Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Come sit & chat..newcomers always welcome!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Clematis like sun, lots of sun with "their feet in the shade", so plant something as the base.
Way to go Susan! Scoring a grant is great news!
Karen, you are so lucky to continue to have your sweet Walt.
We did not get thru all the training today, we will resume tomorrow about 11.30. That is a good time for Marie, she was exhausted today. We have haircuts in the morning.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

This particular Clematis...And don't ask which one as it has fallen completely out of my head.....does not grow really tall, but oh the blooms, it is covered.
Just looked it up. It's Taiga Clematis.

Verona, ON

Can you believe it - we have a wind chill factor to deal with !!!

I need to start a pancake fire so will BBL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Weather we had must have headed your way Sharon, what is a pancake fire,

Absolutely beautiful out there, Marie helped me take apart some old fencing laying on the back, it’s never seen so I’ve never cleaned it up but now that Sharon has me thinking gardens I am clearing it and i will see if anything grows

What a fire we had, tried not to get too close.

Pat I am sure it’s better to take info in small doses, learning all day I cannot do.

I will go to the nursery Karen and see if they have one or something similar, and will check as to what area has sunshine during the day then shade early evening.

Deb are you going to the Missouri dog show next weekend? Sharon is so just wondered, maybe she could look for your time slot.

Well, time for my 3rd bath in 3 1/2 hrs. Anyone want to take a guess as to why?

Have to clean myself up because I need to be at Pharmacy at 1:35 for my 2nd booster.

Whatever I’ve been doing I’ve done wrong way, hand are numb…grrrr

Good luck with your training pat. I am sure what you did forget can be found on YouTube.
Betty, 3 baths?
Photos are from a quilt display at a church in town. 50 quilts on display.

How i would love to be there and see them Lindakay..beautiful
Did you put some in?

Yes 3 baths, pond is cleaned and ready for me to put the water feature in..big job done. Not sure I would have started it this morning but Marie had a free day and offered to help..a lot of the work is done outside the pond, she agreed with me, doesn’t know who would get in and do it so I had better keep well…
I did smell like I lived in the swamp so between that smell and the smoke from the fire pit i had to have 3.

Went to town and got my 2nd booster, shopping. Karen went to the garden centre to check The Kaija clematis but no luck so once I start buying my plants and hanging basket I will look for another that I can test…they had so many peonies, seems to me they only carried the tried and true plants that grow in this area..might need to go to Barrie and see what they have. i did buy a planter but have to put it out when the day is warming and bring it in late afternoon so not buying a lot til it’s time.

Did buy 2 boxes of solar mini lights, going to works the lights between the rocks of the pond, should look very pretty.

Sorry you have the winds Dianne, we do as well but not as much as the last few days..bought s strawberry/rhubarb pie, your fault if I pit on pounds lol
Also brought that lamp shade I had made for mom, only saw one break but when I went into Gayle’s to see if she could match it I noticed another area broken so hoping it won’t be too hard but going to try and take it apart and play at making a scrappy little window hanging with salvaged glass..if it’s too hard in the garbage that glass goes. Bought 30 bevels, think 8 light green..want to play at making 2 of same thin window hangings for Greg and Mel.

Very tired to start anything else today so a 4th hot bath is in order, will help take some of the aches and pains, pj’s then relax with pie and ice cream.

No, not going to St Louis. My boys need to mature, they're at the gangly stage. Too old for puppy classes now, but, not ready to compete with adults, either. Probably not showing until late summer, early fall. We'll be going to some local shows, just for the socializing, but that's about it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think local is more fun without the fretting at the drive
you who show your dogs congrats, it’s quite an commitment

Our beautiful Sammi, going to prom.

Thumbnail by siliolegma
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, we're you able to have your angel trumpets plants make it through the winter? Those will be beautiful in your garden.
I love your plants you have in the photos.
Karen, Sammi is so beautiful.
Yes, I have 6 quilts in the church.

Victoria Harbour, ON

No judging, just display?

My trumpet plants are big and beautiful..am sure they can’t go out in the ground for another month, was just saying i think the will bloom before then lol

Karen, Sammi is a beautiful young women, know you are proud of her.hope she has the best prom ever.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, what a fun idea to display the quilts, over the pews! Nicely done.

Betty, your new flowers are pretty,

Karen, what a sweet young lady, much more modest dress than a lot of the current trends. Good choice, and very pretty.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sammi wore this dress as a bridesmaid in her step-sister's wedding. She loved it then and was smart of her to get another wearing of it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, high of 58°f today and we’re suppose to have great weather til Tuesday but rain starts tomorrow til almost end of week.

Guess I will not put out lo the lawn sets cushions out, waste of time.

Just going to have coffee, some breakfast then go do 1 more wash of about 2’ of the pond then in I go to install water feature then I’d say I’ve about 90% , will soon be time to put my feet up and watch the flowers grow 💐

Karen, Sammi is very frugal to want to use it again, many young ladies would demand another dress.

Took down another 2 panel on back deck, will wash and seeing the wind is up i will find a place to drape them then put away til fall, sure doesn’t seem that long right?

Hope you all have a sunshine day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, all quilts are for display only.

Betty, Don know how you keep going, with all your pain. Any word on the specialist yet?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sammi works hard for her money and for the most part spends it wisely. A lesson her older brother needs to learn.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Karen, she should hold classes for kids her own age.

No news yet Lindakay, apparently there are only 2 within a 100 mile radius so it won’t be soon.

Right now i am in agony, making lunch pond is filling, I usually empty it again in a week and refill it in a month to make sure all that old sediment it gone..turned it on for one sec, asked myself if it is worth all this worth, pain and suffers ping..didn’t have to even think about it, yes yes yes it is worth it.

Filled myself with drugs, making on egg salad sandwiches then will have a nap, will set the alarm for 2 hours, takes longer to fill than that but want to keep an eye out.

Then It is yard hospital, lots of things not lighting up or need repair..the big heron needs his wing attached, that beautiful pair of frog gives on the bench with umbrella needs lighting, an adorable bike about 2 1/2 feet high needs a pot and a wheel repaired..sooo a nurse I will be

Was suppose to be beautiful for a few days but no go, rain starts tomorrow

What are you all up to?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sitting at home. Today.
My left hip started hurtabout a month ago, and to the point yesterday and today it's hard to walk. Need to call my orthopedic doctor and have him check it out.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is not good news Lindakay, I imagine it even hurts when you are sitting sewing as well which makes it difficult. When you were doing all those quilts do you think the standing started it? Hope you can get an appointment this week, does it mean you would have to go to San Francisco? How are your roses doing.

Do you have a tens machine, i am in bed and think I should get up and get Dr.Ho..think I will

Water feature sounds so nice but I am paying for it.

Lordy, mom isn’t well, aunt Muriel is there but it’s too much for mom as aunt Muriel talk without stopping, even in her sleep so not easy at best of times.

Aunt Muriel wants to come home, Brian could take her back tomorrow but apparently 2 weeks ago when she left with mom the complex started to do remo’s in washroom and until they finish she can’t go home.

I told mom to have aunt Muriel come here, drats, and that no way they can kick a 92 year old out of her apartment with nowhere to go and on Monday I would go and speak with them… then.mom and aunt Muriel were arguing so who knows what the 3nd result will be

My hip hurts all the time. Don't know what caused it. I do have a tens unit. It helps while in use but not all the time. Yes, orthopedic Dr is in San Antonio.
Sorry to hear about your mom and aunt Muriel.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, I am sorry to hear you are hurting so bad.

Betty, I think those 2 women DESERVE each other! (I think I am being naughty & judgmental, but your Mom certainly has been rotten to you & Sharon!)

Marie & I made a quick trip to Prosser and bought some of the fabric we needed to work on some quilts. Raining like crazy. They did NOT have the rest of the fabric I wanted to make the border & pillow cases for Dana & Carrie's guest room quilt. I had planned it as a large throw but she asked for quilt for the guest room bed. I will be adding more blocks and border to make it big enough. Carrie was so cute "I don't want to be GREEDY, but I really want a quilt for the guest room."

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, storm is a brewing but they say it won’t move in till noon..I’ve been up since 5 and got my regular chores done so i can put in a few hours of yard duty this morning.

Pat, sorry to hear you did not get all the supplies you wanted..i find I have to buy extra yardage because if I don’t it can never find it. Bet you are chomping at the bit to start loading and quilting..don’t know if I got an answer from you or I simply forgot, are your intentions to take in quilting for people?

I sure can feel your pain lindakay, no fun living up with it 24/7…each day is a challenge, last few weeks it’s been checks if my behind, always on left as the trouble is entirely on my left but we keep plugging don’t we.

Suzanne is suppose to drop in today for her quilt, hoping she likes it, and I also recovered a pillow for a man in town whom I do not know, no charge, if it’s not raining he will come over on his electric wheelchair to get it.

Am hoping Greg is not working all day and can come take the generator from top deck to under the closed in deck then rain or not I can clean the sunroom, front deck is done..had a lady drop in the other day, she used front door, said it must be lovely when sun is shining thru the 2 stained glass windows, i should make a point to sit out there and enjoy

Wel it’s coffee time, getting tools out to take a stained glass lamp apart so I can repurpose the pieces

Enjoy your day

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone.
Supposed to have light showers most of this week. Sure would be nice, but most of the storms split and go around us. All we get is the humidity.
I have learned to buy more fabric than I need as well. I don't like buying a quilt kit, because if you make a mistake, you will never find the fabric you need.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Rain through the night and this morning. Hoping it will be nicer later. SPRING!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Same here Lindakay, not one to buy kits yet the Winter Solstice and penguin quilts were quilts and I had plenty of fabric left. because a lack of rain do you have to water gardens often? Are you on municipal water or your own well?

Karen seems we are having an unusually cold and wet spring, same for you?

Suzanne was here picking up her quilt, the wind is so strong, we could hear a bang, she yelled, my stained glass window that is so heavy unhooked and thank goodness the one hook held it..we rushed and got it down then took the 2nd one down..trees are just swaying from side to side, cold and rain hasn’t started yet.

Mom called just as Suzanne called, mom asked me to call her back once Suzanne left, she was here 2 hours so just called mom back.

Her question to me was will Intake her dog Bella like I said I would when she dies. She is writing down a few things..i said of course but you are not going anywhere, she says ‘just know I know I am dying and I want $$ put away for her care, vet bills, grooming, food etc.’ big sigh

I will forgo my Mother’s Day “to do” work list with Greg and go spend the day with mom Sunday.

Jeff will be in Aruba, leaving 5am Mother’s Day so won’t hurt to postpone so both Greg and Jeff can get together to do it.

Lordy that wind is stronger, must go see iffy water feature is still standing

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Just checking in on a lazy Sunday afternoon. My sister is coming Wednesday for a week from Ventura. I still have guest bedroom totally tore up with everything from the closet on the bed. Closet has built in drawers and many treasures found. I will tackle it tomorrow.

Did some investigating on Vern's son's condo. SiL, who is an attorney and has connections in great places, checked with the city and no building permit have even been submitted. New HOA management started April 1st. Checked with insurance company who has the HOA insurance and there is no problem there, so it is just mismanagement. So he will probably be here another 6 months. It was 6 months the 26th of April.

Tenant is leaving the home GD and her husband will be living in when they move back to Las Vegas. He has finished his residency and has accepted a job with a hospital group here. Full turn. This is the first house her parents bought right after she was born. I bought it from them when they bought a larger home. Holding my breath that th place is not destroyed. Because of Covid, no inspections were made.

Betty you are just a blessed angel. Pain just wears you down and then the emotional upheaval with your mother, you have your plate full. I saw you weather when I was checking ours.

Linda, our rain is the same. It heads this way and then goes on the other side of the mountains and Arizona and Utah get it. So sorry about your hip pain. Are they thinking about doing surgery? All three of my cousins have had hip surgery and says they are sorry they waited so long.

Hugs to all of you.

Karen, you need to send hubby this way. My front door needs to be sanded and re-stained at the bottom.

Susan, how are you feeling?

Pat you need to show us your big bad machine. How is it going with your room mates.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sharon, lazy afternoon for you?? Me thinks not lol
You are always so busy.

Will be nice for you to have your sister with you.. do you generally just take it easy at your place or do you go out?

That is disgraceful Re your stepson’s condo, hard to believe something like that could happen.. seems nobody cares about what happens to people who pay insurances when such things occur. How wonderful you are able to provide accommodations for your granddaughter and her husband and the tenants have kept it up..is that athingdoingtenantcheckups on the rental? Don’t think you are allowed to do that here, maybe i am wrong.

Brian just dropped aunt Muriel off at her apartment, yep, no tub, no washroom, she can’t stay there so Sharon’s daughter Nikki is bringing her to her daughters…they will have to deal with it. Still mind boggling doing that to a a 92 year old.

Yes the wind is terrible right now, blew the rain away so far..maybe it will send it to Lindakay.

Spent this afternoon taking that broken lamp apart, now to see I’d I can make a window ganging with it.

I don't have gardens left to water. Everything died last year. I have been window shopping but plant prices are outrageous. We are on city water.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear you lost all your gardens Lindakay, i am with you, prices are outrageous and even if one could afford to buy garden centres have limited supplies no knowing what this season would bring re finances.i might buy a few perennials but not much more, might do more transporting.

unlimited use of water here but i pay $370 every 3 months for water and sewer and apparently going up.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sharon, the condo HOA is ripe for a huge class action suit, and it sounds like they DESERVE it. Don't we all wish we could borrow Walt LOL!!!

Betty, I am happy to hear that you rescued your stained glass in time to avoid the 2nd hook failing.

Linda, I am sorry you are having to endure so much pain.

I am waiting for my son to get his first full month payroll check and then will discuss having them plan on moving out by end of August. I pray I can bite my tongue that long.

Marie & I have no intentions of taking on anyone else's quilt. I probably will do the quilting for my SI Sharon, she occasionally makes a baby quilt. She & I have worked on many projects together & she is always very good to me.

Yes Betty, when a management team is handling the rental there should be an inspection, compare against the move-in inspection so renter can be charged for any damage beyond normal wear & tear. My son Dana has been so blessed with the renters he has! They have put up a fence, & planted grass etc, all at their own expense because they wanted it. Dana has allowed them to have 2 BIG dogs that most renters would never be allowed to have. Until the dishwasher went out, the renter has been taking care of any issues they might have!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do you think Pat they are as anxious to move as you want them to move?
As for quilting for others, don’t like the responsibility of working with someone else’s work, know the hours that goes into a top.
Dana has been blessed with good tenants, not always the way it is.

Am sure Walt wants to visit Canada 1st girls..

Sandman doesn’t know my address

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yeah, you have inside track with Walt I am sure! Haven't Walt and Karen visited you? Or am I mixing them up with another couple?

In some ways I am sure Andrea is VERY anxious to move. She is extremely private person & also resents my "involvement" in her life in any way. She avoids interacting with me due her anxiety levels & social anxiety stuff. Anything she wants to "say" she sends thru Adam, it is a very dysfunctional way to live a life.

We had a studio apartment/ duplex living situation when we lived in Othello. We had some GREAT tenants and we had some REALLY BAD ones,. The good ones were truly blessings. I remember when Dave had his wife & girls at the studio (he lived in the studio during the week while working in Othello & went home to his family during the weekend normally). He was working 6 days a week for a while, so they were coming to him. I told him to USE my backyard and enjoy it. He declined my offer but his wife was smart enough to override that!! A beautiful safe, fenced yard, why not?? Well I came home from work to a water fight with squirt guns in the back yard. Dave said " I am sorry, are we making too much noise??" I laughed and said "No, you are just TOO DRY" and proceeded to turn my hose on him!! NEVER let it be said I fight fair!!! My favorite motto is "Old age and treachery will win over youth and skill".

I finished the sewing machine cover for Marie's Bday.

Thumbnail by psychw2
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I love that cover.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I think she will like it, that makes a Loralie cover for all 3 machines now, DONE!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat, I met up with Betty & Linda and a few others in Frankenmuth, MI a few years back. I've never been to Betty's house though. I think you are thinking of Barb Jenkins.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Dianne, you said this awhile ago but I think I must have missed something - a pancake fire? huh?
Physically I'm feeling fine. Mentally, I'm grumpy. I'm a senior & I love my senior friends here, but sometimes.......... Here's an example of what drives me crazy "no point cleaning the rugs, people coming in on the May Long Weekend Yard Sale Day will just get them dirty". ummm is this like a kid telling their parent "no point making the bed, I'll just un-make it when I go to bed tonight". oh, and "no point sprucing up the place, we don't get many rentals anyway". HUH? If we updated it, maybe we would get rentals of our hall. After all, the last thing done was to put vertical blinds in, 12 years ago! I'm not talking about spending $$, because our hardware store would donated stuff to paint, or refinish the counters, or such. It would take grunt work, and as I've refinishe my own counters, I could do it. And paint? why paint? I know, whilte panelling isn't bad, but well......... it's dated.
I have a vision for the Senior Centre and they think I'm over-doing it and no one even (except for my friend Dianne) wants to dig in and give it a good old fashioned Spring Cleaning. Ah well, Dianne & I are doing it in bits & pieces. If about 5 or 6 would do it, it would be done in one day. Oh, and btw - we're having an Open House on June 12th. I really want the carpets cleaner then........ Let's get rid of the dead bugs all over too, while we're at it lmao Yeah, the place is not up to drawing in new members, the way it is. LOL I want to put in a battrey operated switch light in the coat closet & was told I'd have to take it to the membership. REALLY? There's no light in there now, and while not dark, it's dim.
Yeah, I'm grumpy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, dull day and rain on its way..

Yesterday spent a lot of time i basement, did 3 aprons with Sharon’s Eskimo logo, wanted them for Missouri trip/dog show..she left at 6am this morning, long drive fir a dog show..am sure Deb you know about all those long trips to get points for your furries.

Girls will be here in ten minutes, i should have eaten breakfast, heads a little woozy for not eating.

Yes, so enjoyed meeting Karen in Frankenmuth, we even got to go to a fabric shop, always enjoy meeting DG friends

Liz, any update on Judy

Susan, it will be a long fight trying to get those seniors accepting change.lid any one can do it, it will be you.

Pat you have patience to have completed all those pieces…nice finishing a UFO that has been sitting there..felt so good when Suzanne picked up that blue/white blanket.
I can now work on smaller things which will not hurt my shoulders as much.

Just heard a car door close..will get back this afternoon

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I hope you found something to eat while you have company! Not good having your blood sugar drop low and get woozy~
