It is a shame. I wish him well, but I don't see it working out.
Best/Worse/Whar did I learn Today? Chat with friends newcomers always welcome..come sit a spell!!
Oh no Lindakay, you must be so sad about not only losing your “home away from home” working in a fabric shop and quilting for, others, seeing the8r tops become treasure only to be passed on to her grandson who knows nothing..i do think you need a good understanding of the business to make a go of it, yep he will soon learn..drats I feel for you..Sharon just got me some Valentine’s Day fabric so i can finish my throw, $24.00:a meter..we have to pay because that is the standard price but state side there are a lot of options and now with online becoming ever so popular it won’t take long he will be out of bus8ness and it might go cheap..keep an ear open.
Karen sounds like you are making great strides with your mall walks, do you feel as though you are gaining strength?
I agree, Dianne lifting those logs must be exhausted but at the same time what warmth you get from wood burning stove
Speaking of heat, how is your furnace doing Debbie? Sharon just has last X-ray Re birth of her dogs on Tuesday, there are 3..she wanted either 2 or 4..one will live in California..the gentleman has a 9 yr old and would like another… quite something fir the Westminster Dog Show being cancelled again, was cancelled last year as well was it not?
Don’t fight the pain Pat, take those pain killers..those grab boxes sound very interesting..great that you will get to try your new toy… when will you get it?
Zggy was a fan of pulling pins out of the pin cushion and flicking them on the floor..a couple times i set the quilt on frame and he would lay on it, used it as a hammock and to entertain himself pulled pins out and fell out, claws grabbing and ripping the quilt.
He laid next to me a good part of the afternoon then i guess the heating pad was too hot so he found a resting place on top of the couch.
I have to say doing what i did this morning and the applying all the heat has helped immensely.
Imagine, 4pm and i am still up, pinned a few things together (type of flying geese) for length to the throw..if i did it now then maybe come morning i could do borders.
Glad Sharon got you some fabric you needed.
And we complain paying $12.00 a yard. Betty, you need to invest in a heated mattress pad. We use one, and it just relaxes all your muscles.
Betty, I have seen online stores that advertise they mail to Canada. Yes, the postage is higher than we would pay to have it shipped to us in the states but surely that would beat having to pay $24 a meter! HOLY COW!
Although the pain pill I took was this morning, more than 7 hours ago, I do feel better for the sleep etc.
Just popping in to say HI.
Betty - glad the heating pad helped. I have a heated mattress pad, and in the winter it's a godsend.
Linda - I disagree with Betty, I don't think he'll learn, at least not about a quilt / fabric shop. If he runs it into the ground, then he may make it into another type of shop, or sell it. At least, that's my thought.
Pat, you need to take the pain killers before the pain gets too bad, so you don't need to fight the pain.
It's warming up a lot here. Went from -45c the other week, to +5c today (+41F). That's Alberta & chinook winds!
The furnace is still working, so I'm hopeful I can get through this heating season.
3 pups is a nice size litter. Will she keep one to show? Last year Westminster was moved to an outdoor location in June. They say it's not cancelled, just postponed, so we'll see.
Glad to hear you are getting warmer weather Susan.
I pray he can make it work, but he is greedy enough, if the shop doesn't make it, he will probably take it across the border to Mexico, and sell it for pennies. So sad.
Morning, we are in deep freeze here today, I will spend my day with heating pad, seems to have helped big time up yesterday.
Debbie, must have been a good Mr. Fix It man for sure, here is hoping it gets you through the winter. There will many dog owners and trainers disappointed,
Lindakay would you have considered purchasing it had she offered?
Susan i had a heated mattress cover for years, then put fireplace in the bedroom, remote control, bed is always mega toasty when i climb into bed. Not a wonder people get colds from deep freeze into warm spring l8ke days and then back into deep freeze..as for pain meds Susan you are right, doctor says even no pain, keep taking the meds on regular basis NOT wait till you are in so much pain you can’t stand it.
Pat, sure hope the pain subsides..as for ordering and having it shipped..by the time you pay USA exchange, shipping etc, not much difference.
My Pat called me last night to tell me a friend of ours passed away in the afternoon, Jean Eason. (97) she was a different sort, cantankerous lady, Roger and she worked on a committee together, was like water and fire. She did live a good life though,
Going to see if i can put in a few hours downstairs..
We are in an extreme cold warning for a few days. Betty and Debbie probably have the same weather. The wood pile and the wood stove will be my best friend for a few more days.
I've been waiting until about noon to walk the dogs. Even with long underwear I was freezing. The TH made the decision to turn back after just a few minutes outside. The wind is howling off of the lake.
Hope all of you are keeping warm.
LOL... when your dogs say it's too cold, you KNOW it's COLD!!
Debbie, here's hoping the furnace makes it thru this winter OK.
Good to see you pop in Susan.
I would have to look for my heated mattress pad. I gave it up when Ben & I got married. I remember I used to turn it on high, get ready for bed and then shut it off. That was enough to keep the bed from being ice cold when I got in, that is all I needed.
I got a little work done on my black & neon heart quilt yesterday. I would love to have the quilt top done today but I think it will be nip & tuck if I have enough fabric for the all the sashing. I may need to make another trip to Walla Walla.
i sitting here near front window, i swear i could be wearing summer clothes and still be hotgood sign sun is starting to heat up..
I don’t blame the dogs Dianne, Ziggy doesn’t even step foot on back deck when it’s cold like this.
I did spend awhile downstairs, did a towel, always try on a $2 towels to check design and wether or not I’d do another.,yes,mi will pick up a few t-towels and di few more..
To make my design to turn out i added to sides but now more length needed..too funny, was suppose to me a small throw but it’s getting way larger than i wanted.
Put a tv dinner on, hope i don’t lose my energy..am hurting but i am fighting it, think might be time for a cane when walking around upper floor..never thought i would say those words.
lol Betty - love your hand towel! "a whole lot of butter" lmao!!!
Dianne - you know it's cold when the dogs don't want to go out! Apparently Great Pyrennes dogs love the cold, but I'm not one of them! I can hardly wait for Spring.
Well, I'm still taking down & moving Bob's stuff out of the house into the RV., Last night I took down his dart board, and the plaster ram's head above it. Now, to take down the backboard he had behind it.
As it's nicer weather, I'm able to get the stuff out of the house.
Have a great day everyone!
Quake your place a bit more you..big move but a good one Susan.. wish i could go out and do a few things.enjoy it.
Will Bob pick up the RV in the spring?
Greg had gone snowmobiling last weekend up north with a bunch of guys from his work, was talking to him a while ago he was off all week as one of them had Covid, just got checked over and got a clear on himself so he’s pleased with that
Betty don't hesitate to use a cane if needed. It's better than a fall.
Mall walk was not good today. I didn't sleep well and was tired and hubby's hip hurt. We did go to Lowe's after so got in more walking there.
Still no mail delivery here, Had in paper it's due to lack of employees. Not just us, all over town. People are going to main to pick up but line is 2 hours long. Not doing that. I Took Lorelei's card to mail at P.O. sure hope it goes, I called Melanie to tell her that hers is on it's way....hopefully. I checked and all bills are paid for month, except Verizon and I can get that online so no worries there for a while.
Great that you both decided that it’s not in your best interest to do mall walk today, no sense trying it and regretting it later. I can see Karen a lot of services being affected with lack of staff…what do you pay for stamps..i cannot tell you how long it is since i put stamp on a card think Marie said it was about a $$$, could that be so?
There are good programs you can purchase purchase to make cards for all types of special event, make them personal and then can just send via email..not same as getting a card but better than no card?
Think i shall have a hot bath then surf i dead to make last of bottom throw
Bored, need something different to keep me busy…any ideas
We did walk the mall but not the full perimeter today.
I had to look it up, postage is now $.58 per ounce. I buy what they call forever stamps. They are good no matter how much the postage rises. Of course the next time you have to buy them the rate is up again. I bought a sheet of cartoon monster to put on the kids cards. I love to send to them because they love getting mail. The little ones are stickers too to scatter on the envelopes.
They are adorable..i can imagine the excitement getting a card from you.
i bought a sheet, not sure if it was stateside or Canadian side, all over stamps With Fred Rogers on them from Mr.Rogers and his neighbourhood.
Misunderstood about your walking today, glad you got out.
Betty, I was offered to buy the shop, but I don't need that headache. I passed. She was asking $40,000.00. Not a bad price, but the building needs mega repairs. New roof, flooring...
A business can really tie you down. I don't think I could handle that unless you have very good partners who could handle it time you need to get away.
Our local quilting store just changed hands. I wish her the very best and love shopping there but.......
Morning, high of -28 today, snow moving in later so much like last week.
That does sound reasonable Lindakay but does one on our way of creeping into our golden year need the responsibility and hassles of running a business.what is fun soon does not become fun when you are doing for a living. Seems there is a demand to quilting though, maybe you can find a used longarm and enjoy doing your quilts and as needed do a few others.
Finished what i had to do here on main floor, now downstairs to see what i can get into.
Liz how are things going your way..
What are in all of your plans?
That's too cold for me.
I am in San Antonio. Getting ready to head back home as soon as the sun comes up.
My legs have been hurting me for quite some time. Thought it was old age setting in. But because I have varicose veins, Dr wanted to make sure it wasn't blood clots. Yesterday I had a doppler test done on both legs. Now I just wait for results.
I wish I had room for a longarm.
Those stamps are really cute, Karen. I think I'll try and get a sheet of those next time I get near the post office!
Temps in the teens, and they're predicting 3-5 inches of snow between this afternoon and tomorrow morning. We'll see, they're wrong more than right. We haven't had much snow at all so far this winter.
Oh Lindakay, that is worrisome, had they seen blood clots would they not have told you already? hope results are quicker with results than here..
Would be nice to have longarm, not a bedroom you could convert? How far is closest place the rent them out?
Bet you aren’t complaining Debbie, no snow her today
Linda, the good news is, you made the decision that was right for you. Best deal in the world isn't worth the hassle if it's not what you want or need!
Karen, the stamps are adorable! I have not seen stamps that include the little stickers with them, great idea! My mom used to fill out any of her rebate coupons in the grandkids name & have the checks sent to their house. They loved getting extra mail and the $1 or so that was included.
Susan, I am glad you have a place to push his stuff off to. Makes clearing out your house easier. No reason for you to store his stuff.
Betty, I was doing something yesterday and thought you. "About time Betty drug out the green fabric now!" Your R&W is sure turning out pretty. I wish I enjoyed making flying geese and had perfected a way that was less wasteful. I will have to study one of those "make 4 at once" tutorials.
There is no loss the way i do mine,…
You would be proud of me Pat, i don’t think I’ve enough st Patrick’s day green or Easter fabric to make a mug rug so will be jumping over those
I am pretty sure there were no clots. I think they would have told if there was.
We have an extra bedroom, but it's already full of my sewing supplies, fabrics, machine... I think I need to reorganize, maybe downsize. I have 24 plastic tubs of fabric, and it always seems I never have what I need. Or enough of what I need.
I am more likely to have the problem of not FINDING what I need. That does not mean I don't HAVE it! LOL
Betty, you will have to show me a link to the way you make your flying geese. I love the way they look, that's why I would LIKE to learn the skill and get GOOD at it. I frequently will substitute 2 HST rather than do a flying geese.
I would like to know how to do it also.
Hello - high of +46F today. Sure nice, after the low of -46F a couple of weeks ago!
I hadn't gone to church since before Christmas, so tomorrow I shall.
I got a lot more of his stuff cleared out. It's beginning to look like a home, and not a lot of tools and other like-minded stuff. His swords & knives are all locked in the shed, with a new lock. The police had said, when he gets his stuff back, that I'm not to give him any weapons of any kind. I haven't seen him anywhere around, but people tell me they've seen him & her, together & him separately. Not my problem, or my business, but it helps my case when I get the divorce.
I finished one prayer shawl for my old church, and working on another. The way I feel, it's still the same denomination and if I can help the congregation, why shouldn't I? btw - remember that HORRID counselling session we had back in April where the minister advised that he Should be able to finish working at Naomi's? My "negotiation" was to allow 1 to 2 days a week, with more added "when you're comfortable with it"!!!! Well, I found out that the minister is no longer with that church. Back in Oct I'd transferred to a church in another town, same denomination. It's where my friend Pat HAD been going, but now that she's in a Lodge, it's one in Trochu, where it's one of the 3 churches THAT minister preached. I'm going to a church, now, in another county so never had to have her for a minister. The general word is that she retired due to covid (not that she had it, but just generally that it's around). I don't believe that for a minute. She did services via Zoom for all 3 churches. I had reported her, and there was an investigation of her counselling. That's what I think the True story of her leaving is. She was about the same age as me, in her 60's, and ministers don't retire (generally) that early.
I won't be transferring back however. It took some thought to leave for another. It would look awkward to say the least, to go back.
Morning, oh Susan send me some of that western weather, it’s so cold here..stormed all last night and more to come.
Woke up to the most amazing sound, Joe was just leaving, entire drive done, yard cleared out, garbage area done, steps done, car cleared off..stretched my body out. And thanked the Lord for sending me Joe.
Susan, likely your version sounds the most plausible. Know how much your Sunday church mean to you and the prayer shawl will be well received.
Oh wow Linda, would love to go through all those totes, would be best fun ever… i have over Covid been working with anything and everything, match or not and seems project comes together… i need batting though, that i do miss joanns for
Pat and Lindakay i also use 1/2 block triangles..with using that little double 1/4 in ruler (has a name, can’t remember) to mark the inner sewing lines takes the stress flying geese away.
Karen, will you and Walt do Mall on weekends?
Deb did you get this band of snow?
Up a lot of the night with pain in bones, thought I’d spend more time in bed this morning but decided hot bath and meds might give me a few hours of craft room time, can always come back to bed when need to..…
must go to Foodland this morning though, need coffee and bread until i go to town
Spoke to Darlene last night, John’s FIL (deceased wife’s father) passed away so he will fly home Thursday for the funeral.too bad he wasn’t coming this end, could have had Darlene pack up a Joanns fabric suitcase..
What are you all up to today?
Just got in from shovelling. We got about 4 inches overnight. Some plows have been out, but, streets still aren't cleared well enough to head out for my usual Sunday morning grocery shopping, though. It's still snowing a little, but, I don't think we'll get much more accumulation from it.
I sure wouldn't mind your temps, Susan. Even though I dread the mud from melting snow, my puppy has just so much energy, and it's too cold for him to be outside too long. Inside he's driving me and the older dogs crazy getting into everything.
hahahaha "4 inches" The last dump of snow we got, 2 days after I shovelled, was 1 foot! Wearing my ankle-high boots meant the snow got inside when walking down the side of my place. Alongside my place is pretty much the only mud I get. Otherwise it's pavement or gravel.
Church today - getting ready now. Afterwards I'm going to get a replacement mask. I had 2 clear plastic ones, and mislaid them somehow. I know Smitty's sells them for $5, so will get a new one today, after church.
Susan, I know you are looking forward to getting all his things out. How much longer till the divorce is final.
Extremely cold but sitting here having coffee and porridge with sunshine streaming in.
Still a lot of snow Debbie when not equipped..sun is creating slippery conditions..hope now you are shovelled out that is it for a few days..
Don’t think they allow plastic visor type masks here as being official masks
So sure my neck problem is due to pinched nerve, carried groceries in, 2 cases pop and big plastic container of kitty litter and my fingers have gone numb..
Did buy strong Alegre like you all advised me to do..going to take one and see if it helps better than Tylenol 3..pharmacy told me to watch what i take seeing my kidneys are bad…i will worry about kidneys after i worry about pain lol…
Yikes, was hard doing my groceries this morning, prices have skyrocketed big time and lot of what i wanted wasn’t on the shelf…
Our weather has been much milder, in the 40s during the day and dropping down to low 30 or high 20s. Our snow is gone,
Susan, you are in my prayers & I will bet your guess of why the Pastor is REALLY gone is accurate. I don't know how much training in counseling that is required for a Pastor in Canada, but I am relieved to hear she is DONE!
Betty, your prayers for help have certainly been answered!! Now to find ways to get the pain under control. Call for your MRI results, I wonder if they have just somehow forgotten that they have not given them to you.
Linda, I don't know what the regulations are where you live, but would it be worth purchasing a Hickey shed, or something similar, and moving the fabric out to that ? Then set up a Longarm in that bedroom? Basically, that is what I did several years ago to prepare a guest room. I moved all the storage out to a barn I purchased. I have really been pleased with it. LOL, I still remember selling my idea to Ben. "If we could add on a bedroom for $3,000, would you do it" Buying the barn and moving our storage out to it freed up a whole bedroom (the one I am now in).
Finding a way to exercise Kai in the house may be the only way to save your sanity!
Don’t know what i would do without my shed..is a good idea though to get all bins out of the bedroom and have room for it.
Pat, good sell to Ben lol
I’ve made many calls, doctor will call me Feb3rd and i my injections Feb 16
Guess i have to be patient til then, trying to talk myself off the couch and go sew a bit, not sure that will happen.
Foodland had just taken a chicken pot pie out of the oven, won’t have to cook supper.. oh happy days
With the sunshine today Dianne is likely treating the TH to outdoor walks..
I messaged Joe to stop in, i was in bed and didn’t pay him his $10
This is what he replied
Cheapest sheds here start at $5000.00. They must be placed on a concrete slap. That's another $3000.00. Then I need to insulate it and run power. That's probably another $2000.00.
Betty, that was nice of joe to do the shoveling for free.
Our prices have shot up here too. Never find what you need. Something has to be done soon.
Susan, here in Texas, the are recommending that we wear m95 paper mask, or a well made fabric mask with filter. It must cover your mouth and nose and be snug.
Plastic shied masks are not allowed.
Awesome young man you have there Betty.
