 8oz glasses of water. Add another 8 oz glass for every 25 pounds you are overweight. I know for some of us, that is A LOT of water but it really helps, it's free and good for you. Sounds like a winner to me!
I KNOW that when I convert over to healthier eating it becomes a cycle of better choices. I FEEL better when I eat healthier. In the long run for me it does not cost more because I am avoiding expensive sweets and fast food. I wasted a lot of money on candy and junk food.
I always cook to PLAN for extra's to put in the freezer. At any given time there are frozen entrees in the freezer that my husband and I made from scratch. I know what is in each one and I know it was made from fresh fruits and vegs, lean meats. There really is never a good excuse for me to make bad choices when it is so easy to make good ones.
As for WLS, the book "WLS for Dummies" is great. Good info and comprehensive. My sister gave me about a dozen different books on the subject and all the online info she researched before she made the decision to have it done. It is not for everybody, and it takes effort and dedication. VERY FEW insurances cover it but sometimes it is just necessary to bite the bullet and pay yourself. Her body is insulin resistant, well on it's way to diabetic and her body was so "efficient" that it was extremely difficult to lose weight with cutting calories.
I have a support group that I belong to that is online. One of the things that has helped is posting our starting weight, our current weight and our target weight with every post. This is not something everybody is comfortable with, I understand!
Alter your clothes or give them away as they get too big.
So there you have it, you asked and I hope I answered with something useful to you.
Pat
Thanks Pat...back to work this Monday and am hoping to really get into a routine..I taught Line Dancing for about 5 years..still have all my tapes, perhaps I'll just have to get into 1/2 hr. in a.m. and 1/2 hr. pm...
Judy Babe....I'm here with you...so pleased you are doing good with the drinking...bet the family is thrilled...so here's to the new us....
pat - thanks for your input. i drink about 100 ounces a day. have my first one driving to work at 4 in the morning and the last at dinner.
betty - i have a dvd workout video but leslie somebody. it runs for 20 minutes but in that 20 minutes you actually do enough for a mile walk. she also has another dvd which is for a two mile walk. i find them to be very good. i hate to exercise and that is why i bought the bike. the dr. who operated on my knee told me i can sart riding it six weeks after surgery which is in another 3 weeks.
3 days to weigh in. see you then.
at weigh in today i am happy to say that i am now 248 pounds which means i lost 2 pounds duringthe week,
report in please.
you guys are a hoot.......
Unfrtunately my battle with the bulge has been put on hold for a while. I am coming back home to the states next week and I hope to get back n the bandwagon when I am there.
Good luck to you all.
See you soon :)
Frank, I am reporting in. I forgot to weigh in first thing this morning...but just got on and I am up 1 lbs....SO, that usually means I am down about 2 lbs. I put on "day weight" yeah thats the term...I think I am keeping that one.
Its been so hot here I have been drinking ice tea since I got up, so I figure a gallon weighs how much? 128 ounces...so divide that by 16....and yeah....ummm...I am sure I lost weight if you subtract that!
Good news on the two pounds Frank. I gotta get movin!
Debbie
I switched my weigh in day JUST for you Frank, I normally weigh in on Mondays --- down 4 lbs. Amazing how quickly I can "feel better" by cutting out the foods I should not eat!
Pat
pebble - o.k. we will wait for you to start again
deb - i know what you mean. somtimes on saturday when i get off from work and i get on the scale it will have one weight and the next morning before i go to work it will change. i use which ever is my best interest. LOL
pat - excellent.
stay fat free this week.
hello, i wiegh in tonight and will post later. tried hard this week but its been a stressful one so we will see.
I went to Lubbock this weekend and was soooo good (just flew in this morning, so haven't weighed yet.....I only weigh in the morning!!) When everyone else had Mexican, I ordered fajitas and ate the meat with the cheese, guac, and sour cream (all allowed on the South Beach diet) and only ONE CHIP. I usually eat an entire basket myself! :-) I broke the chip into about 20 teeeeeny pieces so I had c*r*u*n*c*h ....while they were munching away!
Hope the other stuff I ate (chicken caprise....with moz. cheese and balsamic vinegar reduction); eggs and sausage I know are okay) was "good to me."
Connie
Franklin, You are such a Perv. lol
dawn - what brought that on??? more lol's
laura - don't worry. there is always next week
connie - by just reading about that food would make me gain weight.
i have to be really good this week cause tomorrow morning i will be in boston mass. my nephew is getting married (on a boat) on saturday so deb and i figured we would go up a few days early and act as tourists. have tickets for a whale watching trip and some other stuff. am looking forwrd to visiting qunich market and to have dinner down in their little italy. won't be back on here until monday morning and i NEVER weight my self when i come back from a trip. i will weight myself tomorrow morning before i go away and see how i am doing.
lost half a pound so thats good
Yesterday was a bad day, I had two sodas....nothing else different except those two sodas....and I gained 3 lbs! ewwww!
So now I find carbonation weighs quite a bit on my behind. I even shared carrot sticks with the rabbit!
Frank have an awesome time, take lots of pictures especially if you see a whale! And have some seafood for me, I love it!
Safe traveling,
Debbie
I'm afraid I have to weigh myself before and after the trip, if nothing else, to keep me accountable. Heaven knows I have enough trouble staying on track at times without the lure of thinking I'm not going to weigh in!!! Have a wonderful trip Frank and eat some of that low cal seafood for me!!!
Pat
Well I misunderstood you then , I thought you were Randy when you were saying that you wanted Deb to wake up and show here something. lol I don`t get it but I must have the pervy mind then.
I am in size 12 or 11-12 in some so I am not losing like before but have not been as rigid. I was16 or 16-17.
Frank you have mail, but we are going to the Nevada state Line Casinos for the night only so I`ll see your response when I get back Ok, if you have answered.
Hi guys! I just started reading this thread and have enjoyed the laughs, recipes! I too need to lose weight ...have tried Weight Watchers, Richard Simmons, SlimFast and most lately, Jenny Craig. Can't stick to any of them. The snacking does me in . I eat a healthy breakfast and lunch and can even be good for dinner if I am eating at home (!) but it's the evenings when I am watching TV or reading that I have to have something in my mouth all the time! I go from craving something salty (popcorn or pretzels) to craving something sweet (a huge bowl of ice cream!) ...cookies, etc. Lately I have been trying to chew sugar-free gum which at least keeps my mouth busy chewing with no calories!! I am trying to keep junk out of the house and nibble on carrots and nuts. I am going downtown to dinner tonite and hope to be good. I will weigh myself tomorrow morning and start with the fruit and soup thing. Lord knows, I have tried everything else! Look forward to hearing from you all. Sandy
I LOVE my Lap-band. I'm down 50lbs. in less than 3 months!
You know Sandy, it is an addiction. Some people fare better health and appearance wise than others, among those who suffer this addiction.
It is a bottom thing for everyone and the bottom is also different too. I think for me when I completely got depressed when I saw my self in any pictures and didin`t even recognize myself anymore that I said, Something has got to change.
I first just did it with no expectations of any physical changes at all,but knew I was cutting down on portions and no seconds and I was going to move
for atleast 20 to thirty minutes a day for atleast 4 to 5 (usually 5) for the rest of my life. I made healthy changes and have a slow metabolism that is a little faster now after doing this since January 12th. I lose slow but whatever it is, I feel better and healthier.
You decide what would make you feel healthier and be a better way to live and what you need to add or take out and do that baby step first, but don`t say diet. That is a way to expect a result in a short time, just do stuff that you know you can do for life. If it works for you, you will make alterations to it to make it better, later. B A B Y S T EP S.
Great advice, thanks. Yesterday went out to lunch with DGF and her DH and she and I split a hamburger and a few onion rings. Normally, I would eat a whole one with a side of fries, etc. When I got home, though, I at a lot of the flavored Wheat Thins while watching TV. I made some homemade popsicles a couple of weeks ago and had them in the freezer. I made them with V8 Splash (the diet one) and they were delicious ...kept my mouth occupied for tiny calories and was really refreshing!!) I am always looking for the snack solution!! That is my biggest weakness!!
I lost another 2 pounds this week. Last night was a struggle! I really had to battle the urge to stop at a store get something sweet and crunchy. When my husband works swing is when I battle the urge to eat the most. I finally settled on popping some air pop popcorn with the spray on butter substitute.
Pat
Hi Everyone!
I have been following this thread for a bit. Weight and health have always been issues for me so anytime I can read and learn and get inspired by others I am grateful.
I started trying to be real serious with my weight in December. I have lost 40 pounds by cutting out bread, pasta, rice, potatos and sugar. I mainly eat whole foods. Try to stay away from anything packaged. I eat fruit, dairy, veggies, meat, fish, beans and such. I eat a little something about every 3 hours. And try to make my biggest meal of the day my lunch since my work schedule has me getting home too late to eat a big huge meal and then leave it sitting on my stomach all night. Lots of water. I try to get in 4-5 days a week of several miles a day on my treadmill. I should be doing more but just making myself do that is a struggle! :-)
I went on vacation a few weeks ago and have gained 6 pounds back!! So hard to lose, it sure does come back in a hurry. So, now I am trying to get back up to snuff and get on my program again.
So, tomorrow is Monday...I will officially start. Again.
Thanks everyone for giving me inspiration! :-)
-Tia
Beth,
Does the idea of the lap-band mean that ANYONE who would just eat a tiny bit of food each day would lose that much weight? Or do you have to avoid certain foods? Does eating sugar cause you any adverse reactions? Just curious.
Thanks!
Connie
