Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Chat with friends old and new..come pull up a chair and know you will be welcomed!!!

Oh Betty, I know better than to think your idea of mess is ANYWHERE near the mess I capable of having!! hehe!! I will say that living in this much smaller place has really helped me to stay picked up and cleaned up consistently. I can't shut the door and ignore it, THIS is my living space. My sewing room & bedroom, a private bathroom, that's it folks.

Having Adam's dogs here has recently upped the dust factor. Places that were "packed dirt" , or a lite cover of gravel are now torn up and dusty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh my Dianne, i don’t buy much from Foodland, much more costly than other chains and $$ savings worth the short drive to Midland. Imagine it’s a much longer drive for you to shop elsewhere

I also love fruit..had raspberries last night, they were $2.49

I often wonder Dianne how the can Ford to eat, don’t think there e many Sunday night family dinners when roasts are $50.

I had to pay first $100 and that will do me the year..only prescription i have to pay for is sleeping pills $32;a month. Just got my flue shot an hour ago, no charge..no extra insurance nut it seems to be reasonable. Pharmacist was telling me he just got Covid booster info, it has to be 6 months since your 2nd vaccine, be over 70 or work in medical profession.

Same here Dianne, i vacuum every morning, looking at shed hair you would think Ziggy would be hairless..imagine Kai can bring in a fair amount of dirt in with each outing..endless task.

Deb, Sharon’s dog handler put little puppy in dog show on weekend and he won best of show..her friend who lives not too far from Pat got a pup and he also did extremely well.. how are your dogs doing?

Susan is the online fundraising event over..did it turn out ok?

I love those pillows and towels.
Looks like you have enough projects to keep you busy for a few days.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That I do..

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I've been wondering about Susan's fundraiser event too! I hope it was a wonderfully successful event.

A friend & her husband just had a fund raiser. I went to school with both of them (Jack, from kindergarten thru graduation, Mary came in middle school). He has advancing dementia and now cancer. The fund raiser was to create the money for Jack to do deep sea fishing etc while he is well enough to enjoy it. He & the family made the decision to not treat the cancer and his time is limited. They raised the money with a Motorcycle ride, spaghetti dinner & silent auction.. He is just 66.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sunshine city here..was up at 6am, made a list of what I’m hoping to accomplish, i work so much better when i write tasks down..

How wonderful for your friends and kindness of those who donated..will mean a lot to both of them,

Sun is shining so good time to do outside chores…i see the coleus that is growing in leaps and bounds is fading somewhat, means it needs a larger pot..big sigh, where to heck do i put it..the one i put in laundry room isn’t doing so well, maybe i will kill this one.

I brought in as per my to do list 2 totes..sad a beautiful piece is broken

WARNING - short RANT. I still have not got my IRS refund. After going online & being told again "it is process", I called, listened to a recording tell me to go online and there is a high rate of phone calls & so they gave NO options, just disconnected the call! I continued to call until I got a recording, telling me the wait was about 9 minutes. When I reached a live person, .she told me "it is in process" and I told her that was "NOT good enough! It's been 6 months" she offered to send over the inquiry and it would be 30 days." I told her I expected after 30 days I would get the same "in process, only now the excuse would be the holidays!" She says because Ben has died, they can't send the check in both names, therefore the computer can't spit out the check, it has to be handled by representative.

I have a VERY LOW level of tolerance for frustration right now. Stuff that would have annoyed me, now sends me over the edge. I have a refund of over $4,000 and the IRS is sitting on it. My taxes had been withheld in 2020 based on a full year of employment and I retired early instead, reducing my income..

I will read, try to take a nap, and see if I wake up in a better mood.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Truly is frustrating Pat, you’ve good reason to rant..nothing like dealing with tax department.
Hope once you snuggle with Stanley and nap you will feel better.

got ALL on my list done except battery out of generator, got one side disconnected, struggled with the other for an hour, thought it was because i wasn’t strong enough but Sharon dropped in with Brian, he said he needed special wrench and will return on the weekend with tools and brawn.

Between the generator / taking down the stained glass window frames and storing under the shed and repotting the coleus in a heavy duty glazed pot Idid my shoulder in so hot bath and early to bed I go.. maybe reading and games on iPad for. awhile will relax me.

Lordy, tomorrow is already Friday..

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I dropped off Dana's quilt at the long arm. She said she was not really busy and could get to it soon. I scheduled a fresher course for the long arm rental and I am doing that Friday

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will be fun..enjoy

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone.
Betty, that is quite the list of to do's. No wonder you over did it. Hope your shoulder is better this morning.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, I know!! I definitely feel like a slacker compared to Betty!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, shoulder is ok, of course I found some “ todo’s “ that involve sitting today.
Overcast here, wind is up..got a few more things done outside, in a few days it should be close to 50 so I will put up winter panel on back shed, then i will say my shoulder is sore as it involves a lot of arms up but has to be done.

Sharon dropped in with Brian who brought tools, got that battery bolt off.. think i will go shopp8ng

Mom and aunt Muriel is here

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dropped of Bella for me to look after and off to do a tad of shopping for aunt Muriel..
Omg her legs , no more than 3-4” round are big sores, seeping liquids, so terribly sad, wouldn’t doubt infection right through her body.

Should get here soon, my schedule got scrapped a bit today but that is ok.

Trying to decide which day/evening i will go put up her Christmas tree, she sooo wants one up but says nobody willful it up so i shall do it..maybe
Sunday morning..

Bella is stirring and barks here and there, got happy she is left with me..
Ziggy is on coffee table watching Bella’s every move. Likely wondering when Bella will go home

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

"Go home interloper!!" If Bella could read Ziggy mind, she might be reluctant to come stay with you Betty!!
What is the cause of Aunt Muriel leg issues? Is she keeping them wrapped & getting the bandages changed? That really sounds worrisome. Marie says Phil's legs look the best they have in LONG time.
I took my refresher course on the long arm and came home with Carrie's quilt top quilted and I hope to get the binding on tonight. OH my .... I had only done a few quilts before the almost 2 years I had taken off (with Ben's death & Covid) and I about forgot everything. It's done, it ain't pretty!! I could not seem to keep a straight line when I wanted to, but at least I don't have pleats or puckers. I should experiment with using different thread color on bottom than top. At least them my oopsies won't show as badly on the back. (White thread on red fabric)

Hi Betty - Auction's not over yet. I think next time it should be 2 weeks, but now it's a MONTH. Ends Dec 1st. Got more donations after the start - siiiiiiigh. Lots of work involved - take pic, post on FB site, make/print bid sheets & take them to Silver Willows, then pick them up a couple of times a week to update the FB with new bids, and record the bids that come in on the FB site. Back & forth with the bids, being recorded in two places. Ah well, I took the job on, and it's for a good cause, so really happy to do it.

Not sure where Bob & I are headed. Not up to talking about it, sorry. He refuses to go to Marriage Counselling on the 16th.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sorry to hear that Susan, you will continue to be in my prayers.

Silent Auction done over long time is TIME consuming, bless you for your efforts and I hope your program makes LOTS of money to justify all that work.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear things aren't going well for you Susan.
Keeping you in our prayers.
Good luck with the auction.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Sorry to be missing for so long. I do read at least once a day, but, it's usually at work, from my phone, and my fat fingers don't type very well on a little screen!
Dogs are doing OK. Sissy is on a new chemo protocol, this is the third we've tried, but, so far, so good, this time. She's being very picky about what she'll eat, which means, I'm doing a lot of cooking for her. My one pup went to Florida after our National specialty. He's being shown for the first time this coming week. I wish I could be there, but will have to settle for a few photos.

I was thinking of Judy today, I have a friend that lives in the same town, and I drove by Judy's neighborhood on the way to my friend's house. I hope she is doing well.

I'm sorry things aren't going as smoothly as you had hoped for, Susan. Will you go to the counselling alone? Good luck with your auction. That sounds like so much work, and a lot of things to keep track of!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I hope Sissy's chemo continues to go well, at least she IS eating, (if you cook special for her!)
There was a rough spot on my oak desk and I managed to run a sliver under my finger nail. I think I have managed to get it all out but it probably will continue to be sore for a while!
My sister in law, Sharon, over-bought good compost mulch & brought me the leftovers. That motivated me to finally get the 50 pink tulips and 40 daffodils planted. so I could spread the mulch. Thank fully that motivated me because it was getting close to being too late to plant.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update on Sissy. Praying the treatment continue to work.

Don't forget to change your clocks this morning.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, it’s 7:26 and I’ve been up 2 hours..sitting having coffee and raisin bagel seeing fall colours brilliant in colour as daybreak promises a sunshine day!

Susan, my heart goes out to you..sometimes you can’t no matter how hard you try you just can’t fix broke..hugs. Hope as well your auction goes well, times are tough for all, shortage of $$..here is hoping it does well, so much work out into it.

Deb, heart goes out to you Re Sissy, must be difficult watching her..Sharon used to go as well to Florida shows, been a few years she hasn’t, darn Covid..she misses them..hope your entry does well. How is your daughter and family doing?

Imagine Lindakay you are busy at quilt shop?
Sharon is your sister back home? How are the furries!
Wonder when our Karen will be heading home, hope she enjoying her time with family.
Dianne, are you getting this beautiful weather?

Lordy, never stopped yesterday, had Evan and Mason came for class, Was Mason’s 1st day, thought as they were friends there would be fooling around, they barely spoke to each other..Evan got his bag done with the design he drew this week..Mason was hoping to start a Christmas stocking..he went home with one..little Ezra, 6 years old was a trooper, he virtually sat for 1 1/2 hours, his mother sat reading a book and he went home with a little table topper.

As i was leaving for town ambulance was next door, the owner of Roots Cafe had a heart attack, am hoping he is ok..too early for me to get updates.

Then off to shop for groceries and all supplies i need for the snowman hat class next Sunday, picked up Chinese and went to Aunt Muriel’s, had early supper with her and mom and put up her Xmas tree..she said when i come to take it down to take it home with me, can always use another tree right?? Told her i would if she agreed next Christmas if she is here she will let me put it up for her..deal made lol

There was no time yesterday seeing i got home at 8pm to unpack the 2 bins i had brought to back deck..this morning i decorated the mantle..was pleased that the beautiful glass tree Ann had given me years ago had broken, luckily Norms Garden Gallery had one all most the same..she might notice it’s not the one she gave me..

Did my list for today, before i get a lazy on best get a move on now that coffe break is over..

Wow! Those boys are doing great!! Of course, they have a great teacher!

I love your mantle, that is beautiful!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Deb..are you having same kind of day, mid 50‘S?

Took advantage of the morning, back deck enclosed and rest of garden art put away (other than rusted iron items.

Now that I’ve eaten left over Chinese for lunch think i need a nap

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

All the boys did an awesome job Betty.
I know Muriel was glad to have her tree up and decorated.
Yes, very busy at the quilt shop. I have 7 customer quilts waiting to be quilted. The owners of the shop, (2 sisters) each have 3 they want done. I have several of my own to do. I told the owners, she is to take in no more quilts till after Christmas. I can only do so much.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am here finally. Diagnosis came back on Cecil He has cancer of the small intestine and colon. I got the news on Tuesday and I can finally talk and type about it. No prognosis on time. I am no doing chemo. I have also told my children if I get cancer I am not doing chemo. He is now on steroids and a friend brought by some CBD oil. He started on both two days ago and is finally eating. We have gone from getting up 8 times a night to last night was only once. Today is the second day he has actually eaten food out of his bowl. My daughter purchased some level two baby food and i am giving him that with a syringe. He actually ate some scrambled egg this morning and has not wanted that in weeks.

Our weather has been spectacular. I have had two monarch flying around in my back garden for close to two weeks. My strawberry tree is in bloom and they love it. I have several hummers that are going to winter over here so one of my to do things today is to make new food for the feeders.

Betty you are so gracious to teach these young boys sewing. They will cherish the time you send with them for the rest of their lives. You are a very special individual.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry to hear Cecil has cancer. Sending our prayers.

Victoria Harbour, ON

My heart goes out to you Sharon, am sure you are devastated, guess it’s a matter of making Cecil as comfortable as possible.may you never have to make that decision Sharon Re treatment or no treatment for yourself. Getting up 8 times, you must be exhausted…hugs

The weather for you must be enjoyable, imagine having monarchs and hummers flitting about the gardens. Do you get strawberries at this time of year, perhaps not if your tree is in bloom.. trying to think if I’ve seen a strawberry tree?

I am sure those young ones are ina passing phase and will soon move on but at least they will be able to sew a straight line.

Lindakay, having so many quilts ahead of you at this time of year takes some of the joy out of quilting them i am sure, I have to get what I’ve committed done, not liking getting behind.

Neighbour is still in hospital, didn’t get to speak with his wife today..store closed til Tuesday so hoping by then i will have update.

Darlene and John are in the city..leaving Wednesday to go to Florida..they say people were camping out at the border waiting for today crossing.

I wasn’t able to reach Braedon, his birthday was today, hope Jeff gave him the happy birthday message.

Came to bed early and now I’m wide awake after having a short nap not believing it’s just turning seven

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh Sharon, I am so sorry. At least now you know and it does sound like Cecil is more comfortable currently with the help of meds. Both of you getting some sleep has to be a help.

LindaK, 13 plus your own will keep you hopping, that is for sure. I am grateful I beat the rush with the long arm person I took Kevin's quilt to.

My Uncle died this morning, he was 104, the last of my mom's brothers & sisters & their spouses. He had been living with his son in AZ. . He had been using a walker daily and was still very cognitively alert. He took a fall on Thursday, started having pain on Friday and went the hospital, they did x-rays. They found a mass in his stomach and 2 cracked vertebrae. His end was swift and I am grateful for his sake. He was a gentle man with a sharp sense of humor, a good man, he will be missed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about your Uncle Pat. Sending our condolences and prayers.
He lived a long life.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, think we are having another sunshine day, looking outside, daybreak is always so peaceful.

My condolences Pat, always difficult to lose the last of aunts/uncles..will you travel to his funeral? Always seems possible here, not many of us aren’t within 3-4 hr drive from each other.

How did Cecil spend his night Sharon?

Ned to get some lg metal cans spray painted today, measly drying weather..wish pizza palace was open so i could collect more cans and get them all sprayed.

Coffee break over, best i get a move on

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm so sorry to hear Cecil's diagnosis, Sharon. I'm glad he's responding well to the CBD. Years ago I had a dog with thyroid cancer. She was on CBD oil and turmeric and a mushroom supplement from my holistic vet. She did well for quite a while on those. Prayers for him, and you.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

My cousin says he will organize a service for his father during the spring, in better weather. He and my uncle were in AZ, most of the rest of us are within 5 hours of each other across the state of Washington & northern Oregon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

So many in this region have opted for later gatherings..Covid kind of made that the way to go. June called me this afternoon, nothing more they can do for hubby except make him comfy, she doesn’t think it will be long before he passes

Not sure I ever heard of a Holistic Vet in the area Deb, will go in search of one.

I just put CBD on arm, hip, took some CBD oil, Tylenol 3 and climbed into bed

Will look for ideas for Saturday’s sewing class, those little gents want to make & take so that makes it harder to find

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Well... maybe the guys will opt for some projects that take 2 or more sessions just so they can do some more awesome things! How long is their sewing session? I will keep my eyes open for short-time projects.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Back home, had a wonderful time and got to hug everyone. Roland, newest great, is just as sweet as can be. A real cuddler.
2 A.M. so heading to bed.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

So good to see you back safe & sound. Glad to hear you had such an enjoyable visit.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

If anyone is interested, the group that advertised the Tshirt quilts is running a special for 20% off & still can have them done by Christmas! NO, I have not done it so I can not vouch for the company or product. Just wanted to share the info in case you or someone you knew was thinking of having them create one for you! I'll send the link if you are interested or you can find it on facebook. I don't want my post to be mistaken for spam.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sharon - hope Cecil is doing better.
Pat - my condolences to you & the rest of your uncle's family.

Things are worse here. On Oct 29th, wee hours of the morning, Bob tried to choke me, and then said I deserved it "bit**". I tried to hold it all in, but he's been up & down like a yo-yo. At one time he's thoughtful & a delight to be around, then he's sullen & secretive. I found out that the 2 of them have been communicating though the online game he showed her how to play when he was there. This morning after I gave him a letter saying that this had to stop, it's breaking both of us, with no trust in the house, but a lot of anger, and fear, he told me that I brought this upon myself, always nattering about it, then went out & sat in his car, I phoned 911 and reported him. He came into the house after I made my call, and that's where the police came to arrest him. He said he didn't know where he could go, and the police asked if I had a place I could go and he could stay here. I told them NO. They said it was my right, as I am the victim, but they had to ask. Later that night they came by to see if I would allow him to come into the house & pick up some things. I told them no, that I would get his stuff together. I don't want him in the house. He got mad when I wouldn't let him have his laptop so he could play the game. The police officer told him "you're a 71 yo big man, and I won't put up with you getting mad over a game.". I told the officer, he wants to play the game so he can keep in touch with Naomi. He said it's my right not to do so. He'll email her or go onto FB anyway. BUT, even though his computers are password protected, the games are accessible to me on MY computer, and so is his FB. I gave the officer Bob's password book, with the game passwords torn out & I kept them. I also changed the majority of the chequing account funds to an extra account I created so Bob doesn't have access to the funds. I left $39 in it. His account he created with another bank always seems to be empty. I can't understand why, but his new bank dings him for everything he does in it - $ for withdrawals, $ transfers, etc. A friend of mine said that she pays NO fees, because she's a senior. Same age as Bob.
The police released him because he said he won't contact me, and He told them he has $$ in his pocket & will get a hotel room. He only has $140 in his bank account. Ah well, my $$ is safe. I'm going to see the counsellor on the 16th. Told her about the situation, and she's willing to see me on my own.
I've told my daughter. my friend 10 miles away, and my friend Susan in GA. Otherwise I'm not telling anyone in town, although they'll see his car's gone, and likely saw the police car in the driveway. It'll be all over town before too long. If asked, I'm just going to say it's between Bob & I. There's no need for me to feed the hungry mob.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm so sorry you're going through this Susan.
