Betty, our governor is trying to show our president just how bad it is down here on the birder. Biden wants an open border for anyone to come in. We have thousands coming over now, when he drops the article 42, we will not be allowed to stop anyone. We have caught so many ISIS members already, drug cartels, murderers, known gang members, you name it. Those that come across are supposed to be processed to see if the have a legitimate excuse to ask to be here, those that don't qualify are supposed to be turned around and sent back. Those that sneak across are the bad ones, drug runners... some they catch, some they don't. Those that are allowed, are told to go to thier destination and have 60 days to report themselves to the judge for a hearing. 90% of them are never seen again. They are giving them free housing, medical schooling. All on the American tax payers. Our town has had so many houses broken into, car thefts. Our stores are so bare, we can never find what we need. A lot has to be ordered online.
Abbott is trying to prove how bad it is.

Liz, thanks for the information on Judy. Will keep her in our prayers.

Little man is growing so fast. What a cutie.

Linda it's so discouraging reading what is happening at the border. I'm so sorry you are having to deal with it. Awful to not feel safe in your own home. So nice to have a president who has his head up his Arse.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I will keep Judy in my prayers.
The border issue is insane. I am so sorry you have to live with that daily Linda.
Betty, I hope you can catch your little rascal!! Fortunately, Stanley has never made it hard for me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Prayers for Judy and big arm wraps as she would say.

Lordy Lindakay, how terrible, at least your Governor is trying something.

Watching CNN Re war in Ukraine, my goodness it was said never gain after Hitler BUT here we are letting it happen again, big sigh.

One minute it looks like the sky will open and a downpour will happen, the the sun comes out. Dianne, are you getting these extreme winds?

i forgot a few things in town yesterday so will take a ride in and pick them up, need to wait until 11:30a, as a mom is bringing her daughter so i can see how interested she really is about sewing..like Lindakay looks as though I could make a part time job about this.

How are you feeling Deb?

Sharon, starting to worry, are you ok?

Are any of you having Easter??

Verona, ON

Same weather here Betty. It is sunny but cold - I might even start a fire. The wind is howling around the house. Tomorrow I am sure I will have fall to pick up.

Sending positive thoughts for Judy.

For some reason I am very weary. I cleaned and dusted this morning. Kai has not seen a piece of paper or a box that he doesn't want to rip up.

We've walked but I had to come back for a coat as my hoodie wasn't enough. The TH just zoomed around. For every step I took Chaos took 20 and Kai took 50. I just let Kai tired himself out with his zoomies.

Betty will the stores be open today ? Everything around here is closed. My pharmacy called me yesterday as I was due for a refill of 1 med Sat. and he wanted me to know they would be closed for 4 days. They really deserve some time off as they are open 6 days a week with the same druggist and tech. I really appreciated the call.

Oh LK I would never be able to sleep with all you have going on. I am so sorry you have to live under those conditions.

No Easter plans here. I remember my mother's family getting together for any holiday. Lots of turkey and ham being offered.

How's Mel feeling Betty ?

Think this will be an early night.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

church &. then Easter lunch at my sister's. Once I know who else is going/ or not going, I will know more about what I am supposed to bring! My brother Mark & his wife ALWAYS bring a pretzel salad to family functions. If they are NOT going, then it falls to me. A few other things like that... I know I am bringing deviled eggs & Rice Krispy treats. Whether I have pretzel salad and a cherry dessert is yet to be seen.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We won't be doing anything for Easter. It will be nice and quiet here. A ham sounds good. I might go see what the stores have.
You all enjoy your family time together.

So sad what is going on in Ukraine. Sad it took biden so long to finally allow needed weapons to be sent in. So many families displaced or killed.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

choir practice, church, then Easter dinner with 3 friends, here.
Prior to that......... DEEP HOUSECLEANING! Yeah, I know, they come to see me, not my house.

Susan, enjoy your Easter with your friends.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, it’s a cool one, 28f and calling for snow later in the day, here is hoping you have much higher temps.

Being quiet, mom got here yesterday afternoon, drive tired her out, said she stopped 4 times as she was feeling tired so she is still in bed.

I have the kids (5) coming at 9 to do jewelry for their moms, the designing and firing, next week they can glue the metal backings to the pendant s and earrings…
Ziggy has been out twice and I set out what we need for the class and am having coffee watching a good movie.

Have to tell you, Sharon dropped off the turkey for tomorrow, mom had been here 1/2 hr..Sharon dropped the turkey said she had to go, mom said she had things to get in the car sooo neither spoke..will be a lovely Easter dinner. i am cooking turkey, ham, meat pie, make a few pies this afternoon and Jeff didn’t say he is coming, I’ll deliver dinner to Greg and Mel’s so might just be me, mom and Sharon, that should be fun.

I have been watching Ukraine war much of the time, i keep thinking manpower is needed. I think regardless who is President and military chiefs if they got involved it would be said they started world war 3 and if they move cautiously they are too slow..May the Heavens look after these poor people.

Susan, have to smile at your comment, they come to see me not my house..go get a couple of ‘hope you are feeling better/ sorry you are ill’ and scatter them around, people will understand, when you are ill your house is not as it should be.😛

Lindakay, ham and scalloped potatoes sounds yummy..drats, just remember I didn’t buy pineapple for my ham.

Pat I do not remember ever having pretzel salad, what does it consist of? I am for rice krispy squares.. you know there aren’t a lot of cereals on the store shelves, certainly no rice krispy’s, must buy ore made ones,,,they are my favourites.

Dianne, wind was beyond terrible yesterday, have to pick up tree limbs again, same as your weather. Was in town yesterday, food stores and $$ stores were open but Walmart was closed, seemed odd. Thanks for asking about Mel, she wasn’t very well yesterday. With having lost friends to Covid I fret, keep messaging her, how are you feeling, need anything etc. Must be annoying her.

Once kids leave around 11 I will start with pies then get pies made and then cook turkey..mom wants to go to Midland today so I might even fit 8n a nap

Gab later

Bitter cold outside. It was 28* on the lake side deck. So Betty we had your weather - lots of rain with gusts of wind. As far as I can see from my short walk this morning there isn't much down but I am sure there will be some in other areas. The TH stuck close to me in the house as it was really noisy.

Every time we have a strong wind I remember I need a tree cut down on the lake side. I don't know how it stayed up yesterday. I'll have a look and see if I can take it down myself. Note to self remember to charge my chainsaw.

Cooked a pork loin roast yesterday. I am not much of a pork eater but this one was excellent. I'll slice it up and but some in the freezer.

LK ham and scalloped potatoes sounds delicious. I haven't made scalloped potatoes in years. Warren loved having them no matter what meat we had for dinner.

Oh my Betty I'll be thinking about you. Unless we had the festive meal at her place she was in a snit and made everyone miserable. One year I had Thanksgiving and she disappeared and was gone for over an hour. The meal was ready and no mom. My dad said go ahead and start so we did. Boy did I get some looks from my mom. I swear our moms were sisters from another mother.

Pretzel salad ? I've never heard of it.

Anyone heard from Judy? Liz?

Stay safe. I think I am going to break down and either flip the oil on or start up a fire.

Morning all,
Last minute the cancelled judys surgery till tuesday.

Wishing you all a happy easter

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update on Judy.

Betty, keep an eye on your mom fever, scratchy throat. Those seem to be early symptoms of covid. Some don't come down with it once exposed for 14 days or more.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Liz thanks for the update, although disappointing I am sure that Judy is pleased to be home with the grands for Easter. Are you having Easter with your Mom? Know Covid numbers were super high in your region, are they any better? You were going to sew,did you? Lol

Kids are gone, i was able to give them a sneak preview of their earrings and pendant..they were so excited, likely by tonight The kiln should be cool enough to take the lid off.

Mom is gone to Midland, she looks so very tired she should really have gone to nap.. oh well, gave me the opportunity to make a couple of pies and vacuum throughout the upstairs, floors can do with a washing but I will wait until Tuesday when she leaves.

Dianne, hugs, mom is the sweetest thing but just to her kids and if your mom is the same my heart goes out to you. Turn up the heat and get a good book and enjoy..you had a wall hanging or floor mat to do, are you working on it? Might be a good time to get into a project seeing our weather is so crappy. So glad I picked up all those piles of raked leaves the other day or I’d be raking them all over again.

Lindakay, it’s something mom has had for years, Sharon has same.
I have my list of names of who i have been in contact with, must keep track for 14 days. Could have had my 4th shot, booster #2 but can’t because I was stateside. Everyone we know has someone with Covid, no not dying like before but bad. One of the mother’s of a young girl here today said she has had it 3 times and was no fun at all.

Going to message Sharon to see if we should invite Aunt Muriel for Easter dinner..hard inviting her when family is here because she takes over all the conversations and is loud but she is alone, listening to her might take tension off Mom and Sharon.

Mom broke a stained glass lamp shade I had made her years ago, if I could match colour of glass i might be able to repair it, brought me the base, heck they are about $100+ now, told me not to fix it and keep the base, I’ve had a top for about 10years, not sure where I got it but it fits the base..doesn’t show but it’s pink, will take another photo later, looks pretty. Think if I can match the pink I will do a small hanging for that room.

Maybe I will have a nap now that pies are out of the oven and before mom gets back because if I don’t do so now i will have no rest until bedtime unless mom goes for a nap

Sun has gone in and it almost looks and feels like a Nov day.

Betty your mom and mine are 2 peas in a pod although I know several people that stopped visiting mom after my dad died. Mom didn't drive so that limited her outings.

Liz thanks for the update on Judy.

I like the lamp Betty. I have some bases in 1 of the sheds. I hated doing lamps but there was a guy in Quebec who loved doing them. We were able to trade business. I think he has retired from SG too.

Gee whiz, so expensive here if you can get them..supplies are at a premium Gail says

Snowing here brrr

Going to my brother's house for Easter. My daughter said she'd come, too, my son and family is going to his MIL's house. I usually can't get both kids together at the same time.
I'm feeling ok, still achy now and then. My doctor wants an MRI done, so waiting for insurance approval for that.
Cold and windy here.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh my goodness!! You ladies have never had a pretzel salad???? Don't blame me if you get addicted. Since it is made with cool whip, I just eat it as dessert. We all fight over the leftovers! LOL
Strawberry Pretzel Salad serves 8
2 C crushed pretzels (Crushed and then measure the 2 cups worth)
¾ C melted Butter
3 TBSP sugar
MIX and press into 9 x 13 pan, bake 7 minutes and set aside to cool.
1 8oz pkg of cream cheese
¾ C sugar
Beat together until smooth & put over cooled crust. Refrigerate until well chilled.
2 @ 3oz strawberry gelatin into 2 C boiling water or pineapple juice, stir until dissolved, cool slightly & add:
2 @ 10oz frozen sliced strawberries, stir into the gelatin mixture & pour over the cream cheese & refrigerate.
1 8oz cool whip, spread over the gelatin when ready to serve.

You can used different fruits, mixed berries etc but our favorite is the strawberries. Ever since my Sister Law Dyanna brought this years ago, she has been assigned to bring this EVERY holiday. EVERY holiday, no exceptions!! The crispy, slightly salty sweet crust with the berries & cool whip is just HEAVENLY!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I love that lamp too. Very pretty. Hard to believe we are high 90's to 100, and you all up north are still getting snow.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Have to agree, pretzel salad is the bomb.

Happy Easter !

The Easter bunny had to make his/her way through the snow. Not much snow but it is sticking. 26* on the deck.

Lordy Lindakay, want heat but not so sure I want that high..my fav is 75F

Missed the snow Dianne..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy Easter everyone.
Pat, thanks for that recipe. It sounds delicious.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had a nice Easter dinner, everyone was being overly cordial, almost passed out, when Sharon left she said goodbye to mom and even gave her a peck on the cheek. I spent time with her setting her up to talk to her brother in B.C., my brother Bernie.. didn’t hear from brother Mike . She knew she had upset everyone, can tell because she was overly pleasant.

This trip should be her last one, she is very tired.. told Sharon last week that we will have to make a monthly trip once a month and take her out for breakfast, especially now it garden time.

Made a meal for Mel and Greg and Noah only to find out Greg has been at work working doubler shifts, seems he left for Florida the Talledega races in Alabama..messaged me that he was going to drop in and see me but thought better of it.

Joe my trusted friend who did behind house and steps this winter has had Covid past 8 days and quite ill..he messaged me this morning to wish me a Happy Easter

Someone enjoyed his 1st Easter

Sorry to hear Joe has covid. Praying he recovers fully and quickly.

Morning, 28f, my goal today along with Marie was to burn all those branches and few tree trunks but wind would carry me away..big sigh, so wanted to get that done, big sigh.

Mom just left, she looked so tired, was picking up Aunt Muriel for a few weeks.

Vacuum is looking at me, pulled it out then decided to put all of Easter in totes and in back shed, so now it’s vacuum time.

Got a message from my brother in law Re some sewing fir one of his water craft..don’t know what it is, told LeeAnn I would drop in to the office tomorrow afternoon, have some shopping to do..he thinks I can do anything, me not so much lol

Dianne, we are getting snow tonight and tomorrow, sure hooe it’s stays this way and misses you.

Thanks. Lindakay, yes Grayson is a cutie at least to me.. i am amazed just in a few week how he has grown and what he can now do..

What are you all up to?

Drats as I am typing my head is nodding off, best I get up now or I will be doing what Ziggy is doing, laying on the back of chesterfield sleeping.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I woke up at 4AM, used restroom & went to the recliner with Stanley, we slept until 9AM. I have a full week of NOTHING on the calendar! That means more sewing, a delivery out to the teen shelter and more work at Marie's.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice to sleep in for a change.
Sounds to me like you have plenty to keep you busy. You should almost be ready for longarm delivery.
What are you taking to their teen shelter?

Sharon paid for express shipping for one of her dog quilts that she was sending to Massachusetts, it was suppose to be delivered within a few days, tracking says it’s still at post office of origin. Sally who has been waiting impatiently called, they have no idea where it is… Sharon had great faith in ISA postal service and only out $100 insurance on it..would even cover fabrics.

Decided i am too tired to start that quilt border, am amazed at how I have been listening to myself when I say I am unable to do something, yeah for me, sooo I took out that window stained glass piece and hope to finish it.

You know, i talked myself right into a nap

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Good for you Betty, listen to yourself more often.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, but now it’s bedtime and I am wide awake 😜

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Have something warm and soothing and read a book.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I hope they find the quilt. Theft in the post office is the PITS. You should be able to trust the handlers. Like you said, $100 won't cover the fabric.

Marie had bookcases full of fabric to sort, patterns to cull, lots more to do. Anything that we found that a teen could use, we set aside. We had a few nightgowns that we had bought used for the fabric (repurposing into dolls nightgowns) and socks (that were purchased for doll crafts, they make the cutest leggings).

We still having a filing cabinet that needs a new location AND a huge oak old teacher's desk. It all still has to come out of the that room. Her son is going to install new BIG overhead lights in the room this weekend.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, 32F, light snow/rain throughout the day.

Wow Pat, that is a lot of work but well worth it when the long arm arrives.

Tossed & turned most of the night, wouldn’t you know Rogers my tv provider went out about 11.

Garbage day, got it out about 6:00 due to Ziggy, listening to the birds singing got him all excited and the meowing started.

Having my coffee then downstairs I go. Pat has an appointment with the doctor this morning so she will not be here, June I am hoping will decide not to come, would like the day to catch up but she is still not up to be out yet since Alex died so likely she wouldn’t be here long anyway.

At some point I have to go to Midland, look at the seadoo seat that Paul would like me to do..he thought he bought a pull on cover but it’s one that has to be stapled on, I have to equipment to do so but not sure I have the strength to pull the leather tightly over the seat, will see.

Now that Easter is behind us what are your plans for the week??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning.
Betty, I hope her quilts shows up soon.
I am working on another one block wonder quilt. All the pieces are cut, now to get them sewn together.
Have you heard from your specialist doctor yet?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, I needed Walt's help to redo bar stool covers. Same thing, no strength to pull it tight enough. Perhaps tell Paul you can do it but need to borrow his strength to get it on properly. He should see the work you have to do.
