Glad she found her wallet Susan.
Pat, glad you enjoyed the retreat.
Best,Worse,What did I learn today? Come sit and chat, I’ve muffins in the oven and fireplace is on..
I am back inTexas. I enjoyed my visit with my brother very much.
My sister in law took me to a thrift shop, I found lots of fabric for only $2.00 per yard. Most were still on the bolt. I had to get another suitcase to bring it home. I bought 108 yards, for $150.00. I didn't need it, but I couldn't pass it up.
Great! I'm sure you'll enjoy the next retreats, too. Glad you enjoyed this one.
What a deal, Linda Kay! I can see how you couldn't pass up the deal.
Glad the retreat was a success! Bet you're looking forward to the next.
Are you looking for a house right in Winnipeg, or on the outskirts? Seems like the change to city life would be huge after living in your little hamlet.
At $2 a yard, LOTS would have followed me home! I admit we filled a whole suitcase with fabric. Some we bought at $4 or 3 a yard. I got quite a bit off the retreats "free" pile and some by the pound. I have 5 charity quilts I worked on while at the retreat. 3 were made almost exclusively from the free fabrics. When I have them quilted & bond I will post them.
I like free fabric even better.
Can't wait to see your quilts.
oh yes, pls share your quilt pictures, everyone!!!!
Those are beautiful Pat.
Love that green, Pat! Looking forward to more :)
"He is Risen!"
I spend most of Saturday getting ready for company on Easter Sunday. The meal is served, they have all gone home & clean up is nearly complete. I hope all of you enjoyed a blessed Easter with family.
Beautiful quilts, Pat.
Busy Saturday trying to get ready for Easter, and busy Easter, too. I'm so stiff and sore from all the cleaning I did! Floors are already muddy because of the rain here.
Deb, you get mud, I have endless drifts of cat hair. Marie has a labradoodle, I have a cat that sheds like CRAZY, Poor Marie is not used to all this hair since her dog does not shed.
I got binding on the 2nd quilt, and the 3rd has the binding cut but not applied. I hope to get them finished today and move on to the Paw Patrol blankets.
"He is Risen Indeed"!
I went out for dinner with my friend Dianne, at a restaurant that was serving Ham & Scalloped Potatoes. It was lovely. Afterwards we went to her place & played crib - I won 2 out of three, but BOY were they close games!
I'm starting to loosen up from all the lifting, climbing, painting etc I've been doing to get things packed & out of here for the town-wide Yard Sale on the Victoria Day long weekend next month.
I'm going camping on the Mother's Day weekend - May 9-12th. May be my last camping with this group.
btw - it's SNOWING now............ light, but still snow. Big Siiiiiiiigh.
Happy belated Easter everyone..we were busy here too..church service, then come home and cook dinner. My daughter in law made chicken Alfredo. It was so good.
Linda, I like Alfredo. We usually make it with sauteed celery and onions with chopped
peppers rather than pasta. My favorite is Shrimp Alfredo. We probably have it once a month or so. We have a store that has a good sale on frozen shrimp once a month.
I've been cranking out the small charity quilts. I got the 3rd Shamrock quilt done yesterday and have started on the Paw Patrol ones. I have the first Paw Patrol quilted on minky but no binding etc. When I get both of those done, I will post a picture. None of the quilts are big, 44 x 47, 45 x 52 & 40 x 55. The amount of fabric and backing decided the dimensions. The only fabric I bought for the quilts were the softer dark green used in the stripes & binding of #3 and one fat quarter I bought for 50 cents of the medium green with geometric design. All that shamrock fabric was on the free table.
I like Chicken Alfredo, too
I went to a Good Friday service, and then the Easter service. Both well-attended.
I'm working on decluttering for a sale when I put my place on the market. Making it messier lol There is a storage unit in my Park that I may use. It's $100 a month.
Still don't have the paperwork from the Federal gov't for my Notice Of Assessment that I'll send into my Mortgage Broker, so I haven't been approved for a Mortgage yet.
Beautiful quilts Pat. Susan, sounds like you are staying busy, trying to get everything organized.
Thanks Linda, they have been fun to make.
Linda, isn't that the truth! It looks so much worse before it looks better. Besides, you will want to pare down before you move. 30 years ago, when we put our house up for sale, we rented a storage unit. It took us a year to sell the house. We would have been money ahead to get rid of that stuff and replace it after we got into a different house. The only thing of big value/ sentimental or money, was my antique buffet and I could have asked my parents to put it in their guest bedroom. Of course, we had NO idea it would take a whole year to sell!
I think that 2nd paragraph was for me, Pat?!
Yes, I'm going to sell what I can, and declutter a LOT. I may sell my 2 loveseats, and will definitely NOT bring my dining table & chairs. I'll go to Habitat For Humanity's ReStore or other 2nd hand stores & buy some furniture there.
I'll buy a new-to-me car there and my car won't pass a safety, but it will get me to Winnipeg.
Even if I can't get a mortgage I will still move into an apartment, but I WILL MOVE. Moving while I'm still relatively young with no health issues is the best time to move. Rather than the way my mom did, when she was too frail to live in a senior's apartment block & had to go into a nursing home. She said she should have moved 4 years earlier. She's been gone since Dec 26, 2017, bless her soul.
Moving is never easy. I have done it many times, bring a military wife. I don't care to do it again.
After being in Alberta for almost 19 years, I'm ready to move back close to family and away from "him". I'm not sure how many times you've moved, Linda Kay, but I seriously lost track after 60 personal moves, let alone company moves. I guess I really AM a Thursday's Child (has far to go - although there's another version of the poem saying Thursday's child is merry & glad, but I think the 1st one saying that Thursday's child faces a long journey or has a challenging life ahead is more to the point).
It's time to be closer to family while my age & health are good.

I know you will be happy, living closer to family.
Yep, I meant that paragraph for SUSAN, not Linda.
Linda, I am glad that you have found your new living arrangements enjoyable. Living with family can be a blessing or a heartache. I've certainly experienced both! At least my relationship with Adam & Andrea is improving, I am grateful for that. How is your sweet dog doing??
Susan, your 2 birds doing OK together? It will be a WONDERFUL living close to famly again and FAR away from "him". It makes me sad to think you 2 had a good relationship for years before he went off his rocker!
I pieced these 2 at the retreat. I added the borders at home to the one. One has minky backing, the other fleece backing. I got brave and used white contrasting thread on the red fleece. This is the first time I used the stars and loops E2E ( edge to edge programed pattern).
I now have all 5 of the quilts complete that I pieced at the retreat. There is a pattern but the quilt is so bright you have to enlarge them to see all the Paw Patrol quilt blocks. All 5 of the quilts are "small", the smallest of the 5 is 45 x 45 and the largest 50 x 60.I have a larger black & white quilt top & backing ready to load on the longarm I made the quilt top 2 years ago, I am FINALLY getting it quilted. I am making some headway on the old, unfinished projects.

I miss you, Betty. I wish you would come back.
