Mall walk was good but tiring. I made it though. 1 full lap. Lunch at Chick Fil A after as a reward. Got all our other running done too. P.O. to send package of jerky to our Sailor boy. pick up script, and home again.

Sharon and Brian came over this afternoon, i had some fabric Sharon needed to finish 2 quilts, here friend Sally who works at joanns said they were out of what Sharon wanted, she usually sends a shipment to Canada every couple of months, they were told 2 in her area were closing… she is only getting about 4 hrs a day and not all days.. I will have to look at what area she lives in, for some reason i think in your state.

Susan a very rarely use mine, it’s older of course but new ones here are around $1,000 + so i will keep mine..when the dealership was in business i tape the girl threading it, even got finger nail polish in different colours so i could better figure out how to thread, i just don’t have serger patience lol

Don’t think Loralie was ever in great demand, could have been but don’t recall.

Bet Dianne it was wonderful having someone to speak with than isn’t a furry..weather co-operated? How i miss my Saturday morning trips to Canadian tire..did you come home with goodies? Was think8mg because Marie is so good to me that i might but her and Ted one of the car snow cleaners..

Big smile when you said you would have to hide Kai’s new toys, yes they are that smart aren’t they.. hope they aren’t anticipating any surgery on the eyes??

Greg and Jeff are back, i can see Greg smiling from ear to ear with this heavy snowfall..yikes, lots of problems with trail system, not The federations fault, lack of snow but more those riding don’t stick to the trails thus creating mega problems trying to get permission to travel on farmland. Know they are disappointed because their mid February to Newfoundland may once again be cancelled

Brian worked on my generator trying to get it going this afternoon, had it started at least after fixing some wiring..he needed one special nut and wouldn’t you know i had it, he was amazed. Greg picked up spark plug so might drop in tonight and put it in and set the battery tender..hope it works, would be one less worry.

Body is still in major pain Re the cold, i did 5 of the 12 aprons (put pocket on them) then gave up for today..said i would not charge, they send homemade tomato soup freshly jarred and a bread muffin home so a real treat lol

Dianne will get an updated photo for you of Grayson

Hot bath running, best I go soak these old bones

I went on Amazon & saw sergers for over $350. I can't afford that, so it will have to go by the way.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do you sew enough to warrant a serger Susan? Perhaps if you keep an eye out on market sale places you might find one. What has the weather been like in your area?

Deb, usually you get similar to me, how has your weather been?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Loralie fabrics have been around a while. MANY stores do not carry them. They are a fun novelty fabric. https://www.loraliedesigns.com/cart The fabric is high quality and the fabric colors coordinate across all the different collections. NEW! CANADA - FEDEX GROUND ONE FLAT RATE - $20.00 (DUTIES INCLUDED) - 6 DAY DELIVERY! you can get a lot of fabric in a flat rate box! Check out the fabric collections, they are SOOOOO cute!!

It truly is a blessing to just be able to do something like the apron pockets as a gift and then benefit from the goodwill it generates. I've sewn on patches etc on Service dog harnesses and other projects for no charge in an effort to give back to the people who are in need or serve the disabled.

Over 30 years ago and a friend INSISTED that as much as I sewed, I HAD to have a serger. I bought a used for $200 and used it for years and years. My Ovation I bought from Marie when she upgraded to a Triumph (both by BabyLock)

If my sewing was only quilts, I would not bother. They are horribly expensive to get a good one. My Ovation air threads the lower threads, Marie's air THREAD ALL 4 threads!!! They make sewing the doll clothes so much faster and easier. Can I justify the expense - no. But really, who can justify any hobby expense?

If I had not received my heritance from my Dad, I would have not been able to buy the machines (even used). I think of my Dad and bless him for all the ways he has made my life easier. He and Mom were such good people. I am lucky to have been born into my family.

IMorning, last nights snowfall missed us, more to come today but hoping not much shovelling involved. would have thought doing doll clothes would have been beyond tedious with serger.

I will check the link you send me Re projects on does not want to do and today’s links,

Mom always says when she passes she hopes we all spend it on something we wouldn’t normally have spent $$ on. Once years ago she kept telling me to buy a small RVH..too old for that now.

It’s early, should really try to fall back to sleep but want to finish the aprons and move on to a January to do project

Besides a hot bath will help these old bones.

Weekend is here again, any plans? Most exciting for me is picking up my new glasses

See how fast plans change, i have day off..thought today was Friday lol

I just a long post. I'll BBL.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I don't do EVERYTHING on a serger, but for instance, I sew the crotch front seam on pants, then serge the upper along waist and hems. THEN I take it to the machine & sew the fold over for elastic at waist and hem pants. Run the elastic thru and finish the crotch & leg seam & done. Because it is only a 1/4 inch seam allowance, I like using the serger because it's sewing and finishing all at once so I don't have to sew twice. It keeps me front turning the waist & hem twice.

On sleeveless shirts etc, the serging of the edge makes it easier to turn and sew, get a clean look. I could never do that with just folding once or twice with the regular machine.

I spent yesterday with a good friend. We spent a couple of hours in quilt store picking out the fabric for her next quilt. She is new to sewing quilts but has been quilting on long arm for a longer period of time Like she says, she got into it backwards! Her mother and sister had longarms and she loved that process, so she learned to make quilts after she retired just 2 years ago.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I got my Singer serger many many years ago...from Spiegel catalog. Yes that long ago. It's still working just fine and in fact I got a second one, just in case that I've never had to use. Then my aunt gave me hers. So here I sit with three and I very seldom use them any more unless shortening something or mending. I could easily sell the three of them plus about 5 sewing machines and never miss them. Problem is I don't want to mess with shipping them. I've done that a couple times and it was a royal pain. Making sure the packing was secure enough and then worrying until I heard they arrived safely. I do have a friend who is buying fabric from me and she will pick up. Most of the QOV fabric and I have hundreds of yards, much new on bolts, I'm taking to MI next trip and donating to a group there. I know it will go to good use there. I also have about 40 panels I will take along too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wish i was passing your house Karen..lol

Pat, at,least you make good use of yours

Phoned to make appointment for my injection in neck and hip, also checked to make sure injection script is sent to pharmacy and that all my renewals are with pharmacy as well..asked the secretary if my MRI results are in, yes they are but she could not tell me when he will get time to call with result grrrr

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, I am sure that the groups will be very grateful for your donations of all that RWB fabric and panels. I am sad that you don't feel you can do that sewing anymore. About 2 years ago I bit the bullet and got rid of the extra sergers and sewing machines.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Frustrating to wait for the results when YOU KNOW they are in!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Is frustrating but will be more so if nothing shows up

Want something to show up so badly

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying you get results soon Betty.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - the weather here was horrible last week. -39c / -45c with windchill. That's why my hot water taps froze.
Now, the temperatures are +6c. Thank goodness for Chinook winds! The temps are "only" going to minus mid-teens, so it's normal winter temps.
I went bowling in the league on Tuesday. It was great to be bowling again :)

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I know Betty, you WANT answers so you can FIX the problem.

Too cold for my wussy body! You'd think with all my "insulation" nothing would phase me!! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, no call as yet from doc..grrr
Would love to go to town while sun is shinning but stoo really cold but keep saying what if he calls…i said I’d give it till Monday then let my fingers do the walking calling his office.

Glad it’s warming up for you Susan..lived bowling on league but i am a poor player..

I am very a Gree (wrote a note to Kyle) Destiny his girlfriend posted on Facebook and has me riled up, not that i was a visitor but her post was mean, hurtful and no class..if she was upset with some call them and tell them, don’t post on Facebook a for all to take it personally..Greg and Mel have taken it personally..feel bad.. i changed a few swear words

They haven’t come for Xmas gifts, rest assured hers will no longer be in the bags..
Maybe I’m being mean.. i don’t know
Valid in most instances but i know so many who dropped in with beautiful gifts.. i have been raised and always have had an open door policy.. I’d be hurt if you said you were near the house and drove past without stopping..

Must be the mood i am in

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I can see her point. She really should have made all this clear in the very beginning. Maybe even a note on the door to please call before visiting. She could have posted that in the beginning too.
I would be more concerned about too many people coming any how these days. I could not see my newest great for quite a while all because his parents were concerned with keeping him safe and considered that more important. Truly I think all parents should. Another is over a year old and if anyone wants to hold her, they have to wear a mask.

Victoria Harbour, ON

No she has valid points it’s just that the way she did it on Facebook the few who did see him like Greg and Mill now feel badly and think she’s speaking about them. Just not the way to do it in my opinion. Guess Melanie had words with Kyle over it and Kyle said just too bad you won’t see the baby anymore

I’d be saying well all those days you’re for me to come and ask me to sit with the baby at your house so you can go out for a leisurely supper or a drive etc. etc. perhaps I won’t be able to.

Big war anyway for nothing, if she was displaced it was behind her. Make new rules and as you say post them on the door if that’s what she wants but don’t hash every single thing that’s going on in the last four months for goodness sake‘s. What’s more maddening as she sits there and never talks you can’t even get to words out of her it’s an effort to try and have a conversation with her then she does these posts all the time. Last one was how she got pregnant when she was in the deepest of her depression well if I was Kyle I’d be asking what the heck?

She wasn’t my favourite person before and as you can tell she certainly isn’t now. Feel sorry for Melanie as she won’t even put anything that Melanie buys for the baby on the baby. Think we are all trying to hard to adjust to her ways on everything not the baby of course but just all her ways.. every time something is said Kyle reminds us that she’s bipolar that she’s having breakdowns etc. etc.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That's not a way to tell everyone. She needs to talk to everyone in person or on the phone. I can see her concern, but should have done properly. Not on Facebook.

Victoria Harbour, ON

My thoughts..

Gee whizzz i must have been 8n a wicked mood..got my glasses, did groceries, stopped at Giant Tiger..there was a woman unloading supplies, heard her f this to that Re unloading..i spoke up and told her i didn’t come shopping hear that kind of language..Betty,Betty,Betty.

Turned the fireplace on in my bedroom , nice and toasty..love the sound it makes, sounds like fire legs crackling

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes Betty, it is tough to have people with "limited vocabulary" within hearing range.

I agree, Facebook (or any other public place) is not a place to spill venom. Nor am I a fan of what I call "blanket statements". Each person is then left to wonder if they are the offending party.

I'm sorry that Greg & Melanie are feeling the hurt. At some point Kyle may realize he can't just label everything "mental health" and give Destiny a free pass to be a jerk. At one point as a new mother, I hung a sign on my front door "Sorry, baby & Mom are napping, we would love to see you another time!" Although I RARELY did that, sometimes I just desperately needed that nap!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Trust me I know how tough it is to deal with bi-polar. My middle sister is and she put the entire family through hell especially at holidays. I have no contact with her now and believe me my life is more peaceful for it.

Verona, ON

Oh Betty I think you are covered with this announcement from Environment Canada I know I am. Extreme cold warning issued for overnight. The wood stove is in full throttle.

While I don't condone Destiny's way of posting on FB for everyone a phone call should have been made especially to Greg and Mel and her parents if they are on the scene. Lots of young people today use FB like we would be sending a note, an invitation or a phone call. I have actually been invited to a wedding on FB. It was a blanket invite for whoever (or is it whomever) wanted to attend. And Betty you are right Kyle can't use the bipolar card every time something happens. My heart aches for the situation Destiny has created. She and Grayson are missing out on genuine love and attention.

Chaos is not a fan of this cold temperature. He runs out takes care of business and is right back at the door. Kai on the other hand doesn't seem to mind. He is too busy announcing to the people ice fishing he knows they are there.

This afternoon I let both Chaos and Kai out on purpose to greet some people who thought they were going to build a fire on my land. I don't own the lake but I do own where they were starting to build a fire. You know if they had come up to the house I would have said yes and point them in the direction of an excellent spot to build a fire.

LK how are you doing in the cold freeze ? I wonder if Deb is in the area that has a winter storm alert plus freezing rain ordered for tonight.

Time for last call. I am going to read while I lay in my bed with 2 huge Rottis to keep me warm.

Sweet dreams everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning, I am right along with Dianne, -25 with a feel like -30, sky is clear, walked out to recycle and you could feel the cold snapping below your feet.

Great day to pick a project and sewing…went shopping and forgot wool, had intended to make a small knitted or crochet throw to occupy my time…no wool so no project 🥱. might take a run to town later as the slacks I bought yesterday (large) need to be returned for medium..

Yes, saw the announcement yesterday, most concerning is the truckers, but if the rules are made for all then it’s made for all. While i was shopping yesterday there was a special on paper towels and toilet paper,, sad state of affairs when you have to think out buying a product….paper towels/toilet paper..buy extra of toilet paper as the trucking situation could cause a shortage, paper towels you can always use t towels and washcloths..if i go to town and there are more I’ll pick up a few..picked up another bag of cat food as there seems to be a shortage, i will pick up another.

It’s a crazy world out there…but when i look around me it’s decorated to be homey and welcoming..i enjoy just sitting around enjoying.

As for Destiny ai decided after reading a few more to block her posts, what i don’t see won’t hurt me..

Hope you’ve nice weather everyone and plans for the day that make you smile.

Sorry, been missing for the past week or so. I have been reading and following along.
I hope you get your MRI results soon, Betty, it shouldn't take this long!!

With this latest storm that's going through the midwest, the Chicago area is only supposed to get 1-2" of snow. Temps now are in the mid 20's, so not too bad.
Went 2 nights early in the week, without heat. Furnace went out on Sunday night, had the heating guy out, and, I was told that alot of parts are obsolete, because it's 30 years old. He was able to put something together that seemed to work, but, woke up to a house that was in the low 40's inside. He came back, re-did the igniter and got it working again, and, so far, so good.

I took my puppy to a show last Sunday, he did good, but, running with him really messed up my bad knee. It's been a long time since I've shown a dog, and, guess I'm even more out of shape than I thought.

I can understand Destiny's complaints, but, she should have been clear early on. I come from a drop in if you're in the neighborhood kind of family, my sister in law always hated when I would stop by, and made it very clear. My brother on the other hand would tell me to just ignore her and we'd have our own visit while she grumbled and went about her own business. Kyle needs to stick up for his family, too.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I thought of showing a dog & running with them.... yeah my knees are sympathizing!

Not witnessing Destiny's posts is probably a good choice. I still my tease my sons about "choosing wisely", as I never had daughters the only ones I get are the ones they marry in.

Things are a little quieter on the home front. Things between my DIL and I seem to be a little better. I wish it were a closer relationship but at least we not activating avoiding each other. I had put Adam on notice that he was NOT to run interference. IF she wanted or needed something, she needed to put on her big girl panties and come to me herself. First time or 2, he came with her, but after that, she has actually approached me herself. Sounds silly to see being texted & asked to let the dogs out when she wanted to stay later at school, or borrow a miniature screwdriver set, or mend something, is an improvement in a relationship. The fact she is asking herself is a HUGE improvement.

I think it also helps that with the sign on the front door reminding people to shut the door QUIETLY my nerves are not as frayed. I have actively got after the kids when they "forget".

Adam is struggling with the backing up of the semi & today he is going to get some extra practice and coaching from Marie's son Chris. Adam takes his HazMat testing next week.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, came from town, nobody is out as it’s -25 right now, feels colder if that is possible.

What a time Deb for your furnace to go out, drats, had to be cold for you all , bet you snuggled up with the furries, will you be think8mg of replacing it or hoping his fix is ok?
Maybe you will have to get someone to show him in the ring..seems easy when you watch it on t.v. But am sure it’s a lot to do with the dog winning.

Suppose to get snow either tomorrow or Monday, was to be your your 2” but calling for another blast.

Yep, same here, door always open, bring in as many as you want and take me and house as it is.

Sitting on couch with heated throw, bones enjoying it. Have to wonder how it’s so cold out when the sun is soooo hot coming in through front window,,,Ziggy sitting staring at me, not sure what he wants.

Ooops TV dinner must be done..micro beeping away

Hoping i can talk myself into going downstairs and getting 8nto a project.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Destiny did NOT do this the right way. Maybe postpartum depression or because of her being bi-polar, but that being said, she did not choose an appropriate way to state her feelings. I find too many things posted on FB, like deaths, weddings & vacations. In those cases, thieves target homes where they know people aren't home. I never post personal things on FB and actually rarely read my news feed. People post such intimate stuff literally for the whole world to hear. I'd sooner hear an in-person conversation.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good evening everyone.
Our hight today was 62, supposed to drop to 31 tonight.
Betty, I hope you can make things right with your grandson as well as the rest of the family. Not a good way to start a new marriage.

Stay warm everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, another bitter cold day in my neighbourhood with storm heading our way,,

Lindakay, that is a cold one for you..you’ve space heaters as i remember…are you finding a difference in this winter?

You are right Susan, think more prefer messaging and Facebook to express themselves as they can’t do it face to face.

I layed on the couch and fell asleep most of yesterday afternoon and left couch and right into bed…made sure the phone was on my bed just incase doctor called but that did not happen…big sigh.

Getting ready to go downstairs and package up a gift for aunt Muriel..need to find and arrange some of her paperwork and seeing her birthday Thursday I picked gift/cake and Sharon will come with me at 10:00 for an hour visit.

So until i leave i need to make work on a “some bunny loves you” pillow as LeeAnn’s birthday is this week a d she lives valentines..not sure what i can make for Suzanne, her birthday is the 30th…guess i could go buy gifts but hand made more appreciated.

Coffee in hand with toasted raisin bread, off to start my day

Your plans??

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Supposed to be wicked weather here too but seems it's missing us. We have wind and rain but not looking for snow.
Kids are home tomorrow any how, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Missing my family and not knowing when we can see them again.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Temperatures are about normal for us. Just praying we don't get another mid February snow storm like last year.
Yes, we have space heaters, and that is enough to keep us warm.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How you must miss them Karen, know family is your all…hugs

glad you have the heaters Lindakay, you don’t use them that many days of winter do you?

Just got back from aunt Muriel’s, enjoyable visit but she is failing..at 92 she has every right to be failing.. was a game for Sharon and I, she was in hundreds of different conversation within one.. she wanted me to help her with some papers, then brought me to a room with files and was going through inc9me taxol 30+ years…poor thing..

Dust dust everywhere, next to do today is change furnace filter, get some pea soup out of freezer and decide what i would like to cook for supper…I’ve TV dinners but it’s Sunday should treat myself to a real meal…lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

We have another "Special" weather warning - Wind gusting to 70km. I knew I could feel a draft in my den. Can hardly wait until Spring, when I can have someone look at it. All I know is that the water pipes are well insulated, so in very cold weather I still have to keep the water running so it doesn't freeze.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is a pain Susan, always 9n watch just like i with sump pump, although for me much easier with this cold as water in the ground is frozen.

Now i suppose you will worry about power going off with such high winds..am sure you’ve candles and flashlights just incase. Keep us posted you are ok.. not sure when our snow is expected.

Since my last post I’ve been on the phone, not a phone person but thought my turn to do the calling, great friends, most in need with sick hubbies or sick themselves so was nice chatting with them all.

Drats, opened the closet door a little harder than i should have to get vacuum out and door fell out of its grove..here is hoping i can put it back in the track, if not, Greg will have to come do another fix it project!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, those doors are heavy. Please wait for Greg to fix it.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

EXCELLENT advice Linda! Now to see if Ms Independent takes it! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oops, I lost my post.

Storm has started there will be going nowhere today..
Needed a package of metal supplies for the closet door but it will have to wait until the storm has passed us by. Believe Diane you will be hit by the storm is well, stay safe and warm!

Once I get my footing today I will try and bring up a mat and rotary cutter and play with the little box of scrap Valentine’s Day fabric and see if there is enough of anything ti make a little throw, something to fill in my day.

Sure hope your day will be a sunshine day
