Coffee and...Part 30...! :-D

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

LOL, just got back from stuffing myself at lunch with a friend, nice bit of tenderloin and onion shreds, baked potato, big salad...guess there won't be any big dinner here either....Last night we ate around 7:30 because DH couldn't get the Honda started after work and had to call a buddy because it needed more than a jump. The main fuse blew, so they hot wired it, and now it's sitting in the driveway. In the meantime, did I mind tending to two auctions on Ebay for him which requires sitting in front of the computer and waiting until the last minute to throw in a bid. Did I get a big thank you? No, I got a minor argument because he gave me the wrong password, which I managed to circumvent and won his two auctions. I guess you can never do enough.

Nice photos and links for those who have posted them for us to share. I really enjoy seeing gardens with paths and interesting objects in them.

I do my best cleaning when I'm ticked off....come to think of it, that's about the only time I clean......LOL I've sort of been on a kick lately though, and this week I picked up some new stainless steel shelves at my favorite overstock hardware store, wait, I already told you about that , didn't I. Never mind.

I picked four ripe tomatoes!! Finally....I had just about given up hope that I'd see any at all. Everything looks pretty ragged out there. Reminds me to go move the hose again. My second career. Or third, right after scullery maid.

Got on a rant and forgot to send good wishes for the pacemaker surgery and results from Darius' test. Also sending wishes for rain for those of us who need it.

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks Darius, That makes me feel better now.
Also thanks, tgif.
She is 6 hrs away and I still debating on whether I should go up there or not. My father said in his e-mail to me, "now don't you come up, I can take care of everything". Well, the last time I heard that was 2 years ago when my father cut off his fingers as I said before in another post, so I sat and stewed on whether to go up there. Then I just decided to go. Boy, was I glad that I did. Mom had a major heart attack that same day in the hospital where my father was. So spent the next 2 weeks going between 2 floors in the hospital in Seattle helping them. So.... You can see why I am so jumpy about all this.

Yes, Darius, hope you do get a little bit of rain and don't lose any more power. You need to be online with us, lol.

DR - for your own peace of mind, if you can - go.

There is one very important thing you can do - you can hold your Daddy's hand!

Oh, go, for all you know, he'll do something with his remaining fingers in his worried state......! And you'll feel much better being there.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well I fixed DH a gourmet meal tonight. He had PBJ and I had plain PB. Waltzed in around 4:00, said he was so tired from fishing!! Sarv, he found his way home, I guess. You didn't plant that can of oil in his anatomy anywhere did you?

DR, the surgery should go okay. DM had pacemaker 5 years ago, still going strong at 86. But I would go, as it will make you feel better and it is always nice to know that someone cares enough to come that far for the procedure.

Everyone else, I will be back on line after I shower and rest a bit.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Not much to report. The windows came at dinnertime last night. Out two of them in today. Lots of removing and replacing shingle siding, had to cut out and enlarge part of the wall for one. Have three more openings to rebuild before I can set the rest of them. The second batch of biscotti came out good. I posted the recipe somewhere, will try to find it again. The Lemon Pepper is different and quite good. DW and lady friends leave for a 3 day weekend at Saltspring Island in the Canadian San Juans. A beautiful place so I've been told. I am at a loss to understand the turmoil between some of you ladies and your spouses. DW has a good friend who married a loser, had two lovely girls, divorced, married another turkey, divorced and did it again. She deserves more than that, but that was her lot. She is unmarried at present. Why a person can't appreciate his wife's hard work is beyond me. I guess it works the other way too. I'm blessed with a true gem. Can't say that about he first one though. Hope everyone has a better day tomorrow. From the sounds of it, today hasn't been all that great for some of you. Join me in a toddy and let those non deserving cads fend for themselves.

Daisy - if it were me I would be there= no questions asked. When my mom had her knee replacement surgery (in the hosp 2 wks), I visited her every single day and called her every morning. Sometimes she wasn't feeling well and I would only pop in to give her a hug and other days I would spend the afternoon with her - sometimes both of us snoozing. It was a pain in the patootie to drive down there each day, but I only have one mom and would do anything for her (she likewise for me!!) I was only 20 miles away, so it was no big thing. Six hours is another story tho. I'll keep you and your mom in my prayers tho...

Went and bought subs for din din - they were ok- better than cooking! I should have eaten only 1/2, but of course pigged down on the whole thing and now feel uncomfortably stuffed!!

Bal - you don't seem to understand that you are one in a million!! Your wife should be utterly delighted with you. My DH is sometimes a pain in the butt, but despite my complaints, I'll keep him. I'm sure he thinks the same about me! When we are at someone elses house and he catches my eye and I see that twinkle, I about melt. Now this doesn't happen often, just enough to love him.

OK, enough of that sappy stuff!! Man, are anyone elses allergies kicking up? My eyes feel like I dripped elmers glue in them, my ears itch and my throat is all gooey. My nurse cousin said I should feel better tomorrow with the tooth/sinus stuff - antibiotic should be in charge. Can you believe I am still suffering with it- albiet, not as bad as before, just a dull ache in the cheek/eye area.

Mary- good luck on the ride - I still am in awe of you and your activities.

Defo- I have peanut butter on bread every morning for breakfast- just can't get enough of it. I want it on soft, squishy white bread too .

M5- hey, my best cleaning comes when I am royally ticked too! Or when company is coming!

8pm and I already have my jammies on. Got a good book I am gonna lose myself in. Back to the work out joint tomorow morning...take care all

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

they sound yummie, Robert, but please tell temperature to bake them in and how long?
Maria

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Maria, the second entry, the longer one, indicates baking at 350° for 20 minutes and the process. I didn't know how to get them both on the same posting.

Sarv, twinkles are good !

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

thanks, Robert, did not get that far, lo, and I still don't get it
Maria

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Maria, it is a little odd.Biscotti, twice baked, take a couple procedures not required of "regular" cookies. In this cast the dough is made then chilled for ease of handling, then rolled out into 'ropes' and flattened some, then baked at 350° for about 20 minutes or till lightly browned, then removed from the oven to cool for a few minutes, long enough to make them cool enough to handle but warm enough to cut without crumbling. Then they go back on the sheet on their sides and into the oven for another 20 minutes or so to start drying. After that, this recipe calls for turning off the oven and leaving the cookies in it till they are cool, I leave them till the morning. Lastly, on goes the lemon glaze, and eat 'em up or freeze 'em so they don't get soft. Hope this helps.
DW did a super dinner tonight. Brotwurst, boiled cabbage, and hot German Potato Salad. Lots to clean up, but it was sure worth it.
Is anyone else getting unsolicited mail from Realtors wanting to buy your property ? We get several every week. They either want to list it, or say they have a buyer, or some other ploy but never say what property they are 'interested' in. I'm tired and full. Time for an after dinner coffee and settle down to watch the news.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Robert, you just don't get it!! You seem to be the perfect male. You cook, you do projects, don't seem at all "wrapped up in yourself". I do love DH, but at times, he needs a 2x4 upside the head to get him out of his world. I am talking leaving his clothes flung all over the bedroom, 3-4 pairs of shoes out sitting in all the rooms, eating, making a mess and walking off and leaving it. The only "housework" he does is put dirty supper dishes in dishwasher. Never notices that his clothes magically appear in his drawer clean, doesn't know how to operate the washer, dryer, etc. Probably doesn't know what an iron looks like or what it is for. I just want him to pick up after himself!! I don't think that is too much to ask.

Sorry, I'll get off the soap box now and get ready to hit the hay. After my day, I am so tired that sleep will surely come swiftly.

Rest well, Good night.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Trouble is you spoiled him, Defoe, leave his mess and see what's happening, LOL
Sorry to put you do so much trouble, Robert, I never made biscotti but always wanted to try them, but have cooked bratwurst and sauerkraut with a hot potatoe salad for my DH many times, he loved it more than I tdid,
Thanks again for your recipe.
Maria

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Try making the biscotti Maria. There are dozens of other recipes on the internet by just googling 'biscotti'. After trying some of the biscotti Darius made I had to try it myself. First ones were stones, second were slightly edible, and after that they got a little better.
DW did do me proud a while back. Chatting with 'the girls' about husbands shortcomings and such, she said I was "low maintenance". But having a spouse as good as her makes you just want to make her happy. I'm so much luckier than most, in many ways. Nite all, and DF, keep the 2X4 close.

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Have a very hot chocolate cookie! They taste great!!!
Made these tonight since I am kind of stressed out about my Mom. So I cook, lol!
Called my parents and they said it was a fairly simple procedure and not to come up. So will be hanging around the phone tomorrow in case anything happens. Had a good chat with Mom, so...
She is having the surgery tomorrow morning.
Got some things done in the garden. Did get the bean stalks pulled down and put in the compost. I planted way too many beans this year and won't next year. lol

balvenie, you sound like quite a man. Your DW is very lucky to have a "jack of all trades" around the house. I enjoy reading the projects you are working on plus the great baking/cooking you do.

Sarv, thanks for your thoughts.

It is late so off to bed finally,
Don't forget to grab a cookie while reading all these great stories.

Morning, GOB's, been up awhile, made some cinnamon rolls, help yourself while they are warm.

Busy day today, I have a chiropractors appointment, and am taking DMIL to the Dr. She is having so much trouble breathing. It is a combination of asthma, allergies and being so bent over from osteoporosis. I am taking her to my dr, as the one she has been going to hasn't done much to help her. It wouldn't surprise me if he wants her in the hospital. I check on her several times a day, in addition to taking care of my DM. Really need to go to grocery, and am picking up DGD this afternoon.

Sorry folks for the rant yesterday, I'm sure that stress plays a big part in my temperment. No aria, I didn't spoil him, in addition to his mother, he had 5 sisters, so he didn't have to do much around the house.

Well need to sign off and get going, will check in later. Have a good day!!|

MMMMMMM warm choco chippers, and for breakfast at that!! Might even dunk them in my coffee! Limited coffee intake due to golf this morning. Budget crisis in the parks, they haven't maintained the bathrooms on the 5th hole and they have one of those portapotty things that I wouldn't set foot in if I were bursting.

In spite of my grumbling, DH is a keeper...he does his own laundry, scoops the kitty pan daily, changes my oil, and doesn't ever nag...he just annoys me sometime when he's oblivious.

Very Good News. Kids just put their little tiny house on the market Wednesday. Realtor called them last night to see if someone could come in and see it, and went back to the office to write an offer. Being a "starter home" there should be no problem with the prospective buyer putting in a contingency to sell their home, and financing should be a breeze. Got an email from DIL this morning, she said, "Could it be this easy?" Considering what else is available in their price range, I would say yes. They are in a nice neighborhood, DS has done a yeoman's job rehabbing, and the yard is lovely with his newly developed gardening skills. Of course, I told her it was because I went over after lunch and cleaned off the dead bleeding heart branches and leaves....LOL Here's a link if you want to peek at it. Gardens aren't nice now. And the digital photo makes the siding look decrepit but it isn't. I'm really happy for them, and if they get $75K it will be a wonderful boost to their downpayment and moving expenses.

I hope this works!!

Rainy and cool here today - now I am wishing for warm and sun. Am I ever happy? LOL I am going to the work out place in a bit, but when I return home, I am gonna look at cookbooks and find something yummy for din din - actually cool as it is, chili sounds good!! Maybe I'll do chili and try an new biscuit receipe.

Robert- I may even mix up some biscotti. The pepper in it has me concerned!! Does it taste peppery?

Been watching the 'today' wedding on tv - nice change from all the Katrina news.

Not much of news here today - weather high is 68 deg. Fall has arrived! Good crisp apple sounds good. We have three apple trees in the back yard, but since we never spray, they go to waste. The golden delicious (spX) has an absolute ton of apples this year. I snagged one with no worm holes and it was wonderful!! Neighbor makes apple cider and it is outstanding. I heat it up and can't get enough.

Off to sweat a bit!!

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm still getting ready to leave tomorrow a.m; I hope by 6 a.m.
I had to root the coleus Sugarweed sent me. When they arrived, the box had been bashed at one end and although they were only 3 days in transit and Sugarweed had really done a great job of wrapping damp paper towels around the bottoms and enclosing that in plastic, they were terribly wilted. I got them out immediately and put them in water to revive and most of them finally did after a couple of days, even though some of them had some crispy leaves!
I've still got more cleaning to do to my station wagon. I can't believe how filthy I had let it get from hauling soil, Black Kow, sand for cement and pine straw. I took it to a car wash, but there was very little soap for the washing cycle, so I switched to the brush/foam cycle and no foam. Moved to another bay and the problem was worse. So I basically rinsed my car a lot. The owner of the car wash also owns a store about a block away so I went down there and got my money back. I used Armour All everywhere there was vinyl. But the real surprise was the seats. I decided to use carpet shampoo on a couple of bad spots on the seats. Lo and behold! the seats aren't gray, they're blue! LOL. So I did both the seats in the front.
Thought I was finally through when I realized the area of the radio/tape player and drink holder and ash tray was so filthy that everything sticks. That next in a few minutes.
Then I need to run some last-minute errands.
Last night I used a facial hair removal for the peach fuzz that looks so bad when make-up gets on it. Even with the minimum of 4 minutes, the stuff burned my face. I was afraid I was going to have a rash but my face is OK today. I'm trying to look decent since I haven't seen my brother in 10 years and I'm sure I've aged. Since he's older by 4 years, but always looks so young and fit, I don't want to scare him to death.

good morning, GOB'ers
long time, no post from me - but, i've been trying to keep
up with you amazingly busy people every day. who would
think that everyday lives could be so captivating!?!
my everyday life lately has revolved around getting the
dh ready to move to virginia, to his new job.he leaves
on monday. he's got to set up a whole new household there, and i have seized the opportunity to get rid of a lotta extraneous stuff that's
sitting around unused & collecting dust. i can't believe
how much duplicate kitchen stuff i've been able to
purge. why did i have all these duplicate bottles of spices?
no longer, tho - my pantry is organized & reduced to only
what i actually need. nirvana! anyway, he'll be going up
there with a ragtag assortment of furniture i've been dying
to get rid of, but can't throw away. i'm going to like
this minimalist living :) i plan to spend the winter stripping
wallpaper, ripping up carpet, and re-doing every room
anew. it will be so much easier with all of this stuff out
of here.

viola ann - nice to meet you :) i'm a "retired" non-profit
person, also. we built affordable housing for folks
who earned about 60% of the area median income.
i loved the work, and did it for a long time, but reached
my stress threshold - resigned last december. grants
and other funding were getting more and more
difficult to obtain, and gov't funding was cut
drastically. i don't think they've had any housing
starts since i left. loved the pics of your friend's
gardens. so inspiring!

defoe - my absolute best cleaning sprees happen
when i'm mad about something. all that negative
energy's gotta go somewhere! i got fed up with
being the designated cleaner, tho, and hired
a cleaning crew to come in twice a month. it's worth
the $ to avoid those "mexican standoffs" :) haven't
had one in 3 years! now, my "mads" result in
organized closets or a day of roto-tilling with
a vengeance :)

bal - you are, indeed, the quintessential renaisance man.
my dh runs a close second, but he would never attempt
baking! i love to bake, but everyone here has sworn off
the goodies - so i enjoy at least looking at your yummy
pictures :) we get those realtor solicitations all the
time, but they're swiftly added to the recycling bin.
although, i DO have a price!

daisy - oh, those choco chip cookies made me drool,
literally. good thing it didn't land on my keyboard! i haven't
had a good ole choco chip cookie for two years! i need
to start baking again this winter, even if i have to take
the goodies to the neighbors or the homeless shelter.

all of those "falling down" stories were great, and i feel
like much less a klutz now! i've got a few gems of my
own, but i'll just let that theme rest :) let's just say i've got
a steep set of mossy deck stairs ...

my kitchen garden is built! i still have to find some more
large cobblestones to complete the edges, but it's dug
and tilled and amended with heaps of leaf compost and
chicken manure and is tucked in for the winter. it's a
traditional american/colonial 4-square garden, with a large circle
where the paths intersect. i think i'm going to do some
mosaic work in the circle ... waiting till inspiration hits.
and i'm looking for some picket fencing to enclose the
whole thing. when i get my latest roll of film developed,
i'll post some pics if anyone's interested. it's been a
project long in the making - spent a couple of years
just reading about kitchen gardens & potagers before
i sprang into action during the first few days after katrina.
anger & frustration = roto-tilling with a vengeance!

anyone have any experience with bedbugs? i thought they
were gone, like smallpox, but no. my daughter's apartment
in new york city has been invaded. evidently, it's an epidemic
in nyc. she is one miserable girl, let me tell you. the landlord
has sent an exterminator in, but it didn't do much good at all.
she had to throw out her bed, mattress, and most of the stuff
in her room and she's storing her clothes in the freezer!
she's been sleeping in the school library for heaven's sake.
someone told her the only way to be rid of them for good, is
to throw away everything you own that can't be washed in hot water
and move! she's going to see if there's any spare beds in the
university housing so she can get a few nights of decent sleep.
she started her internship at MTV this week and she's loaded
with red bite whelts and exhausted. she's got a full class schedule
and a part-time job as well. "don't let the bedbugs bite" ... i thought
that was just a cute little saying.

okay, off to pack up more stuff for the hubbie. have a great day
everyone!

marsha

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Marsha,
Have the exterminator use bombs in the apt. They work better than just spraying.
My maybe future-daughter-in-law in AZ has problems with bugs and the exter. both sprayed and bombed.
Carol (DR)

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Wow ! Daisy and DF, choc chips and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. How much better could it get ?
DF, hope MIL is going to be OK. A 'second opinion' is always helpful.
M5, the 75K for the kids house sounds amazing. Couldn't find anything around here for near that price. Bet it sells quickly.

Sarv, it's rainy and cool here too, just when I have to be outside removing windows. Should clear up later. The chili does sound good. You can't beat handmade chili and a good hunk of cornbread, with some cheese and onions and avocado on the side. Re: pepper taste. yes, you can taste the pepper, and there is a slight nip to them but not enough that you can say they are 'hot'. The lemon glaze offsets it to some extent.

Marsha, what a great post. Don't envy the move, but it does tend to make one question the need for so much of the "stuff" we accumulate. After 30 years in our home, and with my penchant for saving useless 'stuff' and collecting, moving to anywhere but a landfill site would be catastrophic. The bedbugs sound awful. Hope she gets rid of them.

DW left @ 6:00 for the border. The Canadian/US border up at Peace Arch Park is to be closed from 7:00 for several hours to do some kind of work, shifting traffic to an adjacent lane. They need to catch the Tsawassen Ferry at 10:00 so it's going to be a close call. This gives me four days to get the last four windows installed and clean up any messy work sites. I love these 'alone' times. My mantra is "it's easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission". So what mischief can I get into while she's gone??? Have to remove shingles, shorten each window opening by 14 inches and re-side the exterior, guess that will be mischief enough.

[ moving to anywhere but a landfill site would be catastrophic ] * ROFLmao

I resemble that remark. A fact which is become evident as I ponder moving each item back into my spotlessly new kitchen.

I'm a clutterbug sort, with collections of nearly everything, and an amazing collection of small tables for them to rest upon. I suddenly realize I've become the old lady with the myriad of spindly side tables so covered with stuff there is no place to set a cup of coffee.

I lost this thread, I'm back, I'm reading to catch up - and now I'm going to rethink my kitchen/life/clutter. /;-)~ ~Blooms

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

LOL, Blooms and Robert! I have stuff out the yin-yang too. Too much, actually.

Julie, thread is getting long even just after a few short days.

"stuff" purging is a liberating experience!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Can you imagine what it was like to move from a 10 room house to a 5 one? 5 bedrooms for two, One library with a 1000 books, for nothing, a 14x26 dining room for an alcove dining, a kitchen and breakfast area 14X26 for a 10 x10 kitchen, not to mention three bathrooms, two now, and a pantry for none. Do I ever miss all that space, but many of the furniture I can see at my childrens home and what was left here, but it was hard to part with so many things, especially the books that I donated to our library, also the beautiful gardens I had to leave behind and worked for 50 years.
Guess everyone talking of getting rid of things made me sort of sad.
Maria

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Now I'm going to have a lemon pepper biscotti to console myself for playing Very Bad Golf. Phewwww. Kids haven't seen the offer yet, but the realtor hinted it might be over the asking price. Looking at similarly priced houses theirs looks far better, plus DS gutted the joint, so it has new drywall, new furnace, new kitchen counters and cabinets, tiled bathroom (our leftover tile from building and doing our bathrooms) and they've made the yard so nice. All the others available in that price range are either in bad neighborhoods or in terrible condition. Plus they are throwing in newer appliances -less than four years old. Realtor also thought there might be a "bidding war" if they show it again before they accept this offer. Told DIL he better call me tonight with a detailed description of the offer. Frankly, with the small amount of square footage in that house, I wouldn't last a week in winter when you have to stay inside.

DH took a vacation day so he's been out digging up multiplying mums, and putting in some of the perennials we bought last weekend. It rained all night here, so every thing got a good soaking with Mother Nature's elixer. Made a big salad for our lunch. Hoping to catch a cheap movie this afternoon. I should maybe go out and help him....that would speed things up.

Digs, we know not everybody has the time to keep up with our daily musings, but we are happy to have you join us whenever you can. The kitchen garden sounds wonderful, and we would love to see pictures. The only problem for infrequent visitors is trying to catch up with all the posts since the last visit. We do tend to go on ....

Sarv, are you feeling better now? I was over in badseed's house hunting/buying thread, and she wondered if you had gotten tired of keeping up with the continuing saga. They actually have a closing date set. It's in the daylily forum if you've forgotten.

Bedbugs!! How ghastly. They are a plague, and apparently recently even high priced hotels have gotten them. I met them in Baltimore in 1943 when we moved there to be with my dad who was in the service. My stepmother was horrified, and I slept on a cot with the legs stuck in tin cans filled with kerosene. But, little did they know, they were in the bedding. The walls were alive with roaches if you turned on the light in the middle of the night. We moved within days and I had never been scrubbed so hard or so long! It was a good thing that all our clothing and things were shipped and hadn't arrived yet. Still makes me itch to think of it.

I tossed a lot of cupboard collections of useless stuff this week too. If the house deal goes through for the kids, I'm selling my green leather sofa, and donating the overstuffed one to them. Out goes the chair that Max has shredded to the point it looks like a yak, and I'm going to wait for a furniture sale and get three pieces, sofa, loveseat and chair and then initiate total warfare on the feline that dares to set foot near it. They are at the point now where if I pick up the spritzer bottle and point it and go Hisssss!! they take off like rockets. Too late to save that poor chair though. I had it in the den and DH just let him scratch away so it's ruined.

Maria, I lost five closets and a bedroom, a huge family room with a fireplace, and a big kitchen when we built.....I still miss the closets!!! It is so hard to scale down when you've had more than enough space for all your things. People think this is a big house, but really, it's just a ranch, that was built on sloping ground. Half my basement is garage, so I don't even have storage down there. I don't even try to keep books any more, all the current shelves are full and there's no room to add more. But we got lotsa garages........!!

Out to help dig. Or point and suggest, which is what I do best LOL.

Aria - I'm confused - are the pics where you live now??? Looks beautiful to me and the back is gorgeous... You wouldn't want a big house anymore would you? All that cleaning!! I've often drooled over the big new ones being built, but then I think of all the furniture to fill all the rooms and all the dusting- toilets to clean, and I'll be satisfied with what I have. Been here 34 yrs - it's home.

M5 - no I am not tired of Chele's saga - just wishing it was over for her!! I feel for her going thru all that!!
Seems like she is being jerked around!!

Bal - don't read this -it is a DH complaint!!
Grrrr, I am SOOOO mad. I made a big pot of chili - had chedder cheese muffins all set and DH decides he is going fishing with DS. Now I don't care if they go fishing at all, but when I said 'hey could I tag along (I love to fish), they looked at each other and said, ya we'll take you some OTHER time. Then they hopped in the truck and roared away - neither of them making any eye contact. Now the background on this is: On our camping vacation, DH boat wouldn't run, so for ten days he fished with DS- I couldn't go as the boat was too small to take everyone. So I stayed behind EVERY day. Oh, man, wait until DH gets home - he is gonna get blasted....I'll take that 2x4 someone was using and not only use it on the head, but his fanny too.... there was no reason I couldn't go tonight. I'm thinking bad thoughts let me tell ya....

M5- how do you multiply mums this time of the year? I thought that was a spring thing> let me know..

Sun did come out, but the highest it got was 67 deg. Still feels like fall to me!! Think I'll get out my pumpkin stuff and put it out - maybe that will entertain me!!

Time for some chili and fresh, warm biscuits- pull up a chair everyone!! I'll even play a game or two of cards after dinner.

Aw, Sarv, wished my calla lilies got there today like they were supposed to, to make your day better. Sorry.
I would love to have some chili and play cards with ya!
Am glad you have sun. Here in Oregon, it is "raining, pouring, etc". So I may be inside tonight as I had plans to do certain things in the garden, geez, too bad!

It was a long hard week. We pressure cleaned a roof, house walls, patio, carport, driveway and sidewalk. And that was on Monday. We then painted the house and finished up doing one coat on the carport floor today. The "Tile Red" was way too bright and detracted from the front door that we painted red. So we go back tomorrow and subtle down the carport floor, probably sandstone color.

Man was it hot this week. Yesterday we worked til 4 (that's late for us in this heat) and my DS and I were snipping and crabbing at each other by the end of the day. Stopped off and picked up a 12 pack of BUD then chilled out for the night.

Today we were off the job by 11:30 this morning. aahhhhhh

DS came home, glued the weather stripping back down around the rear door of my van, test tinted a can of paint and he was going to glue my closet door together. It's a louvred bi-fold. I noticed the other night it was loose at the joints so I took care not to open and close it much. Well today, it was open and blocking my dresser, so I carefully went to close it and half the slats fell out! I can't even imagine trying to put that thing back together again. I know, it's not my house or my closet door, and you can call me strange, but I don't really like having an open closet gape at me.

All right, I know get over it, I am about to become a pioneer and there's a lot worse than can and probably will happen in the next 6 months.

So a couple days before the landlord broke his news to me about this house, he came over to fix some sprinkler heads. He took one away altogether supposedly to get a new "nipple" or something obscene like that. Well he never came back and now I have to hand water the entire garden with ($$$$ water)

Well, it won't be long til I can only complain to me about my own shortcomings. But I can take.

I don't know what's the matter with my brain, just finished posting and forgot to send it, has anyone ever done that before???

The first picture, Sarv, is our old farm house built in 1840, the next one shows the back of the new one built 4 years ago to accomodate my DH wheel chair. I miss the big house even though I know it is a lot more work but it would not be so bad now what with me flopping alone in it instead of the 6 we used to be.

It is raining a lot from Ophilia, hope we will not get a lot of wind, they say the worst will be on Cape Cod, that is not to far from where I live.
