I got my name from a friend of mine. We are both extremely alike in most every way; Our astrology charts are very nearly identical, we experienced many of the same childhood experiences (we both almost drowned, both had satin ribbons for comfort [mine was red, hers was pink], abusive older brothers, military fathers, etc, etc, the list goes on...) So we started referring to each other as Sybil, after the poor woman who had Multiple Personality Disorder.
Margaret
(By the way, my friend's name is Margaret also)
Yes, I know...Weird, but true...
Explain your user name
Margaret,
My name is Sandy and my best friend if 20 years is named Sandi. People do look at you strange when you announce them.
Blessings,
Sandy
All of this has been so interesting! I love everyone's explanation! It's amazing the imaginations we all have - another thing that makes DG great!
Sandy - I too appreciate your positive attitude and your involvement on DG - you're a "shining star in the fermement!" (and if you know what movie that quote came from - I'll be really impressed!).
I'm still debating the change to BetsyBug - something feels right about it for some reason......
Marcia
If everything gets changed (past posts) I vote for changing to Betsybug. I won't lose you because even my DG email will be from that name. Go for it.
Thank you so much for the compliment Betsybug. I love people and I guess it shows even on a computer screen. I am proud Jesus gave me a compassionate heart. I would rather spend my time loving people nad pumping them up than gardening.
There is a lady at our church that is about 68 or 70. She is on a walker and can not speak but a little. She had a very bad strike before I met her. I always try to go and hug her. First thing I say is "Hello Beautiful". She always smiles especially with her eyes.
Little things mean so much to someone. And to know that you feel the love and caring means alot to me. I know I feel it from all of you. In the prayer forum with all the prayers for my brother, and in the other prayers I have ask for. Today my day has started off with a bang. I will feel the effects of all these sweet words all day. As we face possibly loosing our house I will have a smile from these posts.
Marcia, I don't know the movie it came from but would like to.
My daddy always called me skinny minnie. I am not sure where he got that as I was born at
150 lbs and have grown up since then, physically not mentally to a whopping 190+. Won't
tell what the plus stands for. ;o) lol
I wouldn't change my screen name as I like telling every one about my love for Jesus. Better yet how though so undeserving He still loves me.
Again thank you all,
Blessings ^8^
Sandy
Well my name is Jodi but everyone calls me Jo. My last name starts with S.....hence the Jos. I am not positive, but if I remember correctly when I set up my account the name Jo was either taken or it wouldn't accept a 2 letter user name so I just added the S to the Jo. After I had been lurking a while I noticed that roadrunners name is actually Jo, so in the end it worked out for me!
Back when I used to work (HAH!), I was a computer repair person, and would travel to people's houses and troubleshoot their computers, order the part needed, then return and put it in. While driving around one day, I was struggling to find a new name, since I was going to join the HTML world with a new server, Mindspring, after using Panix for years (it was an old system, and didn't have html at all). And I came up with zoomchkchk, which means that I zoom to a person's house, check their computer, then fix it and check again. I guess it's really zoom-check-check. Although there's an occassional person who thinks its zoom-chick (chuckle).
I don't get on the computer forums because my experience kinda stops at Windows 98 SE. You can be ticked off all you want, but to my mind, its the best version of Windows out there. XP is a favorite virus magnet, 2000 isn't based on DOS, and ME is just lame. Sorry if I offended anyone. They're just personal opinions. But I'm fairly wonderful at solving "old computer" problems!
I just turned 60 in February, and feel its kinda neat! I never thought I'd make it this far.
Susan.
Egads! That sounds tremendously unfriendly!!! I'm retired, and I love plants, and I just about never touch repairs anymore. And it was a long time ago that I chose that name and just never changed it. Sorry everyone!
Susan.
Hah! No need to apologize, zoomchk. I, too, am a "dropout" from the computer world and can certainly relate to some of your comments. I'm not retired yet, but I did give up computer repair (after 20 years) back in '91. These days, I'm a chemical dependency counselor (I try to "repair" human CPU's LOL). I did mainframe repair ala Control Data Corp. I was so burned out on computers of any kind that I just recently bought my own system so I could use internet. Gardening is my form of therapy (along with my 6 cats).
At times, I feel like I truly fit my name. heehee
Well - I did it. I've requested that my user name be changed to BetsyBug! Don't know when it will take effect - but I'll let everyone know.
M.
I do like the name BetsyBug! Congrats!
Hey Jos...thanks for remembering me! Want to know something else funny...My nickname as a child was JODY! We seem to have a lot in common. Jo...Jody...Dinkie (another one) Andrew's Grandma....OH...but if you are going to write me a check...please use Betty Jo!! LOL
I like BetsyBug too. When I lived in NY, one of the guys I worked w/ called me lovebug and my dau was littlebug. When I was preg w/2nd, she was babybug. Just reminds me of good times! Have fun getting used to your new name. Hmmm maybe I should change mine to RoseBug... ha ha Have a great day everyone ~ Suzi :)
ALL - Mbock is not BetsyBug!
Marcia .. didn't you MEAN to say .. that, Mbock is .. NOW 'BetsyBug' ? ! ? ..
- Magpye
Say what?
LOL
Its funny you mention the check writing Jo. I am forever signing things at work and I never use my full name its either Jo or just plain J. I can't count the times I have signed a personal check and just by habit used Jo, most of the time I have to write another check.
It really is ironic that my nickname for Jodi is Jo and your nickname for Jo was Jody!
Welcome BetsyBug!! LOL
Jos...I always used BJM to initial my work...still do. Jo
As our last naame is 13 letters, around 6 years ago I went to the bank and changed my signature to just my initials. SEA is so much easier.
Welcome BetsyBug.
Blessings,
Sandy ^8^
Sandy,
Love the ^8^. It took me awhile to find its 'wings'. I kept overlooking it. Linda
Thanks RDT. I was wondering if it really looked like an angel. When I sign my name on a note to DH, I follow my nickname with an exclaimation point but only on the bottom I draw a heart instead of just the dot. He told me once he loved that and I couldn't use it for anyone but him.
As I can't make one of those I saw what I thought looked like an angel and then decided to add it to my signature. Glad you like it.
Blessings,
Sandy ^8^
Bet, ya'll talk funny, too.
Chile man hunh? tha's funny - some of the best restaurant mexican food I ever had was in either Shelburne or Shelburne Falls in Mass - we were on an expedition from Albany to historic Deerfield. We had a great trip.

My husband and I both play online games and often he'll start to play a game and it looks intresting and I'll want to give it a try before I buy another copy. So I just make a character on one of his accounts. Since his nickname or account name is always Aragon I tried to make it sound more female and would name mine Araness. So now online I'm Ara, and it drives him nuts that he's lost his name. Before that I was Sinjin or just would just use my name, Saint. But it seems that is a popular alias because of some movie or tv show by the same name. Sooo I answer to Saint, Ara, Araness or even Hey You!
I love the way people came up w/ their names on here. Mine is easy once explained but very misleading as many have found.
I needed an new screen name and could not think of anything so my friend Vic asked 1 question. Name 2 things you like and they have to be the first things that pop in your head. I said the moon and Texas(where I was born & raised). So, celestial for the heavens at night and Texas for home. The funny thing is you have to look where I'm really living right now. Hence the confusion for some.
I've only been on this site for a couple of weeks now. I never thought I would be interested in gardening, but with a new home and beds that are begging for flowers and shrubs, I decided I needed to find some information before starting. I found this site and I'm really enjoying all the stuff I'm learning.
Well back to why I started this post......Carrie is my name and the 0400 is my son's date of birth (April of 2000). I've used this ID for many years on other sites and it's easy to remember. I noticed others were posting their ages, I'm 26. So, hoping I'll have many years ahead of me for successful (wishful thinking!?!?) gardening. :)
Here is a great BIG welcome Carrie. Glad to have you here on Daves Garden.
You will meet alot of wonderful people here and find alot of information. You will also aquire
some addiction! Certain plants are very addictive. When you see them you will know which
ones they are when you lay eyes on them.
Again Welcome.
Blessing,
Sandy ^8^
Sandy is right! Now you have been warned...a very addictive place...so pull up a nice lawn chair and sit a spell. Jo
Thank you for the nice welcome. :) And I would have to agree that this place is addictive. I've spend hours already on this site looking up information and reading many of the posts. Also I've started buying many different plants for the yard. I'm so excited for this weekend as I'm going to go buy some more!!!
I'm new too and after one afternoon found it to be money well spent. My name is Nancy Beth but my dad always called me NannyBee so I just had to use the name. Everyone things I'm a grandma named Bea. While I am a grandma to the two cutest little 2 1/2 year olds twins in the world, they call me grandma. My dad died young and I always love being remembered as NannyBee. My husband usually calls me dumb bunny because of all the things I forget and do but I like be remembered for a younger time and be nannybee.
LOL I like nannybee I think it's cute..Beats Pumpkin Pie, which is what my DH calls me.
Yeah, I like nannybee as well :-) and it's got the part of my name I'm missing, 'bee', lol. Mine's kbuzz829 for Katherine Buzzbee (not real spelling) and my b-day 8/29.
This thread is a hoot! My real name is Kathleen - the family called me Kathy all my life, but it never felt RIGHT, so one day I just started using my real name. However, sometimes it's a bit long and at work I would sign memos "K" with a circle around it. Lots of people starting calling me K and this was when I met my husband -- he's called me K ever since. One of his friends started calling me Kaper for some reason -- don't know why -- and C is the first letter of my last name, so my online name is KaperC.
Yuska, I had to chuckle about your nickname, it's so sweet. I wouldn't use the one my dad gave me, though, which was 'stinkpot.' :-)
Congratulations BetsyBug!
I just threw some words together. lol Nothing fancy and it just stuck with me.
