Yep, you never know! Could be a wonderful opportunity for all of you.
I have been procrastinating forever it seems on getting the last little bit done on these quilts, RIDICULOUS! I have decided NO reading until more of these are done.
I have manicotti in the oven. I will keep a couple of serving out, freeze the rest in serving sizes when I am done. I will save out a serving for Adam, it's one of his favorite foods.
My grandson Aiden, decided he was done getting tutored, didn't want to be "nagged at" about coming over on time & has quit entirely. I let my son & DIL know, it was a HUGE blow up & Aiden has not turned in homework since. It's been 2 weeks; he is flunking EVERY class but 1 now. I am seriously upset with son & wife, whatever happened to PARENTING???
After Adam's first paycheck, I will be sitting down with them and giving them a timeline to move out (probably end of July, after Andrea's quarter ends). . I had hoped that I could give them the time needed to allow them to move directly out of my house into a house they could buy, but that just doesn't look feasible. Some of their behaviors (and LACK of parenting) are just not good for my mental health.
Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Come sit & chat..newcomers always welcome!
She did not call so that is that, won’t make offer of the room again.. more I think of it more I like keeping things as is, everything in its place..set in my ways.
So sorry to here Aiden is no longer let you tutor him and now failing..
You were giving him such a chance in life, one day he’ll realize it.
You have done very well Pat with having Adam and his family living with you that can’t be easy and you are being very generous to give them up to June or July to find accommodations. Sometimes the more we try and help the more we are setting them back, flying being a parent I guess.
That is why I cannot read, I get caught up in a book and I do nothing else
When you know the wind died down and I went outside for a few minutes and it was so nice, now that the days over the wind settles.
Was wondering why it felt hot while I laid on the couch, got up to come to bed and noticed that I had put the thermostat at 76, I really must have been chilled after working outside on Thursday.
Diane perhaps you could give me your thoughts on what I was thinking of doing, that spare room where mom sleeps and has been redone and a nice stain glass lamp shade I just sent on a corner cabinet and thought maybe seeing it’s in pink maroon shades wallpaper and decor that maybe rather than trying to find glass for repairing the lampshade she gave me maybe I could take it apart and make a nice window hanging, which do you think would be easier?
Suzanne’s quilt should’ve been finished but I got lazy! Tomorrow is the start of a new week so I can work on it again without feeling it Hass to be done just because I’m enjoying it.
What did y’all get up to today?
I have been working on my pink zebra one block wonder. Almost done. Lots of sewing then pressing seams open... glad when it's done.
BETTY!! I know you're one hot chick, but fire that close to you is NOT recommended!
Guess what? I have a head cold! (yeah, a head cold, not covid!) Covid's been the cure for everything else on this earth though. You don't hear about all the other diseases as much anymore, it's all "covid-related" stuff lol Of course now I'm a pariah and no one wants to come near me (they don't dare, I might have cooties!). Hey speaking of which, remember when boys didn't want to go near girls cuz "ewwww they have cooties!" I guess Covid is the new Cooties lmao
This message was edited Apr 25, 2022 8:38 PM
Betty, and Susan, hope you are both feeling better soon.
Yeah Susan, you got COOTIES!!! Keep those Germmies to yourself! Head cold or not! LOL
Speaking of cooties, I found a dead flea on Stanley. I use Frontline every month but was "late" this time.
Pat so sad to say but it looks like Aiden will have a hard lesson when he has to repeat the grade. Sometimes there is only so much you can do to help. If it's not accepted or wanted...well you just have to say OH Well.
It's very difficult to share a house. We probably do it better because we have so much experience with it. There are times we just have to get in the car and go for a drive. Good thing there is so much nice scenery here.
Thank goodness we do not have fleas. I have been busy bot not today. I try to make Sunday a day of rest. Tomorrow and Tuesday I will hit the garden big time.
I need to remove the plastic surrounding my tomato plants. I hve moved the plastic down on the cage but we are headed to higher 80s and low 90s, so the time is to let them blow i the wind. We had to hugh wind storms last week. None projected for a while, so I will just let them grow without protection.
I have voluntary strawberries in my front landscape that seeded themselves from my compost. I saw today when I was walking by, while walking Emma, that there was a big ripe one . I will go out tomorrow and have a snack. I have one closer to the house and it has given me about 6 very sweet berries. I purchase Dricoll (sp) so the plants should have nice genes.
My son and his wife have had Covid again. They live in Spokane. This is their 3rdtime and they are fully vaccinated. He said it was like a light flu with a cough.
Pat, I am so sorry for your family that is livig with you. But him driving a truck for such a short time, they will not use his income until he has been on the job for at east a year unless they have a substantial down payment. I feel sorry for the child but you have done all you can do. He will regret it later in life but you cannot tell them. I have an acquaintance of a friend whose child, girl, 13 years and is now refusing to go to school. They have checked, nothing wrong at school, she just thinks she doesn't need any more schooling.
Betty, close call o the room mat. I had several individuals ask, but I am so set in my ways of when I get up, temperature of the house and on and on that I would be miserable. I still have my step-son living with me. My SIL is calling the management company to find out the holdup on the tear down and new construction.
Susan, cold is probably brought on by stress. But I do understand how people react. I sneezed the other day and I saw how everyone around looked at me.
I have ordered a new cord for my phone because I cannot get my phone to sync with my computer. I have some outstanding photos to share but phone is not talking to my computer.
Hugs to you all. Time for Emma and I to go to bed.
Rain, rain go away..
i would so love to help you eat Sharon this strawberries..mouth just watering.
Must be over a 1/2 year your stepson has been with you..terrible, how about any others that had to be displaced during construction.
How true, you don’t dare cough in public, you can see the terror on their faces..hope you are feeling better today Susan. Sharon does Covid get worse each time they get it or easier.
As for the 13 year old child, do they not still have to be in school until 16?
Went to town at 7am to exchange the deck cleaner, then went and did groceries, had to replace items i put in trash last week that had expired..by the time I got home it was nap time.
Sharon called me, mom called her, she believes she has pancreatic cancer (fortune teller told her she thought something was wrong with her lunch and something more severe..making lists, after she was so horrible to Sharon asked if she will look after her in her final days, upset that I don’t want her China cabinet, I have no where to put it, she had Sharon promise that she would keep it. Aunt Muriel she said is driving her crazy, she would have come home tomorrow with Brian but when the housing found out she would be gone for awhile they decided to redo her washroom so with mom she will have to stay another week or so.
spoke with Kyle, Mel’s aunt who owned the land in Meaford where they would all go camping every year passed away 2 weeks ago and nobody found her til Saturday. sad..
Sharon called, my mom told her she BELIEVES she has pancreatic cancer, no doctor, no test, but the fortune teller made reference to something similar on her last visit..last few days she was here she said she had to go home, get expats etc because she feels that is what she has.
Sharon is her best friend now, asked Sharon if she would look after her in her final days like Sharon did with SF Jim.. upset with me because she said I had told her I would take her teak cupboard when she died..few days before she left she mentioned it, told her I have no room fir it.
made Sharon promise not to get rid of…making final notes Re her will etc etc etc.
Wish she would get tests done before saying she has cancer.
Oops lunch is boiling over
Someone needs to ask her to show her the test results on paper.
Grayson is so cute. He is growing fast.
Nowhere Lindakay does she have results, hasn’t gone for tests yet, scan is in May..she believes this lady who came to her house, $300 later she believes due to a comment she knows she has pancreatic cancer.. hope I am wrong and she doesn’t have it.
Yes, hard to believe how fast he is growing, be glad when we are free to visit when we want but til there is nobody in family who is fighting Covid won’t happen.
Shame on that person for telling her such news. Taking advantage of an elder person.
Awe. I love those photos.
I tested myself last night, and do have Covid. Ah well, I'm feeling better every day. When I go out on Saturday with my friend Dianne, I will wear my NK49 mask.
I got a phone call from Victim Services and Bob's next court date is May 30th. I hope he gets a lawyer because otherwise the court will assign one. Then it's time for the new lawyer to become familiar with the case. I hope this doesn't eat all my summer with stress & worry......... I just want it Done with.
Susan, sorry to hear you have covid. Praying for a speedy recovery.
Here in the U.S. if we have covid, we are not allowed to leave our home for 10 days I think it is. We can be heavily fined if we are out doing anything in public. They just need to make sure we don't keep spreading it.
Betty, too funny that your Aunt is driving your Mom crazy and wants to send her back and can't because of the remodeling. Poetic justice! What you & Sharon go thru with your Mom is crazy!! Grayson's "best friend" is HUGE!!!
Susan, here's hoping that the trial stuff can be OVER with this time! I am sorry it is dragging on, it's a huge stress for you. Will he be taking the motorhome? I know you said you can been putting all his boxed up stuff in there.
Today's the day the installation starts on the longarm!!! YEAH! The room is as emptied as we planned. I am little concerned about how they are going to get that unit into the house & into the room but THAT is their worry & job, not mine! LOL
It will be brought in, in boxes, and assembled in her room.
What size frame did she get? Brand of machine?. You two must be so excited to get it up and running.
Betty I had to chuckle when I opened my weather on my i phone this morning. I have all the cities the children and grandchildren are located in and your area. Your area was snowing. We are going to be in the hugh 80s today. I am going to do some more gardening but thought I would get on here first. At night I am to tired.
Vern's son is still here. Work on condo project is at a standstill. I am beginning to think there in a money problem. They just changed management companies. I will work today to get some answers. I have a call into our HOA management company, which I have a good relationship with, to pick their brain.
I got my tomatoes uncovered yesterday. My new phone still will not communicate with my lap top. I have ordered a new cord because Google told me that was probably the problem. So that is why you are not getting any photos.
Betty, Todd said this last Covid was like a light flu with a cough. His wife got it about 3 days later and she said the same thing.
The 13 year old is back in school. Her grandmother pays for her cell phone and she shut it off. That got her attention. It's a long story and this child's surroundings are a mess. No father. Thank God for her grandmother.
Betty thank goodness you and Sharon have each other. Your great grandchild is adorable and I am with Pat, that is a very large plaything. They grow up so fast.
My second great grandchild is also going to be blue eyed. His sister is also blue eyed. myself and my daughter are both blue eyed. Babies mother and father are hazel eyes.
Pat, when you get that long arm installed you will need to post a photo. I will look up and see what a long arm does. I can tell you are excited.
Linda, you guys have been making the news. What the federal government is doing about illegal border crossings is such a questionable act. I cannot determine why it is being allowed. There are so many things going on in the world that i question why it is being allowed.
My two vegetable plots are putting out some great turnip plants and I actually have a few radishes that look like radishes. I also have a slew of many different varieties of lettuce and micro greens. Now I just need to find someone else besides myself to et them. I was at Whole Foods last week and they had some fantastic looking radishes. Radishes are one of my favorite. I picked up a bunch and looked at the price. They were .50 a piece. I immediately put them back. One of my favorites is a radish and sweet onion sandwich.
Karen, I am so pleased you are feeling better.
Time to go do some gardening. Have a wonderful evening.
Sharon, our border laws are a mess. We have laws, but our president will not allow border patrol to enforce them. He wants open borders, at no cost. Just today, they arrested a young man, a known major drug cartel gang member. They have arrested multiple know sex offenders, murderers... not to mention the major drug bust of opioid and fentanyl.

Marie got a an Pro lite stitch computer, Regalia quilter 20 inch throat on a 10 foot Kinetic frame. I'll take pictures Thursday. Our installer/trainer is not available Wednesday so we will be watching training videos to be prepared for Thursday.
My grandson had his phone taken away MONTHS ago. Frankly, I am clueless how to motivate him and that is NOT my job although I don't see his parents even trying.
Sharon, a long arm is what is used to put the quilting/stitching on the quilt. It sews thru the top & bottom fabric (with batting between them). This one has been purchased with a computer Pro Stitcher https://prostitcher.com/ so it can be programmed with a pattern rather than having to manual guide it. https://babylock.com/machines/long-arm-quilting/regalia
Sounds like am amazing system. Enjoy.
The tied denim quilt that our church ladies worked on and donated to our local teen shelter. It is 60 x 66, and it was done on a table, NOT a frame. I wanted to demonstrate that it is possible to make a simple jean quilt without any fancy frames, it was "basted with safety pins" on a banquet table and laid over 2 tables for us to tie.
Rather than sew a label on, I wrote DIRECTLY on the block. Since it is going to the shelter, I did not want it possible to pick the label OFF. That does not mean that it might not still "find legs" but it at least remains labeled as belonging to the shelter.
Can't believe that I slept until 11 am this morning! Guess I needed the sleep. Going to ty for it again tomorrow morning. I want to be feeling great for Saturday when I got with Dianne to the garden centre. Right now I'm feeling pretty darned good.
WOW!! 11 AM is amazing!!! But then again, you have been short sleep due to anxiety for a while.
Good morning everyone. It looks like another November day here. This cold weather just doesn't want to leave us.
Karen the door is beautiful as is your whole entry way. To me it is saying "come on in for a cup of tea"
Betty did you get your taxes done ? Mine is off to the accountant.
My internet connection is terrible this last couple of weeks. Apparently Bell is working in the area.
Good for you Susan for getting some much needed sleep. Your body was telling you to take care of it.
Yes Betty the pie was from Foodland. The crust is nothing to write home about but the filling is delicious.
Stay safe and well.
Morning, sunshine day, high I’d 30f but 51 tomorrow..will take the sunshine even though cold as yesterday it snowed a tad.
Karen, Walt is certainly a handyman..very welcoming. what other project will he take on now that great weather is here?
Dianne, was in Foodland looking for that pie $9.99, couldn’t seem to pay that much but am sure one i get the supplies together it would cost me more. When i do this weeks groceries i will pick one up and do as you, cut in slices and put the wrapped pieces in the refrigerator. Your weather is much the same, winter just doesn’t want to leave.TH must be thrilled today that they can get out..is it still muddy?
Molson’s arena in Barrie are having a big spring craft show this weekend, just not sure I want to get with thousands yet. maybe a trip to outside of Barrie at the Garden Gallery, best with 100 miles. Yes to the taxes, know I will owe, if by chance I don’t I will get a nice new window put in.
Great news Susan, likely you were run down and your body is telling you some rest is needed.
Pat, think I would not sleep knowing I’d be getting this long arm. The quilts are precious, what a difference it will make to those teens.
Sharon, did you have a BLT this morning for breakfast, soon you won’t be able to eat them all. If the weather can ever improve I will work on the side garden shed and work bit of land and plant 2-3 tomato plants.I can make radish sandwiches for a meal.
Listened to a talk show Sharon, they were saying depending on which Covid variant one has is how sick they are.
My goodness have some to tell you nap but I cannot keep my eyes open.be back in a bit
that is sad news that the building projects are not yet done. i hope that your friend at the HOA can give you options, routes to follow that you haven’t already thought of.
Beautiful quilt Pat. Well done.
Susan, glad you got a good night's sleep. Sounds like you needed it. If possible, do another self covid test, make sure you are not contagious.
Amazing how much everything is going up in price. Gas here was going down, but it rose back up to $3.64 yesterday.
Karen, that entry is BEAUTIFUL!!! Such a pretty job of staining and treating (varnish?). My metal door needs repainting but as long as I have Adam & fam here it is a lost cause. I will have so much repair work to be done. They & the dogs have been REALLY hard on my woodwork, baseboard, floors etc.
$3.64 would be considered a steal here!! Thanks Linda, Marie thought the flannel was ugly but it made a cute backing for a quilt. I don't know where Marie got all the flannel, likely she bought it dirt cheap when it was donated to thrift store. We have LOTS of several pieces, some are really pretty. Now that I think of it, I have an adorable pirate one in storage!
I am very nervous about the training today. I was supposed to view 2 videos but the sound on my computer would not cooperate to get loud enough. I tried to 2 different speaker sets to see if I could get them turned up, still not loud enough, even with my hearing aids as high as possible. I got a new thought late, maybe view it on my phone since I can REALLY control the volume with that when I engage the bluetooth to my hearing aids.... then I remembered I would never be able to SEE the information adequately on my little phone screen.
Guess I will be asking for help getting my laptop linked to my TV so I can SEE and HEAR the tutorials. That will be the first time my TV has been used in about 3 years or more (not since Kevin moved away)!!! I never watched TV in the sewing room. I used to watch TV with Ben in the living room, but I have not had a TV on for me since he died, more than 2 years ago.
Betty, Walt is a putzer. Most of what he does gets little attention but he's the one keeps this place running smoothly.
I don't think that door had ever been sanded before. That seems to be the norm here. I think the thinking was because it's a log house it could be left rough. Last year and the year before Walt worked at rebuilding the decks that go around three sides of the house. It was a job sorely needed to be done. He's 83 I just don't know where he gets the stamina.
pat, you might find it more difficult as you won’t be sure about the technical terminology but as long as one of you are up on it you can teat each other, learnt together.
i could not live without a tv in my bedroom
Drats I was angry yesterday afternoon , Marie and Ted had raked not only the yard but that ditch in front that gives me all the problem with flooding, have been doing so since meltdown.. the township water department came to check on all of the fire hydrants, start in from the top of the road all the way to my yard, when flushed it’s like Niagara Falls coming out of them, same amount of water used at a fire..well, all that water, mud, debris, garbage ended up in my ditch..can’t even see the grid. Called township yesterday, have them a piece of my mind, called today and did same, other man I spoke to is the son of a good friend that has passed on many years now, he said someone would come today…we will see
Then yesterday spend good part of the day, my mom is sure she has pancreatic cancer..no tests yet but she knows she is..from being able to ripen circles around me, to a visit with a psychic and now she is on her deathbed.. big sigh
Sometimes Karen the Putzer gets a lot more done, just a tad longer..guess previous owners liked the rustic look, likely that would be me..am sure they are a lot to maintain..I’d like the use a paint do sorts that looks like white wash but not if it’s something I’d have to continue doing.
Forgot if I showed you photo’s of Suzanne’s quilt
Good news, Township workers just came and cleaned ditch.
Betty - no wonder you were angry. After all that work Marie & Ted did, the township had to mess it up!! Hope that as of this writing that they've come to clean up their mess. Suzanne's quilt looks beautiful! Such lovely stitching too! One of these years I'll do one with the all-over stitching like that.
I could never have a tv in my bedroom. Have one in the den that I never use because I use the computer monitor OR, at the end of the day when I'm winding down to go to sleep, I go into the living room to read or watch Netflix on the big screen.
I'm feeling much better today. I'll test again on Friday to make sure. In the meantime, it's good to feel back to normal. I got some good news from the Treasurer of Silver Willow. We got the grant for a new Bunn coffeemaker, and until we have the grant in our wee paws, the coffee company will bring us a loaner on Monday, with coffee, filters, and cups. With the balance of the matching grant, I'm proposing to the Board that we get a carpet steamer/shampooer because it needs more than just vaccuuming.
Good news all around.
Betty, I am so glad you called and gave them a piece of your mind. Glad to hear they came and cleaned it up.
Beautiful quilt. I love blue quilts.
Susan, glad to hear you are feeling better.
Great news Susan, now if you can keep from being negative you are out of the woods. Congrats on the Bunn Coffeemaker, now to get the steamer for the rugs.. I have one, no rugs except scatter rugs but i will not get rid of it, almost think i might have bought it at Walmart.
Lindakay I’ve done that floral design and you would almost think I used a pantogram I’ve done it so often
Got a call back from Drs. office about next appt. I called and asked if they could use the info from blood draw earlier this week as I just wasn't up to the stress of going through it again so soon. YES!! they said it will be fine. I'm so relieved.
More that is blooming now. Azalea, Bleeding Hearts, Clematis.
This message was edited Apr 28, 2022 5:15 PM
Great news Karen..
all beautiful, for the life of me I cannot grow clematis…might grow 3’ a few flowers and that is it.
It quite a few years old, wonder if I could move it..in shade quite a bit… same with bleeding heart, had been given a plant from neighbours but it is no longer
Beautiful blooms Karen.
Great news on the blood draw too.
