I chose BlueNikko because 4 years ago when I was getting married, my flower lady showed me a picture of a Nikko Blue Hydrangea. I knew absolutely nothing about flowers! I fell in love with both the color and the flower, and that beautiful blue-violet became the color scheme of my wedding. Since then I have been fantasizing about a house with a yard just filled with it. So now we have our house with the yard, and I'm thinking, I better learn how to garden so I can take care of these hydrangeas I'm going to fill my yard with. Now that I am actually becoming a *gardener* (gasp!), every day I have a new favorite. It is truly amazing. But the Nikko Blue is what started it all ( I have one small one that hasn't even bloomed yet). Here is me with my Sophie-Girl. She is 10 months old.
Edited to say I changed my username from bluenikko to RachaelBee. My first name and my last initial with a twist of nature.

What an absolutely adorable picture!! Just what I needed this morning. Welcome to DG Bluenikko! You'll love it here and I'm sure you'll find out everything you need to know about hydrangeas.

A big ol 'hearty' welcome .. to DG, to ya bluenikko !!

One day you'll have to consider giving us a lil hint of that fantastic sounding, 4 year old 'Nikko Blue' themed wedding of yours .. on a special thread, here on DG .. to share with the rest of us ol 'nosey' (*clearin' throat; 'curious') .. DGers !!!!

Ohhh myyy .. what a most superb 'spayshall' photo to have stamped in your memory, upon your heart, and your pc. And, now, 'freshly' planted on ours .. and have profoundly enjoyed your sharing your lil darlin' Sophie, thru DG.com!!

Oh hun, what else can enrich our lives, so totally bless our hearts, and render us most vulnerable .. than our children .. (wellllll, with the lil exception .. of our grands and great-grandies, a lil later on .. of course!) .. heehee ..

Thanks for all the greetings! I forgot to say, "but you can call me Rachael." I still dont know enough about flowers to name what was in my bouquet, but here a pic of it. The purples and blues were in all the wedding flowers.

I picked my name because I live in the Bluegrass State. The 4/25 is my anniversary date. I had used it on Ebay and bluegrassmom on the Lily Auction and other sites.

This has been fun to read.

User name is trois, real name is Trois. I will be 74 in July. Dw was just 79 in April.

I don't know why my mother named me Trois, except it had been in the family for many years, and I guess it was my turn. It's not bad though because I am always the only one with this name.

Queen Creek, AZ(Zone 9a)

Your name is very unique. I like it.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

How do you pronounce it, Trois? Like the French? It is truly a unique forename -- do you sign it with a flourish? It seems made for it. :-)

Kirksville, MO(Zone 5a)

I like this question ...

Mine is the name my Grandfather used to put on letters to my Grandmother during the war so that she would know everything was okay with him.

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

It's pronounced like Troyce, not the French Twaa. My signature is not legable, but is a flourish. As I tell people, if it is legable, it is a forgery.

My husband's signature is unreadable as well. He has said the same thing in regards to being able to read it. I once said to him to try to neaten up his handwriting. He said why, then they wouldn't know it was me. He's def got a point. I leave him alone about it from now on. lol

Walkerton, VA(Zone 7a)

My name is Bob. I grow all my vegetables and most herbs in raised beds. Raisedbedbob popped into my head when I was joining up.

Queen Creek, AZ(Zone 9a)

How creative!

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

humm now I know who to ask about a raised bed garden for next year.

Walkerton, VA(Zone 7a)

Just do a search on raised beds, araness, and you'll see lots of discussions from the past.

I'm cinemike because I call myself Mike and I have worked in the cinema all my life and am quite well known in that little world for my passionate love of cinema.

I really like your name Mike.

I knew as soon as I found DG that I had to join. It was in January and I had a bad case of spring fever. I was obsessed, rooting all sorts of plants and was enjoying much success with shrubs. Twiggybuds just popped into my head. I was in such a hurry to subscribe, I thought no further. I'm neither twiggy or budding. I just enjoyed my 54th with my 4 dogs, 3 cats, my 2 only children (18 & 31) and 2 grandsons.

Welcome!

Thought I had seen this thread once before (afflicted with Old Timer's?) but maybe not. I use meezersfive because that's what we have...five siamese cats... Usually when I have to pick a name for email or whatever I go into instant brainfreeze but I've started using variations of this (meezers5, meezersfour which was before we went totally insane and got the fifth, etc. ) and when I found Dave's Garden....that was the name I used. Not too creative like some but easy to remember~ Fell in love with this site the minute I found it, so many helpful and knowledgable people here. Come visit us at the Coffee and ... thread, we provide low calorie cyber treats with the coffee.....Here's 80% of the gang, soaking up sunshine. Yes, they are spoiled, I mentioned that we're nuts...didn't I??

Meezers5 - so glad that someone else out there has 5 kitties in one household too! As long as there's someone else doing the same....then we're NOT nuts (or maybe we are, in a good way)! :)

Hi!!! to all and what a wonderful thread---have really enjoyed meeting all of you.
Well, I live in Denver, Colo., the" mile high city"---hence, the milehighgin.
My name is Virgina and my nick name is Gini and I'm 63 years old.
Great imaginations out there, love it all.
Fairly new to DG but have learned so much and realize what a wonderful group of people you all are.
gini

MHG, glad you explained that.. even though I knew Denver is the Mile High City I thought you meant something else because of the 'gin' part. ROFL

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

lol..me too! I thought she was a sky lush! *blush*

Golden, CO(Zone 5b)

Yippee! More Coloradans! Welcome Gini.

Hang around here for a while, and you'll have other meanings for "gin". We're a nutty bunch.

Denver, CO

Oops!!!! never thought about the "gin" part. No, lush, here except the "lush" green of the lawn. tee hee
Howdy Terre--love the Golden area. Close to the "gamblin" smile
gini

Golden, CO(Zone 5b)

We can cure that "lush" green lawn too. We'll have you digging it up to plant flowers in no time!

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

hmmm...well...I am what you would call an older 'indigo' child and I think of all the animals in this world, I closely resemble a phoenix (play on spelling). No matter what negative things happen in my life, I rise a stronger and better person.

Hi folks! I joined DG long before I subscribed & really joined.
I just used my first name. I've really grown to enjoy the forums
and have been posting quite a bit lately. After working 'til I
can hardly move on my property, its fun to see what's new in the
rest of the gardening world and use no more muscles but my
fingers.

But it sure is pretty outside! I gotta get out there again...

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

bawaaaahahahahah -
how about them apples Gini? TX and NM had you pegged from the gitgo!

my turn - milehighgin : that could be a euphemism for an EXTRA Dry Martini :)

glad you chimed in !!!

Denver, CO

Oooooooh, 8ftbed----don't tell all my Secret's.
In fact, I think I'll change that to "Mile HIgh Zima"---ummmmmmm
