We got a special delivery just after 1 this morning.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit awhile and chat..newcomers always welcome!!
How special!!!
Congratulations Karen.
Pat, sorry to hear about the mess in your home.
It has been raining here, almost every day for about 2 weeks. Streets and rivers are flooding in the low areas.
Betty, I hope you got good news from the doctor.
Guess I can say good morning, suppose to be one of the hotter days.
How is Phil taking the move and knowing he won’t be returning home?
You explained the condition of the house to a “t”, right now you are on a high, getting your home back but the shock at the end of what you will find will be overwhelming, glad you have Marie.hugs dear friend…
I have been awake all nigh, woke up at 10:30 thinking it was morning and almost every hour there after… makes for long night.
Surgeon i saw yesterday admired her work lol , told me I can slowly get back into my regular routine but watch the lifting together.
Congratulations, Karen!! How sweet!! Boys?Girls?
Both boys.
Sounds like you need a nap today Betty.
I hate it when I have nights like that.
Waiting for the cleaning pros to show up.... about an hour from now. Afterwards I will have Marie & another friend to help me set up the kitchen, pantry & bathrooms after the cleaning crew is gone. I will hold off on the bedrooms until after I have painted. Same with the living room. I will need to hem curtains before I can hang them.
Marie has a whole set of stainless steel tableware to replace the set that was lost by the "renters". Sharon has new place settings for me. When Ben & I got married we kept all of his plates, bowls etc because he REALLY liked them, I never did. Sharon bought me replacements. It will be nice to have new dishes.
Happy house back, Pat So sad you have to go through all this. As they say "No good deed goes unpunished". I know the feeling well.
Betty - good for you! Now, take it easy & you Will get back to normal :)
I must have been tired, missed the post of those beautiful babies..2 boys..is this their 1st. How excited you and the family must be..know they have beautiful quilts to hold them dear. Hospitals are so different, some let mom’s and babes who are born early morning go home that night and to those born in afternoon go home in the morning. Their names are?
Lindakay, that is quite a difference in weather from what you are used to right? Imagine, flooding. Todd’s roses are still looking sad..says they like full sun but maybe I should dig them up and move??
How exciting is that Pat, starting off with new stuff, once it’s painted you will feel like it’s a new home..what does Stanley think of bigger accommodations?
Susan, they say no rest for the wicked.
It’s 75 here with a nice breeze, just watered everything and now I am thinking of watering me, a nice hot bath.
Was thinking maybe I would get knitting needles out and that angora wool and try that kitty cat.. a waste of time I am sure.
Babies are Jack and Rory. Each parent picked a name. They have big brother Arthur who's 3.It's going to be fun as Arthur is quite a pistol. He will behave when he knows he has to but is good at pushing the limits. You know? "Looks like an angel" They all went home today so the fun begins.

Well Arthur is adorable. How many does this make Karen. So pleased you are feeling well. How is Walt doing.
Pat, I am so sorry we were all correct and they left a mess. Shame on them. Assisted living home sounds like it is in the right location. My experience with my mother and my DH is if you are not there, they get ignored. When I first arrived with my mother, her room mate's daughter filled me in so I was there every day from 11am to 7pm when she went to bed. By the time I got home I was over-ready for a martini. Vern was at the same place for rehab and I discovered he was getting PT twice a day for 20 minutes each time. And he was sinking into a big deep hole. I just loaded him up one day and took him home. It was right after lunch and they didn't miss him until it was time for him to come to dinner. I was fortunate enough that I had the money to hire help.
Betty, I do wish you would find someone to help mow your lawn and the other heavy stuff so you could just play in the garden. Have you decided what to make for your Father's Day children craft clinic? Have I induced you enough to sign up for Instagram. No fees and there are some great DIY individuals on there. I love all the things they are making with resin and flowers.
I worked myself Thursday and Friday to a frazzle. . I raked and cleaned and left piles all over for the mow and blow guys to pick up. I was still raking when I heard one come around the corner and say "OH". But it is quite a bit easier if you rake it up and someone else cleans it up. I probably have two more days. I need to feed the tomatoes and roses. Need to replace some spring flowers but they will probably last another two weeks. I am still adding irrigation drips.
PS: Pat, I always took my Mother's and Vern's clothes home to laundry because if you didn't, they just disappeared one by one. Roommate's daughter told me that one also.
Hugs to you all.
Marie does the laundry and it STILL disappears!!! In a typical day she brings home 4 shirts, 1 pair of shorts and 1 pr of socks make it home, where are the rest??
Adam did try hard, he got everything out of the house and still needs to finish outside. When there 3 teens home & a wife, I would love to know where the rest of them were!!! The pros were to really to wipe down EVERYTHING, really deep clean. I am glad we had it done. Marie made arrangements to have this done as a gift.
To prepare for the cleaners, we had EVERYTHING out of that side of the house except 1 king bed & 1 twin & small bookcase. EVERYTHING was out of the drawers and cabinets, shower curtains down etc. Even the light fixtures all sparkle now! They moved all the appliances and cleaned underneath as well.
Pat must be a good feeling to have everything sparkling clean again.
Babies are home already.
Sharon, these are greats 21 and 22. How very blessed I am.
It is a great feeling! My kitchen is so bright and cheerful. I do need to buy & install a new blind in there. When the summer heats up & it needs to put the blind as it faces East into the morning sun. THANK GOODNESS it does not face West! I put my beautiful rose print sheers (I took them down when I saw the dogs and kids were damaging them).
John & his wife Heather stopped by yesterday with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, card & gift certificate as a thank you for the help I gave them rounding up stuff for John's apartment. It was a nice visit although cramped! It was during the cleaning and we had LOTS of boxes of stuff from the other side, plus I had started deconstructing my "pantry" to move the food to the other side. What a zoo!
Beautiful flowers.
Glad to hear everything is cleaned, and will be all sorted soon.
I am working towards that!
I talked to Judy a few days ago. She is still having medical problems. She goes in a couple of weeks to get her right side carotid artery done.
Please keep her in your prayers.
She's in my prayers.
Evening, everyone is so busy, was 75 today, light breeze…
I did a million and one small things and yet if one was to look it would seem like i did nothing, that kind of day. Oops fell asleep while typing!!.,
Morning everyone,
If you speak with Judy Lindakay can you tell her she is in my prayers… she should sure has had a time of it.
Doesn’t getting older make us smarter?? Pat I am so glad you did not undertake the cleaning of your home on your own. It will be a little dollhouse I am sure. Beautiful flowes, makes you feel so special and appreciated.
Karen, Arthur is too adorable, if anyone will lead Jack & Rory into mischief it will be Arthur.
Sharon I am at the stage of just playing in the gardens, more should be done not going to get done. Haven’t joined instagram, can’t find any of my passwords, when I changed iPad not all got transferred I guess. Do you take your garden walk, coffee in hand and enjoy looking for pretties and just broke into colour.
Been up since 4, time for pain meds and cbd/thc in hopes they can take the edge off the pain..grrr
Betty, Arthur will definitely be a ring leader for his brothers.

He looks like he could be an Ace Ringleader..lol
How are you both feeling today?
Deb, Happy Birthday..am sure the perfect day would be with your Afghans..
Susan, fires near you? Bet Dianne you have to be watchful as well.
Good morning everyone.
It's overcast and around 60*. Perfect weather to work outside if I can ever get my act together and get outside.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers to Judy.
Susan you were an accident waiting to happen on your holiday. Maybe we need to get more bubble wrap to have on hand.
The Hibicus I bought now that it is fully open is absolutely stunning. I'll make sure to get it inside once Fall arrives. I had 1 that I moved in and out depending on the season and grew to be massive. I had it for years and 1 day I went to water it and it was dying. Nothing would bring it back alive.
Karen what wonderful names for your GGs.
Pat you and Stanley must be in seventh heaven having the run of the whole house. Even though the upkeep from the 'renters' was terrible you can see what it will be once you have reached restoring to your standards. Very happy you got in some professional cleaners.
Think I will get out my crochet hooks and find something to make. That way it is easily moved from 1 location to another.
Betty I can't remember .... did you do the rhubarb leaves?
The fancy egg/bacon bread muffin I bought was delicious from the new bakery. I bought 2 double chocolate cookies and they are amazing. The cookie is so filling I can only eat 1/2 at a time. I'll look for the baker at the next Friday's Farmers/ Market although I think he only does the egg/bacon muffins on Sat.
LK have your nerves started to quiet down? That shooting was quite a jolt to your system. I'm sure it will be quite awhile before you don't flinch at the sound of a loud noise.
Deb do you do all your own grooming? I've become online friends with a woman in Colorado who has 4 Sammies. They are gorgeous and always well groomed. Turns out they go to a groomer biweekly. She calls them her Bears.
Heavens I feel a nap coming on. I've been up since 4 am. Strawberry full moon had a lot to due with the lack of sleep.
Be good to yourself everyone.
Betty, I will tell Judy.
Dianne, I still jump when there is a sudden noise. It will take awhile.
Dianne - bubble wrap lol yeah, the past 1 1/2 weeks I really was an accident looking for somewhere to happen!
Yesteday was the beginning of Senior's Week, and today a Nutritionalist was at the Senior Centre speaking on Cooking for 1 or 2. Good presentation. Tomorrow I'm going bowling in the early evening, in the next town over. Free to seniors & it's inter-generational so we can bring a young friend, Shoes are included. Great way to bring people back to bowling.
Friday I'll bake a pie for the Pie Contest, and will join a Crib Tournament. Looking forward to it.
Had a funny thing last night. We went to a fav. bar/restaurant last night. It's owned by family to folks who ownd most of our cruising drive-ins back in the day. So we can get our old familiar favorites (at a much higher price of course). We usually sit in a booth in the bar but it was full so we went to the front room. As we sat down I saw a young man sitting in a group at the next table. He was a dead ringer for my oldest great Payton who lives in TN. Of course I had to go up and show him and ask for a hug..because I'm a silly ole woman and I can get away with that. He was sweet as can be and indulged me. Made for a fun evening. Of course I had to post his photo and every one was amazed at the resemblance.
Glad you got a hug from him.
Afternoon, perfect day.. shut off A/C, opened all the windows and enjoying the breeze.
Karen i am much like you, love kabitzing with the young ones, amazing how they respond. Glad you got out for eats. I made small spaghetti sauce last night then didn’t feel like eating it. Haven’t had anything to eat yet today and tummy is churning so best I eat some.
I have 20 kids coming Sunday to make birdhouses for their fathers for Father’s Day. Bought everything I needed so thought I’d get busy today and get the kits ready, NOT..bought 2 rolls of the tacky shelving that i was going to trace the big yellow flower on, can’t find it, nor can I find the bag with 10 containers of black paint..grrr
Guess it means I have to make another trip to town tomorrow or Thursday, watch, i will no sooner purchase a second time and will find a corner I hid them in.
Was 5:30am i was up this morning, eyes are heavy so maybe an hours nap would help.? Even Ziggy just jumped up on couch so we boat must need to close our eyes..
Karen, isn't it funny to find someone that is such a match! A special hug for sure.
Betty, don't you hate that?? I try to be organized but I fail so often!
Susan, free is a good price! I have not bowled in years.
Dianne, OUCH, grooming every 2 weeks would cost a fortune. Stanely is being VERY noisy, MUCH more vocal and louder than normal. I think he is just unsettled and upset. When all the furniture and stuff stops moving around he'll be happier I am sure. He knocked over a headboard I had resting across a wall in the livingroom, while prepping for painting. Scared us both!
I will remember Judy in my prayers.
Linda, I hope your heart stop racing & you can put that behind you.
I have lunch with a former co-worker today at 2 PM.
My sister was encouraging me to get bids for the painting that needs to be done. I can't afford it ALL but I am having the 3 bedrooms done RIGHT NOW!!! Long story short, I picked up the supplies yesterday & did some yesterday, contractor is at the house now. I will be able to get those rooms put together and me moved across the house. I bought a 2nd cat dish, water fountain & littler box so Stanley can be contained on EITHER side when necessary and know where all his stuff is.
I have been "shopping" online for the curtains and throw rugs. I picked up a cute area rug from Marketplace. It was what I wanted, used and just $15. I couldn't find a better choice new (I tried). I hope to have the 3 bedrooms put together a week from now.
Betty, I couldn't find my prescription glasses. I am suppose to wear them when I drive. I do not go far from home so usually do not wear them. I needed them for my DMV eye inspection when I get my license renewed in August. I searched every place including every drawer, twice, pantry, garage, under seats of my car and could not find them. Housekeeper was here yesterday and she searched under furniture and bed. Still no glasses. She went to out my comb in my drawer next to where I get ready in the morning and there were my glasses. I had looked in that drawer many times and could not believe it. She even took a photo to show me where they were. They are now in a glass case.
Karen, I always intrude on the young ones and they are so obliging. Helps to have whit hair.
Pat, we are all anxiously awaiting your move back into your home. But not as much as you are. Professional painters do a better job and much quicker.
Linda, I am so sorry you had to go through that. The whole world has gone crazy. Have you decided if you are going back home or are you going to relocate nearer to one of your sons? I feel more protected living about 10 minutes away from my daughter. Close, but not too close. And I wear an I watch. So if I fall or whatever, and I do not respond, it notifies my daughter.
Susan, how are your Senior festivities going? You are one busy lady.
I have the majority of the landscape rehab completed. Just a few more things to do.
We are having unusual weather for June. Usually in triple digits by now and next 7 days we will be in mid to high 80s. Beautiful weather.
I have a board meeting at 2pm on zoom. So i need to go comb my hair.
You al have a wonderful day.
I have decided to sell my home in Del Rio. I will stay in Amarillo with my son and daughter in law for now. I will eventually look for a home here.
Betty, I couldn't tell you how many times I buy something, put it away, and never find it until I go buy more. Guess that is why I have 10 rotary cutters for quilting.
What a gorgeous evening, windows are still open and a beautiful breeze has a chill in the air..should sleep well tonight (at least I am hoping).
Don’t think it’s an age thing putting things away and not finding them, everyone is sooo busy these days that our minds don’t have time to take it all 8n.
Sharon, with a giggle would make me mad, looking and looking in same place and not seeing it. I did not find the rolls so maybe I will get everything done on the cat birdhouse kit except cutting the flowers on the shelf paper till Friday when I go to town.
Lindakay, think it’s a wise choice to be a loser to family, but home is home.how long did you live at there??
Pat, know I couldn’t afford a painter, i see what Greg/Mel paid for their place and it was discounted because it was friend of a friend. Glad some of it is being done, less for you to worry about.Stanley might be fretting because of dog scent, Stanley may be worried that behind every corner out will pop a dog.
Perfect weather for you then Sharon.. i think I might get one of those medallions in case I fall, mom should have one as well.
Chuckle, chuckle, i have about 10 rotary cutters as well, ..been sharpening mine, sharpening gives you a bit more time. Blades are so expensive now.
Ziggy enjoying the breeze
When I did some clean up/ decluttering at Marie's (AT HER REQUEST), I took out more than a dozen she had tucked away in a drawer!! She told me had gotten them in some grab bag. I told her they had to go!!! She could keep total of 4. One for travel, one on each of the 2 cutting boards and a spare. Everything else was "clutter"! She didn't use them.... I have ONE favorite and 2 others that are in sewing travel kits.
The kitchen is where I am REALLY minimalist! For the most part, 1 of anything is enough. If it's dirty, I'll wash it.
80s.... that would be divine! 70s even better!!! Our hot weather is starting.
Pat, in my kitchen I have at least 10 frying pans, probably over 20 pots and pans and I seriously need to get rid of some. I use probably use 5 of them. While I was looking for my glasses I found many items that just needed to be pitched, which I did. Housekeeper took some and the majority went into the garbage because they were pieces of items I no longer had.
Board zoom meeting took longer than it should so I got no gardening done. I might go out after dinner and try and remove some spent plants. Wednesday is the morning Vern's old caregiver comes over and Thursday I have a meeting with the HOA landscape crew, so Friday I might get everything done. I am so close to being finished.
I have not eaten yet but am not hungry. I have a hot chocolate collagen drink in the morning but didn't get one this morning.
Emma and I just got back from our afternoon walk. Need to feed her and the cats and settle down for the rest of the day.
Stanley keeps nibbling on my fresh flower arrangment and then throwing up. Guess the arrangment needs to go in the garbage, the tulips have already gone limp anyhow. Oh well...
Yes, I think Stanley still expects the dogs to pop out of "somewhere".
I wanted to at least use the weedeater and start the clean up "next door" but the weedeater is not working. I tried my other battery for it. Not sure what is going on. I sure do NOT want to buy another weedeater!
Contractor got all 3 bedrooms painted and the baseboard trim on the master bedroom. Still need to get the trim on the other 2 bedrooms. He will be back later today.
I ordered replacement platform bedframes to replace 2 of my other frames, one an old Captains bed, the other traditional low frame that requires box spring and mattress. By using the platform style I will be able to store stuff under the bed. I will need to rehang the curtain rods and new curtains. It seems like a snails pace as I have so much "waiting" for .... contractor, order to arrive, seeing what the wood floor looks like, yatta yatta. Patience was NEVER my long suit.
But you ARE moving forward and it's what you want so....WIN, WIN WIN
Linda Kay - are you forwarding your mail, or do you have a new address you're using?
I got in touch with a Community Lawyer & she called this morning. Setting up an appointment with her on June 14th (free), and she'll set me up with a half hour chat with a lawyer for advice on June 20th (also free). This is to go forward with a divorce.
Crib this afternoon.
I have moved to Amarillo, Texas.
605 N. Manhattan St.
Amarillo, Texas
79107
Yes, all my mail is being forwarded.
Betty, we lived in that home for 27 years.
