Betty, hard to believe you still have a UTI, and not being treated for it. Is there an urgent care you can go to?

Pat, sounds like progress is being made.

I cheated, and had dinner tonight. Went to a BBQ place and ordered a plate of lean beef brisket and coleslaw. It was very good, and so far, my tummy has not rejected anything.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

WOW! Glad to hear it is not painful Karen! That is great news.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Blister has healed well. Now that foot is swollen and very hard to walk on. Debating on getting it looked at. Just feels so silly to keep going for this and that but foot is on three days now.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, overcast in my neighbourhood after the extreme heat and humidity we’ve had it’s a perfect day? feel 90% better today, of course the pain in shoulders and hip i still have but under control with meds..fingers crossed will stay same today.

Lindakay basically since March, because the hospital lab was over run by people they shut it down til Tuesday..my retired doctor knowing all my problems with kidneys and knowing i knew when my body was telling me i had it again would automatically give me a script not having to go for tests. Big sigh

Bet that meal had you drooling, wonderful it didn’t cause you problems..are you now going to slowly introduce your regular foods?

Karen that is great news that it isn’t causing you pain but are you able to do some walking?

Pat, did you have a talk with them re their responsibility of household duties or was it from vibes they were getting from you?? So will the vehicle now cleaned go up for sale?

Sharon are you over your vacation? Takes a lot out of you doesn’t it..bet your furries were thrilled to get you back home.

I managed to place almost all that Marie unloaded on back deck and Lordy is it fall 8n here, so wish you were able to come see it..

What to do, what to do?? Need something mindless to do that i won’t overdo
Although I’m watching my weight i could bake a cake??

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well now my damned foot is infected. I've been so very careful. On an antibiotic to hopefully clear it up. Had to practically drag the meds out of them. Foot is very painful, swollen, hot and red. Pretty clear it's an infection. All they wanted to do was put me in a boot. I said let's try an antibiotic and if not better, I'll go to my own Dr. as soon as possible.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy Karen, sorry to hear you are in pain and foot infected.. you would think they could tell it’s infected and give you meds without having to beg for them…does it help any with your foot up?

Hope meds kick in soon..

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Betty, trip was a blast. My cousin are just good souls from the old times. They grew up berry farmers daughters and worked hard. Two of them ended up in banking and rose to the top. one married many times and still has a roving eye. Thry also made sure we kept in touch, which was wonderful.

Karen, so sorry about your foot. For some weird reason, the foot is prone to get infections easily. Probably something to do with blood flow. Please keep an eye on it and keep us posted.

Linda, I would have caved before you did, but I did not have your stomach pain. I just made some chicken salad for sandwiches for a few days.

I think Pat just left the mess for a few days and did not clean it up and they got the message. She probably had to sit on her hands to do so.

Betty, my oldest granddaughter and her husband are in Toronto for the 3 day weekend. Last week was her 30th birthday and they are celebrating.

BYU is playing Arizona so tonight will be a big football game crowd. Both teams are close by and their fans are driving in in big crowds. And with the 3 day weekend, 1/3 of California will drive over for the Las Vegas Raiders game and the three day weekend. Glad I am staying home.

Betty you are so fortunate you have that kind of a relationship with your doctor. Not too many individuals do. I am so happy that Marie is willing and able to help you with many things. Sounds like she will be a great neighbor. Such a blessing you cannot put a price tag on.

I am going to take the dog for their afternoon walk and then deadhead the marigold bush I have in the front. Should be a little cooler. I will try and remember to take a photo. At least 50 spent blooms.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about your foot Karen. Praying the meds work quickly.
Sharon, so glad you enjoyed your trip.
It was 102 today. Too hot to be outside.
It was very hard for me to wait 2 weeks to eat, but for the first week, I wasn't hungry. My stomach just felt full all the time. I am gradually starting to eat again, but watching what I eat. I will avoid greasy fatty and spicy foods for awhile. I can have lots of fruit and vegetables. 16 pounds lost in 2 weeks.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Foot infections in diabetics are especially scary.

LindaK, I'll bet you are enjoying CHEWING something! Even if it needs to be bland.

Sharon, all those people, I will bet you ARE happy to stay home.

Attended a friend's wedding. I am so tired, can hardly wait to go to bed.

I literally have NO idea what finally motivated DIL to clean up the kitchen. I had told son, I could not use the kitchen, and had NOT for a couple of weeks. NO counter space etc, I did not even have room to pull the mixer. It was shortly after that. I also had cornered the 2 visiting granddaughters and told them under NO circumstances were they to put ANYTHING down the sink. If they boiled meat, they were to let the water cool and scoop off fat, NOT put it down the drain, I was NOT paying a plumber $500 again to fix the problem!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat, my biggest fear is an infection in my foot. I cared for a dear friend who was diabetic, She stepped on a tack and ended up losing her leg and then her life.

Verona, ON

Good morning, Waited overnight for the 100% chance of rain to hit but it didn't show.

Another quiet day here if the lane's new arrival of dogs will co-operate. The dogs mainly belong to people visiting. I spent far too much time returning barking dogs to their owners on the lane yesterday. I hate a barky dog and do my best to stop my pups from barking for the sake of barking. . To say I was POd is an understatement. Chaos who rarely barks unless there is something he wants to bring to my attention can't even enjoy his enclosure without hearing barking dogs. Of course then he barks - only natural. I know I ticked some people off yesterday but I don't care. We didn't build way down here to be bothered by uninvited dogs nor listen to endless barking for no reason. One family take their dog that has to be muzzled 24/7 as he bites and tie him to a lone tree in their yard. He never stops barking although I can't blame him I would too if I was tied to a 3 ft lead all day.

LK happy to read you enjoyed your first meal off of your restricted diet with no aftereffects.

Oh Karen I understand your concern about your foot. My DH was hyper about his feet and often soaked them in epsom salts. I think watching the agony his diabetic dad went through with his feet made him frightened about what could happen. Sure hope you can get this infection all cleared up.

Betty did you get the rain ? How are you feeling today ? I've almost given up calling my GP as the office is so busy you might be lucky to get a telephone appointment from someone not necessarily her maybe in a week.

Well it still looks and feels like rain so maybe I will get the TH out for another quick
walk.

I moved out some chairs from the living room but that I have been waiting for someone to help me move. Never underestimate the power of a short chubby woman when her mind is made up. Managed to get them all out and off to a spot where I can't see them until I can borrow a truck to get them to the dump. I'll not attempt to move the full sized freezer out by myself though. I don't even know how the movers got it into the boiler room downstairs on moving day. I suspect I will have to take the door off of the hinges.

The living room looks very spacious now although Chaos misses "his" chair.

Deb how are you doing ? Busy weekend with a dog show ? I imagine everyone is anxious to get back on the circuit now they can.

Still no Americans here. In my pea brain I think I remember our PM saying Sept. 21. I sure hope so.

Stay safe and well.

Bless you for wanting to keep your own dogs quiet and bringing the other dogs BACK to their less polite owners.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

It is another hot day. 102 and tomorrow 106 and Tuesday 108. Then we start another cool down and I hope this one lasts. I keep thinking the heat is over and it keeps comes back. That rain/hurricane that hit Louisiana and moved upward and drenched New Jersey and New York was unbelievable. New York got more rain in a hour than we get in a year. We are supposedly getting rain the end of the week.

I am going to plant my winter lettuce, turnips and such next weekend. My tomatoes are setting on new blooms and tomatoes. These are the ones that came up voluntary from the compost being spread around.

Karen, Epson salts does wonders for things like your toe. Also relieves the pain.

Pat, I had a tenant call me one time said they needed a plumber because they clogged up the kitchen sink. This guy was a contractor and I told him, you clogged it up, you unclog it. Nobody pour liquid fat down the sink anymore.

I dead headed the marigold last evening, after our walk and if I could have gotten my hands on my garden helper, I would have strangled him. Over 50 blooms deadheaded but I could not take and send you guys a photo because it was half dead from lack of water. One nearby plant was blocking the irrigation water from getting to the area.

The dogs and I have hair appointments n Tuesday. Only appointment this week and no appointments next week. I took three different packages of meat out of the freezer today and I will cook them tomorrow. Chicken thighs, short ribs and a big rib eye steak. I will have to invite someone to help me with the rib eye. But it will make great tacos.

My Son-in-law and GS went to the BYU football game last night and came home with no voices. Grandson, who is going to BYU in two weeks, said it was so much fun and so pleased his father surprised him with the opportunity to go to the game. SIL graduated from BYU, one grandson graduates this year and the two oldest granddaughters graduated so it is everyone's alumni. I have not talked to them yet.

Dianne, my dogs are barkers but only bark at dogs, not people.

Betty, did you guys get any of the moisture that New York got. How is Sharon's dog doing? Cecil is still fighting diarrhea..

Wonder how Susan is doing on their camping trip.

Time for the dogs second walk.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My toe is fine. My foot is swollen red and very sore. Was given antibiotic for infection but so far no improvement. My toes don't touch the floor it's so swollen. Walking is torture so not doing much of it. Back and forth to bathroom is about all I can do. I'll call on Tues if no better.

Was hoping to head north to see grandson on leave.

My cat just send my long post into cyber space... oh well.
Karen, call on Monday, the worse they can say is wait for Tuesday!

Kevin (son) says they have sent tentative date for wedding 11/ 13. They have reconsidered the idea of big wedding with Covid and are going forward with VERY SMALL family only wedding.

My DIL just texted me, they have all been exposed to friend who tested positive for Covid. They are going in for testing. Awww... the joys of sharing a home!! My vaccine or not, I am avoiding them until I know.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, we finally have what looks to be a full day of rain, had coffee on deck, so calming.

Pat, Stanley must have wanted your attention.. i shake my head, it’s a lot to take in, every day ,more is thrown on you..you must be exhausted after your day.

Yesterday morning Linda called at about seven and asked if she could come and work on a Halloween wreath for her daughter Stephanie, my goddaughter. I had some leftovers in a bag when Marie unpacked everything so they came to good use. Linda bought a hat and the legs in between the both of us we were able to do a wreath I did not do the mesh I had Linda do that the only thing I did was to secure the pieces onto the race and glue gun and some bats and spiders so that was a quiet day.

Once we finish Linda and I sat and talked for a bit and Cathy from down the street came for a half hour visit and left, 1/2 hr later she was back with a bag of boysenberries for Linda and i..my thoughts is make muffins are cook the with sugar and use as ice cream topping.

Sharon had invited me to turkey dinner at 5, i always say no to most invitations as by the time nightfall calls i am ready for bed but i accepted and it was nice, i was all worked up as my mom called just before i was leaving looking fir a fight..
Pheromones first words were “i hope you didn’t invite anyone i don’t like to this party, knew she was referring to her niece and hubby, i said i did, she went on to rehash conversations she had with them like 30 years ago, he told her the only good person had any brains in her family was Betty …i said mom think about it,if you were to only have a year or two left in your life do you mean to tell me you would waste them on a few I’ll spoken words said 30 years ago?? Yep then on to the list of who was coming and her comments on some of the individuals, i said ‘tell you what, if you feel you can’t be in same place as them stay home but i will have a party regardless..

Then she moved on to my brother Mike who rarely speaks to her but his wife calls everyday, sometimes he is in background commenting, she thinks it’s disgraceful and very hurtful..now he is retired they ride their spider all over, even 15 miles from her and don’t come over, i said that was something between her and Mike but to remember once she says Kim’s call aren’t what she wants but Mikes, Kim will never phone back…

She is famous in saying he said, she said, they said bit never says she said, 99% fibs I’d say.she said her neighbour wants to know what kind of kids she has that do not come over and do things for her, i got angry and said to tell her to mind her own F^[]£¥g business and better still give me her number and I’d tell her myself…by now she was getting to me.she said i told her i was a bad mother i guess when i was younger, understatement of the year.

Then on to poor Bernie, he is not well, can understand why he can’t help but the rest of us could…put my hand over my mouth at this point..

She went on to say, but her words were bitting how i spend a lot of time with Linda as she is more like a sister to me than Sharon..know this will get back to Sharon so i nipped input in the bud and told Sharon…

As she hung up she said enjoy YOUR family supper with Sharon…

I have to wonder how she has forgotten her past…she is a nasty, nasty woman but still my mom

Feel a tad better telling my tale of woe to you guys

Oops i lied, her comes the sun…
Friday i played with those 5” fall blocks, did not want to make anything that took a lot of sewing or quilting so did one of those block on top throws that ends up like a cotton rag quilt without the rag guilt cutting time.looks nice as a fall throw fir my bed..need one more bed throw so all rooms look decorated with fall.

Ziggy is laying lovingly beside me, he won’t like me tomorrow when i try to get him in a carrier to have his nails done.

Going to post part 1 here just incase Ziggy we’re to do same

Karen, that sounds like mega infection, could you not go to emerge, sounds like something that should be looked at up immediately with no time to waste.. know it would be disappointing for you and your grandson but this is MAJOR,, had an uncle that left his infections too long and he ended up with his legs amputated, i know it’s not nice of me to mention this nor put worry on you but this sounds like a no wait situation..hugs

Sharon, we did miss the heavy rains, although last night the gardens would have a good drink but it’s it’s fall in the gardens,,am so hoping there will be flowers still in bloom.

As for temps, heat wave broke, I’m in fall clothing and the furnace is on to take the chill out, dampness doesn’t help my body.

Congratulations to the graduates..lots of positive things happening in your family..exciting. Wish we could have double planting..
You always have flowers of sorts in your gardens through all seasons..lucky you!

Dianne, nothing worse than constant barking, can only take so much before blowing up…is it legal to tie a dog on such a short leash?should keep him inside…was it a cottager? Can only hope it is and they will close up the cottage til spring.

Vacuum cleaner looking at me, best i get my housework done. Might try doing my walk a mile exercise on utube, body wouldn’t let me but will try to get back into a routine,

Enjoy your day,be sage..

at Sharon’s last night Brian had just finished installing a system on her house which captures and tapes all the comings and going on her property, has a neighbour who says her gigs are always barking and he can’t stand it..it’s a dog community, bet every household has at least 2, a dog may bark from time to time from one or all of the homes but this neighbour has been aggressive with her, to the point she was go8ng to move, her dogs come first..that neighbour has the way 400 100 get from his house, noise galore but says the barks are definitely Sharon’s dogs, all neighbours say not.. now she can go back to which day or days he is referring to and has the footahpge..should he comeback she will call police and show footage..saf when you have to go to such expense but needed for her.

Oh my Betty we had mothers tarred with the same brush. Nothing good to say about anyone - sometimes even her perfect son. Mom could twist things said that you began to wonder if that is what you really said. My dad warned her that once he died they would not be getting the visits from family and friends that they did while he was alive. That threw her into a vile tantrum with swear words spewing from her mouth that continued for days. Dad's warning proved to be true.
Early on I just decided to isolate myself from my mom and rarely visited or even phoned her. My sister did the same.

Oh I feel for Sharon - sometimes a person gets a worm in their brain and can't accept reason or the truth. I know Sharon takes excellent care of her dogs - she's like me the dogs mean everything to her

Bless you Pat you sure have a lot on your plate. Take care of you and Stanley and while I know it is hard let the others solve their own problems and take care of themselves. You have been more than kind and considerate. Sending hugs your way.

Still waiting for rain - now it looks like it could be later in the week.

I'm disappointed I was to meet 2 friends in Kingston for lunch tomorrow but 1 had to cancel. This would be the first time I will have been in a restaurant for over 2 years I think. .We'll do it next week.

Enjoy your Labour Day holiday. Everything except the convenience stores are closed here in the village.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am so sorry for those of you that had Toxic Mothers. When I still worked in crisis mental health, and I heard medical personnel make disrespectful comments about "neglectful children or family", I would remind them that most parents reaped what they sowed. None of us know how cruel and obnoxious the parents had been to their children and we were NOT in a position to judge. The longer I worked in mental health, the more conscious of the blessings I had in the family I was born into. They are not perfect but they were/ are good people.

I read a Dear Abby once, the women wrote in that she hated to call her mother because Mom would trash talk everyone. The suggestion was that NEXT time, the daughter would say "I'll give you 5 minutes to talk bad about all the people I love, then you done". WOW!!! hehehe.... I really liked your idea of suggesting your Mom stay home if she didn't like who you invited!!

As far as "next door", it is what it is. They are bound to get Covid at sometime, whether they test positive this time or not. They take few precautions. They were the first to take their masks off, even when officially the state said that those that were vaccinated could, but those without, were to stay masked up.

Neighbors can make or break you. Betty, you have Marie & husband next door to enjoy. You have also contributed greatly to that relationship with your donation of the "garden area". Sharon has the neighbor from hell. Thankfully it sounds like most of Sharon's neighbors are supportive and honest. The recording system will bring her a measure of peace of mind.

Karen, any improvement on your foot?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne and Pat, thank for your posts, you do not know how grateful i am for friends such as all of you..what makes one think is it them?? When people say, you’ve the sweetest mom, wow she has 2 sides, thank goodness she doesn’t show her true side..enough of that.

I ran into another bit of drama, Susanne, Linda, Rita and I who travel together for all those years haven’t been a foursome s8nce Covid, so now you can go to a restaurant and we can celebrateRita’s 65th i chose the 25th to go for breakfast and a little day trip..Again not thinking Rita replied she would love to, the other 2 said no as she has not had her shots…grrr forgot about her both having her shots..she is out and about quite a bit soooo now what do i do

We came back from camping on Friday. Nice quality time spent with my husband.
We had a thunder/lightening/rain/hail & wind storm on Tues, but had our campfire on Monday, and again on Thurs. Invited the couple from the site next to us to join for the campfire. Nice couple.
btw - the woman who's been helping Naomi and teaching her Bible Study is now refusing to do stuff with her, because she's found out that she's been lying to her. They were accusing Bob of sleeping around with women in our community, and not saying who. Aw c'mon ladies - I've been with him for 1/4 century - NOT his style. Other lies, too. Catherine's fed up with it. To say she doesn't like lies is to put it mildly. Bob agrees that Naomi's infatuated with him, and I told him that after this is all legally over with, that he shouldn't have anything to do with her as it will only cause more talk, and neither of us need this. I'm standing by him.
Weather's lovely this week. Figures, eh? The plumber's over to fix a new leak in the motor home.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, it's not easy but I believe honesty is the best policy. Simply tell Rita that on 2nd thought, her lack of vaccine is keeping Susanne & Linda from wanting to join for lunch, AND if you had thought about it, YOU would not have extended the invitation (due to her nonvaccinated status) I know it seems harsh but ALL of us have a choice. We live (and die) with our choices, for some of us, the vaccine is a priority. For others it is NOT, they feel strongly that it is the wrong thing to do for a list of reasons. That being said, it is not wrong for a vaccinated person to wish to NOT associate with a NON-vaccinated person because of the increased risk of breakthrough infection. So Betty, apologize and withdraw the offer. Let her know you look forward to celebrating EVERYBODIES birthday when it safe to do so, let her know you love her & wish it could be different. .

My son Kevin & finance Gloria are facing the same decisions. They have made the decision they will ONLY invite vaccinated family members to their wedding. Both of them work in medical settings and are VERY aware of the risks. They chose not to increase the risks to their health and others. Gloria's mother was fully vaccinated and still contracted Covid.

We are all responsible for our own choices. Our friends do not have to agree with them. It's HARD!!! Kevin was very surprised that I did not REQUIRE his brother Adam & family to have their vaccines if they wanted to live here with me. I may end up regretting that decision.

Susan, sounds like gradually everyone will find out for themselves what a liar Naomi is. When the truth is fully known thru out your community, she will sell and move, we can only hope! And the cycle will begin again, somewhere else where she will find a fresh pool of kind, loving people to victimize.

I hope to hear from you Karen, I hope you are improving.
.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat, that is extremely good advise, will have to do so, know it will not be well received but times are different and we have to make safe choices, i wasn’t thinking so i will have to speak up..know i checked with all who are coming to mom birthday to make sure they are vaccinated and they are. Couldn’t Adam and family get vaccinated now seeing there are more variants?? Numbers are rising again here, school starts tomorrow and am not sure for how long..poor kids, spoke to a neighbours child, she is six, i asked if she missed her school friends but she said because of Covid she had never been to school.

Susan, hope not a major repair, will you be able to go camping again?
So hope over the next few months charges will be dropped and you can get out and enjoy your groups..

How are things Karen, you’ve been in my thoughts quite a bit..

I got a reminder that it would have been Barb’s birthday today.. miss her!

had plans to retire early, just relax seeing i seemed to have wasted the day didn’t think i should start something when Marie came to say up on Park street there was a sign, free bricks and did i want to make her garden bigger, lol..told her yes but not in a position to be getting bricks but could be supervisor..don’t think Ted was too excited about the project but was a champ..

Melanie just sent me photo’s of Greg and Grayson..great sitter, both fell asleep lol

Betty, sorry to hear about your Mom going on a tantrum trip. I too am glad you told her to stay home.
Pat please stay safe with covid. Make sure you have lots of lysol or bleach to keep things sanitized in your home. I would seriously think about telling them, if the have taken a covid test. If it comes back negative, they have to get vaccines if they wish to continue living there. No need to take chances.
Susan, glad to hear you had a good vacation. Praying all your legal progress behind you soon.

Karen, please give us an update when you can. We all worry about our dear friends.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Naomi won't move, because she was given the mobile home by her grandmother. Also, with Bob's help it's gone from "will be condemned" to the building inspector passing it. New people will get sucked in by her lies, but she'll forget who she told what lie to.
As for me, my "Anger management" counselling will go until the middle of Jan. Only 1 session in Sept because she's busy. As of Oct 5 I will have a session every Tues afternoon except Christmas week. When I'm finished these sessions, then the Probation Officer will sign off on the whole thing.
Bob's court date is Sept 20th, and I have no idea what will come about from that. Still waiting to hear from the lawyer re: advice.

As for our Motor Home - the water fix was really easy - just needed a tightening at the T-connector to the hot water heater. Neale came, fixed it, and didn't charge us anything. Great guy! Around all the appointments Bob & I have, we hope to go camping one more time.

Glad it wasn’t costly Susan..
