Pat, how sad for you. I think I would tell them that on June 1st. you have arranged for what ever is here to go to the dump. Of course that would mean they will just leave what ever is left, but might get them GONE. So sorry this is your son doing this to you.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit awhile and chat..newcomers always welcome!!
Karen, not sure how I am going to muscle a BIG motorcycle onto my pickup, or a 4 wheeler, THEIR SHED, and 1,000s of other things but trust me, it is ALL going, one way or another. Yes, I have offers of help and I am going to arrange for them to come June 1.
aw geeze, Pat - so sorry that they're not only creating a mess at your place, but moving junk? Sounds like their place is going to be a junk pile, too. June 1st - BYE BYE!!! If not, they pay for June rent too. I pray for you & Adam each night. Glad you have secured help.
I'm off to the Seniors' meeting this afternoon.
They will NOT have the option to pay for June.
Sorry to hear what you are going through Pat.
I agree with you. Put your foot down firmly and make it stick. Get out or else.
Morning,
Didn’t even check weather, think today will be nice but rain tomorrow, would you know Jeff and Braedon are coming to do outside work,oh well, think I can find a few things inside for them to do.
Yep Pat, worth $$ to have a company come in and make a trip to landfill site. Seems you have your home back but not. Hope the is gets resolved.
Deb, how exciting is that, just a tad over a month then you have your hands full. Did they have any idea how many pups. Do you have someone come in for delivery?
Had an attack yesterday just like I used to have when I was in and out of hospital for months. Sill not feeling 100% so will stay in my jammies.
Theresa, Rogers cousin came over to quilt her panel for baby blanket, as a thank you she went and got us pizza at pizza palace, within a half hour everything was com8mg out both ends. I should have known better, spices and grease, I’ve always said i had allergy to something they use as that is how it started before.
Pat and Don dropped in, Don who does profession stained glass brought me all his equipment and glass, hate seeing him give it away. I will try to find someone who might want to start up. Cost of doing stained glass has sky high so not for everyone.
Will try a hot chocolate, a nap and hope i can get outside at some point today for a tad of sunshine.
Maybe a lay down near a the pond
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Betty.
Praying what ever it is passes soon.
We have had lots of rain this past week.
I sat down with my daughter in law last night.
She had several fat quarters picked out last night and wanted to learn the kaleidoscope block.
She picked it up very fast, and really loves sewing.
I bought a book on the Kaleidoscope, I've read it /mostly skimmed and will get serious about it sometime. I do want to do one, even if it is JUST ONE!! It gave lots of guidance on picking the right fabric etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJFVenRKKlY
I'm not sure I'll ever do one of these! The Kaleidocope does look pretty though.
https://oneblockwonder.com/design-helper/#
Go to this page. Take a photo of the fabric, then load it in this page, then at the bottom, click on make hexies. It will show you what it will look like before you purchase the fabric.
This fabric in 2nd photo will look like the 1st photo when done.
Morning, rainy day here, was expecting Jeff and Braedon to finish off my Mother’s Day “to do” list but pouring raIn in not conducive to outdoor work so we changed it to Monday or next week.
Lindakay what a wonderful program..love the quilt inside.. I’d like to make one in black, grey and white for my bedroom but drats I have a little Xmas quilt to quilt from a year ago and haven’t done it so doubtful I will make one.
Wondered why I was aching so much this morning but rain and cold temps = aching bones, don’t think it’s missed one bone. Feel bad for those camping.
i am thinking that I might take a ride and do groceries, even a few flowers..want to pick up something 8n memory of Todd in my garden.
After this long week of freezing temps and frost all of a sudden Mother Nature has made everything green.
Did some baking, now time for a load of wash
How sweet of you to get something for Todd. Thank you.
That cake looks delicious.
Amazing how quickly things green up for you.
Betty, your garden looks so beautiful as usual!!!
I got up and sprayed chemicals like crazy. The weeds are small but plentiful and I want to catch them all now. I have bought some GOOD weed barrier cloth and am aiming at getting it down after these small weeds are killed. I keep hoping I can get rock put on over the weed cloth.... I REALLY need to do something about a hardscape LEVEL walkway along the garage so we have good footing to haul rock in a wheelbarrow.... there is always something, right??
Thursday Sharon & I cut down the big butterfly bush (we expect it to grow back as we did not try to kill the roots). We cleaned that flower bed and strung a new soaker hose in it.
A woman in our informal sewing group is going to have a yard sale this morning. The group was told she will even have a featherweight in the sale besides LOTS of fabric including some BOLDS of fabric. I will be there at opening. If she has some TOT in black or white or other "reads as solid" then I hope to buy some. REALLY hoping she has some of the greens I need. We'll see!
Later today we have a luncheon for the friend who we gave a "moving back into your house after fire" kind of shower. If was so much fun & she now treating us to lunch at her house. She lost EVERYTHING in her kitchen in the fire, so we got together and bought spices, flour sugar etc etc. There were some really fun purchases like gourmet Olive oils and other fancy stuff as well as the basics.
I hope you ALL have something fun planned today. We need more than work in our life. I need to hit the shower since I have been spraying chemicals and prepare to find the yard sale!
Quick drop in..
Lindakay, I’m not a rose person but know you and Todd had roses at home, i bought a big knockout rose, in the car because it’s raining, will take photo layer and you can give me some pointers
Blah weather day here too. Rainy and downright cold. I might even light a fire as the house is damp.
Spent quite a bit of time yesterday getting the outside spruced up. My weed whacker ran out of line and I didn't have a replacement . Darn!! I did the tango with the leaf blower for a few hours. I quite enjoy using it - weird eh ? Still have a few hours work left so hopefully tomorrow I can get it finished.
My Oriental Poppies which I have had for 23 years leafed out beautifully but there are no blooms. Have no idea why. I'll google and see if it can tell me what I should do.
Betty did you say Cullen Gardens closed down ? What a loss. Interesting in that the local nursery run by several generations has closed its doors too.
How are you feeling today Betty ? Right now even drinking water gives me heart burn. I had this several years back for months but then it went away. When I was at Foodland I bought a couple of bags of English peppermints. That is the only thing that seems to help. I have to watch where I put the mints as Zeke loves them. I try to keep some stashed in different places and couldn't figure out for the life of me where they were disappearing to until I heard Zeke chomping down on 1.
Linda I keep you close to my heart as I know this year will be hard for you ...... the firsts of everything without Todd by your side. I am so thankful you have your sons to support you.
Didn't sleep last night but am feeling the nods so will try and have a nap.
Stay safe and well.
aww Betty - that rose is a lovely thought, in memory of Todd.
I have 2 pies to make today, for Monday's town-wide lunch, for the town-wide Yard Sale they have every year. I promised I'd make a pie for the June 9th Senior's Week baking contest. I'm thinking, a lemon meringe pie with real lemon juice. Replace some of the cold water with real lemons. I bought a 5-lb bag at Costco's the other day, and now need to use them lol I made some lemon cheese, but it's not quite as lemon-y as the strore-bought stuff. Need to add more lemons.
Linda Kay - do NOT understand the picture in the linik you shared. It says to double click the picture, but nothing happens?! Am I supposed to use pic of my own?
Pat - keeping my fingers crossed that you get what you want from her sale. What a lovely idea, to give your friend a moving back home shower!
Just about ready to have hot bath, bowl of soup and cuddle in an electric blanket for warmth.
Don’t blame you Dianne for putting on a hot fire,.. maddening when you are gung Ho to do the weeding and no string. I also love using the blower, find it hard on the shoulders.
I have never done well with poppies or roses..seems odd after having them that long that they simply won’t bloom.
Cullen s garden apparently has been closed since 2017, i cringed when i read dozers came in all bulldozed all down, can’t even imagine who would do such a thing! Zeke
knows what is tasty..hoping tomorrow I can also work out in the yard, won’t be that nice, maybe low 60’s? Just looked out at the wheel barrel full of bagged soil emptied into it, well it’s now mud and too heavy for me to empty water out. Walmart had ears of corn Dianne for .33 each, bought 6 for lunch tomorrow.
Susan, lemon meringue is usually a favourite. I made chocolate as it was all i had left other than cherries. Lemons aren’t cheap are they so best you use them up. Problem is with pies you pretty well have to bake that day or day before other than making and freezing
Pat, did you not do all the stones a few years ago? What a marvellous idea Re kitchen shower, most expensive room Re filling cupboards.
Have the knock down double rose bush on back deck, hoping to find a sunny location for it.
Kyle moved with his tow truck an antique fire truck to next town over for a parade so took Grayson with him…he says Grayson was so excited!
Falling asleep on the couch, think i will make my
way to the bedroom.
Not sure this will work, hope it does as it’s Cullen Garden

I worked cleaning up the side of my house yesterday. That area includes the pool and Koi pond equipment, 3 greenhouses and my compost pile. I moved planted pots where they needed to be and then either threw away or put where it belonged everything that was there. I finished just i time fr the mow and blow landscape crew to arrive and thy cleaned up all the debris with their jet blowers. They had no more gotten in their cars, same as the landscapers next door, and a dust devil blew through our area and took every yellow leaf, pine seed and needles, olive tree seed and spread it everywhere. But this time, it was blowing toward my neighbors home that had the debris dropping trees. You could not even see the water in his pool this morning because of all the leaves on top of the water. He is a fanatic, so he has spent over 4 hours cleaning up his back landscape. He is a President of a large company but loves to work in the landscape. And he is 20 yeas younger than me.
I decided to not bother cleaning it up today because we are suppose to have thunderstorms again tonight and those always bring high winds.
My granddaughter and her family made it safely to Phoenix around 1. A new chapter in their young life.
Pat, hope you scored on the yard sale. Getting your garden back in shape will take some time. Probably something you need to tackle in early fall.
Diane, I am with you on thinking I have extras in gardening equipment but when I go to get it, cant find it. Usually after I have replaced it, I find it.
Linda, how are you doing. Vern will be gone 4 years, the end of this month, and it seems just like yesterday. Really weird, but some mornings I awake and roll over and am somewhat surprised he is not there. Like, last night, my whole dream was about us trying to get somewhere. Not a bad dream, just a family dream.
I never did learn to sew or bake. Too much precise measuring for me. I marvel at your skills.
Well it is that time for Emma's afternoon walk. Talk at you all tomorrow.
I have spread gravel in some places but have more area I want to cover. The "neighbors" did not do anything with the landscape, flower beds. I continued to tend them other than to ask them to turn the water on. I can't run a sprinkler if the dogs are out. They are labs, LOVE water of course and will tear up any sprinkler while it's on. I have very little on "their side", everything is either on my side or in front of the house and I maintain everything but their actual grass area.
I love the Knock Out roses, I will have to look for the Double Knock Out.
Dianne, Zeke should have GREAT breath!!
Linda, wonderful that you have a sewing buddy!! I love sharing my hobbies.
Sharon, don't you wish everyone's debris would stay on their own property? I am sure when my Silver Maple drops leaves & the blossoms come off my Dogwood tree the neighbors wished I had NO trees! LOl
The yard sales were a disappointment, but I did come home with a few things. I had hoped for better prices on bolts of black or white. I passed as the prices weren't that great.
Betty, knock out roses are really easy to take care of. Keep them watered, deadhead the old blooms.
Susan, lay out a piece of fabric, and take a picture. Then open the link I posted above. Click where it says choose local image. Find the fabric image you took. Once it loads, scroll down and click on the tab, make hexies. Keeping scrolling down and it will show what your fabric will look like.
Really cool tool!
as I said, Linda Kay - it doesn't look like something I would ever do. Too much on my plate, sewing-wise, as well as everything-else-wise lol Look how long it took (2016??) to do the Periwinkle quilt that Betty sent me the template for! I was talking to a friend tonight, and as they're trying to sell their place, she was going through some "found treasures" and one was the beginning of a Dresden Plate quilt. She had brain surgery about 15 years ago, and stopped crafing then. When I said I'd always wanted to do a Dresden Plate she said "you may get your wish". I know that she was thinking about getting back into quilting & I said that. She may, or she may not. I really hope she does. I mean, I'd love the chance on the quilt, but still.......... it is hers.
Betty - the Cullen Gardens. I loved the video. Any relation to Mark Cullen, of gardening tv show fame? He's also associated with Home Hardware stores, in their gardening section.
I was planting some pretties today, and weeding the yard of dandelions........... ugh.
I now have a lilac bush that will grow 10 ft tall.......... where to put it? I have loved lilacs since I was very young. Winnipeg has a LOT of lilacs in the city! Love the scent. Wonder if I will still be able to smell them? They are strongly scented.
Morning, told myself I wanted to sleep in today but 5:30 I was up and out looking for a place to put Todd’s rose bush, quite cool but so want to get outside and plant it but I think I am going to watch the day come in and see what gardens get the most sun. Lindakay this double rose bush says no deadheaded required which is to my liking.
Susan, my SIL Lorraine asked if I would be willing to make a quilt for her and the periwinkle came to mind but unless I come up with miracle no can do. I bought a template for various size Dresden plate and it was easy to make one.. think it was 4-5 I made one Xmas because they were so fun to make..all throws..you should use up your stash and make one. Yes, same Mark Cullens..
Pat how is it feeling for you to have the run of the house Again? Bet Stanley can’t believe all the space he has to get into mischief.what temps do you have, hope it’s a great gardening day for you.
Hope today is a good day for all of you..
Good morning everyone.
Betty, I have days like that. I try so hard to sleep in, and my internal alarm clock says not today.
Betty, I won't have the house until June 1, and then it will take a while for me to get it cleaned and ready for me to move back into. I have my garage full of the furniture I bought waiting for my space to be ready. I won't move ANY of my stuff in until it is well cleaned, and ready. it will be easier to clean, paint etc while it's empty.
I would rather avoid confrontation, but I am going to arrange to have people to help here Friday, June 2. Son & family were given the deadline to have their stuff out etc by June 1 and Adam gets back from work May 31, their LAST scheduled day here.
Well I am sure Pat you are counting the days, won’t be long.
Guess Lindakay we are early risers, body clock says “get up girl” and there we are maybe 3-4 hrs before the rest of the world gets up!
Got outside for 2 hours this morning then shoulders gave me the what for and I was frozen, couldn’t feel my hands and feet… covered myself up with heating blanket and
after sleeping for several hours it was back outside..I’d say I’ve got 1/2 my seedlings planted maybe tomorrow more will find their summer home.
Jeff and Braedon will either come tomorrow or next weekend, if they are here i will get them to dig up holes for the 2 carpet roses and Todd’s rose.
Was going to plant Todd’s rose out front but it won’t get enough sun so back gardens it will go.
I have heard of them but not used them. I no longer have a pond, I literally filled it in over a year ago. I'll probably get/make a water feature next year but not sure I will ever have a pond again.
Same here. Heard of them but never tried them.
Morning
Brrrr got to say it’s cold and windy out there, sun is trying to come out but having a hard time doing so.
Wanted to finish those seedlings but weather says maybe 3 early morning frost so not the best to inground plant. Yesterday I planted about 20 cosmo’s, they are so dainty, will have to go took if they froze last night.
As for the mosquito pucks, Darlene says you do not need a pond, get a pain, add a few grass cutting and set the so the skitters can lay their eggs, worth a try.
Coffee time, then vacuum and was the upstairs floors, if Jeff doesn’t come then i will just play outside, maybe divide a few hostas
Sure hope you get warm weather soon.
Don't over do it today.
Sun is out Lindakay, just the wind make it feel cool.
Says it will hit 66°f, could burn if it weren’t for that wind. Went out and did a few things and now I am on the hunt for my phone.. will have to get someone to call me..likely in the oddest place outside.
I am on the hunt for that stained glass blue heron, Lord knows where I hid it 😕
Got the three boxes that fit in different configurations out, trying to figure where to put it, think I’ve too much garden junk!!
Blue heron.... under the sundeck?
Checked closets, under beds
This piece is fragile i would have had to put it somewhere where I thought would be safe.
Leg and hip are bad, heating pad on it, next time I go to back shed I will check to see if it is hung up there,, I’ve been cleaning areas since Christmas and cat think where else it would be. I was so sure i thought best place to put it would have been to leave it in pot and over with plastic?? Hmmm, next I will look under couches
LOL... I have gotten so when I put something "away", I tell Marie and write an email that I sent to myself and store in the "Important information to be kept" folder of my email. It has saved me a time or two! Ahhhh.... the things we do to cope with life and our faulty memory! LOL
I thought same Pat, have a book to mark all these things in but Lordy it would have to be a big book…the piece on top of his head about 2” x 6” in blue is broken but that won’t take me long to replace
I am already in bed gabbing to mom, with her not going anywhere I’m hearing absolutely almost word for word of same think, i say “yes you were telling me” but she keeps saying same thing.
Glad you found your stained glass blur heron.
Hope there is fabric in those bags you can use.
I'm a tired unit. We had our town-wide yard sale, and of course we ladies were busy, busy, busy. selling hamburgers, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, pie & beverages We made $1335.00, but need to deduct the $$ for expenses - about $500 (less that, but not sure how much less). So a profit of approx $800. The pies are always a hit. So happy that 3 of the Red Hatters friends came to help. We would have been lost without them.
Tomorrow we're not going to have Wellness / Library - too tired. It's a good tired though.
