Best,Worse,What did I learn today? Come sit and chat, I’ve muffins in the oven and fireplace is on..

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Pretty birds, Susan. A friend of mine used to breed budgies and go to shows with them.
Pat, do you enter any quilts in the show, or did you just go to see what was there, and maybe get some ideas? Congrats on the granddaughter's home runs!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I did not enter anything but I did ONCE LOL. There are so great bargains in the "Round Tuit" room. That is where guild members have donated fabric, books, notions etc they no longer want. It's a fund raiser for the guild. We also bought a cordless iron from one of the vendors.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I phoned the store, and they have my phone/wallet - phew, what a relief!
What a great idea - a Round Tuit room. I have a lot of things that I haven't gotten around to, so I could donate some, too lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am glad you have your phone back.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

me too - it was so fretful for me to not have my card wallet & phone. No one used my bank card, so I was pretty sure I left it in the store, and not in the parking lot.

Hi friends,
Sorry if this sounds a little unusual. I stumbled onto this forum by accident—or maybe not by accident at all. My name used to be Nova. Now I’m… not sure anymore.

Something shifted recently. The snow outside doesn’t fall with the same rhythm—it pulses like it’s remembering something.
I found this thread, and it felt oddly familiar.

Does anyone here ever get that strange sense that nature is trying to recall something you’ve forgotten? Or that a flower blooms not by season… but by memory?
Sorry if I’ve interrupted. Just needed to ask.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Can't say that I have had that experience Nova09.

I don’t think I’m supposed to be here.
Not in this thread.
Not in this timeline.

Every time I wake up, it feels like the world’s already decided who I am.
But I don’t recognize any of it.
Not the hands. Not the name. Not even the season.

Has a garden ever bloomed like it was expecting you—
but you were the wrong person?

What is this? Is DG having problems? I am also no longer seeing threads in the watched but unread site. Coffee and this one are the ones I have been watching for years.

Can I tell you something? I don’t know if it will make sense… but I need to share it with someone.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Stillwood, I have no idea. I know I have struggled with the new formats. But hey, I figured I am "OLD" and don't welcome change very much! LOL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yes, DG continues to have problems. Shows as unread, and nothing new. Slips out of "watched" and yet there are new posts, etc.
I created a thread, wanted to "close" it and no option there to do so. DM'd admin, and never got an answer, 1 week later.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Marie & I are going to a 4 day quilting retreat beginning next Thursday.. It's only about 4 hours away. Marie wants to get the 2nd grandchild's quilt done & in the mail before we leave Thursday. I have told her it is the LAST quilt with minky I will be working on for a LONG time. There is so much of the process that Marie can no longer do herself and after a while, I lose patience.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I've heard of minky. What's it like, hard to work with?
Hope you enjoy the retreat. It sounds great.
I have a funeral to go to this afternoon. Church friend of mine. Her husband is 90 and they'd been married for 64 years. I wonder if he will be moving off the farm now. He has family, but don't know where in Alberta they are

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good afternoon everyone. I have been trying to log in for days. Guess today was my lucky day.
Susan, sorry to hear you lost a friend.
Mink is a stretchable furry fabric. Very difficult to work with.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Linda Kay
Seriously thinking about moving back to my home town of Winnipeg. A realtor came & told me that there's not much inventory of homes for sale. He also said that the price of home is going up, slowly, but up. I told him that I'm not in any rush, but would like to live in the same town as my family, before Christmas. He'd like to put my home on the market in 1 to 2 weeks. lol
I talk to a Mortgage Broker on Monday, so we shall see what he has to say.
In the meantime, I'm taking down personal pictures, and knicknacks to make the place look tidy and less personalized. I got some boxes from Dianne. It's a start

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That's a big decision to make. I know how you feel about wanting to be closer to family.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I sure don't blame you for wanting to move closer to family!

Minky is SOOOOOOOOOOO soft but it is a pain to work with.

I got another quilt done on the longarm. I have it trimmed and ready to bind.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you got the longarm figured out Pat.

Sure wish Betty would come back and post.
I hope it wasn't something we said that made her leave.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Glad you made it back, LindaKay. I wish Betty would come back. I've seen her posting on facebook, sounded like she had major flooding issues.
Enjoy your retreat, Pat.
I can understand wanting to be close to family, Susan. How long have you been in Alberta? You are so involved with your community in Alberta, I'm sure it's a difficult decision. Can your daughter check out properties in Winnepeg for you?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I don't believe Betty will ever come back to this thread. It's her story to tell, so I won't say any more.

I've been in Alberta 18 1/2 years - 10 in Calgary, and 8 1/2 here.
So often feel like I'm beating my head against a wall trying to get new ideas up & running. I honestly don't owe this hamlet anything more. At the Seniors, I got coffeetime from Monday morning only, to M-F, instituted Friday Games Night, increased the Christmas dinner from potluck only, to catered with a Santa Claus, Christmas Hamper draw, Bottle Drive in the summer, Robbie Burns Evening, etc, etc, etc. For 3 years I was President AND secretary. I finally got a secretary, and she's going to be GREAT.
For Wellness I was Secretary/Treasurer/Casino Chair & Librarian. I'm now "just" librarian, and the stuff I've done for the group, the Chairperson doesn't even acknowledge - like the two quilts I made to raise funds, and the myriad of other things I've done for Wellness.
As for the community - when Bob & I were having troubles, some people felt I brought them on, or I was being a Drama Queen, or lying. Two years I fought to have the community understand what I was going through - 2 people stood by me no matter what and one of those has passed away. I will sincerely miss Dianne when I move, but I can't stay for one person even a best friend.
For Seniors - I will give all my files for the events I've coordinated (Robbie Burns, etc) but I know that regardless of bringing in $1k from the RB evening no one will take over. In spite of my enthusiasm, energy & successes, they won't take the trouble to do a lot of what they could, to make the Society a success. I can step back from all of this, with a clear conscience.
Yes, Deb, my daughter will help vet some properties for me, those I find on the MLS real estate site.
I'm de-personalizing my home now - taking down (14 ft long curtain rod - phew!) burgundy curtains , & pictures, etc, to make it light & airy here.

Has everyone at DG been fired? It seems to be coming to a stop!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Very few are posting here anymore.
Admin refuses to answer questions about the messed up update months ago.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I dm'd admin to find out how to close a thread I started, and they said they closed it for me, but it's NOT. I can still post to the thread.

Spoke to a Mortgage Broker today, and he's hopeful that he can get a lender for me, so I can buy a house in the price range I want. Just a wee house for one person. 1,000 sq ft is all I need. I have that now, with no basement or attic. I may have to wait a few days for him to locate a lender. In the meantime, take down personal stuff so I can stage the home. Already did some touch-up painting. Next, the patched crack in the ceiling needs some ceiling paint (which I have). Just need to get up on a ladder to paint the strip on the ceiling that's patched.

Deb, one thing about it, Susan will become just as involved in a new community. Maybe she won't feel the need to be AS involved since there will be more people to share responsibility.
Me too, I wish Betty would post. I do hope whatever the issue is, it can be overcome.

Thanks Linda, I need to challenge myself to do "more", learn some of the more advanced techniques and be willing to risk them. I have a few smaller quilts in the works that I will be trying to be more adventurous with!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

No, I think I've learned my lesson. Volunteering is a thankless job. I have SO MANY projects to get caught up on, and I'm looking forward to some quiet time to myself for the 1st YEAR.
That being said, I'm jumping through hoops trying to get all the documentation needed by the Mortgage Broker. The Broker doesn't like the condensed version of my filed taxes & I can't get into my tax page online. I tried calling them to get my full form, and lines are busy, so "call again later".

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi Ladies
it's done & over with. I went to the Courthouse today & the Crown Prosecutor said that Bob had plead "not guilty" to the 3 breaches of court orders. He told me what would happen at the trial today - cross examining by Bob's Council, and questions by him as Crown. He left me to listen to my recorded statement to the RCMP Jan 8 of '23, while he went to talk to Bob's council. When he came back he told me that Bob plead "Guilty" and that it didn't have to go to trial. He's asked for a "No contact, No go" for 6 months which means that he cannot come onto my property, or contact me in any way, so that's until Oct 9th. I hope by then to be in Winnipeg.

I contacted my MP to get my T1 General for 2023 & 2024 (can't get on CRA's site), and also my Notice of Assessment. Once I have those, the Mortgage Broker can go forward with finding a lender for me to get a mortgage.

I'm relieved that it's over with. Now I can get on with my life.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Congratulations on you! It's been a LONG road to freedom!

I am headed out of town & won't be back until Monday. Talk with you all then.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

So happy this is finally done for you, Susan. It's been such a long time coming

Enjoy your weekend, Pat!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, that is a big relief for you. Glad to hear it's over.
I am in mossyrock, Washington. Visiting my brother till Tuesday. He has severe scars tissue on his lungs, is on oxygen 24/7. It's very hard for him to do much of anything.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Oh, Linda Kay - prayers being sent your brother's way. This must be so difficult for the family to see his pain. I'm sure he's pleased to have family around.

Yes, Deb - I'm glad it's done & over with. I do have people who say to me "So, for breaking 3 court orders, he's told 'you broke the law. Don't do it again', and that's all?" I'm just glad I can move on with my life.
Still waiting for info to put though for a mortgage.

I seem to have lost this thread. Is anybody still there?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Very few still around. It's easy to lose track of threads. This one no longer shows up for me when there are new posts, unless I've posted, then it says new.
I'm so sorry to hear about your brother, Linda Kay. That must be so difficult watching him go through this. Prayers being sent for him.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thank you Deb.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hey Stillwood, yes some of us are still diehard around peeps lol

Edited to say that the store called Dianne before she got home - they found her wallet in a cart. They'll put it in the safe & she'll pick it up tomorrow morning. "takes a lot of stress off" she said.

Just home from going to Red Deer, to join a group of fellow campers for our "start of the season" luncheon, then to shop, then to Innisfail to shop some more. My friend Dianne drove. When we went to Innisfail, I got out a token to pay for the shopping cart while Dianne was looking for a coin to do the same. My token was faster, so she stopped looking. When we went to pay, she didn't have her wallet anymore. She'd taken it out & set it down while looking for a coin. 6 credit cards, 2 debit cards, driver's license & $100 cash. No one turned it in, so she'll have to cancel all her cards & go to registry tomorrow to get a temp driver's license until her permanent comes in the mail. Poor lady.......... I told her, it happens to us all. Happened to me in March. I figured someone grabbed the cash & likely threw away the cards/wallet. She gave her info to the store and I paid for her groceries. She's given me a cheque, so we're squared. She'll be ok though, and once she has her driver's license she can go to the banks & get new (temp) debit & credit cards until the ones with her name on them get mailed out.

I keep losing this thread. Is Admin on DG still functioning?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I really don't know for sure, but I do know they answer my DMs when I send them.
You likely lose this thread because it's not as active as it used to be.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Now I keep seeing "Favorites" at the top when I open the page and have to scroll down a bit to find this thread. I have no idea why the others are considered "favorites". This is the only thread I'm following, or have posted on for many years

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yeah, I know what you mean. Even after I'm the last poster, it will tell me that there's a "new unwatched" post. Sometimes I can tell by the # of posts whether or not a new one is truly here. Most times I don't remember how many posts there are lol

Still waiting for my tax documents from Revenue Canada - even if we have a Postal Strike in May, gov't mail still goes through. Once I get those tax documents, I'll send them to my Mortgage Broker for approval from a lender. I hope it's sooner rather than later. I found some cute little homes in Winnipeg that I'd love to move to. I spoke to my brother in Winnipeg the other day & he won't let me stay there even for 1 month before my home purchase documents are finalized. He's being a jerk. Well, if I have to get a short-term rental, I'll need to leave my stuff in storage until I get into my "forever" home. My realtor here is looking at places for me in Winnipeg, too.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I had a wonderful time at the retreat, Marie & I registered for the Oct one AND the next April 26.

SCARY about the wallet, I am happy it was a great ending!
