you you you ANIMAL TRADER!!!

LOL!!

Gotta love where we are.

(Zone 5b)

I check in at GW occasionally and have a trade list there. I even update it now and then, but I don't know much about the politics there so I'm almost afraid to post too much. rikerbear they told you why you got booted? and after you got booted you were able to get back onto GW?

Can they even do that for just no reason? I mean, if someone really wanted to make an issue of it and could afford to push it?

This thread is quite a roller-coaster of a ride. And - it's making me crave another trade!

Pickens, SC(Zone 7a)

Yes m'am. I was booted for agreeing with a fellow that we needed a rating system to stop some of the bad traders. He said that a web site that didnt protect its members was not doing the right thing. I agreed. Poof, everytime you try to sign on you go to Disney. That poor guy is still probably riding on space mountain !!

I honestly didnt mean any harm and was reinstated after begging. Of course that was before I tried DG, so now I dont really care. I spent 2 hours on the phone with McAffie thinking I had a virus before someone that I was trading with told me what was happening. There are some great people over there but it is a hitler establishment.

I dont hate having a rating system. I do hate that it is necessary but I think alot of Dave for caring about what happens in his garden.

Spike has insecurities that show when he bans people for no other reason than his fear. Of course, I can see why he'd be insecure with DG out there to be found.... :)~

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I was able to get back one only because of a very sweet petition presented to Spike on my behalf. There are some very nice people over there too. :-) ........but I like it better over here.

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Spike was insecure BEFORE DG! He just had a controlling mother figure and now loves the power trips...little ones to Disney. I left because he made me sick...didn't get to go to Disney...Space Mountain would have been nice.

Daisy ....yes there are two of us here~ LOL!

Charlotteda,

"I never really did like Mickey Mouse."

I tend to think of it as a 'People Trap' run by a mouse!
~
daisyavenue,

That place thinks because they monitor all out-going email; if you even mention (or type in) anything about Dave's Garden or a link to Dave's that you are spamming them!
~
kooger

"those of you that went to Disney, did you get any warning 'you're booted' message" - Oooh; yes I did!

They actually warned me about _Spam And The Can!_

They actually scan your out-going email from the website!
If they can't stand the heat "Get out of the Garden!" ha! ha!

Edited to say "ROTFLMAO" with an evil *~ Grin ~* Got any tissues? I'm having a laughing attack! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHhhh

DAVE YOU DO WHAT YOU "WANT" DOG GONE IT~~~~~~~

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

About not being able to mention Dave's Garden at GW, you could link to the Plants Database previously for reference (I have done so in the GW id and Texas forums). ...but now that Davesgarden is all inclusive, I bet it will no longer be possible. Hmm... Anyone care to try? I guess I will have to next time I need the reference.

*politely coughs*

Why waste time bashing another site? While the info is useful in a general sense for those of us unfamiliar with that site, a little goes a long way. :)

*then returns back to topic*

Everyone should feel free to populate the member feedback ratings with their experiences, both good and bad, and without making a Forum issue of it!

If Dave or an UBER traded with you and all were happy, that's fabulous! It means that you each had something of value to exchange with one another for your particular interests. Why be limited on providing feedback on that point?

Similarly, if you've traded with someone and they didn't provide feedback on your prof, it could mean they haven't yet gotten around to it, had a neutral reaction to the trade, or didn't want to post anything negative.

I've already had generous offerings from folks here; they noted my interest in a particular topic and offered wonderful things for merely an SASE. :) I wasn't even asking for them (and haven't yet taken anyone up on them yet), was just admiring overall. And I see that generosity extended quite a lot here!

I'm not yet a trader, but hope to be up to speed within a year or two so I can do so.

I think the Member Feedback Ratings will be, overall, a great asset to this site.

Guess I was being dumb, I didn't realize this happened on DG. Thought that the membership fee, and lack of complaining that is so evident elsewhere, meant that DG was free of this.

I played around quite a bit last night looking at ratings. I saw several people with Dave's comments. Yes there were different phrasing for some, but I took it to mean some he had traded with, and some, due to personal knowledge, he was giving a reference to as well. All of the ones I saw are among the most active of DG members. I have no problem with this, because as a trader perhaps unfamiliar with someones reputation, I would count on that recommendation.

Dave you are doing a wonderful job. I wasn't happy watching other trader including my self get ripped off by bad traders on the other site. I left on my own with no trips to Disney land., or even Spacemountain. lol I came here to DG , and Thank God I did. I encourage my friends to do so too. You get booted on the other site for warning others about bad traders even through your email. Dave is trying to protect us all from being ripped off, and I appreciate it very much.
Thank you. :)

Dave,
First,I have to say I'm sorry!!
I think the member feedback ratings is a very good feature & do appreicate all the hard work you put in getting it together. The only reason I was checking the feedback feature on my page & other member's pages was to get a feel of how the feature works.I did speak before I thought because I felt hurt-which now I see I should not have been.If I cause any hurt or bad feelings,I am truly sorry. I hope you will accept my sincere apology.
Colie

Thank you for writing back. After fielding several back and
forth emails with you and then going and seeing that, after I had
answered your question a few times, you had posted it on the
site, too. Well, it did hurt a bit, actually. I felt a little
betrayed, especially after I've done nice things for you in the
past.

I do appreciate your email. I feel better and also feel like it
never happened.

best,
dave

Isn't this the greatest place on earth!!????

My only wish......that I could find a way to raise my kids right here in Dave's Garden.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

All's well that ends well! Peace triumphs again!!

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

This is wonderful! I'm so glad to see such mature behavior here. I'm getting all tear-y . . .

Congratulations to you both on being great human beings.

Pickens, SC(Zone 7a)

There are some great people here and Dave is one of them !

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I have had a couple people I have traded with send me email asking why I haven't posted feedback on them.....was I not pleased or was there some problem?
No there is/was no problem I just don;t see the need to post a feedback remark to each and every person I have traded with.....I haven't that many waking hours to do so :-)
I have posted a couple to see how it worked, and I assure you these were just people that came to mind quickly or were easily accessed.
I have enjoyed trading with each and every one of you that I have so far (even humblebumble....guess I'm one of the lucky ones)
I will try and leave feedback on all future trades.........................
Sorry to put this on a public forum, but I wanted all of you I have traded with to get the same info from me without feeling there was some hidden reason for my not posting to your feedback listings.

Sorry I have to ask this........whats a tard, need to know in case I tarded with someone and dont realize it. LOL
I said I was sorry didnt I?

Golden, CO(Zone 5b)

A tardy trade? I've done some of those! :-(

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

A re-tarded trade....I know I've done a couple of those :-)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

LOL, you guys crack me up!

Manhattan Beach, CA(Zone 11)

Was this to be a popularity contest among the traders or just a warning about bad apples?

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

guess! Just kidding, it's those folks' posts above your's that got me giggling and I couldn't stop...

Seriously, from reading all the posts about this new feedback, it is definitely to be used to warn about bad traders. As for a popularity contest? who's popular? If you only read your and your trader's feedback, you'll never know who's popular. :)

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Yup just as a type of warning system for possible scams and such. I think its a good idea and like the fact that you can retract/change what you posted just in case and, that you can also write in a rebuttle(sp?) if you feel obliged. I think we all need to remember to act rationaly with it, remember that sometimes things are put into writing that sound nothing like what the person actualy meant to portray.

Im also glad to see a shared sense of humor in these forums. : D

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Could a link be made to a brief explanation of the feedback system, so that someone viewing feedback can see how it is intended to work? Maybe some of the concerns addressed in these threads could be addressed in the synopsis?

Manhattan Beach, CA(Zone 11)

Yeah; also how do you rebutt a butt?

Ulrich

The members who have and/or are still are trading a lot are bound to get a lot of feedback, those who only trade once in a while will get a few and those than don't, won't.

Mainly good feedback will show that the member has stuck to their end of the bargain and are worth risking your postage on, mainly bad feedback will be seen as a warning.

How is that a popularity contest and who really cares if someone has 200 feedback and another only has one? Why look it up when you don't want to trade with that person anyway? If a member still sees it as a popularity contest and want to aspire to the giddy heights, perhaps they ought to trade more!

crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

Lord this thread gave me a headache!! I can only imagine what illness Dave will have by now:( You know in my opinion you either "play nice" or you don't get to 'play" at all. I haven't even looked at the feed back entrys and I'm not sure I will. But I'm glad its there if I need it. Its just a feature of this site folks. Careful with taking it so personally.

Love ya'll
Tina

Manhattan Beach, CA(Zone 11)

OK, Baa, strike 'Popularity Contest' and replace with 'Tempest in a Teapot'.
LOL

Bowie, AZ(Zone 8B)

Dave, keep up the good work. You are appreciated!!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

I'm going to "second" farizona's comment. Dave you ARE appreciated!

~julie~

(Zone 5b)

Ditto here too Dave. I really do appreciate this site and all you do to make it work!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I just have a question. Since trading is open to all members and signing up can be done at no charge under any alias you wish and as many times as you want, how does this prevent anyone from setting up dozens of trades under dozens of names and ripping everyone off? By the time the feed back is posted they are using another name and at it again with a clean slate each time.

Zanymuse,

It's not a panacea. Common sense and good judgement will still be crucial in avoiding maximum ripoffs.

If someone who is new with no feedback comes in and starts setting up massive trades, then you might consider avoiding that person until she is a little more established.

Now, if it is a newbie who is looking for a single item and not being aggressive in her trading, and you're willing to lose the common seeds she's asking for, by all means proceed.

Sounds good?

dave

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Dave, don't men trade?

Minority. :-)

dave

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Dave, I was just commenting on your use of just the female gender in your post to Zanymuse above.
