That's a LONG time Linda. You are brave and strong, know that I pray for you and so do the rest of your DG friends.
Susan, I am glad to hear you have some lawyers lined up. It's been a LONG haul. This July I will have been divorced for 19 years. I married Ben 2 years later. I KNEW I wanted to remarry, guess I wanted an opportunity to get it right this time. Ben was a kind, gentle man that loved me unconditionally. I miss Ben daily.
The floor in the guest room looks pretty good, I will just add throw rugs and not worry about carpet or other treatment. .
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit awhile and chat..newcomers always welcome!!
Evening all,
Susan, great news Re free advice Re divorce, glad you have found the right agencies to help.
Pat, did you change colours, hope you took before and after photo’s
So laughing about storage space under beds 😂, in what I call Mom’s room I have 2 knitting machines stored, under bed old back bedroom i keep patio cushions from fall to spring, can’t store anything under my bedroom bed because of bed electronics, like tonight my bed is almost in a “u” position..been thinking one day of going through tote in mom’s room closet, photo’s that nobody would know who they are or where they were taken..maybe take photo of those I think someone would want and put them on a memory stick. That closet is a good candidate for purging then think what i could store in it lol
Major decisions Lindakay, selling, getting a place to call your own or staying with your son..overwhelming for sure. Thank you for your new contact info. How are you filling up your days?
Now that is a lot of frying pans Sharon, I’ve 3 and think it’s 2 too many.a. Not a lot a cupboard space in my galley kitchen so a load of things get put in the stove, likely why i dont bake or cook a lot, too much work to take them out and then back in each time. Think if I got rid of things i don’t use It might help. Have a deep fryer, about 15 years old, never used, could get rid of it. Maybe i need a house cleaner for a few days who will throw out anything they think a person doesn’t need. Can’t imagine what my family will do when time comes.
hasn’t been a good day here, slept all afternoon, been since Sunday, must be weather playing havoc with my bones, trouble using steps front door and back entrance. This afternoon I decided to get the dehumidifier out, hoping that might help, at the end of quota for pain meds. Grrr
I took out the heating blanket and put it over my legs hoping it gives me some relief.
Drats, Ziggy won’t come in, I’m so comfy but guess it’s up and at it or I will be up worrying. Hot chocolate and pop corn just came to mind
Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.
My son keeps me busy when he does tattoos for customers.
I also got my sewing machines set up. We bought some fabric to make curtains for the front porch. I need to make a baby quilt for my neighbor back in Del Rio. Her daughter is 8 months pregnant.
Thanks for the update on your address, Linda Kay.
Yes, I'm happy to be able to get some advice re: divorce. Twice married for 23 years before them going "South" is a long time, and I'm Not ready to remarry. Too set in my ways. And I don't do anyting casually so not in for companionship, or anything else.
Tomorrow morning I'm going for a Senior's Appreciation Luncheon in another town, meeting up with Dianne.
Does anyone else know of a Senior's Week in any of your areas?
Tomorrow I'm making a pie for the Pie Baking contest on Friday and there will be prizes, then at the same place (Friday) Dianne & I are entered into a Crib Tournament. There will be a Continental Breakfast.
Gosh, it's nice to be appreciated, but I think they're trying to fatten us up lol Lots of pancake breakfasts have been provided (each day, it seems) lol
The pie I'm baking is an Atlantic Beach Pie https://food52.com/recipes/29939-bill-smith-s-atlantic-beach-pie I've never made one before, but it sounds very good for a summer pie.
That naughty Ziggy! That would drive me crazy. Poor Stanley, I don't give him a choice, I don't allow him outside.
No, I have not taken any "before" pictures. The faster I forget the mess they left, the happier I will be. Yes, I changed the colors, I went from light yellow to a blue undertone gray. I don't know if I will stay with the yellow in the living room. I don't think the gray would be very attractive against my sage walls in the kitchen. Who knows?? NOT done yet.
Doing some sewing for your son's home will be fun!
Morning, overcast, says perhaps a few drops of rain later in the day bit good chance of rain for tomorrow.
Susan, keep up this pace and you will burn yourself out..that pie sounds delicious.
I am sure they appreciate all the help you can give them Lindakay. Have you planned out the baby quilt? Do they know the gender? Are there many quilt shops in your region? I have been thinking of Judy quite a bit, please tell her she is inmy prayers.
How are you and Walt doing Karen? Have you seen the twins yet?
Dianne, is the fire smoke affecting your area? Rain would help.. did you have your appointment with your eye doctor? How is the injured dog, want to say Luna, but think that is incorrect.
When Rita and I were in California, we left Las Vegas and spent the night not far from where the fires were, remember our last part of our journey to SanFrancisco we could see the smoke and did smell like we were /wing roasted.
Pat, i can hear excitement in your posts, i am sure it will be a doll house when you are done.
Sharon, are you getting the great temps or is it starting to reach 100°f.
Deb, how is mommy doing, is she having any problems during her pregnancy, won’t be long now..here is hoping for 4 puppies.
Did some watering and fed the mosquitos, i must be down a int of blood.
Think the bought I’m going through is my fibromyalgia, i never relate anything to it as I always think when doctors know nothing about what you are going through they say you have fibromyalgia, hoping today is a good day because I have a busy weekend ahead, Saturday is my regular 5 students and Sunday 18-20 doing fathers Day workshop so best I put my big girl pants on and say get with it as so many more are worse than I.
Have a lady to is dropping off a rose of Sharon sapling this morning, haven’t had luck with them, try again. Todd’s rose bush it struggling big sigh, should I only be watering the roots of a knock down rose bush? My ground cover rose bush shrubs don’t seem to be doing anything..know I should stay away from anything that has rise in.
Ziggy came in at 11:05pm, now he is laying next to me sound asleep..
Work calls me, have to sew on end pieces on the banner so I can insert the handles for Evan and Mason to carry it, have to drill mini holes for kitty whisker and glue backs on the bird from, i should really paint one so I know how it turns out. Most important is to finish putting what fabric i am keeping that was donated anywhere than corners/tables of my craft room..busy day but at the end of it wonder what i will get done.
Have a new student coming at 4:00, that should be fun then it’s to bed and soon Friday.
My neighbors daughter is having a boy. No I haven't thought of it yet, but need to get it going.
There are 5 quilt shops here I think.
I will let Judy know.
Betty, your Candian fire smoke has made it to Texas. About a week ago it was really hazy here for a few days. My son said it was from the wild fires in Canada.
The TH and I have been hiding in the house with the windows closed. The smoke has been terrible. It's been cool so we aren't sweltering. For a couple of days I could hardly see the lake for the haze. It's somewhat clearer today but there is still a shelter in place unless you absolutely have to go outside. The regional HS track meet has been postponed plus all outside activities were cancelled. The TH are antsy - no walks.
LK I am so happy that you have your son and his family for support. I understand completely about you selling your house. For me when Warren transitioned we were already living in our little piece of heaven and I have no family so staying put was right for me.
Had to put a stop to my weeding with all that haze but sure need to get back out there.
Karen I chuckled about you meeting a twin to your DGS. How are you and Walt feeling ?
All this talk of purging has me itching to tackle a large closet in the den. After Warren finished his 8 years of teaching in TO and moved back to the farm house we had 2 of everything. It wasn't until we built that we managed to get rid of all the extras. The local community sharing was overjoyed to get all of our donations. Should have tackled that closet while I was inside but a couple of good books came my way. lol
BBL
Betty - I burnt myself out a long time ago, and now I'm catching my 2nd wind lol
I heard about the firess in Quebec - the smoke is coming here. My, but there are a lot of wildfires in Canada.
Wow Lindakay, 5 quilt shops, Lordy when you feel like getting out to check what they have maybe there will be something different you can share..you know we sewers enjoy new gadgets and new patterns. So many adorable boy quilts, you will enjoy picking pattern, bet they miss you!
Glad you are in spending quality air time indoors, lots of warnings going on all over the region.. i thought of you with being closer to Quebec than I if you were really impacted..hate to think of all those who have breathing problems fighting for air if they can’t stay in.
Purging, something we should talk about more about, i really need to get to those cupboard and pots and pans.
If that is your 2nd wind kudos to you for having so much energy.
Says no rain til during the night but looks like it I’ll rain any minute.
Been laying on couch since 11, trying to talk myself into going to my friend Ann’s for piece of driftwood, go to Foodland for soil so i can plant the 5 rose of Sharon Evelyn dropped off, get my script and be home for young Madelynne who is starting her 1st sewing class tonight that way I wouldn’t be rushing tomorrow
Look up Japanese Elm and see what you think. If it is, KILL it before it REALLY takes hold!
Ooops.. I meant Chinese Elm. It is what is commonly called a "trash tree". In other words, a NONdesirable! invasive tree that horns in & is a pain to get rid of!!! https://www.google.com/search?q=chinese+elm+tree+pictures&sxsrf=APwXEdeb7By49Sbqq_nJg7BDyMyqGJDISg%3A1686337700197&source=hp&ei=pHiDZIrpCezNkPIPh9ihqAo&iflsig=AOEireoAAAAAZIOGtDiSAV2VR4hrJvE9P7gvUtzHKv_k&oq=chinese+elm+tree&gs_lcp=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&sclient=gws-wiz#imgrc=N44ffP00FznD_M
They invade landscape, roses, butterfly bushes & other woody bushes & are VERY difficult to get rid of.
My SIL Sharon & friend Frank came over and installed the new doorbell, and motion sensor light over my garage. Neither of those have worked for the last 2 years or more.
Now to get my curtain & curtain rods up, another step closer to operational bedrooms.
I was going to say ‘cut it down’. I cut down a lot of saplings yesterday, lots more to be done.
Rained here this morning the cleared up, drats could have used an entire day or two of rain.
Spent morning in town shopping, crazy crazy as it’s the butter tart festival this weekend then dropped in and got some driftwood from a friend Ann, she and her husband make the nicest furniture from tree limbs and driftwood. She gave me a plant that grows like a shrub, will get large yellow flowers, i already forgot it’s name, can be about 3’ high covered with large yellow flowers plant, can be invasive but I will watch where I a plant it. Her gardens take my breath away, the art in it is unbelievable, her hubby is making me a peony tree limb support. Her gardens are more on the manicured side while mine are country, where there is a space I fill it in with another plant lol.
Stopped in. To see Gayle, friend who taught me stained glass, she is fighting cancer, just finished her 3rd bout of chemo, she was in good spirit. Pat had made her a lovely hat with a scarf that twined through loops in crochet hat, Gayle loved it!!
Pat gave me the pattern, need to get skein of specialty cotton which I hoped to buy this morning but wasn’t braving the Main Street in Midland set up for festival..street closed so would have been quite a walk.. i will check when next they are open and will get supplies needed.
Was just putting things away and Cathy dropped in for a visit, then Theresa that i helped make a baby quilt week before last dropped in to show me end result
Now it’s rest time
