In 2000, I needed new email name, w/o my real name in it. Asked the girls (now 7 + 19) for ideas. Lo and behold, the younger was watching sleeping beauty. I love roses, and thought, why not?! Finally in my own home now (bought late 2002) and will have about 35 here after I plant the 10 waiting on the porch. Want more!! Plain was taken, so put on year I graduated, 74. I am also new here (April 9) and found this thread tonight. Great seeing the stories of how/when/etc. If I ever get through the current threads and forums, maybe I can get to the old threads... Day by day, work just keeps getting in the way!! LOL ~ Happy gardening!! ~ Suzi :)
Edited to clarify bought home in 2002, not that wrote this then... sorry

Oh, I thought Aiden was hubby's name, duh.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Littlefireyone, that's my youngest son's name too! Except we spell it Aden. I never knew that was the meaning of it......but he sure lives up to it too!! LOL

orange county, CA

I love Jesus and wanted to share that. Although sometime when I have had a bad day or I try to fix things myself, worry, or snap at my husband, It really brings to light just whether I am worthy to even type it that day. It brings things to light when you type to. Ouch :o)
But I guess I am not perfect, but he is so gracious to forgive.

1999 was when my friend introduced me to the computer and the internet. So I added 99 to the end.

Blessings and have a great day,
Sandy

Mine is my business name. When I was a member a couple of years ago, I went by Waddles which was a high school nickname (Jennifer Lopez ain't got nothin' on me! ha ha). Waddles was just too embarassing!

Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

Vashur is the *dragish* translation of the Ultima Dragons name Tempest. I got addicted to computer games way back in the early nineties before there was a www in front of internet addresses. My first game was Dune which I completed during one Christmas vacation. My nephew had the game Ultima 7 which he let me try. He didn't have a clue what he was starting. I got stuck in the game towards the end and had to find a source for help. The only internet service around here at the time was AOL which I used until a regular service started up in 1994. I found the Ultima Dragons through AOL to get help on the game but had to get a real internet service before I could actually join their group. (AOL wouldn't allow telnetting at that point in time.)

This is a fun thread, the stories "why" are great!

Mine is what I always said to my special cat, Bebe.
It made me feel good just to say "Hello, Bebe" to him, and he was usually the first of my pets to greet me whenever I came home or got up in the morning.
He died two summers ago, and we will miss him always. Bebe was definitely a character.
(I know some of you have already seen him, but here he is again...)
Thanks, Jackie

Hellobebe,

He is one beautiful cat. You can tell buy the look in his eyes he's a character.

Love your name. When I was pregnant 29 yrs ago. I always said to my DH we were having a bebe. We would just laugh. It was cute. Makes me smile to see your name.

Blessings,
Sandy

We had a cat like that too. He was all white and his name was Slugger. I can see that same quality in Bebe's eyes! Makes me smile. :-)

Kennewick, WA(Zone 6b)

Jackie
Bebe looks just like our cat Scooter. : )

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks so much for the compliments!..
Sandy, ...your "Bebe" is still your baby! Glad he made you smile. LOL
Way2dumb & FlowerFan....I'd love to see pics of Slugger & Scooter.
It's amazing how wonderful our pets are, and how much joy, entertainment and unconditional love they bring us.

Mine's boring....M stands for Marcia and Bock is my last name. If I wanted to rename myself - I'd probably do something like catgeek (cat lover / computer geek!) or something similar. When I signed up I wasn't in a very creative mood I guess. MBock is what I use for everything.....

DH calls me MDarlin' (middle name is Darlene) - but only when he's not mad at me - LOL! ;-)

Father-in-law, when's he's joking with me calls me MarciaLeon - now THAT would be original huh? (It's a suthern thang!)

Maybe I should ask Terry about changing my name! Any advice?

OH = I just thought of something. My Mom's name was Betty and her grandmother who she loved dearly always called her little BetsyBug! That would be something neat and would kind of make me think of Mom everytime at DG! (She's been gone 15 years).

Well, Gardennuttz is something my hubby says I go every spring.. so figured it fit me pretty well...

I have often been told I think outside the box, that thinking my way would land me in a pile of trouble, that I'd have to be crazy to think like I do and that I am sometimes guided by the Muses into dangerous territory. So when I needed to come up with a screen name it didn't take long to find one that all my friends and family agreed suited me. Plus I love the letter Z!

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

And all this time I thought it was pronounced Zany-Moose! lol

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Rhymes with silly goose.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

henryr10, that actually might be equally fitting if you had ever heard me try to sing!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

One of my screen names on yahoo is whydidthechickencrosstheroad1955. I don't know where that came from. It just popped into my head. Our last name is 13 letters long (half the (alphabet) and I guess It wasn't long enough for me.

And my husband was born in 1955. Well he was but not to lie here I was too. You know women and their age. :o) LOL

Mbock I like your name. I feel as though I have known you for years after our first talk on the phone the other night. I love Betsybug, but I am afraid if you changed it I might lose you. And I sure wouldn't want to do that.

Why don't you sign your posts Betsybug. Just a thought.

Sandy

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

I love that ' whydidthechickencrosstheroad1955' nick, ilovejesus99! LOL What in the world did folks use to abbreviate that for chatting with you, though? ;)

And I think Betsybug would be a great nick for ya, Marcia. Our DG Admins are always open to changing folks nicks once they're here, but it's kinda on a one shot deal. If you like it, request it! All of your prior postings will show that new nick, so you won't be 'lost' to us. :)

Donna

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I used it for the e-mail groups, but I never chatted with it. Now you have me curious to try. If I do I will let you know.

It has been along time since I was on there with ilovejesus99 in the christain chat rooms. Some have strong preference he different religions would about their religion. I don't believe in argueing religion and so I just kinda lost interest.

I am on here so much can't find time for even the chat here as I love to read the boards and trade. DG chat would be my home as I love everybody here so much. :o) lol

I am on here so much it is hard to make myself check my regular e-mail. I am pecker and a scratcher when it comes to typing. so it takes me forever .

No pun intended.

Blessings,
Sandy

Sandy, I like the fact that you're mostly on here and always providing supportive comments to one and all. And that you can accept and take a gentle tease as such! :)

I only feel sorry for the sites you've visited in the past but are not still active in. Your contributions don't go unnoticed!

Oh my gosh :o ) You are so good for my ego. I have goose bumps as that is one of the greatest compliments I have ever been paid.

Actually the greatest was when my GD was 3 1/2 years olds. It was when I could not figure out how to work a friends remote control for Dish network. My friend decided not to come home when I went to see her (50 miles from here) and introduce her To both GDs. When I finally got it to work, she jumped up and said "I knew you could do it". I flew across the room and squeezed her. Wow! I did not come down to earth for hours. That much faith in me at 3 1/2. I felt like I could do anything.

You are refreshing to my soul.

Thank you,
Sandy ^8^
