EXACTLY!!!! you are doing what is best for your family. You LOVE them and want to protect them as best you can.
I just had the funniest thing happen. I had listed the armoire, entertainment center 2 bookcases etc on Facebook Market place. YIKES! I had no idea I would have that big of response! Well, anyway, I sold the entertainment center to a couple and within minutes of them getting home they contacted me back. They got it home and another family member had a FIT and would not allow it in the home. the new buyers said they needed to resell it immediately!! So, I offered to contact the people who were waiting to see if THEY had bought it before coming to see it. The buyers provided their phone numbers, I passed it on. Within minutes I heard back from a very happy family that they were buying it from "my buyer"!! Happy ending!!!
best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit awhile and visit..newcomers always welcome
Just got in, bad weather, getting worse..got cedar and other greenery but no pine, have to go out another day..trunk is full though.
Must be bad accident, before my cutoff there were 5 police cars with sirens going..
Getting icy, glad to be home
Greg dropped in and worked on my pumps, saw me pulling in my drive so stopped to say he did work on my pumps and worried as to where I was..
He just took Mel to hospital with chest pains, of course you can’t stay so he is waiting for her to call him..I asked if chest pains were something she got a lot of and he said no thought it was stress, after they left here last night they were talking about not seeing her mom and dad, nor Noah or Kyle, me and Jeff etc and he thinks she worked herself into tension attack.
I am telling myself it’s only a day like any other and I’m prepared to spend it al9ne..maybe an hour on zoom Christmas Day with all on it..
Yep I’m with you, best stay away vs giving it to someone else.
Time to pull big girls panties up..
Congratulations on selling your items Pat. That was quick.
Oh goodness Pat fast thinking, am sure they were relieved and alternate buyers happy as can be.
Just climbed into bed, fresh air today did me in..snowing hard right now, will be shovelling in the a.m.
I don't know how you do the shoveling Betty. That would do me in. It doesn't help that if I get chilled I get hives.
I am hoping to be able to turn my attention to the garage and for the first time be able to PARK in a garage. It won't be for a while! Too much to do INSIDE the house for now. Although I did get some stuff pulled out and put away. The tall black dresser & long dresser got put into the new guest room.
My SIL Sharon (who I had helped with her son's denim quilt) came today and worked for a couple of hours clearing and cleaning up my leaves! What a sweetie! She likes "power tools" and has all the good stuff. Blowers, shredders, some kind of "sucker" that picks up the leaves and mulches them. Like me, she LIKES to get her hands dirty! I begin to really feel anxious if I don't get some outside time in to "ground me". She has a nice "shop" with good wood working tools. She has made some wonderful planters etc. She is the one who helped me on my porch benches this summer.
Stanley is indeed adorable!
The other day I caught myself singing at work........ yup, one happy camper (at work).
Not so happy otherwise. this who COVID stuff has me so depressed. We were going to have a small group of Red Hatters on Dec 2 at our Senior's Centre in Torrington, and for the 2nd time since April we were cancelled by our Queen. She doesn't want anyone leaving their community to come here, in case they bring the virus to us.
Then tonight, after baking a whole bunch of cookies for our church's Cookie Walk on the weekend, they've decided not to hold it. And this morning I got a call saying that church was was cancelled.
That comment you had Pat, about the tracker chip, etc, is what my boss was talking about all the time. I DO know what you mean. It IS depressing.
YIKES, bad enough I get it in messenger, YOU were getting the full meal deal in person!!! I am so glad you were able to stand up and be heard. That once again you are happy with your work environment!
Thank you, Pat 😁
Morning, ground is covered with wet snow, likely won’t shovel but I could go out and build a snowman (that is doubtful)!
Pretty much the same here Susan, church is closed, any planned event even with minimal numbers are cancelled..for all the exciting things I do they could put a chip into me, would be awfully boring tracking me, where to heck do people get these
ideas..
Pat, isn’t it a nice feeling when someone comes over to help? But then I’m sure you are there for her as well. Are you seeing light at the end of the tunnel?
I decided to start my day decorating my tree, just made my 2nd cup of coffee then I will get to the 2nd tote of ornaments Ziggy is watching the tree turn, a light touch of the paw from time to time he just managed to unwrap an ornament and is playing with it..think he thinks I’m taking too long of a break, watching me as though to say up and at it lady..
Glad to hear things are better for you at work Susan.
Beautiful tree Betty.
Tree is up as are most of the decorations. I take no credit at all. Ducky takes no interest in the tree which is a good thing. I think in the short time he had to be outside, he decided it was not for him so even a tree in the house is of no interest.
They sure have their personalities don’t they.. when I have the tree in rotate Ziggy is more interested in seeing the glitter reflection on the rug and chases it..
Snowing again, just had stew, don’t know why I bother eating because the minute I do I feel slightly nauseated..put my name on house visit with my doctor.
Sitting here knitting, trying to finish 5th of 7 neck warmers, would like them all done by end of week then I can move on to other things.. more interesting when they request a few lines of colour.
I thought you were knitting them on your machine?
Praying you can see you doctor soon.
Should be, but am enjoying watching tv and knitting..I have one ready for the knitting machine, will do it tomorrow.
Sharon dropped in for stew on her way to Foodland, should have told her to pick me up some muffins, been craving sweets..never got out of Jammie's today,
could bake a cake I guess .. mentioned I wanted muffins, maybe when Sharon picks hers up she will remember my mentioning muffins lol
My brother called to tell me a friend of his just died of Covid, when you start knowing people who have died it brings the situation into reality.
Learned a couple things today....For Free Standing Lace (FSL) embroidery. I had much better results by using a different water soluable stabilizer (WSS). The first one I had was like plastic and tended to tear early in the embroidery process. I tried some that is more like interfacing but still washes away and it's wonderful. My ornaments are so much nicer. It's called Brothread Wash away White 1.5 oz. Ordered from Amazon. I also made them one size bigger, still a good size for the tree but again nicer looking. I made 4 and once I started the machine, they ran perfectly until done. Tells me I can start one and work on my other projects at the same time
Sounds like what I use Karen or similar..mine are 4”, i was going to see if I can put 3 or 4 on larger hoop and do them at once..they sure do get addictive.
Mom just called, Sharons son Brian who lives with mom got a call that a friend of his 48 was found dead in bed this morning..doesn’t do drugs so not sure yet why..
Sharon did remember my saying I was hungry for muffins..bought me 6..yummy with hot chocolate and now I don’t have to bake
NO, it's I can hardly FIND the tunnel, let a lone a light! LOL Seriously, I need to step left and choose a new attitude, it is NOT that bad. I just won't be able to handle some of it by myself.
sent earlier post when i realized i had sent it.
Sounds like you have this lace angel thing figured out!! They will be beautiful on your tree.
FREEZING rain, the worst weather there is to drive in11 I am glad you are safely tucked in at home with your muffins and coco!
I was already out and decided to go ahead and drop in at Winco (without my list). Oh my.... only forgot one thing on the list, not bad. BUSY! I bought one fresh turkey and got my 1 free turkey (for buying over $100 worth of groceries). Last year Ben and I got 3 free turkeys by collecting ONE every time we spent $100. Then we cooked them one by one & canned the meat. I probably will just give it frozen to son and not do the canning. I have enough on my plate. Ben was the cook for canning, I only did the grunt work.
I had planned the ornaments as a tuck in giftie for adults as we do not buy adult gifts but we all make something. One makes cookies another candy ,caramel popcorn, I make scramble, Walt makes jerky. I make tuck in. one year the micro, bowls another coffee and snack mat.
As we may not be getting together, I will send them in cards.
Pat you just never stop..I’ve only ever froze turkeys, don’t think I’ve heard of canned turkey, very interesting! Wow it’s easy to spend $100 at holiday time..it must be a big chain that does that..I got a 10 lb Turkey to cook, not for Christmas, I like it better than pork/beef roast and so much you can do with it, was 98 cents a lb. and I thought that was cheap ad here you are getting one for free..amazing.
Karen I was out last week and bought prewound bobbins but in off white..guess a lot of people are doing FSL so have the wind my own bobbins. Your children will love them..I gave Sharon onemthis afternoon..she loved them..wish I could remember where I saw dicronic diamonds..
Just sent a “thinking of you” message to my niece LeeAnn, she made an appointment to have her cat euthanized at 1:00..she said the did everything all weekend that Uno enjoyed doing so I’m sure family are upset.
Just set my alarm for 6:30am for roadside garbage, not that I normally sleep in but Tuesday’s I seem to.
I put in a long day today so no need for sandman, am sure once I press send I’ll fall asleep..night night
I keep wanting to make those mircro bowls, I have the special batting. I really like your family tradition! For several years we did a "homemade gift exchange" on New Years Day. I REALLY liked that. Each participant was to bring ONE homemade gift. One year I did a denim quilt and whispered to my "almost niece" (she is actually my SIL's niece) that she should pick the itty bitty box (I had put just the information in the box & did not wrap the quilt). She was overjoyed that she had trusted me on that one!
Last year we did a fun exchange. We each brought what was our favorite thing. We marked if it was male or female specific. and put them in a pile in the middle of the floor. We each go a number and when it was drawn, we could either choose from the pile or take someone elses. If your was taken away, you then got another choice. It was fun and everyone enjoyed it.
I love those kind of exchanges! Fun and can be soooo silly!! Fun to throw a few "clinkers" in the pile!
OK, most of the "wall" is gone: armoire, entertainment center, bookcases all sold, 1 shelving unit moved (see last picture, the smaller one) 2 more BIG solid wood closets to go. This is my disaster today!! And all kinds of stuff temporarily moved aside while the sorting goes on. I do have 1 new shelving unit in place and one moved one into place (last picture) , I have made SOME progress although the first pictures might lead you to believe otherwise! LOL
Afternoon, overcast day but thankfully no snow.. haven’t checked the weather forecast for the rest of the week.. when you don’t go out there is no need lol
June and Pat came this morning, Pat made an embroidered snowflake and was quite excited, june just wanted to chat.
Those are the traditions Karen that make Christmas extra special..we do sale when we have Christmas and is so much fun..looking at the beautiful lantern I got a couple of years ago, got it in same swap. My siblings and I gave gifts to each otherI a few years ago which had to be made, so loved it, everyone was so creative.
Roger used to tell me that if your name was in the telephone book likely you would get a gift, I love the giving..that part of Christmas won’t change, I’ve almost checked off done on much of my list..
I’ve been knitting for a few hours, ate lunch which will probably do for supper as well, of course I have bran muffins to nibble on.
Pat, you have been busy.
What a transformation Pat wow you have been busy!
Now how much of what was in the unorganized portion did you throw away or were you just able to move things around
Still throwing and donating, some is getting storage unit and paring down.
Morning, had a storm last night so there was shovelling to do, heavy duty wet snow, that being said with missing the grandchildren I went out and and made a snowlady! brought in cedar and the tote of decorations for the fireplace.
So much to do and i am getting side tracked..
Feeling mega pain in shoulder because the boys recommended I used basement entrance which I did but remembered last year the slant towards the door was very icy so have been shovelling earth to cut out the slant, next year I will have it landscaped...need a tad more but will have to wait til later in the day and pain killers kick it..just has to be done..
No wonder your pour shoulder hurts!!!
Beautiful decorations and snow lady.
I agree with Pat. I do believe you have over done things.
Just to put things into perspective re: COVID. Friend of mine's aunt passed away - in her 90's - of a heart attack. They put COVID as the reason, on her death cert. The family is requesting they change it to the real reason. This was confirmed by the Dr.
I got an email from my boss - we're in the "purple enhanced" area, where we have to be either masked or blockaded from each other. She said she'd pay me for the 3 weeks this new ruling is taking effect for. I told her that's ridiculous, and she's going to set up a workspace for me in her living room so I can go back to work on Monday. This is too ridiculous, but she needs an assistant, which is why she hired me.
We can no longer meet anywhere anymore. We had our Christmas lunch at a restaurant yesterday, now we can only have lunches with those we live with, and everything else is cancelled - no Library, Wellness Social Group, or Games.
My masks have been selling, so I'll pick up my cheque on Tuesday, from the consignment store. Need to make more kids' masks apparently.
Ok ladies - let's keep positive and pray that the gov't isn't making this a Communist regime. We need our country back, free & democratic. And lest you think I'm being dramatic, look at what they're telling us we need to do, with no input from us. My daughter says they "have our back" and "can't be telling us everything because we'd be in a panic" C'mon.......... we're adults, and we raised in a democratic country (ies - including the States). We have the right to know & be heard, no matter what it is. Ok, rant over.
Susan, it is frustrating, I agree. I do NOT agree with the assignment of "Covid" when it is not. I believe in honest reporting. The numbers we are getting are at the best, a wild guess. Because of under testing and the problem you just cited, nothing is as clear as it SHOULD BE. I do believe we need to get this behind us and it would be a whole us faster if we would all Comply and wear the stupid masks. I do think they help but they are most effective when we ALL wear them.
The CDC came out several months ago, and said that only 6% of all the covid death cases are actually just covid. All others had underlying conditions.
I personally know several people that had registered to get a test, and after waiting in line for hours, they decided to go home. A week later, they all got letters, stating their test came back positive. They never got the test.
Here in the US, every hospital gets $16,000 per postive case reported.
Pat - I make masks, but I also have told people they're best if they only wear them 20 minutes at a time. We need to do what our bodies were made to do - expel "dirty" air and breathe outside air. Otherwise we're breathing in what we are meant to have Leave our bodies. Like "sick building" syndrome, remember that?
Linda - I've seen where several test swabs have been put in the same plastic bags with others, and then if one's positive the others are too even if the human does Not have COVID.
WHY are they wanting people to be afraid, and WHY are they saying "positive" when it's a negative or NO result because the test wasn't taken? Fear......... we're becoming nations that are afraid of each other "I don't know who you've seen or where you've been" mentality is NOT going to help us get back to normal. We need to stay POSITIVE and not allow fear to run our lives.
Boy, I'm ranting today, but it's because I'm mad.
It’s a mish mash for sure but I believe it is life threatening so will guard myself..think I’ve enough food for a few weeks so won’t go out, Mel and SHARON said they would pick up anything I need.
Well all of a sudden it got milk, think my snowlady will be no more, calling for rain tomorrow..
Happy Thanksgiving !!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone..hoping that all your families wether they come or stay amongst themselves enjoy and stay safe.
2-3” of flooding in basement, actually sick to my stomach but am making headway and plumber on its way
