Waiting for Betty's rain to reach me. Right now it is sunny. 92% humidity. Yep the AC is staying on.

Karen I am glad you got to see your new doctor in person. I am also happy you stuck up for yourself re meds. You know your body best.

Ended up ordering bear spray from Amazon. That will get here faster than waiting for the hardware store to get it in .For now I have an old cow bell that I will take with me.

Time for a walk before it gets too hot.

Stay safe and well.

Betty, I just don't have much appetite any more. When I do eat, I feel full quickly so only eat about half of normal. If we have BLTs, I can only eat a half, or any sandwich for that matter. I was surprised at A1C too as I have not been good about avoiding sweets and was worried it would be high.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

We're heading out now - take care, and I'll see you on Friday the 13th lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening, busy day, girls were here, then i drove to Orillia for generator part, then to Barrie for ruler quilting foot, was just about to nap and got weather warning..Lordy, get tired of taking precautions Re severe weather…did my mile exercise, ate, now on my way to unplug all the machines downstairs.. i will take a bath and who knows might knit a bit..there went my Tuesday.

Dianne i am hoping you don’t get this weather your way, not just rain but severe storms. I heard there were a few bears the other side of town, never think of bears while outside but yes, walking those trails by yourself it’s a must you have something to keep them away.

Well Karen, whatever you are doing it’s working..now will the next event be in Michigan?

Susan, enjoy your time away..after the stress of past11/2 year you deserve to just mellow out.

Deb, Sharon’s dogs will be leaving this week.. bittersweet, I’m sure you get so attached then have to let them go..how are yours doing?

Pat, how is Stanley doing with the pups?
Off to run the tub, not so sure the part of exercise isn’t aggravating my shoulders, must remember to skip those..

Enjoy the evening.

Yes Betty, youngest granddaughter getting married this Saturday. Had hoped to stay a bit longer but hubby has appointment on Tues. Gastro tried to get me in there on Mon. But I said no way change the date.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We have had a busy week. Cecil is still having problems with diarrhea. But it is getting more the consistency of chocolate pudding not water so we are headed in the right direction. I have invested in some probiotics, grain free kibble and dog food that is only chicken and rice. No treats. He has lots of energy and is willingly eating his breakfast and has not thrown up so we are making progress.

We had lots of rain so my front garden looks like a jungle. Suppose to be cloudy tomorrow so I will try to thin out some of the growth. Last week my garden helper and I tried to work in the garden but it was just too hot and no clouds. We did some chores in the house. I had 3 light bulbs burn out in my walk in closet. Not bad for 21 years. It is a large walk in clost and has at least 10 lights. Each light bulb was $14. Specialty light fixture that takes special light bulb. At least they still make the bulb.

Betty, that storm looks bad. Before you know it you will knee high in snow. I love your back area that your neighbors are using and planting.

Karen, Vern got fired by two doctors because he would not do what they ask him to do. But he was just being stupid. You know your body. He was just looking for the magic pill and it does not exist. Granddaughter's weddings are wonderful and no way are you going to miss that. Have a wonderful and safe time.

Diane, so pleased your neighbors are going to be able to come visit. Things are so weird with this Covid thing. I hve had the vaccine and I have a mask with me at all times. You never know who wants you to wear a mask or not. In large groups I do. I have tried to tell my daughter not to fight the system and stay within the lines. She is rebelling and I keep telling her she is wasting her breath. Poor kids went back to school here, starting today, wearing masks. I cannot not wear one very long, so I limit how long I am gone from home. And I do not wear it in my car if I am by myself. I see people all the time, in their car alone, and wearing a mask.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I sent that because I did not want to lose it.

I leave next week for Portland, Oregon. My youngest brother is driving to Portland from Reno, so he is going to pick us up at the airport. That is a relief. Was concerned that my sister, 75 and myself, 79 relying on Uber to get us from Portland to Gresham and get their alive. My garden helper is going to stay at my home to take care of the animals and garden. Four days in this heat would destroy everything if someone didn't know what they were doing.

Take care and everyone, and "Be Happy".

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sharon, have a wonderful trip.
I argue a lot with my doctors if I feel strongly that something is wrong for me. I am a reasonable person. If I feel what they want has merit I will agree. I have not had the vaccine, I have had Covid. Now CDC is calling for a third shot. I feel it is going to become an annual thing like the flu shots. I used to get them every year and every year I got the flu. I was told...well it doesn't cover every variation. I haven't gotten the flu shot in 4 years and I have not had the flu in 4 years. I did get the pneumonia shots as I seemed to get pneumonia too often. I don't get it any more. My immune system is compromised. I'm not allowed to get the shingles vaccine. I have had shingles once so far and it was horrible. It lasted for 4 months. That's one I would take if I was allowed.
Heading out in the morning for granddaughters wedding and looking for lots of hugs and kisses.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone.
I have been home for a few days. Think I had food poisoning. Running fever, and constantly vomiting. Took a covid test, and waiting on results.

Betty, your angel trumpets is beautiful.

Dianne. Please be careful on your walks with a bear in the area. Especially with your dogs. The dogs will automatically go into protection mode. Don't want to see them or you hurt. Are you allowed to carry a gun with you?

Susan, enjoy your trip.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

LindaK, food poisoning is NO fun!! So sorry you are going thru that and hope your Covid test comes back negative.

Verona, ON

Another hot humid day out there. At least today there is a breeze. There is a Heat Warning for the province lasting 3 days.

LK I am licenced to carry and have on occasion taken either the shotgun or pistol with me. I am more worried about meeting up with a fisher. They are very brazen and attack rather than run.

Karen I get such delight out of reading your families' activities. Hope we get to see a picture of the bride and groom.

Betty I hope you are laying low today in this heat. I went out with great intentions of cutting my so called lawn but decided I will go out as soon as the sun comes up in the morning. I already had a headache and doing that would have just ratchet the pain level.

Went to Foodland to get salad fixings and the store was packed. I think now people can get to their cottages they are doing the beginning of the season shop.

My neighbour from NY state just emailed me to say that Vince passed away on Monday night so their trek north will be delayed. Vince built his cottage in 1968 so was the second cottage on this side of the lake.

Deb how are you and the dogs managing in this heat ?

Sharon's pups are gorgeous. I used to have Samoyeds so am partial to an all white dog.

Stay safe, well and keep cool.

The TH are each spread eagle on a register having the cool air hit their belly.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Another hot day in Las Vegas. was suppose to have rain in the mountains and clouds down here. Neither. So I did not venture out into the garden.

Karen, have a wonderful trip to your granddaughter's wedding. And be safe.

My health is so uncomplicated my Dr. said she could take care of me on line. I only go every 6 months to get my prescriptions refilled. I find that to be a blessing. Strong Viking heritage. Dr. told me I was built like Tilda the Hun. Also told me I was not English but Welsh.

Cecil is holding his own. Eating better and no throwing up. Still has diarrhea.

Dianne, that was sad to hear your neighbor died right before he was suppose to come. Our temps are winding down. Soon September will be here. September is beautiful in the desert.

Pat, what have you been up to?

Linda, you usually do not have a fever with food poisoning.

So where is our Betty.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty posted over on the sewing thread, I am working on my sewing room. I have thoroughly trashed it, with umpteen things everywhere while I sort and I reorganize it all. I will not finish tonight and I am out of town tomorrow. Oh well...

Sorry to hear that Cecil is still dealing with diarrhea! Poor guy.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Uneventful trip up. There were severe storms up here while we were traveling. My daughter lost power which also means no water until they get a generator hooked up. Because they are rural, power not expected to be restored until Sat. We came to son's house for tonight because she did not need us underfoot tonight. Bad timing for her. Hoping power is back on sooner.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Covids test was negative. Not for sure what I had, but I woke up yesterday with thrush, so I am being treated for that. Feeling better this morning.

Karen, glad you made the trip safely. Praying power and water is restored quickly

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

LindaK, have you had a bout of antibiotics? Thrush can frequently follow that course of meds. I am happy to hear you are feeling better.
Bummer about the power Karen! Glad you had alternatives for lodging!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Still power outs and flooding. More rain expected today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, beautiful sunset,

I am so sure i posted this morn8mg as well as the sewing threat, another 8n cyber space..

not sure where the day went, Marie seems to think i need to sit out and relax..i was vacuuming back and front deck, she heard the vacuum so rest i did.,but i did do that excessive a mile 4 times, know it’s not a lot but is for me.. the calories i lost I’m sure i ate more than lost lol

Oh Karen, that must be quite a large area with no power, sure hope it won’t affect the wedding plans, would be so disappointing.

I’d did sew for 3-4 hours, trying to get the baby quilt done for the weekend..

Too funny, as I’m typing i can feel my head get heavier and heavier.

Lindakay, glad your test was negative and you are feeling better..i do not know what thrush is, will have to research..did doctor give you meds for a few days? Not,food, poisoning? Watch you say that is what thrush is 😜

Poor Cecil Sharon, a worry isn’t it..
Thought i was in Nevada and Texas today, humidity and heat so high..
I was fairly healthy as well Sharon, seems to creep up and then each day is a challenge..i drank a bottle of water today imagine me thinking that is a lot.

Dianne, am taking it easy, at least outside I’m behaving, my grass so needs cutting, will be a weekend job.

Is Vince the neighbour you were preparing for Dianne? How very tragic…was it sudden or had he been feeling unwell..who says dogs are dumb, TH sure knows what is best to cool off..if your weather is like mine it’s too darn hot for you to sit in your new screened in porch…
Sharon had one dog picked up this morning, am sure the pups will miss her as will Sharon

Susan should be getting nice weather..they need to relax..

My niece asked me if I’d go into the office tomorrow to look over some filed..will be a busy day, then weekend time! Hurrah, what difference weekend from week day makes is beyond me lol

Thrush is a fungal /yeast infection in the mouth & very uncomfortable. People who are susceptible to it frequently get it after a round of antibiotics.

Sunny, the only yellow in the group is the family favorite and is not yet spoken for. Several of the other pups will leave Sunday for their new homes. There is only 1 chocolate male pup and he is spoken for, I call him DEMON, he is such a bully and plays too rough!!! family calls him Damon. "Demon" hardly sounds like a good enticement for sale!! LOL It will be a relief to get them all gone but sad too. I have become especially attached to Sunny.

I drove to Yakima (2 hours away) to bring lunch to my Sis-in law, Ben's sister. She is finding it more and more difficult to walk and has pretty much become housebound. She has applied for a scooter & will see if the purchase is approved. Her apartment is already ADA so it will not require a lot of changes.

Good morning all, weather is heavy and if you believe the weather reports no rain today just overcast.
Thanks for explaining what thrush is Pat, thank goodness I’ve not had it although I’ve had it in other parts of my body, not fun..

Maybe oat, you should keep Sunny.

Off to quilt a bit then head for Midland at 11, must remember to take my gas can with me or i will not get to cut grass..still no news as to when i might get my rider back..

Will spend time tonight on making a list for mom’s 90th birthday,-September 18th..she spoke to my siblings yesterday and said i invited her for her birthday, a few hints it might be a party…oh well

Friday 13th, what do you all have planned today?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My mother had thrush once in the hospital. They were giving her breathing treatments and just let the apparatus sit out on her bedside table using it over an over. It should have been put in a bag or the mouthpiece changed or at least wiped each time.
Betty the wedding venue is fine no power problems, The weather is fine too no more rain.
I found and bought a vintage milk shake maker, green just like at the old time soda fountains. I got it for Grandson Rory because he loves ice cream more than anything. He is always ready to do anything for us any time. We brought it up but haven't seen him yet to give it to him. I'm happy to say we gave it a good test run last night and it made many malts perfectly.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh Karen!! That sounds delicious!!

If I would say "Yes", my son would likely keep Sunny in a heart beat. I just can't handle the thought of another dog here.

I honestly do NOT know what happened last night. I heard yelping, barking, crying & ran into the area. The gate was down, letting the puppies out of their room, the big dogs were chasing puppies & the puppies were trying to get away and really screaming! It took me forever to get the big dogs pushed back, the gate up and then barricade the big dogs out of the hall. For a while I had no idea if there were injuries and it was complete chaos. When I got things a little more settled down, I called son & told him that he needed to come back NOW!! They were all at the fair & rodeo, an hour away & it was 11.00PM.

I spent the next hour & half either standing in the hall to keep all dogs separated, or sitting on the toilet (the only place to sit!!) If I was out of sight, eventually Thaddaeus would start barking again. I could not even put the big dogs outside to separate them. I did not have collars or leashes, & they were NOT listening to voice commands last night. I don't know that with collar & leash I could I have convinced them to go outside. Adam just lost his "babysitter". I won't go thru another night like that.

Verona, ON

Oh Pat you should not be expected to monitor the dog/puppy situation. They are your son's responsibility NOT yours. If he wants to keep living with you and keep his dogs he needs to step up. It must have been very frightening and overwhelming for you. I am so sorry you had to go through all that drama. Poor Stanley !! Stick to your guns Pat !!

Oh Karen my mouth is watering at the mention of milkshakes. What a find and a great gift for Rory.

It's still in the high 80's today but there is a breeze. Rain in the forecast for beginning of next week.

LK how are you feeling today ?

Hope I can find a farmers' market tomorrow. I have to go to another village to get the TH's supplies and there are usually a couple of farm stands. I buy the TH's food and treats from a mon and pop farm and pet store in a village about 30km away in Sydenham..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Time to mow the lawn, just back in from town and it’s hot out there but needs to be done but lunch first.,drats , opened a can of tuna for Ziggy has he has taken a liking to it.

Thank God Karen that the wedding can go on without mishap…i remember those shakers, great find.i loved when travelling I75 and stopped at those large antique warehouses…am sure Rory will have a smile from ear to ear.

Oh my Pat, you could have gotten mixed up in their playfulness and could have ended up badly hurt. Ohhh what did your son say when you called him home from the fair?

Same weather here Dianne..we have Elmvale Farmers Market..went under but i hear now it has reopened..in old days they auctioned animals, farmers brought all their wares, bet was well9ver 50 vendors..

Hope you fine yours so you can go to a local one..nice to support area vendors.

Best i get to my duties

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone. I have not been on anti biotics, until I developed thrush. Don't know what caused it. I am feeling much better today.
Pat, so hard to get rid of a puppy you love, but know you can't keep. Good luck.
Karen, glad you have power again. Have a malt for me please? :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

How scary!!! Has Sharon opened a new bag of dog food? Is it possible she got tainted bag? No deworming or shots recently? Change in ANYTHING she can think of in her house? New cleaning product? If the pups are going outside, has there been any recent yard care products used? Maybe even NEXT door?

Sorry... just years of working with elderly, and other fragile people, makes me ALWAYS ask "what has changed" question! With puppies, the exposure can be so many different things. Recently bathed using a different product or NEW bottle of same stuff.

Prayers for Sharon and the pups. Has anybody been in that could have brought a disease without realizing. I'm sure she is careful with her pups, and with visitors.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That she is Deb…

They wanted to do test on 3 pups, $1,100
They said no temperature and yet her thermometer said they had a temp, not as active, ould be missing the pup that went to new home
Checked for parvovirus, $400
They are all home now, will see how they are doing later and if necessary will take them to her vet 100 miles away

Kare, don’t dance too much lol
Congrats to newlyweds

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying all the puppies will be fine.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

OUCH!!! That vet bill was AWFUL!!! Does the vet see pedigree dogs & jack the price accordingly?

Victoria Harbour, ON

I think they do ...was seen as emergency visit
I messaged her a few times, no answer

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Happy to hear that the pups are doing better!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sunshine day, high of 77going to look over a file for LeeAnn and give client a call, should take more than 1/2 hour, took wedding quilt off the frame, want to do arches around border and could mark them for a sew day..this week is a rain week..

Yesterday i hosed down and scrubbed the 3 decks, house and washed down garden art, this morning am pretty sore, these things have to be done, know some say didn’t need to be done all on same day but by the time you get all equipment and supplies out you might as well do so..glad they are behind me..cut grass on Friday, if i can take enough pain killers in me might try and do it again seeing’s it’s a rain week ahead,

Lordy we could play find the blackbirds, so many of them out in front and in the field across the street..i always think they are a sign of bad news..here is hoping not!
Yes great news about the pups, think last 2 leave this week.

Pat know it was hard for you to let Sunny go but from the sounds of it Flex will be happy….

Sharon is on her trip is she not? Sure hope she enjoys every minute of it.
What to start with..hmmm

What do you all have planned?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Went to quilting group today, and learned how to make the hunters star. I really like how it came out.
