Sorry about her losing a puppy.
What's going on with your mom?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..newcomers always welcome..
I will walk the dogs and then check in. It was 111 todsy and still hot but sun is behind the mountains so not beaming directly on us.
I am praying that I have NO responsibilities for the puppies when they come. I KNOW NOTHING and am terrified! The idea of losing a puppy is so scary. Or worse, lose the mother.
OH NO, Betty - Prayers for you & your Mom.
Prayers for you and your mom, Betty.
I feel so bad for Sharon losing a puppy. I still feel guilty about a puppy I lost 12 years ago. I hope the other 5 are thriving.
Morning, just spoke with Sharon and she doesn’t believe she can save yet another..she is so down.
When I got call from mom yesterday is was to tell me that her sister aunt Muriel is doing poorly (92) and have her in lockdown as she is puking out intravenous and trying to get out to go home,,can’t go to see her so mom is upset.
Then Bernie called her right after his call with doctor, he has a type of blood cancer, mak8ng appointment with oncologists, add that to mom’s brother in Vancouver who has cancer and it’s progressing quickly now that they cannot continue with certain treatments
So the world keeps turning and not for the best. Told come to come up for a week, it would her do her good and she could visit with Bernie..we will see
Oh so sorry, Betty. Bad day for phone calls.
Goodness Betty, a day like that, you hate to answer the phone. It is so sad when our siblings and others we love are reaching that age when it seems all news, is bad news.
Marie must be having a good time in New York, she has not answered any of my texts! If it was important, I would call. Mostly it was just FYI stuff and chatter. Our Block of Month embroidery meeting was yesterday and it was full of news about upcoming events. Most of which Marie will want to do and talk me into going with her. Likely I will decline. I need some time to "regroup" and get this sewing area whipped into shape etc. Although the events are a month out & more, I am NOT feeling the need to add more to my plate!
I have VERY little wall space in my sewing room & what I did have, I filled with a peg board. I am trying to get all my art off the walls in my old bedroom, hall & living room. Some it I will store. It occurred to me last night, I can put one piece of art above the other in my new bedroom, as one wall is vaulted, that will help!
My neighbor yesterday asked me what age I was aiming for and I blurted out 90. I do feel I am strong enough to make it to that age but you never no when that ugly cancer will raise it;s head. The older you get the higher your risk is to get it. All my cousins have lived to 90 or just a few years younger and are all widows. Guess us women need to start marrying younger men.
Betty, I am so sorry about Sharon's loss of puppy and now maybe another one. So sad and delivering and getting puppies past the first few weeks is a very time consuming task. We were going to breed our Schnauzers and read a box on breeding and quickly changed our minds.
Betty, Montreal won last night so NHL sub final is tied 1-1 and they now move to Montreal for the next game.
Betty, my siblings and I are close in age. I hate to think of the time when one of us dies. My youngest brother's wife died but that is the only death we have had in the family for a long time. God bless your Mom and her siblings. AND, how are you feeling.
Pat, is everything a GO. Going to be quite a weekend. BTW, my Strawberry cream cheese tart tastes a lot like yogurt. With a few chopped fresh strawberries on top, it is a wonderful, refreshing treat. Your situation reminds me when we had water damage in the kitchen and Vern and I lived in our bedroom, which is large, and cooked in the laundry room with a microwave. Had to many pets to move into a hotel, which the insurance would have paid for. Vern learned quick that his wife was a good cook and buying premaid food from Whole Foods or Trader Jo's was not quite up to par.
Susan, not OK. If both parties want this to end, it should end. If Bob was earnest in his desire to return to your loving arms, he would not be having dinner with her and would find someplace else to park.
re: Bob - everything's on hold until I can talk to him on the 28th. Until then I'm not making any decisions, only contemplating our discussion at the time.
Betty, sorry to hear all your bad news. Send prayers for all.
Pat, good luck with your family moving in, and getting everything organized.
Our utility company stopped by, they need to trim off 10 feet of the branches side of my silver Maple tree, it's gotten too close to the power lines. They need access to my backyard sometime in the next week. I needed that like a hole in the head. I had planned on jerry-rigging that area between my patio & neighbor's fence until I got a gate bought or made. *sigh* Guess I had better get a GATE in place sooner than later.
We broke a record yesterday for the date. 115. Betty, Death Valley also broke a record, 128.
We are suppose to have thunderstorms tomorrow. That will most likely set the desert on file. No rain, just lighting.
I am taking Cecil to the Vet because he has been feeling poorly for over a week and yesterday for breakfast he would not eat. He is a chow hound, so that was not a good sign.
Pat, when it rains, it pours. I am praying all goes well with the move.
I found some Trader Jo's turkey gravy in my pantry and it only has 2 carbs for 1/4 cup. I used my cauliflower casserole, as stuffing, cut up part of the turkey breast I baked and had turkey and stuffing with gravy. It was delicious. Only problem is they only sell the turkey gravy at Thanksgiving time. Along with the cranberry sauce. This year I m going to stock up on both.
Susan, how does your garden grow. So pleased you are going to a different church. Is Bob still going to church.
Betty, I hope you are feeling well. Hugs to all.
Boy Sharon, your turkey and stuffing sounds delicious... past time for lunch here. Maybe I should at least start drinking some fluids!
I swapped out my car for my sister's pickup yesterday, anticipating needing to haul a few things. The truck would not start this morning!!! That is the world's most dependable truck! I was shocked. Had a neighbor jump start it for me & returned it to Marie's. I don't have the time or energy to worry about a vehicle not starting!
The art is boxed up, I will ask son to move it to the barn. One of the boxes is too heavy for me. I should have known better than to try and package those 2 big pieces together.
I hope everybody is doing OK today and that the weekend will be enjoyable for all.
Sharon, Bob doesn't go to church, because SHE doesn't go to church. She professes to be a good Christian girl.
Beyond that, we weren't able to attend church because of Covid. We just a few weeks ago are allowed to attend church in person. I think I may go to church in my own car. My good friend Pat's husband has dementia and he's determined that Pat's sister & myself are in cahoots with each other, to run his life & coax Pat into stuff. He's delusional BIG TIME and yesterday I told him his wife was trying to catch his attention, and he said "What are you now, the chairperson here?" We were at a senior's meeting. I got angry and told him off, then apologized & told him I was under a lot of stress, but it shook him and he didn't know quite what to say. He's pretty awful to his wife & others - rude.
Last Sunday Pat & I went to church together, but he was told by her not to. He was going to rant & rave at me about trying to run his life.
Susan, maybe it did him so good to have someone else go off on HIM for a change! Dementia is such an ugly disease. It robs you of the "person" before they are gone in death. In the advanced stages, it is WORSE than death.
Family is still bringing loads. Grandson sent his dirty clothes, and dirty clothes that needed washing before donations. I have been telling them to SEND the laundry!!! Their washing machine is acting up, sometimes just stops before the whole cycle is done & the dryer likely has 1 of the heating elements out (takes twice as long). The kids are expected to wash their own laundry and they don't do a good job of staying on top of it. I guess my kids were spoiled, I did EVERYBODY's laundry. I would rather do that then stacks of dirty laundry in the house and I am overly protective of my OWN clothes and machine. As long as I was doing the laundry I didn't end up with ICKY things (or crayons) in the laundry! Or my dresses ruined because my Sweetie put a rayon dress in the dryer! LOL
Evening all, was a beautiful day,, sunshine and nice breeze, we did get rain yesterday but still need more.
Not sure if mom is coming up tomorrow or Monday, first time she said she was concerned about driving.
Jeff will drop in for a bit tomorrow morning, haven’t seen him since hmmm maybe my birthday beginning of March so will be nice..normally tpmy boys get together father’s day, visit Rogers grave and go golfing. In the afternoon Sharon and I will take quick run to my dad’s gravesite so busy Sunday ahead.
Speaking of Alzheimer’s Cathy dropped in for a release..she tells me the same thing every time she visits, feel sorry for her, not easy being caregiver to someone with Alzheimer’s.
I ran into town, did my groceries, picked up Chinese, yummy, enough for tomorrow.
thought with Jeff coming I’d get fixing for a nice breakfast, when rita was here earlier she told me to buy chicken bacon, said less fat, we will see.
Rita brought a dress and ripped jeans, her daughter wants me to cut legs off jeans, top off dress and sew together, not sure how that will turn out?? Also machine embroidered 2 hand towels, “jaws” and the other “superman” had thought I’d get them done today but not, bed is calling me..
Susan you sure are having a time of it, best you drive al9ne, what you don’t need is more friction in your life.
Pat, I remember those days, crayons melted many a time 8n dryer and I list lively outfits..they sure are lucky to have you.
Waving to all
Oh Pat, I'm so very picky about laundry. I always did it myself. Still can't stand for anyone to do ours. Hubby is always saying his whities are still white as new. His mother washed one of my diapers once and it would never get back to white. Went into the rag bag. Silly I suppose. I did teach mine proper way to sort and wash.
THANKS Karen, I don't feel like such a Crabapple now that someone else is picky about the laundry! LOL I don't think there is anything wrong with expecting children to do their own laundry, it just wasn't worth it to me! My kids all had chores and every Saturday we had some work project to complete before we could go "Play". I believe we taught them good work ethic without having to require laundry! Several of my sons have expressed they wished their spouse embraced the concept of work hard and fast Saturday morning, & have the rest of the day off, rather than drag it out....
Hot here but cloudy. Suppose to have thunder and lightning. Sprinkles of rain early morning. Friends said thy were out in it and all it did was get their cars dirty.
I always did the laundry on Saturday's. All the children, except Vern's daughter, kicked in and helped with the house2ok and Vern mowed the lawn. When disagreements started on when he should mow the lawn, I hired a young man to mow the lawn. Same with cleaning the pool. Finally gave up with Vern's schedule and hired a pool service.
Pat Good Luck on the weekend. A lot will be happening but I know you will keep your cool.
Betty, glad you and Sharon had a nice visit to your Father's grave. I saw you were suppose to get rain. Montreal won last night against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Now Montreal is ahead 2 - 1. They play again tomorrow evening.
Karen, I think we all were raised the same way and tried to teach that type of thinking onto our children.
Sharon it's been about 102 here, with 38% humidity. Can't imagine being in your temps.
I am fussy about doing laundry here too. Pockets better be empty when I gather the laundry.
I spent a week in Michigan visiting my brother and other family members I haven't seen since 2016. Last time I was home.
My brother isn't doing well. He was sent home with hospice care. He is being sedated to keep him comfortable. I enjoyed my time with him, but was sad to leave him.
Well wasted 6 hours tonight. I finally had enough of the itching and the blisters are still spreading. I'm so afraid of infection as I'm diabetic. Walt took me to ER. NEVER do that on a Saturday night. The triage nurse I saw was very concerned and wrapped my leg. And then we sat and sat and sat finally at six hours. I went up and gave them back their bracelet and said I just had to go. The itching was making me crazy and I needed to get the cream on it. Nurse was very apologetic. I told him I understood with it being Sat. night and all but I just couldn't sit there any longer. As we were leaving 3 ambulances pulled in so I know I made the right decision. I'll try again Monday to find some help.
Morning, yikes look at your temps, unbearable heat, Sharon have to look at what Death Valley was when we went, thinking 118?? You are hitting those temps without being in Death Valley.
Hard times for you Lindakay, can you face time with your brother?
Heck Karen, what to heck could you have caught?? Can you see your doctor tomorrow or can pharmacy prescribe something a little stronger than normal?? To spend that much time and not be seen..Hugs,
Imagine, I’m on the couch thinking of getting an Afghan to cover me up, feels like I need a nap.,sun is trying to come out so once I nap I can do garden chores.
I learned enough from the triage nurse that I could look up what was happening. Evidently it's because I'm retaining water even though I'm taking Lasix. Besides the blistering, it's making walking difficult. There are several suggestions to help.
Strange, I've had swelling much worse than now and didn't get the blisters. It's an age thing too.
It's suggested I keep my feet raised and walk more. Also I can go back to wearing my compression socks if I can stand them right now. Also suggested I raise the foot of my bed. All doable.
I'm willing to try most anything at this point.
Yes, those nurses at times know as much medical issues as do doctors..Lehrer is hoping if you follow those suggestions you will feel better.
Jeff came for a visit,Molokai fit and trim, cleans up well lol, for while there not going anywhere he was looking grubby. Greg was just leaving when Jeff dropped in, made me laughter, Greg was looking for a specialty saw, was cutting metal shelving for trailer closet..I said how many friends do you know who go to their m9ms to borrow tools..was still new int the box so told him to keep it, if I haven’t used it in these many years not likely to.
Greg and Jeff are going golfing at Oak Bay on Georgian Bay then do the graveyard visit for their dad, then Jeff will return to city and Greg will have Noah,Kyle for supper at their house as the camp grands only allow those who have campers inside the park..I was asked if I wanted to go over for eats, might pass as golf is 4 hrs so it will be late..
Have Chinese left over for late lunch so likely I’ll be full..
Karen, that is so sad about the ER. I finally started having Vern taken by ambulance. Paid the $200 co-pay and didn't have to wait for hours. Only pulled that trick two times but that was after an 8 hour wait the time before. That sounds so uncomfortable. I am praying your blisters are going away and some comfort is coming to you.
That sign is funny Betty because it says the temp is 129 and they said the 128 two days ago broke a record. We are suppose to move down into the 90s by Tuesday. Some of my garden is doing fine and some is frying. I knew that would happen with the removal of the big trees that offered so much shade.
My daughter is in St Louis visiting her granddaughter and of curse, the mom and dad. She has her 3 boys home and the youngest starts college end of August and the other two return to college, so by the end of August she will have an empty nest. The two boys returning, this is their last years, they will graduate and then on into the real world. Her oldest daughter will be 30 in August so this empty nest will be the first time in 30 years. It will be interesting to see what she does.
Signing off for now. Going to be a day for staying inside out of the heat. Hugs to you all.
Betty, Montreal and Las Vegas play hockey tonight.
Karen, the first time Ben got the blisters, they were as big as golf balls! I noticed his pant leg was wet and pulled up the hem of his slacks and there were these giant weeping blisters! I took him straight to ER.
Ben's treatment consisted of bandaging his legs to absorb the weeping, wrapping his legs in compression wraps, and legs elevated. Later it was also IV antibiotics & bed rest. It was a miserable ordeal. He was not compliant with the bed rest and the home nurse finally threatened to discharge him from services. When he stayed down with legs elevated it really responded much better.
Karen, sorry you are going through this. It sounds very painful. Praying you get relief soon.
102 in Texas today. Feels like 111 with the humidity. Too hot to go outside.
Betty, did your mom ever come to your place?
Should be a good game Sharon, Las Vegas is a pretty good tea,..thought when we were in Death Valley they said 132F was highest temp ever recorded, we thought it was hot enough..remember how worried Rita and I were travelling through that region on our way to visit Liz.
lindakay , mom is suppose to come either tomorrow or Tuesday..I’m so used to living on my own takes a bit to get used to so, done else in this house.
Imagine Karen as Pat said, laying down with feet up would help, can’t you see as staying quiet for too long.
Lovely visit with Jeff and Greg, they enjoyed their golf day, perfect day for it, right around the corner where we lived on the Bay so lots of memories as well.
Shar9n and I did the graveyard walk, cleaned tombstones, left roses on all the family graves, my hip was giving me the What fore before I went, more so now
Will take a hot bath and put dr. Ho on for 40 minutes, see if that helps
I have my compression socks on after I first put gauze over the blisters. I'm keeping my feet up as much as possible. I will raise the foot of my bed for tonight too. I'm hoping I get in to the new Drs. soon. I want to ask if a temporary increase in the Lasix might help.
Karen, do you have doctors that call vis Skype!
Meant to say that Braedon is home from Germany after a year, he did his gmt approved quarantine in hotel sanctioned for Covid then his 14 days of quarantine at Jeff’s on the 2nd level and now free...they got their 1st Covid shot, another 28 days and that will be my entire family with their 2 shots..hurrah
No my Drs. at the moment don't. No idea as yet if the new Drs. will.
Felt better today with my compression socks on. Hardly itched at all.
Morning, light rain here..sure do need it, hoping for an all day rain.
Karen, it looks so much like poison oak? I really get infected with poison ivy and stay away from it but was getting it anyways, couldn’t figure it out why I continued to get it, here it was the dig running through the pathways then I’d pet him.
Doing my bedding today, maybe dust, not much more to be clean so decided I might try and finish refurbishing linda’s House sign, got the knots double painted with knot sap bleed through paint, let’s hope it works sooo if I get that done as well I will be a happy camper.
Sharon, who won the game last night!
Adam's Nova had 7 of her puppies but Adam said he can feel/see one more moving as of last night. I have not talked to him this morning. I have a picture on my phone but I can seem to get it attached here. I will try again later. I need to leave to take care of BIL.
Wow, lots of little ones..hope they all survive.
No sooner posted how I love it was raining and the rain stopped, I jinxed it.
Doing a bit of everything, now that bed it nice and clean was thinking of crawling in for an hour but nope..
Did you ever have a day your head is so heavy you just want to doze off?
Will push myself, need to get something accomplished
Betty, is there ANYTHING so important that it REQUIRES you to push yourself? Maybe you need to sit back and take it easy, nap for a day. You have not been in the world's best health lately!
What a thoughtful post Karen, you are right, dozed off after I pressed ‘send’ and just woke up..I will listen to body more often.
See the neighbour across the street, house next to her so I never see her out...understand she sold her home and moving to an apartment..house her sun says should be bulldozed down as she is a hoarder and no repairs done in years, ought to be interested
I see someone on our local blog messaged me wanted to know if I could help her learn on an old serger someone gave her..declines but told her to look on u tube, likely a help.
I don't know which of the suggested things worked, maybe a bit of all of them. I woke this morning with no blisters. I had no itching through the night. I still have the spots from the blisters so I did wrap my leg again today so the compression sock won't irritate it. How about that a nurse was more help than the Drs. Such a relief today.
SOOooo happy to hear that Karen! Glad you have such a huge improvement.
