Verona, ON

Good morning everyone. It is a lovely day out there.

Kai is being a nuisance this morning I wish I could harness some of his energy for me. The TH are now out in their enclosure. Poor Chaos looked at me as if to say "what did I do "

Pat I echo Sharon loud and clear. You are a very kind person and family means so much to you. Perhaps you can review the agreement in a few months, Poor Stanley - of course he is feeling needy. Give him a hug from me please.

How is Cecil this morning Sharon ?

LK I was glad to read the storms are not slamming you. There are even locations here that have flooded but I have only had rain 1 day in the last week. I loved your quilt.

Betty did you have lots of long weekend traffic in your area ? There was hardly any here. The lake was quiet. I grocery shopped on Thursday and it was insane. You could hardly get a cart down an aisle.

Think it is time to get these boys out for a walk.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Do the vets recommend a TBSP of active yogurt to help establish the natural flora in Cecil's tummy?

LindaK, I was in AZ with my BFF and they had a hard rain & I got to see in action all the "dry riverbeds" that were built into the landscaping.. As a desert dweller, it was cool! Of course, that is NOT on the level of a "flash flooding", and I don't want to down play that scary stuff.

We finally have the collars on the puppies so its easier for me to tell who is who. I can sure see who the trouble maker is!!! Goodness he plays ROUGH! Cries of pain & distress bring me running regularly due to his rough housing! Yeah, THAT little puppy is welcome to go soon! On the other hand, the little yellow is so sweet and mellow, I will hate to see him go.

Any of you that have raised puppies, what do you do to keep their environment CLEAN? when do you potty train? Do you use cedar chips and if so, HOW? Do you scoop it like cat litter? When I agreed to let Adam have his dog bred, we didn't know that it would be in the middle of their move etc and I am clueless.

Verona, ON

Pat Deb is a good resource for puppy training.

How old are these puppies now ? I usually get a pup between 6- 8 weeks. I personally don't believe in paper training. Why create a 2 step program when 1 will be great. Fortunately for me I am not a good sleeper so I have been able to hustle the pup outside during the night. They sort of give you a little hint they need to go but I am also fortunate in that I am retired so I can get them outside. Praise, praise, praise when the pup does go outside to pee. I usually reward them with a treat.

Now back when I was working I did paper train them as I was gone all day. One year when we had 2 puppies come to us at once I had a high school student come at lunch time and take them outside.

Pat you will do just fine. You are a positive person that is a plus for you while training the little sharks. Watch for those very sharp teeth the pups have before the permanent teeth come in.

I was just at Foodland and the parking lot was FULL. That is just mind blowing. I think since the store got a permit to sell beer and liquor a few years back people on vacation make it a 1 stop. I know the American tourists sure like it. Before they had to go to a village about 30 min away from Verona to get their supplies.

We definitely have a bear making its' home here on the farm. It has been spotted twice now in basically the same area. I just make a lot of noise when we walk hoping that will scare the bear off.

Kai and I think it is time for a swim.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Dianne, are you taking bear spray/repellant when you walk? PLEASE do!! In In Wooten my grandkids (13, 14, 16 & 17) were not allowed to go for a walk without bear spray. The trail camera routinely spotted bear and cougar within 1/4 mile of their house.

Sam says the puppies are 6 weeks now & I guess she is right" Mind boggling. There is one little brown male, he is such a bully!! He plays so rough. When i walk in the pen, I end up with 3+ pups attached to my pant leg or shoes. I have hard enough time walking without having pugs hanging on me!! LOL. I am so cautious, last thing I need is to misstep and get a puppy or fall.

Sam was trying to clean the box & the pups kept trying to crawl in. She set a big cardboard box in the other side for a distraction. HOLY MOLY, those pups when to town gnawing on that box! They had all the corners and flaps severely chewed! I bought them 2 toys but quickly realized it was a mistake. "Mom & Dad" spotted the toys, stole them off the counters. I put them back into my car for return. I am not comfortable with the big dogs having them.

I do paper training with my pups because I'm not home during the day. I have friends who have had success with litter box training. I tried, but mine never got the hang of it, and the paper pellets ended up everywhere. Of course they think tearing up the paper is great fun too.

Dealing with a lymphoma diagnosis for Sissy, my pups grandmother. Just got the diagnosis last week. Oncologist appointment set up for Monday to see if we have any options.

Morning, will be a sunshine day but Lordy one does not know how to dress these day.
It’s is 59f with a breeze.

Dianne we had enough rain fir all of us, luckily didn’t have flooding..i went to foodland Saturday and had to wait for a cart but fir 5 minutes and they had 2 tellers on but other than that i found the area very quiet..once august it behind us it won’t we long we will have thanksgiving, months going so quickly,.had to smile, yep when a group of kids are acting up and one needs punishing at times all get punished for just being there lol

I sure hope Deb you get news that something can be done fir Sissy, how old is she?

Can’t help with any training thoughts Sailorgirl was trained and Roger trained others we had and i didn’t take notice..now my kitties, it was an was easy task.

This morning i leaves for pedi/mani at 10:30 then at 4 to a bbq so full day

So many phlox in my yard, took a couple photos on my garden walk, as well I’ll have to keep and eye out on the angel trumpets, will have 3 soon to bloom, one plant has no flowers, perhaps next year. Also the 4 o’clock snare starting to bloom, beautiful fragrance..

Hope it’s a sunshine day in your neighborhood

Deb, sorry to hear about your Sis. Sending prayers.

Happy birthday Sharon. Hope you have an awesome day.

Betty, your gardens are beautiful. Once you angel trumpets bloom, the magic is waiting to see what color they will be. Most will open one color, but will change.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I did not know that about the trumpet flowers Linda. This year I finally have phlox.

A&A got home last night about midnight after being gone for 2 days. Adam said they had to load the 1 truck 9 x before they could get everything in. I didn't talk long enough last night to know if they are completely CLEANED and out of Wooten or not.

Sam said Aiden returns today. It will be a rush to get the whelping box out of his bedroom and the room completely cleaned. I am not sure how A&A intend to get enough room cleared in the living room to fit in the box & extension!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Birthday Sharon, sure hope you had the best day ever..did you have family over or go out??

Pat, they will certainly be glad to have the move behind them as will you.

Sharon was here this morning with all the puppies in her vehicle in crates, she says she is trying to get them used to travelling..she had paper in the crate and they were so enjoying it.

I had quite the day,,started off not the best, got a call from the company i bought my riding lawnmower, they said there was further damage, electrical harness and something else and said they placed an order but who knows when it will come in, already i was 3xoexting a $500 bill so big sigh will be more..

My self propelled mower wasn’t working, Sharon brought her son Brian over, his arm all bandaged up, think he broke his arm and here he was fixing my lawnmower..got her going, then it was time to go for pedicure manicure and i didn’t get home till 2.

Cut front and side yard then had to leave for bbq at 3:30..those friends sure know how to put on a spread. Just got in and not without more treats, Darlene and John bought me a box of embroidery threads, 63 colours..they are always treating me..took my iPad (new ) so i could show Charlie and Alan photos of how the trumpet plants are coming but didn’t have a case, was going to buy one next time i was shopping and as i left here she had ordered one on Amazon and said it would be here in a few days..i have to watch what i say i want or need because it doesn’t take long it’s at my door..

It interested Ziggy lol

You have awesome friends.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Ziggy is considering a new hobby!! He wonders if spools of thread are as much fun as balls of yarn are.
Yep, some very sweet friends. Of course.... have you noticed ALL that Betty does for everyone??? LOL Kindness & love begets kindness & love.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Good to see you post Susan.... now to see you over here! LOL

I have been making a conscious effort to pick up and handle each of the puppies. After reading the prior posts I realize that maybe a trip in the car would be a good idea as well. These puppies have to leave soon as I am getting WAY TOO ATTACHED. I have "named" a couple of them. There is a little black collared chocolate male that I call Demon. He plays so rough and naughty! There is sweet Emily and my favorite Sunshine or "Sunny" the only yellow. He is just so sweet and calm, it will break my heart when he leaves.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Long long day shopping yesterday. I bought a dressy pant suit several weeks ago for the upcoming wedding. Tried it on to see if the slacks needed hemming or I could get away with low heels. Well I've lost more weight so the pants are now too large. Went to Belk's here to see if the dress I liked so much was still available as it should now fit. Of course it was not so I went into Knoxville to two more Belks, no luck. We stopped to eat and thinking it over, I decided to just exchange the slacks if the smaller size was available. I really cannot wear a dress unless floor length because my legs are still messed up from all those blisters. Slacks were available so I got them. I was irked that they were on sale when I bought them and not now so they charged me the higher price. I guess I should have argued about it but just too tired of shopping. Tomorrow I will see if I have to deal with the length.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, I am surprised they would not just exchange the larger ones for the smaller. Oh well... sometimes we just don't get the "break"!

I am still making slow progress decluttering and organizing in my sewing area. I REALLY want it as cleaned up and attractive as possible. I want it to be something I REALLY enjoy when I walk in.

Organized and welcoming, I want my guests to not feel like they are visiting a "work space". Crafters get it, but this is serving as my living room too, so it's important to me that it be appealing. I am not going to put more seating in it than the one recliner & 3 pink roller office chairs (that serve as work chairs at my sewing machines) , 1 folding chair that I have. I've never been a great house keeper, so this is a challenge. On the other hand, I do an above average job of decorating when I put my mind to it. I think there is hope for me! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Darts, not sure what i touch on the iPad that causes me to lose a list, there goes a novel grrr

Started off with saying it will be a gorgeous day,With rain coming for the next five days thought I best get out and get whatever outdoor chores I can do done. I cut down limbs that were blocking entrance into the secret Garden, coming up the stairway and the back deck, I am hoping once I do my other chores I will have enough energy left to burn the back fire pit. In the meantime I put the pump in the pond and I’m emptying it.. I would think that will take up most of the morning because I have to keep watching to make sure the water pump is submerged into water, all this because the water feature wasn’t straight and I took a piece of metal that I hit it with just a tad to straighten it straight and didn’t I knock it off so now a big job ahead of me. Might try and get a bit of sewing done on a baby blanket I have been asked to quilt as I can stop here in there and check the pond.

Karen you wouldn’t of thought there would’ve been any extra charges just because you wanted to get a different pair of pants in size, was it because the other ones were on sale and these were not? Sorry you couldn’t find the dress you were looking for, wow you have been losing weight to need a new wardrobe. Think I lost about eight since they started that morning exercise on TV which is equivalent to 1 mile, I’ve been doing it first thing in the morning and before going to bed..

Pat, you are putting a lot of thought into your living space making it meet the needs of Sewing and entertaining.

Had visitors yesterday, Sharon brought over the puppies, they are just so adorable!

Susan,, sure hope your camping goes well

Lindakay, thanks for answering my question on Facebook

Well best I get on with my chores or they’ll never get done..hope your day will be more exciting than mine.

Marie has roofers so she is home & I am going over. We will work at bagging up doll clothes, she has been cleaning the dolls. Lots more I could do here but it takes a LONG time to get all the dolls ready.
Maire is "on her own" when it comes to making the boys fold up fabric car roads and the super hero capes. I would never get any quilting or MY projects done if I let her talk me into helping with all her projects.
Our weather stays hot & sometimes sprinkles & blows so the cars all look awful.

Pat how far does Marie live from you? Enjoy..

Tired myself out today even though i took time to rest..Sharon’s sin Brian was going to come and do rest of roof but he is still working, i told him it’s too hot out there and too late to come.

Will be an early night..doctor comes at 8:40. in the morning, maybe if I’m up early enough i can bake him a pie

What did you all do today..the feel like was 98, tomorrow suppose to feel like 102, guess Susan is sending Dianne and i her hot weather.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That's warm for you Betty.
Working on a tumbling blocks quilt something different for me.

I was on guard in case it started lightning..1/2 way through the rain stopped..so go everything done..
Dr comes at 8:40am, if not raining afterwards ted next door will help me with the frame i painted green, get it on the large frame..

Marie lives about 20 minutes from me. It was a most frustrating day. Between the roofers beating on the roof, the gals coming to do the cleaning, Phil having issues with his mouth bleeding (due to 4 posts put in for new dentures). He "lost" his dentures & we figured he managed to accidently spit his dentures out. We went thru the garbage until we found them. It was THAT kind of day.
My hometown announced EVERYONE is back to wearing masks, today was highest COVID count since Pandemic started.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Your doctor is going to give you the what for, for not taking it easy.
So glad to see you had help.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda, I really like your tumbling blocks. I always thought I might make one some day. I think it might make a cute baby quilt with some of the blocks having embroidered letters on them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, rain is a coming so it will be a sew sew day..

Karen, The tumbling block look as though they would overwhelm me, lots of angle sewing right..i believe i have the accu cutter that does the block cutting but then comes the work..but what a beautiful baby quilt it would make..Lindakay is brave!

will sit here and knit until doc comes

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, that would be a beautiful baby quilt.
Yes, everything is cut with 60 degree ruler. Lots of small pieces to sew together on the bias. My new learning curve for sure.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rain held off, beside me on left, blues band played for 3 1/2 hrs, beside the secret garden is a neighbour’s little one’s 1st birthday, big air play area, across the street about 20 cars for beef bbq so mega busy

Think it’s nap time..

Looks like you enjoyed your afternoon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, rain is holding out and I’m sure all the vacationers and campers (Greg/Mel & group of 14) are thrilled. after all the activity in the area yesterday the are sure seems quiet! I

Am unable to do anything today so mellow’ing on the couch..did get ambitious and cooking spaghetti for my sauce.

Sharon called to say she is out of water and Carpenters cannot come until tomorrow, am sure she is frustrated..

Quiet here, you all must be extremely busy

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Marie & I worked on sorting dolls on Friday so ALL of yesterday I sewed doll clothes. We are scheduled to bag up the Medium size Cabbage patch on Tuesday after my MD appt.
I am hoping we can take "bite size" pieces to this project. Clean the doll, style the hair & then dress & bag, maybe not more than 10 at a time. Knowing Marie, that is NOT the way it's going... I am just grateful she is not under the illusion that I will store any of these.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, how did your doctors appointment go?

Victoria Harbour, ON

How many are you thinking you have left to do Pat, small bites and you will get it done..

Lindakay, doctor is going to access files on my neck, see when last exrays etc were done then see what further tests are needed.

Today I’ve been a couch potato, paining one though..

Had an urge for chocolate so i decided i had a mix of chocolate bud cookie mix so made them…had to laugh, said bake, let stand for a minute then put in sealed container..do they think they will last that long..

Lonesome kind of day, rained 1/2 hour

Look what was in my garden today

Oops cookie minute is up

i KNOW there are over 150 dolls that are not dressed etc. If Marie brings home another odd sized doll there will be a mutiny.

Good afternoon everyone.

It is in the 90's and very humid. The TH and I just got back from a walk and I am drenched in sweat. Kai swam but not Chaos. Kai hits every swamp and the lake both on the way down and on the way up. My American neighbours - I can't even see their cottage from mine but the boys and I walk there - are hoping to get here soon. They asked me if I would get some supplies in for them which I will do gladly. I am happy they are finally getting here - it has been almost 2 years

Oh Betty a blues band for 3.5 hours - how wonderful.. There used to be a concert every Sunday in the village park. I loved it. I could sit on my deck and listen. Since covid there hasn't been one.

Managed to get the house cleaned - not Dawn cleaned but it is clean. Dawn could do with some positive thoughts. She had a really bad fall at her house. She laid there for over 5 hours before she could call the ambulance. She got the stitches out of her hand last Thursday but her legs are in bad shape. She wanted to take another couple of weeks off and I told her in no uncertain terms I won't be expecting her to mid September. I am going to go visit her this week. She is not a reader so I think I will just take some flowers and of course dark chocolate.

We have a new puppy on the lane called Piper She is a Lab and just delightful. Kai wants her to play but he is so big - 85 lb- I am afraid he is going to hurt her. I think at the rate he is growing Kai will top out over 100 lb. There is not an ounce of fat on him right now.

Deb how are your 2 pups doing ?

Pat I called the hardware store to ask about bear spray. They didn't have any but will order some. .Today 3 different people saw a bear right on the lane. I walk in a very isolated part of the lane and haven't seen the bear(s) If there is 1 there has to be others.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Jess smelled burning in Brody's room so hubby checked it out. Outlet was arcing and there is quite a bit of scorched wood. This is the outlet he removed and replaced. Just wonder how many more we have in this place. Click on photo to see just how bad it was.

Evening, the feel like here is 102f, higher next few days so inside days fir sure..although i say that i did sit out with Marie inner big oak tree and pines on my side of property..i set up table/chairs for them, see Marie using area often.

Quick trip to midland today, niece asked if i could review some files from backlog, mega paperwork and now that Suzanne is working at a different company it’s hard to catch up. I spent a few hours this morning in office then on to garden centre, guess I’m having corn and new potatoes for supper.

Dianne, Terrible for Dawn, imagine laying there that long in pain..she will love the company and flowers…would she read a gardening magazine, know i would.will be wonderful to see your neighbours, bet they are anxious as well..they need both shots and proper Covid test 3 days before entering Canada and not so sure another a few days later? I have mixed feeling, overall Canadian Covid numbers are declining even with variant, not so with USA so why did we open borders? Ming boggling

Must be difficult for bigger dogs in this heat, know ziggy wants out but as soon as she feels heat back in she wants to come.

Pat that is still one heck of a lot of dolls, holy wah, is Christmas your finish target?

Karen, i shutter to think what could have happened while you were all asleep..old wiring in a house is dangerous, could be a faulty plug but maybe much more going 9n..is there anything you can do to check all wires other than pull off every plug??

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Walt is very good with electric. The problem he said was a loose wire which allows vibrations and eventually shorts. He checked the other outlet in that room and it's fine. He'll be checking room by room.

First visit with new Dr. today. It went pretty good. I started out by also telling him I'm a bad patient and will only agree to what I feel is best for me. He had quite a list of I shoulds to which I replied not gonna. He said usually he'd like me to come in every six months which is fine with me. One good thing. This time he wants me back in 3 months because my A1C is very low. He wants to see if it stays low in which case he will eliminate my diabetes meds. He also wants to monitor my weight as I am still losing. Most likely that is why my A1C is low too He just wants to watch since I just had that low blood spell. I am peeved that the hospital did not send the results of my last blood draw to the doctors as they said they would. I did get letter from Gastro wanting me to have follow-up EGD. I'm calling them tomorrow to say first he has to get last draw results from the hospital. If I'm lower than I should be, I will have another EGD. But I feel so good, I'm hoping I'm holding steady.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, raining here..storm went through within minutes off having blue sky last night..i look out when hail started and put down my 18’ umbrella and the umbrella in back seating are, thought best to unplug pond..got to say i was thinking i shouldn’t be out here but was..

Did do damage within a strip in town and yet nowhere else got it

Great news you like your new doctor, amazing that he didn’t say why are you adhere if you don’t listen lol my other dr. Said it…are you dieting or is the loss of weight from your illness? Likely both.

Greatest that Walt has electrical knowledge, guess most older homes have same..i remember Mike, John and Tom, all hobbies of friends changed all my plugs but that was over 15 years ago so could need checking.

Best i get a move on, girls come this morning and i needed to embroider a name on a Mickey Mouse block and didn’t so best i get that done

Brian called last night to say tomorrow night he would come and do a few unfinished things for me and would get generator going seeing new gas switch is in so I’ll take a ride to Orillia today and likely Barrie and there will be Tuesday gone..

Gabbed with Liz last night, she is doing well, she has been crafting again, made a fish
