Amazing sometimes how unhelpful Drs. are and sometimes just plain terrible. Finding a good one any more is golden. Too bad they don't shine so they would be easier to spot. We are at their mercy, they can lead us down an awful path, we have no recourse.
I know I sound bitter. I have good reason to.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Garden time, let’s sit and enjoy our gardens, decks and great company..all welcome!!
Oh no. They shouldn't keep things like that from you. That was wrong
Todd just left him room to go for his scope and biopsy. Praying we don't have to wait long for results.
LK sending positive thoughts and prayers for Todd.
I've have just been without power since around 5 pm yesterday. It was restored about 20 min ago. It is 67* right now and beautiful outside except for the biting bugs. I am in the screened in room with a breeze off of the lake. I have a generator but thought I would wait until morning to fire it up. When the power first went out I wasn't concerned as that often happens to us.
I've cleaned the fridge freezer so will do downstairs and see what I have to do there.
Stay safe and well.
Kai just freaked last night when I got out the Coleman lamps and some candles. He had never seen them before. Sometimes I forget because of his size he is sill a puppy.
My bites have simmered down and now just look like mosquito bites. I swell and the bites get quite red. I think it was just the number of bites that made me react so badly.
Sun just came out, everything is so wet.
Lindakay, you must be frantic, likely be a few days until results come back, waiting is so hard, you want to know yet you don’t. Is he in SanAntonio hospital? Hope it’s a local one for you.
Likely Dianne that is the case, so many bites it virtually poisoned you.so you spooked Kai lol, yes he is a big boy to remember he is but a puppy.
Karen, with all your experience in medical field you know the good doctors from bad.
Mom just left, she was nervous to go home, i told her she best not wait til she is so sick to call. Although she was no trouble at all it sure is nice just to be alone.
I hung the stained glass piece in her bedroom, looks nice, of course the box the the lamp Sharon had given me with stained glass panels for duck lamp came out..2 panels I need to find pieces to finish it, nope not enough so wonder how ill fluke it.
Doesn’t need to be 100%, will still make if I can fix it be a nice Christmas present for my godson Paul, either for his cottage or hunting camp in Quebec..
Wish you could help me Dianne, several of the panels when adding 1/2 strip was soldered crooked, if I tried to take it apart I’d damage the glass for sure
We were in Norms Garden, roses, small perennial shrubs if you can believe it were between $39-49. So i came home with nothing except 2 little cherry tomato plants.
Mom though found a butterfly feeder, I just mixed the hummingbird food and see if I can attract them.
Bought 3 bags of black mulch, will nap and take on clearing around the rhubarb stepping stones with mulch to clear that walkway. Need some in front garden but that will wait til next trip trip to town.
Maybe a nap then find my rubber boots and get a few hours in
Linda, big prayers coming from Las Vegas. If the tumor is blocking the bowel, they will do surgery right away. I watched the news today about Del Rio. I think our government has lost its mind. I just do not understand why this is happening but I have been saving that for months.
Betty, so pleased you have your home back to yourself. Our high today will be 89. We had a little cool down but we will head right back up later in the week.
They said the Monkey Pox is similar to small pox and if you had the small pox vaccine, you shouldn't get it. But they also said people don't get the small pot vaccine anymore. So younger individuals will get it. The government will use this to come at us again. Not this old lady, I will stand up and fight.
Someone has broke into Brian's condo and is living there. Not only that but they have cut a hole in the wall of the garage and gone through and cut a hole in the other garage and slowly emptying all three condos. Found items in Brian' garage that are not his. His two recliners, that were totally drowned by the water from the fire, are being used in the garage for sleeping and someone has been sleeping upstairs. There are work boots and suck in the bottom area that are not Brian's. Called the police and they said it was not an emergency and waited 4 hours and no one showed up.Kris, my SIL and I went over and put the boards back up and secured them. Mold is growing on the inside walls. It has been 8 months. New management company as of April 1st. What a nightmare.
Diane, those bites sound so painful. We have nothing here that flies and bites. Guess something to be said about living in very dry desert heat.
Susan, where are you?
Linda, did I understand that Todd had NO BOWEL MOVEMENTS at all for 30 days? and they did NOTHING but tell him take more laxatives and enemas? Goodness, I would say they were NOT listening to Todd!!!
Betty, you had a VERY brave intern. He went around his superiors to tell you the truth. I think Rogers doctors were cowardly to avoid telling you the truth. Avoiding the truth was NOT helpful to you or Roger, not at all.
Sharon, that is so discouraging to have squatters in your step-son's condo. For the management to simply not deal with any of this should be criminal offense (or probably is criminal!)
Dianne, you are probably right. You had so MANY bites that you were really poisoned by the venom of whatever it was that bit you.
Karen, I hope you have found good doctors that you can now depend on to be truthful and honest about their limitations & your options so you can always make an informed decision for your own health care.
Hi - I'm here, and doing well (BUSY, but well).
LK - you & your husband are in my prayers. A month of not "going" Horrible! He must really be uncomfortable, to say the least!!
Betty - glad you have your own home back, and wish your mom would agree to a senior's home. Naughty Ziggy for getting & staying out!!!!
Sorry, but it's been crazy busy here with me being president of one group & secretary/treasurer of another. At Senior's meeting on Thurs, it was Lively, to say the least. Tomorrow is the town-wide yard sale, and Silver Willow senior's society traditionally puts on a lunch for the town & whoever else brings stuff to sell (vendors, on tables out in the street. They come from Calgary, etc). Anyway, we all bake pies for the lunch, plus provide hamburgers, cheeseburgers, pies & refreshments. I made 3 pies, and signage to go on sandwich boards.
We have an open house on June 12th, and I'm replacing the Union Jack with a Silver Willow flag I'm designing. It'll have our logo on it, and "Silver Willow Senior Society Welcomes You". I'll print the wording & logo onto fabric. My printer isn't working with my computer, and black & white just isn't going to cut it, so I'll have to run back & forth to Wellness centre & use our printer there.
I sold 8 bins of vinyl records the other day - made $300. Will hold onto that for the new winter tires I've been told I need next winter.
Gov't hasn't issued my refund. I've been TRYING since the beginning of April to get onto My Account on their website, but with everyone workig out of their homes, getting stuff done with the gov't is............ taking a long time. They mailed my faxed info to another department in the gov't - actually 2 different mailings and this held things up. Apparently I need to be "verified" and they were to have called me by last Friday or I need to call them on Tues. Once I'm "verified" they'll release the refund. Not sure how verified I need to be. They asked for personal info, got my voice print checked, know my kids' names & marital status, plus info from previous years' taxes. Maybe I need to send in a DNA sample lol I laugh, but it's really not funny. I sure could use the funds.
What a busy life you have Susan.glad you posted. Sounds like you really have your group in a whirl, forward and upwards.
Government is moving slowly, you need to get in there and organize them.someone sure needs to.
Laughing at DNA reference. Best of luck on your Open House
Glad to see you post Sharon, there just are no words, it’s unthinkable what is happening to Brian. Now what would have happened had it been someone with no home to go to?
89°f is still to hot for me..are you eating tomatoes yet?
Believe i have chicken pox vaccine as well as the shingle vaccine so hopefully i won’t be one who comes down with it..my children have same so here is hoping.
Pat what did you get up to today.
I’m already in bed..all meds and creams used! It took the 3 bags of black mulch just for the walkway, also 1 wheel barrel of weeds out of that bed so you know why i am,in bed.
No rain tomorrow so I made a list of to do’s that i think,is,impossible to do but i work better with a list, a challenge.
Ziggy is happy, has house to himself.. sure hope Bella aces having all her teeth out.
Lindakay, any updates..if you are in San Antonio will you stay at your son's?
Church and then a few miscellaneous follow up things. Yesterday I got some more of Marie's clothes sold ($120) and more calls made to find potential buyers. I have a goal of $270 by Tuesday, that is when we leave for Prosser Quilt inn. That will cover our 2 nights. I have $190 for far!! I need to get pictures taken & list a few more things.
Adam & Andrea had the "First Home Buyers" seminar yesterday. It's a special program that helps couples with buying their first home. I noticed that he finally got the 3 car batteries moved that I have been nagging him about.
I have a woman, Melissa, coming for the first time tomorrow to help with cleaning. I have 3 HUGE oak teacher's desks in my sewing area, and they are nearly impossible to move. I will have Melissa clean under them & help me with a few other projects that are difficult for me.
Marie hired Melissa for several hours at her house last week and was very disappointed, however Marie was not there to give detailed instructions etc. We were warned that Melissa needed a lot of "hand holding", so we will see. Although it be fabulous if I could give instructions and walk away, that is not what I was expecting. I was looking for HELP, so maybe I'll fair better than Marie.
Yes, I was correct. No bowel movement for 30 days plus.
They gave him 2 enemas yesterday and 2 today. Still no movement. Dr. Said he can't do the scope unless he at least moves a little. If enemas don't work, the will have to manually try to remove some, and he was told it's not a comfortable procedure. If that doesn't work, then he will have to have surgery.
Thry have him on it fluids, and a clear liquid diet, but he can't consume more than about an ounce as he feels full. He is in a lot of pain, but the morphine helps control it.
Thank you all very much for the prayers.
Dianne, so glad to hear your bites are getting better.
Poor Todd, thank goodness the morphine is working.maybe it’s best they prepare for surgery to see what is happening within. Hugs and prayers for both of you.
Pat, sounds like a great sale..you really can’t blame Melissa, some work much better with a list and guidance. She will do better under your direction, one on one work8ng together..
Hope the seminar helps..how does he like truck driving?
Lordy, I was in a deep sleep, woke up and thought I was in Ukraine, half the town have fireworks going. Can’t imagine
those poor people hearing the sounds get closer and closer not knowing if they will be hit.
Now to fall asleep again
Betty, I forgot to say he is in a San Antonio hospital. 160 miles from home. I am over here too.
My oldest grandson is at our house, watching the house and dogs for us.
He is happy, as he gets to play his computer games when ever he wants.
Those are horrible dreams. I hope you can get back to sleep.
Glad you are near Todd.. nice your grandson is able to help out.
No wasn’t a dream, was all the firecrackers going on throughout the community.. wide awake and Ziggy took off when the closest of them went on
Starting the day with prayers for Todd and sending emotional support for Lindakay.
Brrrr woke up to 39°f, feels like 37°f but promises 59°F.so it will be a gardening day for sure. Sure hope i don’t find frozen pretties in my garden.
Home Depot doesn’t open till 8 so I’ll vacuum and get my top floor washed until ready to head this town.
Hmm maybe i will stop for a Timmy coffee and donut. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could say I will just pick one up.
I agree Betty, I can't imagine Marie left Melissa the first day. Marie had told her what she wanted & showed her at the time she was hired, and Phil was there, but he is NO help at supervision etc.
Here's hoping and praying that Todd will be able to pass something on his own & manual removal will not be necessary. A blockage is miserable, and I can't imagine a whole month of it. My BFF Paula has to guard against that daily. She takes supplements daily to help her avoid that. With Todd, I am sure the tumor is adding, if not totally causing, the problem.
I think the seminar was a reality check. They will need at least $8,000 for closing costs unless they can convince the seller to wrap that in the sale price. In this market, that is unlikely. Adam is not "on the road" yet but still in training in the "yard", moving trucks & assisting with helping other drivers get the trucks aligned up at loading docks etc.
LK, I'll add my prayers to the rest, and hope that Todd won't need the manual removal. Sorry to hear he's been in such pain but at least the morphine is helping.
Today we had our town-wide yard sales, and Silver Willow provided lunches for everyone. Were supposed to be from 10-3, but ran out of hotdogs, and finally hamburgers by 1pm It's a first world problem to be sure. between the wheel to spin & win stuffed animals, selling 3 old wooden tables & renting another one for the day, we had a take-home of $661.70. That was after the price of the food.
On Wednesday is our bottle drive and June 12th is the Open House. Busy times to be sure. No time to work on the garden, unfortunately.
$661.70 sounds like a VERY successful day! Good job New President!
Susan, bet they love your get up and go attitude, that is a good amount of $$ for a small community organization. They are lucky to have you.
After 8 hard working hours in the gardens i think i woke myself up..wanted to rest a few times but pushed myself..looking so pretty.. Charlie brought me my yellow Angel trumpet..now where to showcase it..
I was thinking of having a garden tea party this summer..such Beaty should be shared. Good idea/bad idea??
Pat was it today you worked with Melissa??
Prayers being said for Todd and you Lindakay
did they give you any idea on how long before the results come in?
Good morning everyone.
They attempted to do a 2nd scope yesterday morning. Still no success. So a surgeon came in about 4 yesterday afternoon.
Told us that surgery will most likely take place by the end of the week.
They want to start with a CT scan with contrast, but because he is severely dehydrated and malnourished, his kidneys are not doing well. So they can't do the contrast or Surgery until they get those kidney numbers up.
So they are going to install a Pic line for nourishment, and more IV fluids. Hopefully in a day or two his kidneys will be well enough for scan with contrast, then they can do surgery
Surgery will be to remove the tumor, send it out for testing. And install a colostomy bag, for his stomach to empty.
46°F out there this morning, high of 66°F mostly overcast
Pat will come this morning, not so sure about June.
Have 1/2 hr to get the craft room looking presentable
Dropping into check up on Todd, do hope the pain is not so intense and answers come.. hardest part is not knowing.. my heart goes out to you..
Linda, sending hugs to you and Todd. This has to be so very painful. Hoping for relief for him soon.
Thank you all so much. They took him down this morning for another CT scan. Pic line will be installed today. They also put him on oxygen, as his levels were dropping.
You must be frantic Lindakay..
How I’d Todd taking all of this
I am scared, but need to stay strong.
Surgery will be Friday, they will remove the tumor and put a colostomy bag in place. Then we wait for the results.
Sunny day here,
Lindakay is Todd in less pain now? Will the bag be permanent or can the procedure be reversed. Prayers continue for both of you.
Bad day today, feeling at a loss, keep thinking of all those parents in Texas who sent their babes to school, not knowing it would be their last day on earth. Just sick about it.
Surely the 2 USA parties can agree on something before your kids, grands, great grands are safe.
Off to do the floors the outside
LK - my heart goes out to you & Todd. It was asked how Todd is taking all this - how IS he doing with all this happening to him? I know you're both overwhelmed in a way I can only imagine.
As for the Senior Centre - our take-in would have been much higher if we hadn't run out of food 2 hours early. I regret that I didn't take pictures of the event. I took my camera, but forgot it in the melee. One of our members (I stress *1* and she's a new member) wants us to have a luncheon every month. This month is special every year because we have the town-wide yard sale & people come from all over. There's no way we could repeat this every month, plus the fact that we aren't a restaurant and we want to have FUN things to do as well. Today is our Bottle Drive, and 2 of us will be at the Centre receiving bottles, plus going to our Auto Shop in town to pick up a truckload of recyclables. On June 12th (Sunday) we're having an Open House.
In July we have our annual member's picnic. We can only do so much.
Apparently Revenue Canada is checking me out to see about Identity Theft, and therefore are running me through the wringer. Back in the fall of 2020, I got a letter saying I may be the victim of ID theft & to call them. I did & was told not to worry, it was fine. the beginning of April I hadn't gotten my tax slips to file for my Income Tax. They eventually sent them out (every one I know was affected). I filed, & others had gotten their refunds. Beginning of April I faxed in all the verification info they needed to get me back online to view My Account. Didn't hear, so 2 weeks ago I called & they said I needed to call my bank because they sent my refund. Bank said no, so I called them back. Someone would be assigned to my file, and I would get a call. No call, so yesterday I called again - "no bank stamp on your void cheque". Bank has now faxed the void cheque to them, with their stamp, but still no one assigned to my file, with Revenue Canada. Just spoike to someone who said I may indeed have some changes to my file that would be a red light for being at risk for Identity Theft. Well, changed my bank accounts within the same branch, and my marital status has changed. I now have to wait for my file to be assigned to a reviewer who will call me & ask personal questions. I am to ask the reviewer to put notes on my file, then call Rev Cda and check to see if it was REALLY from Rev Cda. Check, double check, and verify, and check again. I asked them if DNA testing was next.
LK holding you and Todd close to my heart. It is so hard to watch everything going on and not being able to do something to help.
Oh Susan what a fiasco. I had something similar with Bell Canada's cell service. Initially they were going to charge me with fraud. What a mess. Needless to say my
cell plan is NOT with Bell.
Glorious day here. I spent all morning outside chipping away at my chores. I had to take my chainsaw down and cut up a tree that had fallen across the lane. My American neighbours were arriving sometime today. They had called me yesterday to see if they needed a generator. They had heard about all of the terrible storms here. The TH were all agog when they drove in - no one drives past our place. I could just see then thinking Who was that ? Why were there going down the lane ? It will be a big adjustment for the TH as they think of that property as theirs.
I need to pressure wash the siding on the house. I am toying with hiring someone to do it. Between the house and the steps down to the lake that is a lot for me to do myself in a timely manner.
Lots of rhubarb to share - wish you were all closer.
Sorry to hear you are going through so much Susan. Praying they get it all straightened out soon.
He has had this problem going on for almost 2 years. He would complain to the doctor it was hard for him to go to the bathroom, because he had been on iron pills. He was told to take laxatives, which he did when he felt it was needed. Then a few months ago, he was told the iron pills weren't enough, he needed iron infusions. Which he very reluctantly went through. No one told us that the infusions were 1000 times worse than iron pills. No matter what he took, he could not go potty. So he was sent for a colonoscopy, he told the doctor that it had been 2 months since he last had any movement and that he was in a lot of pain. They sent us across the street to the ER, where they did the CT scan and we were told he has complete blockage from his tumor. We came to the San Antonio hospital, where he was admitted. They tried giving him multiple enemas and they did not work. So now they will do surgery Friday to remove the tumor and place a colostomy bag so they can hopefully drain his tummy.
Someone please tell me why men are stubborn when it comes to doctors, until it's almost too late.
Because he hasn't been able to eat or drink anything, he has lost 45 pounds in the past 2 months. Severely dehydrated and malnourished. They have had him on some special IV drip with nourishment, because he can't eat. The colostomy bag will most likely be temporary. Probly up to about 8 months.
It is so sad about all those precious children in that school.
Linda, Todd is in my thoughts. Seems to me the Drs. could have been a bit more proactive instead of letting him suffer this long.
I have the iron infusions too. No problems from them or the double doses of iron I take.. I'm a long way from constipated so I guess this is one wee small benefit.
Karen, I totally agree. But we have to deal with what we have.
Glad to hear you don't have any tummy troubles from the infusions.
Morning, light rain here..will be great for the gardens..
My heart goes out to you Lindakay because I know all to well about stubborn men and doctors, mine waited too long…😓. When I look back there were so many signs that i felt guilty not calling doctor myself..in a month he was gone..cancer had been there at least a year. I remembered one day watching him in sooo much pain, they would not give him anything because they said the liver would not break down the meds, he was dying, what difference did that make?? There was a drug store across the street, i went and looked at pain meds,so tempted to buy some but i did not!
As for bowel movement mine has always been about a week + but no cause of concern because that it my normal..just cannot understand how doctors would leave it so long, had he been to many appointments these past months.
So glad surgery will be tomorrow, then waiting for biopsy news, all too overwhelming, perhaps results from operation findings are quick. Meant to ask, is Todd still working or is he now retired?
Susan, so much fraud and scamming going on that we are the point of believing no one. Sure hope you can get is cleaned up soon.
Dianne, what a woman, can just imagine you out there with a chainsaw..TH people shy? are you getting this rain?
Karen, you are sooo lucky to be alive…
Yesterday afternoon i took trim off the metal frame the cats ripped the screen, this morning I took it to Midland and Templeton Glass will have it ready for tomorrow afternoon..becoming Ms. fix-it.
Got all my floors upstairs done so now i can play, trying to finish that Lamp i got in pieces from Sharon so i can move on to something else.
Everything is so lush and green

Betty I know I am but there are days I question the lucky part. I end most days with my bottom sore and bleeding. A slather of A&D ointment heals it through the night to start again the next day.
Bright spot, call yesterday my diabetes shots will now be covered by the manufacturer. Was disparaging as the cost had become out of our range.
Know same, the fighting daily just to put in a day and know tomorrow is no better becomes overwhelming.
Great news on the coverage..something I don’t fret about here as very few meds are not covered so one less worry seeing many seniors are on fixed income.
Prayers for Todd..will be thinking of you both tomorrow
LK - prayers for you & Todd. Yes, men are stubborn about going to Drs. My BIL was the same way. He got prostate or colon cancer, don't know which, but suffered with it until it was too late, and my 1st ex (gawd that sounds nasty put that way) was stage 4 lung cancer before he did anything. Too little, too late for him. He was a heavy smoker, so I'm really not surprised. 4 packs a day.
Well, I thought my life was going pretty good (Revenue Canada was a hiccup in life, not something I'm worried about. Frustrated, yes, but not worried). With the sale of the vinyl records, and the sale of my weaving loom & warping mill, I was going to have $1100 and that would pay for my winter tires & have about $500 left. Well........... flash forward to this morning when I must have thrown my upper dentures in the garbage (which got taken out this morning) and now that $1100 is all gone. I called the denturist who made my dentures and he said to call ADSC (Alberta Denturist Services......... something). I have 3 years before I could get discounted 70% for replacement dentures, BUT, they are allowing me that discount NOW so in 3 years I won't be eligible for replacement, but I would in 5 years.
The Good Lord is looking after me with my mini-windfall so these expenses of my tires & teeth are taken care of. I'm feeling blessed.
The difference between the $1100 & the teeth/tires is $1.52 more. I think I can handle that LOL

Oh Susan, I am so sorry to hear about your dentures but it sounds like you got it under control now! THANKS goodness!
Linda, you are both in my thoughts and prayers.
Karen, I wonder if there is a product that might provide better coverage/healing? Have you ever tried "Butt Paste" (ya, that really is the name).
Betty, I think a tea & garden tour sounds like a lovely idea.
We had a great time in Prosser. glad to be home.
Rainy morning, no grass cutting til Sunday.
Waking with thoughts of LindaKay and Todd.. there are no words at times like this to calm your fears so i am sending prayers to the Lord.. with all of us praying how could the news not be good news.hugs..will be watching for updates.
Susan, glad you are not worrying about rev Canada. Holy wash you sure brought in the $$$, must come up with something as i need snow tires as well and it won’t be long before i need them when you consider how fast the months a4e going bed.
You have things under control, a schedule, future needs, amazingly strong lady.
70% off dent7res, wish we had that program, i need new dentures soon, should go get an estimate, likely out of my price range..after having plates for 55 years and gums all shrunk doubtful new ones would have good fit, scares me to pay mega $$ and not wear them..
Pat, you will have to tell us all you got accomplished while away..any new ideas?
Perm at 9, washed my hair so i don’t have to lean back in the chair to have it washed..when it comes to the other 2 rinses I kneel on chair head in zinc.
Later this afternoon i will head into Midland, need to pick up the back deck screen window i had screened, bringing that 3’ blue heron I did so many years ago, he is tired of sleeping under back bedroom bed lol
Made a list Re groceries, don’t need much
That will be my day, How about yours, long weekend for most of you, any celebrating?
LK I am holding you and Todd close to my heart this morning. Sending positive thoughts the surgery goes well.
Men and their health !!! Warren kept complaining to me about a back ache. I kept saying he was talking to the wrong person. When he finally went to the doctor it was Stage 4 cancer and he was gone within a year.
Susan my biggest fear is that my dentures will disappear. I have to make sure they are put into a cupboard every night or my counter surfer Kai would have them down and chomp away.
Speaking of Kai he bit me on my hand yesterday while we were walking. It came out of nowhere. Rotti's PSI is even higher than a Pitti. I cleaned it up and keeping an eye on it. If he bites me again he is not welcome in my home.
Betty I have the same weather - rain until Sunday. It is a nice gentle rain so the farmers will be happy. Is Mel feeling better ?
Good morning..It was Thursday and now it's Friday. Walt had an appointment at Opthalmoligist yesterday. Shortly after he left I started feeling queasy. Shortly after that My stomach got rid of what ever was bothering it. I crawled back into bed and except for some bathroom runs, it's where I stayed until a couple hours ago. No clue what's going on. I haven't taken my meds as yet, waiting to see if I can tolerate anything first. Just had some cottage cheese with apple sauce, so far so good.
Linda you and Todd are in my thoughts today. Hoping your report is a good one.
Pat, I actually have tried "Butt Paste" it does work but is gunkier. A & D works well for me with less mess.
Diane, did something happen to set Kai off so he bit you? That's awful, and very dangerous if out of the blue.
