(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you made some money. Get some rest.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That's good money for a yard sale! I am glad it's over for you Susan. And grateful you had extra help.
Betty, you found your blue herron, good job!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, I was just watching a news story on my phone. Albert has huge wild fires up your way. Praying they are near you.
Many homes have burned, and smoke from it has reached Texas. Praying for all those in the area.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes, it's very smoky here - stings the eyes. At this point, people are being told to pack a bag for leaving. There are several places where they evacuated, but then returned. The haze around here is pretty thick, and those who don't have to be, are advised to stay indoors. I'm seeing more masks again, because of the smoke.
Pat - we didn't hold a yard sale. We had a BBQ for the yard sale people, both vendors & buyers.

Verona, ON

Glorious day here. Mid 70's with a nice breeze. Rain in the forecast for tomorrow.

There were 2 loose dogs on the lane wrecking havoc with every step. 1 is a Rotti the other a Pittie. Guests of someone on the lane. My boys are beside themselves. I walked the 2 runaways back up the lane to see who they belonged to. Grrr it's not the dogs' fault but irresponsible dog owners really tick me off. It does explain why Zeke has been so antsy this morning.

What a success Susan !

My poppies have finally have some buds. Woo hoo!!

Betty we hated repairs and got to the point we refused to do them unless it was a piece of our own.

Pat that an excellent idea to write down and keep track. I am notorious for putting something in a safe space then forgetting where it was. I have a friend who writes down in a book every book title once she has finished reading it. I'm grateful that Amazon puts a reminder when you go to look at a title telling you when you ordered the book.

Not holding my breath Pat so I am glad you have a plan of action for June 1. Years ago when we lived in Toronto we went to help a friend and his wife move. We got there and NOT 1 box was packed. They had to be out by the end of the day. Our group of friends rallied around and we got it done. The place was filthy to boot. We never ate at their house again after that day. Hummm wonder why.

No fireworks at all last night. How about you Betty ?

Do you have call display Betty ? I screen all of my calls - a left over from when I was getting obscene phone calls years ago. Or would your mother get herself into a huff if you didn't answer ?

Deb looking forward to seeing puppy pictures.

Think I might lay down for a bit and rest my weary bone. My joints are talking to me.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, I thought you had the BBQ AND some your members had collected to benefit from the yard sale portion as well!

Dianne.... YOU all did the work that THEY should have. They were rewarded for their irresponsible behavior by having you all bail them out. And that is exactly how I feel about this mess. I have friends who have offered to help pack and load just to get them out of my house for MY SANITY, not out of desire to help them. Likely she will continue to refuse help, "it just causes too much anxiety". I have suggested to Adam that he have HER stay at the new house and not be here while this final mess gets packed and loaded. She can deal with it THERE and not have to witness the strangers packing her stuff.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It's not so bad out now, so I'm going to RoundUp my veggie garden. When I return from camping this weekend, I'll plant everything that will go into it. I got 3 tomato plants, 4 green peppers, 2 cherry tomatoes, and 10 herbs - 4 are annuals, and 6 are perenials. I'm going to plant the annual herbs in a hanging rail planter, so it's at the front, right next to my kitchen (main) door.
it's 63F out now - supposed to go to 69F
We were going to have a yard sale outside the senior's centre but it was threatening rain (70 chance of thunderstorms). We only got a tiny sprinkle (not worth going inside or covering for) and the rain didn't happen until After everyone in town had packed up & gone inside about 5pm. Perfect timing, I'd say :)

Verona, ON

You're right Pat we did do the work that they should of done. Background this was a battered husband both physically and emotionally. He truly needed us there for support. After a few years - yes a few years and a lot of emotional support from his friends he sought a counsellor and was able to leave then divorce her. You know my DH taught with the fellow and he was an excellent teacher and staff member. I think your suggestion of her ladyship staying at the new house is an excellent one.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Over the years working in mental health I have had a number of male patients that were the victim of sexual assaults as teens and domestic abuse as adults. Men are even LESS apt to come forward. It's ALL ugly and cruel. I am glad to hear he got counseling, got stronger and got OUT. Without support, neither sex has much of chance of recovery.

Had a vet appointment yesterday for an ultrasound. There are definitely puppies! No idea how many, but, "several" he said. Due date is June 24/25. The puppies are the blurry shapes inside the dark patches.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Good deal!! Hope you deliver plenty of happy healthy puppies with no complications!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sorry I've been MIA. Had a bad few days. My arm was really aching over the week end plus I've had a troubling pain in my side for some time and it decided to ramp it up a bit. Between the two and a general un-well feeling,Walt decided I needed to be seen. He called Laura and she came right in and they took me to ER about 6:30 A.M. yesterday. I was poked and prodded, scanned and x-rayed, stabbed numerous times to finally get a line in about the 8th try. Findings....When I fell a few weeks back, besides breaking my toe, it seems I also broke my arm. I have a bladder infection and I also need to go in for an appointment as my bladder seems to be dropping(explains my frequent bathroom runs). The pain in my side was never addressed even though I told everyone I saw about it. After a mostly sleepless night...Well I did get to sleep a few times just to have someone wake me up for some reason.
made me quite crabby. The line they put in decided to fail blowing up my arm very painfully. Added to crabbyness.
Then I got a call that made my day. The P.A. from my oncologists office, which is in the hospital building. She said she just saw I was there, what was going on? So I filled her in. She then said they had more results from my visit there the 11th. I have not taken my Chemo drug since Feb. because he was no seeing the markers in my blood. We decided to try going off it and see what happened. Well guess what? Still no markers in my blood. He will want to monitor me every 3 months for a year. But as of my last draw, I am considered in remission. This has been happening for a few people the last few years. I seem to be one of the lucky ones.
This morning I had a elbow to wrist cast put on and got prodded a few more times and released. Most of today I have been sleeping.
So now, here we are, neither of us can drive. I'm basically useless with this cast...arm still hurts. I did however, get three quilt top made with a broken arm.

Verona, ON

Karen sending positive thoughts and lots of gentle hugs. I am so glad Walt stepped in and got you off to be checked out. I share the blown vein problem and that is a real PIA. I once had to have a line put into my foot as they had exhausted everything else. I was a walking bruise for a week or two. People who saw me were horrified and thought I had been beat up.

Not long now Pat. I'm counting the days off with you.

Betty we have a rainy day - do you ? Actually it is good timing as my body needs a rest. I have lots to do in the house.

Right now I am on the bed enjoying a glass of milk. That seems to be the only thing I can ingest that doesn't give me heart burn.

Oh Deb that is exciting about the puppies. I could never breed as I fall in love with them all and wouldn't want to part with the pups.

I do need to get out in the dogs' enclosure and break down the boxes I tossed out there yesterday. Cardboard day with garbage pick up tomorrow.

Stay safe and well.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, sounds like they got to the bottom of everything but the side pain. I hope you will get answers on that soon as well, You are so silly "I got 3 quilt tops made" Lol. Sounds like a true quilter! LOL

I am not sure what Sharon & I will do this morning. She has an MD appt first. Once she leaves to pickup grandson after school, I will spend some time with my sister.

I just need to make it 7 more days... surely I can survive 7 more days and not go postal.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat I had no arm pain at all. I was just happily piecing away. all are at long armer now. Problem will be getting the binding on. Easier to do stuff without the sling. Oh Yeah gotta go get more pull up lounge type pants. Jeans are just too hard to deal with.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I will bet jeans are difficult with your arm cast. I just had a little hand cast a few years ago on my LEFT hand (I am right dominant) and it was a pain!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, wrote a novel, was at the point of looking at the ultra sound when I just had to click on photo, poof, there went my post.

Dianne, only rained til 10, sun came out but was cool, brrr so cold that tonight yet again i had to cover my pretties as we will get frost.what do you think is causing the heartburn?

Karen, glad Walt insisted you go to the hospital..imagine saying you made 3 quilts, shaking my head, now for your side..

Pat, worse I am sure is the next 7, you should have taken a holiday, come visit Betty.

Susan, you should be proud of your group, they did very well financially.

Walt to gab to you all but falling asleep

.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hope you had a good night's sleep, Betty. Today I hope we do well too - Bottle Drive. Monday we had those helping serve the food, and of course the pies they brought to the BBQ went over well, especially the apple pies! Saskatoon & lemon pies went quickly, too!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about your broken arm Karen. Praying it heals quickly.
I am in Red River new Mexico with my son and daughter in law for a tattoo convention this weekend. 36 degrees this morning. The view here in the mountains is stunning.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Adam's stepdaughter (17 YO) has been working with a tattoo artist for over a year now. She goes every Wednesday after school & on Saturdays. In the beginning she only did housekeeping chores etc & "watched". She has been given an Ipad to begin to design & practice. She is a gifted artist.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, brrr laying hear on couch all bundled in a heating blanket. They are calling for heave frost again tonight. Grrr

Went outside and lit the fire pit, so would like to empty the ashes this weekend.

Lordy that is a lot of fundraising Susan, you and your group must be exhausted.

Red River, New Mexico, will have to go check where it is on map..glad you are getting out, hope your son does well. Because of frost once again I did not plant Todd’s rose bush but it’s got gorgeous roses on it.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is a beautiful pink rose.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sure hope weather improves so it can be planted

If i had a large planter container I think i would set it in for this year.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That is a beautiful pink rose! I am sure you are looking forward to it being an "outdoor" rose!! I planted my miniature pink rose the day after Mother's Day. So far it is doing Ok.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Just got home from a bone marrow extraction. That was not fun. Last one I had I was put to sleep. This was done in office,,NEVER AGAIN.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh no Karen, you have to wonder why on earth they would do such a procedure without putting you asleep or do you have reaction to the chemicals? Bet when you said it was too unbearable they kept on with the procedure.

When I spent about 10 of 24 months in the Doctor’s Hospital in Toronto which is no longer they said it was life threatening and they wanted to dilate me, think of an ice cream cone sliced in 12, they said to be brave and they would stop when I couldn’t stand it..well i was 8n pain after the 4th insert, was getting bigger and bigger..they had strapped my legs open these metal clamps and strapped my hands, i screamed and screamed, thought I was beiNg tortured, would they stop, nope..think about the 19th i passed out…nobody will con me like that again. I’ve not had a spinal before, is the bone marrow extraction something similar? Sure hope you can relax tonight and have a good sleep, Lordy you have been through the works.. amazing what a person can endure, how is Walt doing other than being worried about you?

Linda Kay, is the tattoo event held where motorcycle conventions are at?

It is my SIL Charlene birthday is today, they are at the car races inNorth Carolina, they love the races then they will be heading home, they are hoo8ng to be home by June 1st.

Dianne, how are you feeling tonight?? I just went and covered all new plants/shrubs because they say heavy frost again tonight, how about your region?

I was in town yesterday, went and had my handicap sticker renewed, at the same time got my sticker for 2 years, they are free so don’t know why we have to register.

Cuddled with heat blanket and Ziggy by my side, think I will be in bed by 6, sad isn’t it!

Made a post, it's gone with the wind. good night.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am up because I could not go to sleep. I worked very long and hard in the back landscape today. I was guarding and preparing pots on the side of the house where i have the small greenhouses. I bought trailing vincas yesterday and, of course, every basket I needed had to be washed, dried and painted. Did I get all the plants and pots together and do it as a whole. Of course not. So by 5 pm was DONE in. have tomorrow to finish because I have a young lady coming Saturday to work on the irrigation on the pots. At 5pm my project looked worse than when I started. But that happens some times. I will send Betty Photos so she can share them with you.

Karen, I am so relieved they discovered your had broken your arm. That had to hurt and you just ignored it because You were taking care of Walt. Spinal tap is a biggie. What are they looking for.

Betty, so sorry you are still getting frost. Our lows are in the high 60s. Today was doable because it was cloudy. And occasionally there was a light wind. Your body's sweat cooled you down. Where I was working was in the shadow of my neighbors very large pine trees. Your cat looks like it has gained some weight. My cat, same color as yours, weighs 9 pounds.

Pat, because your son had his mailing address changed and moved to your property, he actually had tenants rights. If he is not out by the 1st, you cannot just push him out, you need to go through eviction process. He actually has more right than you do. You best contact a Realtor friend or attorney and check out the new rental rules.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, tenant rights or not, I will move him myself if he is not out on time. I will let him seek legal solution if he wants to. It will NOT go well with him should he think that is a smart move to make. He will alienate himself from ALL the family and he cannot afford to do that with his Aunt Marie! His brothers would never forgive him for something that stupid and would stand with me.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sharon, It wasn't a spinal tap. They punctured my hip to get bone marrow. They are trying to find out why I keep losing hemoglobin and also the state of my leukemia..if it's truly gone as it appears to be by my blood draws.
I will never allow this to happen again with only a local. It hurt terribly and I am very sore today and will probably be for a few days.
Another time I might have been more able to tolerate it but I have been through so much lately that I just am not able to bear more.
Walt and I are both worn to a nubbin. Now here we are, neither one can drive and we are barely able to take care of each other.

Pat wasn't me on the tenants rights issue

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, been working all morning outside, mid 60’s, nice breeze as I cut the front and back, always looks so nice with freshly cut lawns.

Karen, sorry for all the pain you and Walt have been enduring, hardest Pat Pat for you both is the asking for help I am sure.

Yes, Sharon, I do believe that tenants have more rights than owner but these days so many are looking for homes to rent the owner can pick renters that are cream of the crop,

My shoulders are saying enough, so I will make a ham sandwich because Sharon and I go for fish fry at 4. Got the carpet roses planted, Todd went travelling this morning, tried to move it from place to place, finally found where i will plant it but I need a proper bag soil/nutrients so will stop off at Foodland on my way back from fish fry.

Pat, at the very least I would have friends pack up all his belongings, deliver them to their new home, to me would be worth paying for it, big note saying “so long amigo”. Hard to believe after so much you’ve done for them..gritting my teeth!!

Sharon, i look forward to getting photo’s I can post..you are right, start on a project and looks worse than when you start. Was up early and have boxes with fabric looking for shelving so i decided i would take everything off 2 shelves, fold fabric nicely for more room, well found all kinds that need ironing first, so made extra work.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I was at Marie's until late last night. She bought more clothes for both of us. I received several shirts and 3 new dresses. I had just gone thru my closet on Wednesday and bagged up clothes that were either too big and those I liked less & would never wear. I had to cull them AGAIN to get this batch in.

I marked and altered, hemmed clothes for several hours yesterday for Marie. I also got the 5 dresses hemmed for my SIL Tina. I will deliver those to Yakima (2 hours away) on Saturday afternoon. There is a potluck there at Ben's brothers.

Ooops you are right Karen, it was Sharon who posted about tenant rights. I have intentionally NOT filed for proper eviction. So, no doubt if they wanted to make trouble, they could. It would not be in THEIR best interest either. I have offered help and told him to let me know & I could have people here to help box, load and deliver. If they are not ready it's because THEY don't want to be.

3 of my caesarian section deliveries were with a spinal block. The only reason my 3rd child was delivered with general anesthesia was because the MD did not listen to me. I warned him he would need a thinner, longer needle than what was usually used. When he first saw me for #4, he assured me the special needle was ordered.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, sorry you had to go through that pain
Betty, most of the places he travels to for tattoos are motorcycle rallies. . Lots of customers, and they stay busy.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

They moved 3 vehicles home to their house and got the travel trailer ready to move. The guy who is going to move it was not available today. They made significant progress today but Adam goes back to work Sunday 2AM and he always goes Saturday to check his rig & load to make sure it is READY. Once Adam is gone, progress will halt if the past is any indication of the future (and I do believe it is!)

Adam warned me there is significant scratches on the hardwood floor from a couch that was not properly put on pads. I have not seen it yet.

Verona, ON

Absolutely stellar weather. 80* today and the promise of even higher tomorrow. Lovely breeze off of the lake.

Well we had the dog attack of the decade on the lane. A cottager was up who doesn't think the unwritten rules of the lane apply to her. Her dog a Bull Mastiff (and nothing against the breed as trained and supervised correctly are wonderful pets). She had been advised not to let her dog wander willy nilly. Anyway poor Nyla the Chocolate Lab has dozens of staples, stitches and other bite marks left to heal on their own. The vet bill is in the thousands. I say she 'was' up as she took her dog and went home wondering why everyone is upset and angry with her. I had chased the dog up the lane that morning as it was way down here.

Oh Pat I am so sorry you have to go through all of this with your son and his family. You and Stanley will give a big sigh of relief once they are finally gone.

Zeke has dragged his bowl in to show me it's empty. Guess I had better get him fed.

BBL

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Is the irresponsible owner of the mastiff going to be held financially responsible for the lab's injuries that her dog inflicted?? Or not without a legal action?? Now that the mastiff has inflicted injuries, is there anything the local law Enforcment can do to force them to contain their dog?

A&A finally moved ALL their dogs to the new home yesterday and Stanley & I had our first bark-free night & morning!!! It was HEAVENLY!!! They are still working to clear the place but the trailer is GONE!! I have not peeked in the house to see the progress over today. I know it's not done but it's coming along.

Even Stanley knows "something" is going on. He wants to leave our area/room and "go look". I don't know if he is wondering why he can't hear the dogs or just senses they are gone & wants to check. He will NOT be allowed to leave this area until A&A are completely moved out and I can start cleaning.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well sleep angels are taking the night off in my house. So I am up and reading posts and mail.

Pat, that is delightful that the dogs are gone. And when someone says the wood floors are scratched, they mean they are "scratched".....Couches usually leave deep scratches that cannot be sanded out and re stained. I wish they would just say we are moved and you can get rid of anything we left behind. That would be a blessing.

Diane, that is a shame that big mastiff had to attach the lab. Lab are usually such lovable and gentle dogs. Hope it doesn't turn the Lab's personality because of the attach.

We have a gentleman that has large German Sheppard dogs and is always trying to walk them off lease because they are so trained. The dogs like people and always go running toward the neighbors to say hello. I actually stopped him one day and told him his dogs could be friendly , but that doesn't mean they might not knock down an older woman or man and break their hip and he would have a large law suit on his hands. He never takes the dogs off lease now.

I have worked 6 weeks on my pots in the back. Probably one more day, Monday, and I will be done. anyway for a day or two. The one geranium pot I deadheaded yesterday had 126 spent blooms. The pot is 32 inches in Diameter and has 4 geraniums in it. One of the things I need to feed Tuesday. Took me close to an hour to dead head it and get all of the dead leaves out of the bottom of the pot.. I borrowed the mow and blow guys and they helped me move about 10 heavy pots. I had rehabbed and planted them and they just needed to be placed where I thought i may want them, I got out of control and thought I needed to plant every empty pot I had. Well that is not the case. I think someone snuck in some more planters.

I will take still photos tomorrow and send them to Betty. Going over to Daughter's for Sunday dinner.

Linda are you still at the motor car race. It is estimated there will be 350,000 visitors in Las Vegas for Memorial Day.

Wish me luck, I am going to go peak around in Amazon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Sandman didn’t find my home either Sharon, been up since 4:30, just waiting for the weather to warm up a tad and go play outside.mis suppose to reach 78°f today.

What a tragedy Dianne, hope Nyla is on the mend. Am sure the wonder if the dog that attacked Nyla has learned a lesson, especially on the financial side. Was Nyla on his own property?

Lots walk their dogs here, all on leash. would have been worried about my health had I tried to chase the dog up the lane. These episodes create bad feeling amongst neighbours and so it should.

Lordy Pat that seems a lot of vehicles that were parked in your yard. Likely Stanley was checking “are they gone yet? Are they gone yet?” Lol he has no idea of the calming freedom he is about to have,

You are so right Sharon, would only take a but a jump to cripple a senior..Noah’s dog always wants to say hello, wants to stand on his hind legs to say hello but I loose my balance so he has to put him in his room until he calms down.

Was the pit creation a “make work for Sharon?” Lordy, wouldn’t be so bad if you didn’t have to deadhead them all. All work aside, bet they are outstanding.
Lindakay, saw photo’s of Red River, lucky you getting to travel along with them.

Karen, how are you and Walt do8ng?

Waving to all

Feel like I could nap for an hour

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Had a lot of holes in my night. This darned arm is hurting worse in the cast than it did before.
Our deck will be finished today except for staining which has to wait for the wood to dry out. A friend asked if she could hire my crew. I told her they can't be hired, you have to grow them. Son, son in law and grandson. More grands will be here today.

Just came back inside. I've been out walking and working on the yard and garden since early this morning. Going to put my feet up for a bit.

Sandman must have been on vacation last night as he didn't find me either. Well he did find me around midnight and then about 12:15 the TH started whooping it up. One of the dogs left behind with its owner in the cottage where the dog that attacked Nyla was staying decided to wander down the lane to my place. My boys went bananas. No more sleep for me. While I want everyone to enjoy themselves I hope these cottagers go home soon.

Deb did you have a show this weekend ?

Jen and Hailey just brought me down 2 dozen rhubarb muffins. I let them take as much rhubarb as they want. Yum!!

I have my colonoscopy on Thursday. I have to be at Napanee hospital by 7 am. A good friend is going to drive me as I will be having sedation.

Karen I had a big smile when I read your comment how about you have to grow your helpers. Hope you and Walt are feeling better today.

Wandered up to see Nyla earlier. Her owners like to sleep in but their daughter who leaves at 7 am for work put Nyla out on a her leash. I wandered up and had a cuddle with her. Yes Betty Nyla was on her own property when she was attacked.

Sharon Amazon is my mid of the night 'date' when I can't sleep. I poke around to see what there is to offer. The last couple of weeks I've been looking at the LLBean site in the wee hours of the morning. I got some excellent flip flops from them. But the other night I was looking at rain coats and found 1 I really liked until I went to the checkout counter. It was over $700 - nope not coming to my house.

Now that I have sat for a bit I can see and feel several bites on my feet and arms. Some of them are leaking so I had better get them cleaned up and some Benadryl in me.

Susan was camping this weekend, right ?

Be good to yourselves everyone.
