Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Garden time, let’s sit and enjoy our gardens, decks and great company..all welcome!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, you are right of course. We prioritize our projects (whether consciously or not) and as we finish up projects, more rise to the surface, THEREFORE never getting done! LOL

One of the things that bugs me like crazy if someone uses my car or truck & takes the extension off. The extension moves the attachment to a place less painful for my hands. I also have a pad that is Velcrosed to the strap to pad it against my shoulder & neck. My skin is very sensitive and anything against it is annoying if not downright painful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That would annoying Pat, nothing like everything set up for your own comfort and it gets changed, seems to take forever to get I’d back into position.

Oats so humid right now, i went down to Foodland to get hamburger buns, craving cheeseburgers but then i saw the hot food area and bought dinner instead..
Brought in all the goodies from Darlene in, now to find a place for them, but not before i have an afternoon nap.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hubby was in a good mood this morning. They have had him walking short distances, but he can't do it on his own. Too weak from losing so much weight and malnourished. We have known for awhile he has been anemic, and even after his infusion in April, we were told he is now severly anemic, and his hemoglobin levels are almost critical. So they have been given him iron infusions, as well as blood infusions.
We were told today, unless he significantly improves in the next few days, he will be moved to a rehab place for physical therapy. He can't come home until he can care for himself.

Victoria Harbour, ON

well Lindakay it sounds like he is in good hands and just maybe being at a rehab place will do him some good. He has been through so much..still no update of what they found. Would that mean you will stay in San Antonio?

Karen, are up you feeling ok?

I'm OK Betty. Thinking my blood might be getting a bit low but no critical yet.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, I hope they can find a good Rehab close to home for you. Ben's last rehab was between my work & home, the location was such a blessing. I could stop & see him every day on my way home from work. Two different times he was in facilities over an hour away, that was tough. Especially the one during a particularly snowy winter.
I pray that Todd can get the care he needs & you will get the rest you need. Now for positive lab reports!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, hot and muggy, thunderstorm all night and it’s still rumbling.

Karen, can’t get it thru my noggin why they let you get so low, why when you feel you are getting weaker they don’t just give it to you.

Slipped my mind Pat that the could find a rehab closer to lindakay’s, what a blessing that would be.

Was half asleep when a documentary caught my eye..was called “Love, the final chapter” made me so sad..al about the aged in homes, or at home with their spouses trying to live out the last of their life..made me very sad!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No lab results yet. I was told 3 to 5 days, but because it was a holiday weekend, it probably won't be before Friday.
This old lady isn't happy, sitting here waiting for results.

Verona, ON

I am under a severe thunderstorm watch which is to last most of the morning. Fortunately the TH are not bothered by loud thunder at all.

Had planned to drive into Ktown this morning but the rain is just coming down in sheets. I had wanted to go to WM as they had 24 Nestle water on for $1.97 here in the village it is $6.50. That is complete nonsense. Prices always go up in the summer here as we have so many tourists who are willing to pay the price. I remember once when I was at IGA a person came through with a huge bag of cherries. It came to almost $25 and when I mentioned the price she just shrugged and said it was a summer tradition they have doing for almost 20 years and she would pay the price. After that I started telling people what the cherries would cost when weighed and gave them the option of just taking some of them.

Oh LK I hope they can find a rehab for Todd closer to you. He sure has been through the mill as you have too. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for you both. Did I understand you right LK that you are back home now ? You make sure you take good care of yourself.

There is a family of rabbits that are taking quite a delight in prancing around right outside the room the TH and I use the most. My windows are almost to the floor so there are lots of nose prints to clean every day.

Considering the weather I think I will get my rug hooking back out and work on it today.

Deb how your weather been ? I am not quite sure where you live but knew bad storms were moving through your state.

Susan did you get everything planted ?

My Hosta are gigantic and with this rain will be even bigger. I think I am going to turn my largest and my only flower garden (the rest are containers) into a complete Hosta garden with different types of Hosta.

Karen I am happy to read you are feeling OK. Karen you have no idea how happy you make me when you post and talk about your family. I last saw my brother in 1996 - ya we are a close family. It was different when mom and dad were alive. Our mom was a challenge but dad more than made up for that. I was so blessed to have him as a father.

Well I have put on 8lb in less week and I have no idea how. With this heat and the skeeters I haven't been walking as much. Very leery of the ticks. News casts report there will be a bumper crop of ticks this year. Last night I dug out one on my rear right shoulder. I don't know how I missed it as I check myself and the dogs every night before bed. It had obviously been there for a few days so will call my GP and get some meds.

Liz how are things in Cali ? Any news about Judy? I was thinking about her last night as I was saging the house - there has been so much bad juju within these walls the last couple of weeks. Judy sent me some sage years ago during the Christmas exchange.

Stay safe, well and have a blessed day.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sure can understand Linda, To them just a job, to us our life is on hold waiting.

Betty, It's mostly my own fault. I should call when I start feeling the effects, and I don't. I think it affects my thinking too so I just don't see it. Walt does he sees me starting to stumble.
Call in today, going in for draw and see Dr.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, know how frustrating it is, you feel so useless, want the results so you can start with the healing process..one feels you take one step forward and 3 back
Prayers and hugs

Glad you are making an appointment Karen before your stumbling turns into a fall and broken bones.i am sure Walt keeps a good watch on you..lucky you.

Dianne we had the storm but it wasn’t bad what I saw of it, of course I can sleep through storms.i wish I lived closer Dianne, i have about 60 hosta plants which should have been divided and could have shared.bunnies, ah how cute, i have a few pretend ones in the yard and some days i look again as they look so real. Yep, when Sailor girl was with me it was a dull time job cleaning the screen door, so much so I bought one of the new ones that the window is on the top.

I just out away all the stained glass supplies Darlene gave me except for the gr8nder and saw which is still 8n my car…i looked at the bags of tape not yet open and they range from $6-$8 which are now $25

Yikes, 8lbs, that is good though right, didn’t you lose a lot of weight through the winter?

I’m in same position Dianne, triple the price here at Foodland because of the tourist but I’ve only about 5 miles to Walmart and all the big grocery chains..that is absolutely ridiculous Re water..almost worth putting 8n a system of purification re Lake water.

Sharon dropped in, she wanted to show me the jelly rolls so got, 2 jelly rolls in blue tones/yellow, yardage for binding, no background fabric nor backing and was $283.99 with tax and free postal because of being over $200
Isn’t that sad

Odd to make myself a cheeseburger, have a young one coming at 4:30 so best eat earlier.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good news from Texas today. Todd was up walking the hallways with the physical therapist today, all his numbers that were critical yesterday, are normal today.
I thank each and everyone one if you for the prayers. Doctor said if he continues to improve and not go backwards, he can possibly go home Friday.

Verona, ON

That's indeed good news - it's great news.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

That's great news Linda. I know the blood and iron infusions are almost magical they work so fast.

I spent 3 hours at Drs' today. Mostly waiting and getting blood drawn. They did squeeze me in so not unexpected. Not any results today. Except my Hemoglobin is down to 10. Low but not super low for me. Walking like a drunken sailor.

Oh Lindakay that is good news indeed, miracles are abound when we pray as a group..now to continue prayers for the results to be as exciting. Friday is not long away, should he go home and encounter some difficulties would the local hospital be able to give him care. Todd must be feeling better just knowing his numbers are up..doing happy dance

Karen, glad to hear the fit you in today but 3 hours is a long time to wait..that being said it’s better than going downhill ..is great news you decided to go instead of waiting.

You would hate to be driving and get stopped and asked you to walk a straight line.

If I was a good sister I would have said I’d go with Sharon to the city to pick up her doggie, she had to meet Graeme who shows him, he got his USA championship as well as Canadian championship but my shoulder would not have been happy. Speaking of Sharon , I’ll see who of you I have on messenger since having to have get another account and send a video of Sharon eating breakfast the other day..today I had to carry her coffee and her muffin..you will see why

Had Peighton tonight and i saw the way i bend over from the left to show them different things I aggravate the shoulder..I’ll have to put my arm brace on when i teach.

I’ve got the lamp together, just don’t have the metal piece for the top, will give Gayle a call, hoping she has it, if so i will take a run in the morning.

Ziggy sitting beside me looking at me as though to say ‘it’s bedtime.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Great news Linda Kay!

Betty, I just watched that video. Is it even safe for Sharon to be driving with tremors so bad?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Deb it comes and goes, today to me it was bad but not as bad as it was Saturday. She took video because you have to know when you go to specialist in a few weeks her hands will be as steady as a rock..she used ti hand appliqué and hand quilt, when she did that doc said it bypassed a relay. Apparently there is a pbrainbsurgery that the take a couple of nodes out and no more tremor, that would be a rough decision. She thinks she isn’t bad enough for that, I’m thinking she is

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LK - your "prayer warriors" are always here for you. Glad he's doing so much better.

Betty - I agree, should she be driving? She's too close to the problem, and it's gotten so gradually worse that she doesn't see how bad it is. I agree with you, I think it's bad enough for that. Did you show her the video?

Dianne - I haven't planted yet, although a lot of my friends have. I've just been overwhelmed with "stuff'' like my appointments with my denturist, and the myriad of volunteering I have to do, like the Library, etc etc etc.

Did I tell everyone that Bob didn't show up on Monday for his court date? Next no-show & they put a warrant out for him.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, if I was ever asked to walk a straight line, they would carry me right off to the hoose-gow. Might as well just stick my arms out for cuffs.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Maybe. You took on a little. Too much all at once Susan..with taking on all the. Positions it leads to so much work, maybe you should drop one, am sure they would i understand.

How stupid can he be, when sentencing comes up should he be seen as guilty they will throw the book at him .

I planted 5 tomato plants, they are doing ok, the yellow beans i thought the birds ate all the seeds but today i saw they are coming through the surface and my cucumbers are about 2”..just playing with that 3 tier garden box Darlene gave me.

Well, Sharon just messaged me, she is home from picking up her dog so now i can go in deep sleep i hope.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes karen, just tell them to do the breath test & skip the walk test. I am glad you saw the MD, even if it was a LONG wait between patients while they worked you in.

Such good news Linda! Now waiting for FRIDAY's Good news! Prayers continue.

Susan, Bob is a special kind of idiot. I hope this ends soon for you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I called specialist office to make sure they had my referral, recording of course, says that Dr.Harris because of being booked 1 year ahead cannot take new referrals.

I called back to Dr. Land to see if Dr. Harris had perhaps confirmed appointment during this upcoming year but no response, so guess I did not get on the list. Secretary will let doctor know and see what can be done.little to nothing i think as
Dr. Land had told me it would be a long time because there are only 2 who do this kind of work in 100 mile radius it not even on a list? Sad

I called dr’s office back to let her know and see if Dr. Harris’s office confirmed referral and she said no

Sooo in short guess I won’t be seeing a specialist.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That is so frustrating! I am sorry you got caught in the referral Black Hole.

Verona, ON

Betty what about a referral to a specialist in TO or even London? I know there would still be a long wait but I would hope not a year +. I know I am reaching but being in pain takes its toll.

Did you vote Betty ?

Voted bright and early this morning. I got a robo call yesterday from a candidate if I hadn't already voted to please call their 800 number and someone would come and pick me up. I was like "What???" I went and checked the date on my registration card. About 2 hours later another robo call apologizing for the error. Not much of a choice but I could hear my dad's voice in the back of my mind "Get out and vote, people worked hard so you could vote freely" On voting day he would come home from work, put on his church suit and go vote.

LK any news about Todd ? I sure hope he gets to be home tomorrow.

Karen I am so happy you got to see the MD. When I was voting this morning a RN who used to be at the Doc's office was telling me she was back half days M,W, F as they are just swamped. All these young recently graduated doctors either want to specialize or want to be in a big city.

I really need to get the grass cut. Hopefully I can get to it tomorrow afternoon.

Stay safe and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

The specialist was to have been in Scarborough Dianne, apparently only other was in Markham, sad situation for sure.yes voting was such a privilege to the older generation, my grandfather would get off work a few hours early and as you said, grandma ad grandpa would be dressed in their Sunday best. Companies by law had to give them the hours off, there wasn’t advance polls nor poles open til evening.

I also should have gotten my grass cut today but did not..Wednesday was too hot, today too cold, here is hoping tomorrow is the day for both of us.meant to ask, are your USA neighbours here for the entire summer?

Lindakay, how is Todd doing today, is he still feeling better where he may go home tomorrow, praying he does.

I am meeting Sharon at 8:30 tomorrow for fabric shopping in Barrie,, grass cutting then groceries midland.

Bernie and Charlene just got back from florida, maybe Sharon and i can drop in and say hi tomorrow on our way home.

In bed, trying to find a spot that lessens the pain, minute i turn my head it shoots up my neck/left shoulder, not complaining that I’ve no problem on my right side..aren’t i a complainer

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

M hiredy teen mowed my lawn with borrowed mower, We got mine fixed and grandson got A & A's side mowed.

It's stormy now, high winds and dirt, very icky.

Carrie says my next trip projects are the guest room. I bought a used Queen metal bed frame for my oldest son's guest room. He HATES the one he got from me years ago. It is a platform style but was missing some of the supports. Although the supports I made for it work wonderfully while STATIONARY, it is not easy or fun to move.... so I bought lower old fashioned frame with wheels.

My next trip there, we will replace the curtains, put the new quilt on the bed after changing out the bed frame & I may finally repaint the door & frame. Whoever worked on that room before Dana & Carrie purchased the house, literally just ran out their paint roller on the door. I looked for a throw rug for the laminate floor but didn't find one that went with everything. I'm likely going by the end of this month.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I've found if you speak to the Right member of parliament (one with a heart & the power to DO something) you can actually win the war against the stupidity of office workers. I told you how Revenue Canada was insisting that I need to prove my identity? Well, I emailed my MP and his assistant (Amy) called me Monday morning, heard what the gov't was putting me through, and asked me to send her the same info I sent to R C the beginning of March. I did, she called me Tues afternoon, and told me that I'd been underpaid on my pension & to expect a good lump sum in 5-10 business days. It's in my bank now! Also, R C finally called me back today, and I have the direct phone # of the person who's both getting my ID problem fixed and will also take a look at my taxes to get my refund. I'm to call him when I can, tomorrow, and he'll see if the fax that's been sent to them AGAIN. My MP's office also has a copy of everything that's been sent to R C already so they have backup that it's HAS been sent before.
Also, for our Senior Centre's Open House, our MP is coming too! He's on his way to Ottawa, and will stop in to visit us, too. How wonderful is that? It should draw a few more people to our Open House :)

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

WOW!!! Isn't that wonderful Susan! You are right, contacting the RIGHT person is almost ALL the battle!! You go girl!
Phil did not get his MRI this morning, the machine is not working. ;-( Phil & Marie are back home now. I am headed there & she & I will work on the longarm machine. We will master this computerized beast yet.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great news Susan, ye, one gets blessed if you get the right person, some can’t be bothered but there are others who go far above their mandate to help. Must make you feel good…special bonus having your MP attending open house.

Hope Phil Par won’t have to wait for weeks for his test..disappointing for sure but an extra bonus for you and Marie to play on the longarm..do you have quilts sitting ready to be done.

Went to Lens Mill in Barrie with Sharon, she asked me twice if I could drive, i was in a lot of main and she thought I should drive..we were almost in Barrie so i finished driving then she drove home.

We stopped at Bernie’s, was nice seeing him and Charlene

Had a nap then into town, got what I needed at Gayle’s, bought more bevels so should be able to start my 4th Christmas gift.

Dropped in and visited with Darlene and John for1/2 hour,
did my groceries and thought I could get grass cut but it started to rain, only enough to stop me from doing it..any excuse is a good excuse lol

Time for bed…

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

NOT going well with the longarm. Yes, I have several quilt tops ready to put on the longarm. I walked out in frustration today.

We had quite a severe rain storm at Marie's & no rain at my house, go figure!

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is too bad about longarm Pat,is it the computer part that is giving you trouble, is it the bats and setting it up
.

Lindakay, are you and Todd home?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LK - was Todd coming home today? Oh gosh, I hope so. It's always nicer in your own wee bed, and where you know where everything is. Prayers for you both.

Pat - yeah, what's up with the longarm? You must have been really frustrated to have walked out on it! I can just picture you scowling at it as you left the room lol Put it in the corner for being a bad longarm lmao

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I actually left because I was sooooo upset I was having a difficult time not swearing loudly!! I am not one that would normally throw anything that can be construed as a temper tantrum & I am not about to start that at this age.

I talked to Marie this evening and she called the shop after I left. The owner is coming out next Saturday & she will work with us again. Frankly I did NOT find her helpful at all in regard to the program when she did last time so I am only minimally hopeful. She is awesome at loading & pantographs, free motion. Unfortunately, THAT is not the part we need help on!

It is the PROGRAM we are having trouble with. Tomorrow I will change it to manual mode and see if it gives me trouble. At least then I should be able to tell if it's software or something else.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone.
No, we are not home.
This emotional roller coaster never stops.
Turns out that all these people telling us we will be going home soon, never should have opened thier mouths. Found out the hard way, only the surgeon will tell us personally when we go home.
Hubby has had many setbacks. Now he is being treated for critically low potassium and magnesium. Always seems to be something.
He still can't eat or drink anything.
Looks like we will be here for a bit.

Verona, ON

Oh LK I am so sorry you and Todd had your hopes dashed. I learned out the hard way when Warren was ill not to believe anyone but the head oncologist. Betty had the same experience with her Roger. I am sure this setback is not helping you both . Sending positive thoughts and prayers.

Looks like I might get my grass cut today or tomorrow. Perfect weather except for the mosquitoes. I haven't been sleeping well and just want to go back to sleep this morning. I might just do that as I have not just been myself for the last week and making lots of silly mistakes. My balance is way off and I really don't want another fall. Sounds like I am making excuses to justify to myself that going back to bed is a good idea.

Oh Pat you'll get the hang of the part of the long arm that is giving you problems. You are a solver - you just need some time. After it is all good you will have a chuckle at yourself. It was a good idea that you decided to walk away.

Susan I am so happy to hear your finances are going to be looked into in your favour.

Stay safe and well.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh no, Linda Kay......... you & Todd sure didn't need to have someone flapping their gums to no avail. Reminds me of a saying I saw recently "A wise one speaks because thay have something to say. A foolish one speaks because they have to say something" (sic) Ain't it the truth!

Pat - good luck on the longarm. I'm sure that you'll eventually "get it", and you'll be wondering how you did without it.

I'm off to Calgary today, to see friends, and to take a part of the Loom I sold that got left behind. A very large & essential part - one of the rollers lol I was tired by the time I got all the pieces out two days before she picked it up & should have checked in the shed to see if I got it all. Ah well, it's given me the impetus to go after all, to Calgary.
I saw a new counsellor the other day (the mandated one's time was over & she was wonderful, but now I have no one to talk to about what's going on in my life & I find myself adrift. I blush to say it, but my house is looking like I don't care anymore. Don't have a dishwasher, but if I did, it would be full. My sink is full, and only do dishes when I run out of something - cutlery or plates. I only make what I can, in 10 min - tv dinners, or sandwiches. Last night I heated up 4 chicken nuggets in the air fryer & didn't feel like eating anything else. That's not to say I'm losing weight, quite the opposite. I guess it's that "grieving process" they talk about - I've lost my husband & with him dragging things out, it doesn't allow me to go on with my life. None of my friends come around to visit Only 1 seems to actually "get it" because she's a very dear friend, and she lost her husband to illness 4 years ago. She knows everything that has gone on, and is very supportive. She's also my trasurer for Silver Willow, and a lot of our conversations are either about SW or gardening. Apparently she & I were at the same thrift store (it's large) and she saw Bob near the entrance. I saw "someone" but I didn't see him. I make a point of not looking at men. Too many people have tried to "hook me up" with someone, and frankly, I'm skittish. I'm trying to shake myself free of this slovenlyness, but it's hard.
I need to get away, and maybe this will help, going to Calgary.
On the PLUS side, my colour printer that stopped working & I unplugged over a week ago, is now plugged in again, and it's working! Kept having a "USB error" and refused to print. I need the colour printer. I'm making a label for a prayer shawl, and also a flag for SW that has our logo on it, and "Silver Willow Senior Centre Welcomes You". Dragging my heels on these things too. I know they need to be done, and after they're done, I have another prayer shawl to make.
Oh well, off to Airdrie to take the roller, then Calgary to bring some Blue Willow dishes to friends.
Chat later, everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy Lordy, lots of sunshine out there but not so much in our lives..I cam in for s9me juice but think I will sit for a moment and pray that the lord will spare a few miracles for you all..big arm wraps as Judy would say.

The few minutes of silence were the Lord to watch all over you!

Lindakay, don’t want to put myself in your shoes, all are different but I’ve been there, I think they try to give hope, something to hold on to because the reality for me was too earth shattering but they did not do eith Roger oR myself any justice..i remember when people called I’d give them the great news, next day bad news and 9n and on, am sure they did not believe me. I started to write because of a lady that was with her 3rd child she had die of a rare disease, all were born before she found out she was a carrier, only her son lived, anyway she told me what was very important was for me to get a log book and mark the happening, what I though and one day it would help me..i did and think it was over 100 pages..if i need a good cry i read it.

How often do you see the specialist? Think maybe away from Todd you what to ask him exactly what is hapoen8ng, the truth, no watering down..

Hugs

You can only do what you can do Susan, perhaps it might have been better not taking so much on, give you time to heal..just take on one little to do daily, even just one, if you are up to more then take it on but just do what you can do.

Dianne, perfect day here but so far no mosquitos, shouldn’t have said that, watch me go back out and get eaten today death.off to bed you go, your body is saying rest.

Had a knock at the door last night, was new our across the street, he was fixing his driveway to be a little wider and bought too much river rock, asked if i would l8ke h8m to put some down on bottom of ditch i have so much trouble with..took him an hour, looks nice and clean. I should get the long part out front done if this side works.

I cut the grass, and picked out some stray flower, those that overtake the gardens, I will tell you right now, know you will not be happy but i can’t stand those trip cement bubbler columns to be cleaned and working…HARD and HEAVY job, cement and metal plate. Might not be able to do it but go8ng to try and promise i won’t mention I’m in excruciating pain later,promise..worse that I can happen is I can’t fo it
