Colours are lovely Lindakay..I’ve got about 4 in different Christmas fabric blocks done same , I’m hoping to get them included in a throw with blocks left from our swaps…what will you make with them, throw??? You really are enjoying your group.

Well, just after posting about the blackbirds and getting bad news got a call about a death..such a long story…..brought back some terrible memories.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well definitely a different trip this time. We ended up going out to daughters to take her son's generator. She had one going that gave them a few lights in the kitchen part of the house. Basement was rapidly filling so second generator was hooked up to drain that. What hadn't been done for the wedding had gotten behind with no power and no water. We were able to lend a hand and got a bit more done. Granddaughter is better at planning than actually doing. We ended up stand in the anteroom of the hall frantically making bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages. Daughter said MOM you need one and I just told her not this time. Ceremony was wonderful, reception was great fun. After wards my daughters car keys were missing so we had to leave all the decorations and stuff at the hall. They said no problem we could get the next day. When we got to the house, the power was back on.
Everything was held at a hotel and several had spent the night as they were 60 miles from home. Worked great as we had a lot of help loading up the next day.

This dear friends is why I bought every one of my granddaughters pearls. An inch at a time starting when they were born.

Betty, sorry to hear about the death. Sending prayers.
Karen, I saw the wedding on Facebook. It was awesome. Glad the lights were back on.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Granddaughter was doing the live feed for me as I was at entry sending everyone in at the proper time....Me in the blue suit slipping in just before the bride. LOL

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, I am sorry to hear you have lost another loved one, friend or family, it's a loss.

Karen, I would have gone NUTS if the flowers were not done until then!! LOL... I don't work with fresh flowers because of the pressure! I like to work in silk & do it in advance, that also makes it possible to keep the costs down.

I am so grateful I live in an area that doesn't flood basements!

We've had a bit of a set back. Sunny's new owner contacted Adam, he is concerned he may be called up and wants to return Sunny. I don't know yet what Adam is going to do. All the pups have had 1st Parvo shots but are not complete (they are ON schedule, but it's series of 3 shots) Accepting the pup back, if he has been exposed, puts the remaining pups at risk.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat, hers were all silk flowers and she had them in plenty of time. Problem ...she wanted to do it all her self and just kept putting it off. I'm sure what we ended up with was not what she had in mind, but oh well. It got done after a fashion.
So the quilting saying goes....Done is better than perfect.

Sorry to hear that you fell Betty. Please take care. Praying you are not sore tomorrow.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh Betty, I hope tomorrow is not as painful as you currently fear!!

Karen, Oh well. When others are called upon to take up the slack at the last minute, ya get what ya get!

I hope everything is going OK for you LindaK. Your quilt block was sure pretty! I have not tried that pattern yet.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thank you Pat. I have a bunch more cut out and ready to sew together. It will be about queen size when done. Even hubby said he liked it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You. Know. It’s spectacular when hubby approves

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

It is a totally striking block. Is it hard to do? I am still to wrapped up dolls to start something new in quilting.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

ONE more doll & wardrobe done & ready for Marie to bag and put with the rest. I have glitter and sequins EVERYWHERE.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

The blocks are easy to do. We used the accu quilt cutter to cut the pieces.
Beautiful outfits for the dolls Pat.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

thank you. I guess one of these days I should at least LOOK at the accu quilt cutter and see if it's something I would benefit from. I think I have always been kind of put off by what I see as the "waste", because of the way it is needs the fabric presented. I should at least look into it more, so I "know" rather than assume. .

Victoria Harbour, ON

It is a lovely block, can’t wait to see end product..

Pat i have accuquilt cutter and a cupboard filled with dies, there are so many cut with blocks that give same results that rarely do i use it..i do use it though for ragging flannel quilts..but that is my pinion ONLY..

There are many shops that have availability of rental which to me is the option.

Pat your dolls are stunning, you have the patience of a saint to put so many hours into giving them new life…some young person will be beyond pleased.

Beautiful fall day, had a mishap with raccoon (not sure if squirrels claw through screening) anyway not how i wanted to start my day.
Glad i did not give away the Bessel rug cleaner, was able to clean the rug and i think the die i put in the water for flowers will not stain the rug uggg

Noon hour, must get creative, have a frame someone gave me, might as well make it into a piece to hang

Also want to mark out outer design on the wedding quilt.

Another hot and humid day here. Weather Liars say we will have the same for the next few days.

I'll apologize in advance in case I miss it when I proof read - the 'n' key has a mind of its own and is refusing to act when I hit that key.

Hope everyone is well and staying cool.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Those little monsters really left you a mess!!! I worry about Cammie, A&A's cat. She has proven to be UNtrustworthy in the house and is outside cat only now The cat food will likely draw wildlife but I don't know what other option we have.

I enjoy sewing the doll clothes but I do NOT enjoy when Marie brings home a doll that is not one of the standard sizes we sew for. She is under warning of NO MORE of those or she is sewing alone! Since she is NOT the one who does most of the sewing, I think I got thru to her this time. My best guess is that we do the dolls this year & next, and then either scale back or stop. I had hoped to scale back before now but .... Marie kept buying dolls!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat I love my Accuquilt. It can be done so there is very little waste. Important to follow the grain lines. Biggest benefit is the cuts are perfect so blocks go together better. There are uses machines for sale, usually because people upgraded. Mine is the electric. I prefer because it is the biggest of the GO machines. There is a larger one with it's own set of dies but they were too large and heavy for me to handle. There are a few sites for them on FB including selling sites.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

If Marie ever gets into quilting, I can REALLY see her doing this. Whatever she does, she does BIG!!

Morning.all week we will be in the feel like 100f, must start regular garden lawn watering, already drying everything out.

Felt well enough to to do a mile walk this morning (inside) so am hoping if i can get 4-5 miles in..

Want to finish the carry all bag I’m doing for some of you on another thread, almost there…have the wedding quilt ready to mark border design, finished a shopping bag this morning so as long as i do not sit for too long i should get much done, might even pick up Chinese food for supper. Linda might come and work on a project for her daughter tomorrow, might even set up outside under the trees as roots is having gospel music this week from 1-4, will be nice.

Dianne am sure you are getting same weather as i am, keep calling for rain but misses us.

Sharon, how is the vacation going?

What are up you all up to?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Waiting for a plumber today about 11. This is the 3rd time in about a month that I have had a clogged sink. ALL 3 times have been after a certain guest has been at my home. I am not a happy camper and this will be expensive little senseless expense. We are going to have a chat. If it happens again, after she has been here, she can expect to work the expense off! I think she is putting stuff down the sink that should not go!!! Like grease, leftover food, we do NOT have a garbage disposal and this just infuriates me, at 17 she should know better.

Adam spent a hours on Wednesday taking apart pipes, using chemicals and buying a better "snake" and could not fix the issue. When I made the calls yesterday, today was the earliest I could get a plumber.

A puppy is scheduled to leave today and we have ONE more, but several people interested. I am hoping by Saturday to have them all gone & to be able to start helping my grandson to get his bedroom clean & set up for him. Maybe then my DIL will come out of hiding. Andrea has complained bitterly about the smell of puppies and the cedar chips etc so has remained in the master bedroom for weeks with the bedroom door closed. She has an MD referral for counseling and meds and it can't come soon enough.

Verona, ON

Exactly the same weather here Betty. Even the TH are coming for a walk half heartedly. Yesterday I added an extra walk - both Chaos and I need to lose weight. Chaos came down the lane to where a gate is and proceeded to lay down in the shade. Kai and I walked the rest of the circuit. When Kai and I came back there was Chaos stretched out waiting for us. We get out as soon as the sun starts to rise so I can get 2 walks in before 8:30 am

Oh Pat I don't envy you right now. Big learning curve for some of your house mates.

Went to visit my cleaning lady - boy she is really banged up. I don't expect her back until October. She wants to come back sooner but I told her to listen to her doctors. She thinks she will start back with me and another house on the lane for starters. It was good to see her and meet her 2 new kittens.

Stay safe and cool.

Deb how are your dogs doing in this heat ?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My tummy has been giving me fits. Feels like it is on fire. I went to urgent care, and found out I have a cute pancreatic. No doctors here for treatment, so I will drive 3 hours in the morning to methodist hospital and get more testing done. Possibly surgery. Not for sure yet.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

After holding the puppy 3 days, the guy who was supposed to show up today, did not, did not return calls etc. Thankfully we have an eager back-up buyer for that pup. Still hoping all pups will be gone by Saturday evening... ever the optimist! LOL

Spent another day with Marie working on dolls. Then sat down and used graph paper to show her a few ideas for the shower curtain she wants to make.

#1 Pic is of the DONE dolls, with clothes in their bags. #2 on the bed ready to start, #3, 2 more boxes in the closet to do! (This is why we work on these all year around!! LOL)

Hi all - vacation was 3 days, but another 5 coming up. Aug 29 to Sept 5. Same place - Keiver's Lake, AB. We're getting all the plumbing fixed in our old 1975 Winnebago Brave. We've owned it for 10 years and never had plumbing.

Betty - sorry that you fell. Are you still stiff & sore? Hope you get cooler weather soon.
Pat - too bad about the "no show/sale" but happy that you have a back up buyer.
Linda - a "cute" pancreatic? Sounds serious. Hope you get quick answers and are ale to get healed quickly..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That's a lot of dolls Pat. Don't know how you sew those tiny outfits.
Hey Susan. Glad you popped in. Sounds like things are going well for you.

Morn8mg, a feel like 102f with thunderstorms this afternoon..

Got my grass cut, as up at 7 doing it, am sure neighbours who sleep in didnt appreciate it, rarely do i cut that early but was trying to beat the heat.

Linda is on her way, she picked up 2 -4’ planks, wants to do outdoor fall and winter projects on them..thinking of findings old towels, sheet and having her paint here on front deck until the heat of the day gets us..she decided to fo this thursday, this morning she calls for supplies, so much you can’t buy so she is disappointed but think i have enough to make do

I’m in awe Pat, i JUST know I’d never be able to take on your project

Welcome home susan

Betty's weather is here too. Wow it is a scorcher out there. I am pretty sure M has this hotter than Hades weather too.

We walked right after sunrise and it was already 79*. The TH and I will go out just before dusk and get a walk in. I don't want to be out after dusk because of the bear. There are very few berries this year so the bears are hungry and searching for food.

Concerned about Chaos as he is very lethargic. I'm thinking it might be the heat as he doesn't want to walk far when we go out but he is not too interested in eating either. I did bring him home a rawhide bone and after ignoring it for an hour decided he would like it. I think Kai coming after it convinced Chaos to start on it.

Glad you and Bob had a good time Susan. How are the bugs ? The deer flies are terrible here.

Went to get milk at Foodland and it was packed. I overheard a few groups talking about how hot it was at the camp grounds and had come into the store just to get cool. The cashiers have to wear sweaters as it is so cold by the tills.

Last pup gone Pat ?

Betty how did that woman get across the border ? I thought the USA extended the border ban for several more days. That's a long way to come for a pup. Did she fly or drive ? I have an offer of a pup from Texas and Troy offered to fly it up. He just got his pilot's licence and his good friend an experienced pilot with his own plane would like to deliver the pup and fish for a few days before going back. They are welcome to come and not so sure about the pup though.

LK how are you making out ? Sure hope you feel better soon.

Betty how are you feeling after your fall ? Turns out my cleaning lady didn't fall she didn't want me to worry about her so told me she fell. We've become friends over the years she has cleaned here. She is lucky to be alive. She thinks she must have been sleepwalking. She opened the sliding door in her bedroom and fell 2 stories. There was no deck there. When she got to the hospital she had a hard time convincing the staff she did NOT try and commit suicide. Guess there has been a real upswing in attempted suicides coming through the ER doors.

~~~~ to everyone.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Omg Dianne, that is quite a fall, she is lucky to be alive..she will have to put a piece of wood across so it cannot open, next time she may not be so lucky.
Think all the animals are having trouble in this weather, ziggy didn’t want out all day…so humid, they had music next door today, usually i go sit under the pines but wait with Linda on front deck while she was, painting her project, then Sharon and Debbie came for a few hours…Debbie said there was no trouble getting over..she flew i think she said from Victoria B.C. And then on to Toronto..Sharon picked her up, she goes back with pup on Tuesday.
How old is Chaos? Sharon had a cry while here for 2 reasons..the neighbour across the street came and gave her hell Re dogs barking, she posted on their hub and everyone said little barking going on, lots of posting saying they didn’t think there was a lot of barking at all but she has taken it to heart, then her vet told her to start preparing for inuk’s death..sad, now she says she will move..grrr hope she calms down
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)
So sad for Sharon, never easy knowing that you will lose a pet but Inuk is getting up there in years and he has been such a champion. She has LOTS of pups from him over the years.
The the back up buyer came today, nice family including 2 kids & other dogs at home. They bought Emily, that leaves just Max and Adam has a buyer now for him. Poor Max is in there crying and yepping he is so lonely. I don't know if Max's buyer & Adam have set a time for tomorrow. Adam had to work today from 4 to at least midnight.
Why would they have a sliding door that opens into nothing??? I had a friend who was building a house as they could afford it. For quite a while there was a sliding door and no deck. They called it the "UNwelcome door!" They have a HUGE wrap around deck now, years later.
Linda, has the pancreas eased up? How are you feeling?
Betty, your soreness easing up? I think the heat is getting to ALL of us!
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
We have a door and balcony outside our room. We never use it as i do not think it is safe. It's almost impossible to open the door and we keep it locked. The plan is to just put a large window there and take the balcony down....As soon as we can get a proper size window. Grandson works for Pella and so far our doors have not cost us. So far we have replaced three sliders.
Tomorrow early we are off to the ocean, OBX is calling.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Omg Karen, how exciting is that, going to the ocean, how long of a drive and how long will you be away?..
Lucky you Re the replacement of windows/doors from Pele..my big window in living room needs to be replaced, was thinking a sliding door and extend the deck a bit..i will see…I’ve already watered outside, not my day but gardens so need it..
Sharon, are you back?
Sharon, are the dogs in shows or are the shows only in fall in your area?
Lindakay, how are you feeling, we’re you able to get dates for docs and tests??
Pat, know where every bone in my body is, humidity nearing woo so am sure that is the cause and of course my exercising is aggravating a few of them…house will feel quiet with all those puppies gone.
Will be an inside day for sure unless there is a breeze. Few projects i can work on to keep me busy and of course a week away from seeing great grandson so each day i wait in excitement.
Enjoy your day and hope it’s a cool one..
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)
Adam does not get home until about 1 AM and then has work on Sunday at 11. The buyer comes at 10AM this morning and the LAST puppy will be gone. Adam will be so happy on so many levels. Max has been crying or barking since EARLY this morning.
northeast, IL(Zone 5a)
Sorry, I haven't posted in a while, there has been so much going on. The pups are doing good, we've worked a little with walking on a leash. We still need a lot more work, but, there is hope! Their grandma, my Sissy, was diagnosed with lymphoma. I was told chemo, or, she would have a 6-8 week life expectancy. We started chemo, and the first week went well, the second week really messed with her white cell count. It's a once a week protocol, the CHOP protocol, which he said is the same as used in people with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. When we went in last Thursday, they did bloodwork and her white cell count was really low, and she had a slight fever. They gave her antibiotics IV, and sent her home with tablets. She's still acting normal, and eating well, so keeping my fingers crossed that her bloodwork is back to normal this coming week so we can continue the chemo.
We've been having hot humid weather, today is a bit of a break, but back in the mid 90's starting again tomorrow.
I am so sorry to hear about the cancer with your dog & pray she responds well to treatment.
Last puppy, out the door. Later today we will clean and disassemble the whelping box and start recleaning and reclaiming the bedroom for the grandson. Need to clean from top to bottom, including wash walls. The puppies would squeeze between the door and the wall and it's amazing the dirt they leave on the wall!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Deb, they are so regal looking..sorry to hear about Sissy, heartbreaking, saw Sharon crying yesterday re Inuk so know how difficult it is on you..here is hoping these procedures work, hugs, they are just so beautiful..
Pat, another load off your shoulders, you will miss them though.
Wish Lindakay would post so we know she is ok..worry about her..
Had quite the day, this morning i traced lettering on Linda’s sign, wording Fall and Welcome then out i went..Lordy it is hot and humid but that did not stop me from getting a neighbour to start the big gas weeder and get Jammie’s side of the yard cut down, looked like H>¥£l, then started to rake acorns, 5 piles and knew shoulders were telling me enough..Marie came over to sit, she and Dr.Ho lol for an hour and I now have corn on the cob cooking for supper, easy meal and while i wait I’m base coating lettering for Linda and have a scrap quilting magazine by my side…figure at 6 I will go out and water plants,, water 3 times a day and still hanging their head needing drinks.
Is it this hot all over?
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
I am here. Had to go to ER in San Antonio.
It was so packed. I was placed in a bed in the hallway. 5 hours later after more testing, I was told I to have acute pancreatitus, but no infection. Was told to get some prilosec tablets, and take one first thing in the morning 30 minutes before eating. I wish I would have known about that 2 weeks ago. That little pill is amazing.
I am on a liquid diet for 2 weeks. I can eat bland things like toast and jello. Absolutely no fried, greasy or spicy food. No milk products.
I have to call a specialist Monday and make an appointment. Need to have a scope done, so they can look at it, and see what's going on.
I got home this morning, sat in the recliner and napped for a few hours. Need to go shopping for chicken and beef broth, and some jello.
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)
Good to hear that there is no infection Linda. Bland food isn't a lot of fun but I know you will do fine. A co-worker of mine got pancreatitis a few times. It responded well to treatment.
Marie & I head out tomorrow morning. Be back Wednesday. I am bringing everything (I HOPE!) to work on my DIL's quilt. At least I hope I got everything! If not, there is the quilt store literally next door! LOL
