LK I don't blame you for being angry. I too would be incensed.
best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit awhile and visit..newcomers always welcome
How long will it take for Todd to get his testing back? I imagine he cannot go back to work until he gets cleared.
Dianne it was much the same here this morning weather wise..aren’t we lucky we can make ourselves comfy, warm blanket on our knees while out furries lay beside us.
I started the car, put my boots and coat on then decided I wouldn’t go out.
Got the 7 neck warmers done, maybe this weekend I will get the Hyde put on
Already in bed, I’m thankful that I’ve just pain 8n shoulders, hip and knees but I can use my hands..blessed for that.

“WORDS”...words create realities! Sign me up for this one...
T’was a month before Christmas,
And all through the town,
People wore masks,
That covered their frown.
The frown had begun
Way back in the Spring,
When a global pandemic
Changed everything.
They called it corona,
But unlike the beer,
It didn’t bring good times,
It didn’t bring cheer.
Contagious and deadly,
This virus spread fast,
Like a wildfire that starts
When fueled by gas.
Airplanes were grounded,
Travel was banned.
Borders were closed
Across air, sea and land.
As the world entered lockdown
To flatten the curve,
The economy halted,
And folks lost their nerve.
From March to July
We rode the first wave,
People stayed home,
They tried to behave.
When summer emerged
The lockdown was lifted.
But away from caution,
Many folks drifted.
Now it’s November
And cases are spiking,
Wave two has arrived,
Much to our disliking.
Frontline workers,
Doctors and nurses,
Try to save people,
From riding in hearses.
This virus is awful,
This COVID-19.
There isn’t a cure.
There is no vaccine.
It’s true that this year
Has had sadness a plenty,
We’ll never forget
The year 2020.
And just ‘round the corner -
The holiday season,
But why be merry?
Is there even one reason?
To decorate the house
And put up the tree,
When no one will see it,
No-one but me.
But outside my window
The snow gently falls,
And I think to myself,
Let’s deck the halls!
So, I gather the ribbon,
The garland and bows,
As I play those old carols,
My happiness grows.
Christmas ain’t cancelled
And neither is hope.
If we lean on each other,
I know we can cope.

A talented poet Robin Banks, wrote this brilliant poem. She’s an amazing singer/songwriter, and has written here a poem of hope. Something we need more than ever right now
The entire night shift had to close down, as that is the shift the guy worked. Todd is not in quarantine. He was told to go to work, unless he is showing any symptoms. It is too early for any testing. They said wait about 8 to 10 days. Todd works on the ejection seats, so if too many more get sick, the base will have to stop the pilots from training.
Betty I don't take my temp. I'm so cold all the time, I would welcome a bit of fever. JK.
All my kids gifts done. Just making ornaments. I think I'll bring the machine up and do them here as it's warmer and I can get other chores done while they are running instead of just sitting in that cold basement.
Well lets hope LIndakay the base wont get closed..guess sometimes the symptoms are close to the flu when you are strong enough to fight it off so some believe it’s the flu and go in, that being said, shouldn’t be going anywhere with flue either.
Dianne must have kept the sandman at her house for tea, sure hasn’t made it to my house.
Pretty well done with Christmas here as well Karen bringing embroidery machine upstairs. As for temp I. Always freezing then at times the sweats, too old for change of life.often run a temperature because of kidney but I always know when it’s that.
Going to try sleep but just might get up, need a special gift for Darlene and John, have to see if I’ve the supplies and if I can pull it off..I could always take a nap mid morning
Well I got some good news and I am going to Michigan. My grandson is getting married an the 20th and there is not much that can keep me away. He has enlisted and goes to basic on the 7th of Jan. so they just decided kind of last minute to go ahead and get married. I'm over the moon, Alicia is just adorable, I love her very much. They are a good match.
Those neck warmers look nice.
Karen, please stay safe while traveling.
Betty - my toes aren't TOO bruised lol
LK - you have my prayers for Todd, of course
Christmas parties of up to 900 people in the government? THAT's sick, let alone the illness that can be caused by it. We aren't supposed to have parties - pretty much close down Christmas for the common folk, but those in government can "party hearty"? not right, nor fair.
I've finished the prayer shawl for my boss. Wish I'd gotten it done for the anniversary of her husband's passing, but it's still getting to her.
Afternoon, just out fireplace on..brrr can’t seem to warm up.
Tis good news for you Karen as long as it does not turn tragic..you hear of so many weddings that end up with deaths regardless of the precautions they take..I’m sure to you it’s worth the chance and would be so disappointed not to go so can only pray your travels and gathering will be ok and safe.
Sharon called and said she made stew and drop dumplings, for me to not cook supper as she will drop off a meal.
Wait8ng for Greg, I’m so over the top re my water situation, although the plumber and Greg said there was no need to put the battery operated alarm Darlene had given me so many years ago I did..don’t trust the pumps...well at 7 this morning I was in deep sleep but could hear the alarm, must have been going for awhile, water was right to the top, just shy of flooding..big sigh..not sure what to heck they can do, new pumps, new system etc..they are without answers, now I’m afraid they won’t turn out..
oh Betty - glad you thought about putting up the alarm! Take a deep breath, and ask the perennial question "in 5 years, will this matter?" and relax - do what you can, and assign the rest to Greg & the plumber.
Betty that flooding dilemma needs seems to end!
Karen, good news about the upcoming marriage. Enjoy your trip.
Solves another dilemma for me too. Every year the band sells citrus. It is so very good and I order a bunch to take up north. Well I was thinking I would have to try and find a place to donate most of it but now I can still take it north.
Sorry to hear that you are still having flood problems Betty. Praying they find a solution for it.
Good to find another blessing in your upcoming travels Karen.
Stars just wrote a novel, pressed send and nowhere to be found..must get used to copying before sending.
I’m comfy 8n bed, tired so won’t restyle all tonight.
Did ask Karen though if it’s a large wedding and will they stay for Christmas
Pat, what are you up to?
Finished quilting and made flange binding for it, will sew it on tomorrow..like it enough I wouldn’t mind making one for me
Evening all,
Hope all is well with all of you..

Its so fustrating , i miss not being able to go to beach, joanns, visiting. Im praying for 2021 to be somewhat normal..

Very small just a very few people and all are wearing masks.
Glad to hear you are well although being confined...
You are able to go to work Liz?
There was a documentary today I found very interesting.. I must say I’ve only just seen one person out and about not wearing a mask..our numbers although they say are bad here they are nothing in comparison to you.
Really made so Joann’s, Christmas tree store and Cracker Barrel..
Omg a memory just came to me, remember when we were in Chicago at judy’s And we went touring, I said let’s go to Cracker Barrel for lunch and you thought it was a cheese place lol. We went to a park and there was a big selebration, a lotof music, wondering if it was July 4th??
The construction is to start tomorrow. I am having some problems with getting an electrician but the one I have used in the past states he will stop in next weekend. Notice he did NOT say, "start work"! It will be what it is. Looks like I will living with a half done project for a while and then endure a lot of the mess a 2nd time. Likely will have to put up only 1 side of the sheetrock and then have to wait on the electrician. I will know more next weekend.
My granddaughter went home today, she & my son Adam have been here since Thursday while he worked locally. I will likely get a grandson starting Thursday. I am trying to help them all make presents for each other. My thought was to have them make gifts for each other but when offered up the projects and letting her choose who to make a gift for, she chose her stepfather (my son Adam!). She made a fleece throw blanket. She did all the work on it, cutting, sewing & tying. She was so happy to put the tissue around it, drop it in the box ready to wrap!
I researched and downloaded a fleece slipper pattern but my darn printer is not playing friendly. I will have to ask Marie to print it for me.
Wednesday I will work with Marie to get the dolls bagged and ready for donation. Not sure how many we have this year. We basically stopped buying them for the most part when the pandemic hit.
We'll see how the week plays out.
Betty, I love that panel. I have the truck panel. Just need to buy red fabric.
Hey Liz. Nice to see you pop in. Sorry to hear your area is so bad. It's getting bad here too. But our governor so far has refused to shut things down. He said people have the right to go to work.
Pat, sorry to hear that you can't get an electrician when you need him. Hopefully you don't have to wait too long.
I am going to have to swallow my pride and ASK my nephew directly for HIS help. He KNOWS I need an electrician, gave me the name of one but HE never volunteered. Yea, he is a journeyman electrician.
It is what it is and I had better just buck up. The upheaval of construction is NEVER good for my peace of mind. The disorganization, debris, loss of tidiness Not being able to easily find the things I need, it ALL just messes with my mind. Add in all the uncertainty of my son & family... yep, I'm a basket case.
Pat, so can empathize with you, some things we just can’t do on our own and have to call out to those who are capable and able to help us.
Greg dropped in to check on the pumps,my problem is the new commercial one moves a tad when going on/off thus it moved and the float got caught in the other pumps and didn’t come on..he took a wrench belt and secured it to freezer until he can come back tomorrow with metal strapping, easy fix (I hope).
Can’t believe I was as energized as I was today with very little sleep last night due to pump situation and severed pain in upper back, that I’m sure was muscle stress, sat with heating pad all morning, got the Hyde on neck warmers for John, have 2 for Paul to sew on then they are done..also got the flange binding on the country panel, I’m fond of this piece, hate to give it away as a Christmas present...also machine embroidered #3 of 7 panel, the santa’s Surf shack, tomorrow will get Santa and snowman on the beach done..going to be close in finishing but am confident I will make it.
Sharon brought more stew for Greg and I, she cooks like her sister, cooks for 10 instead of one...she brought me baby monitor so I could hear pump alarm should it go off, Greg says it’s ok but im not so sure after all the problems..
Mel dropped in for a bit, is nice seeing humans lol
Have stew in micro, will have an early supper and maybe get comfy in bed, tired
Hope you all managed to get through the day
So that was my day
I am finally on here. I lurk every day but not much to talk about. I have decoded not to sell my home. Everything has gone through the roof in price and no reason for me to leave my beautiful home. I had the three very large sumac trees removed and cut out about 80 percent of clean-up in the garden. This will change the complete climate of the garden and I will need to get educated on that. I am still cleaning out the house but that could go on for years.
My daughter's 3 sons came over last week and unpacked all of my Christmas decorations. And then put the boxes back. Only took them 2 hours. It would have taken me days. I had a blast going through each item and memories kept flooding back.
My granddaughter and great granddaughter are in town until the end of the year. He husband is also with them. She works for Adobe from home an he is studying for medical first year finals so they locked up their condo and headed West. My DD, GD and GGD came over this evening and walked the dogs with me.
My house keeper was here all day and my home looks marvelous. My backyard backs on the greenbelt and right behind my house is the tot lot with swings and equipment for the little ones to play on. I have a weeping mulberry tree which is perfect to decorate for the kids and then right behind the tree is the raised fire pit. Another place to place Christmas and holiday decorations.
Betty, my mother's house flooded all the time and my bothers dug a trench around the house and diverted the water. They also asked the county to divert the water higher up in her area. Told them if they said no, I was going to sue them. I guess I am the big bad wolf. Maybe they need to increase the size of the drainage pipe.
I love your truck. I saw some plates in Michael's that had the same design. It was in their flier.
My son, his wife and son got Covid but were not very sick. He's a doctor so they think he got it at work and brought it home. My daughter's mother-in-law died 2 weeks ago from an aneurysm. So my her youngest son, 17, texts me every night to make sure I am OK. I am the last grandma. She was 85.
I have many coleus cutting in my garage. The majority re rooted. Next step is to plant them in pest moss and perlite. After this part is where I usually fail. Wish me luck.
Karen, I am so pleased you are able to go to your grandson's wedding.
This was Boots yesterday checking out some of the decorations for the tot lot.
I am watching The Crown. At the par where they are going into the falcon islands.
Hello Sharon. Nice to see you posting. Sounds like you are keeping busy. Glad to hear your son and family had mild cases of covid.
All those decorations are going to be beautiful.
Linda, I knew I would forget everyone. I have been reading you on Coffee whatever. We were 70 degrees today and it was a beautiful day.
The little kids love the decorations. They are by est critiques. Henry is 1 and it talks to the tree every morning when he comes to the tot lot with his nanny. Makes all of my decorating special.
So nice of you to decorate the tot lot. I know it makes them smile.
Your Boots is hoping that with enough photo opts some agency will pick him for a REAL modeling gig! Pretty kitty!
Evening all, thought I’d drop in with a hi before I go soak
So love your decorations Sharon, not a wonder neighbours stop by..see some pieces I’d love to have here. Thanks for the suggestion, think diverting water will be my 2021 project along with new roof, big sigh
Greg has a giant coleus his been growing in his office, he is so excited about the size, he brought me a cutting 9n Sunday..can guarantee I will kill it before spring..do they like wet or dry feet.
Yep, Boots knew all camera eyes were on him lol
Karen, did you get your embroidery machine repaired?
Lindakay, how is the Covid battle going at hubby’s work?
Woke up and checked tv for time as I had to get garbage to roadside, saw 7, lordy they come at 7, looked out and they hadn’t passed yet, got all to the roadside, came in and made coffee, sat down and Drats it was 5:45..my t.v. Shows time the show is over so a movie must have started at 5:30 and the 7 is when it would end..shaking my head... downstairs I went and got 2 trees, 2 ornaments and a snowflake machine embroidered before the girls got here, they left at 1 and off to town I went, with the increase Covid cases in our midland hospital I decided to do my entire Christmas order, made an order for fruit tray, ordered a tray of sweets last week so if the shut us down like they say they will I will be well fed. John who is in real estate just dropped in for his neckwarmers, was saying lockdown close at hand..
Went to 5 places looking for wet oasis, none..wended up driving to Elmvale, bought 10 just in case along with other greenery..I’ll pick one day towards end of next week to make arrangement, by then I can buy fresh cut flowers to go in them and they will last til Christmas.
Couldn’t decide which ornament to buy for Roger’s ornament 2020, liked both so bought both.
With my shoulder and back in bad shape, not being able to wear winter coat wore heavy sweater which made it worse then add carrying all in all grocery bags I can barely move.
Didn’t go downstairs yet so don’t know if Greg has been here or not, once I bathe in Epson salt I will go shut everything downstairs and call it a night.
Jeff’s birthday today, called and spoke with him early this morning, he was already hard at work, said he was getting mega calls, he was on a downer, he had to let 40 of his employees go so many wanting to talk with him...I asked why he couldn’t wait till after Christmas, said it just wouldn’t be fair, people out buying, overspending only to f8nd out in the New Year you don’t have a job, no easy way..one was Rogers sister’s son who has a handicap, great worker but doesn’t talk much, no social skills..he emailed Gail to warn her as he wasn’t sure of how Bradly would take it, soooo Jeff himself was taking all of it to heart.
Timing is everything Betty. A local woman had the same machine for sale for an excellent price. I went and got it and am sewing merrily away. I knew I wouldn't get my machine back in time to finish. I'll take mine in for repair after the holidays and then decide which to keep and which to sell. The one I bought has a ton of accessories that mine didn't have and some I really wanted. Plus a gazillion bobbins.
Oh Karen, "got a new machine!!" NICE!
It's tough to let people go, there is NO good time and I totally agree with the reasoning of doing it NOW. The employees will also have the TIME with family before Christmas and that is worth something, or it sure would have been to me.
Morning, roads look icy, not sure it wants to snow or freezing rain, doesn’t much matter as I’m inside...do have to make a quick trip to pharmacy for meds though, I’ll call this morning and have them make up my order and be there in the morning when he opens or tonight just before closing..less people.
How exciting for you Karen, good Lord looking after your sewing needs seeing you overwork your machines for the good of others.
Pat, the hardest part b3cause of Covid and numbers rising is it was done through head office via email..I think it’s wrong but times are different with Covid looming.
Our news say there will be an announcement at 1, bet it's lockdown.. june’s Daughter is an police guard at the heavy security jail in Penetanguishene, few miles from us and they were told they were not to bring in prisoners, they are on overload and they would have to try Barrie , Orillia Collingwood or other areas so wouldn’t doubt worse for our areas to come.
Taking my coffee downstairs, I a quilt to sew flangebind8ng on, put Hyde on 2 neckpieces, embroider Santa in his sleigh pulled by dolphins and hopefully another set of lace ornaments..now I know with my pain I’ll not get it all done but am going to try lol
What are in your plans everyone..
Marie & I are working on the dolls, getting them ready to donate. Not sure how many we have, certainly not as many as years past. I will be glad to get that done & gone, although maybe not as much as Marie since most of it has been stored at her house!
I was able to talk with my nephew last night and the short of it is, I can put up ONE side of the wall and finish it but the rest will just have to wait for the electrician. I am told that could be a LONG wait, they are VERY busy right now. It is what it is and I just need to suck it up.
Adam & grandson Aiden will come on Thursday. Adam has work Thursday, Friday & Saturday, probably Sunday. Aiden goes to his mother's on Friday so I will have his company Thursday and Friday. We will be working on Christmas gifts when he is not working on homework. That leaves 2 more grandkids to have over to work on gifts IF they want to. They say they do but who knows if they will make it happen. If not, it will not because tI did not give them opportunity. I have been rounding up supplies and ideas. Samantha got a tied fleece blanket made for Adam has week.
Hoping to finish up today with the embroidery part. Then need to soak off the WSS and let dry. then to put in cards and mail. I'll get the cards done while they are drying so just a matter of poking into cards and sending off. By end of week for sure.
The oranges I ordered from the band came yesterday. They are a bit smaller but oh so sweet and good. Trying hard to limit myself to one a day.
who's got the bubble suit now? I should have had it yesterday. VERY icy out yesterday, but I chose to walk, and the worst ice was in our Park. I was literally 6" from bare pavement when I fell. Left upper thigh means it's very sore to sit, so I sit sideways. Plust I'm on UTI meds and my tummy is telling me it doesn't like it. Take it with food, but yesterday I had to take 8 pills all separately, with food. I didd, but even so, my tummy isn't happy.
I've been off all well because of the UTI,and now with the HUGE bruise & (more than) a goose egg on my thigh........... yeah, I'm miserable.
Oh Susan, accidents do happen but a lot of time we should drive vs walking..it’s that kind of day here, almost all snow is gone and we just have to know when it freezes we elders will be in trouble..not that the younger ones can’t fall but they can recoup easily and not break bones.. from the sounds of it you are lucky..maybe a few days with feet up will do you good, sit and knit, crochet or hand sew.
Karen. Mouth watering for a good sweet orange, mom was telling me she spent $4.80 on 3 seedless oranges and they were full of seeds. Nwhen I was looking at those little crates of oranges 1/2 were rotten so I bought canned oranges, not the same as fresh but tasty.
I just packed up 3 boxes of a set of 4..although it doesn’t feel like Christmas I am pretty well done, all but the Floridian Santa quilt.
Pat, I sure miss having the grandsons over to do their pressies for their folks, envy you, am sure the enjoy it and good company for you.. deep breath, soon your project will be over and you will be a happy camper
Sharon just left, wanted help trimming her quilt blocks...was having trouble, she didn’t see that the block was a finish 12” but had to at this point be 12 1/2” so with a few fives it will soon be 8n the frame
Bought soup yesterday, tried Campbell’s cream of potato and bacon, got to tell you,was good as any home made and you just open a can.
As I sit here I can feel my head get heavier and heavier, know I shouldn’t but a nap wouldn’t hurt...really shouldn’t as I’m 1/2 way fronthe Santa in his sleigh pulled by dolphins, oh well I can go finish it later.
I had a good day. Susan, so sorry you fell. If I lived somewhere it got icy, I would either have to move or stay inside. I have enough trouble walking on a dry walkway.,
Garden helper will be here tomorrow and repair a few outdoor lights, and put the Christmas lights up in the back landscape. Then we will check and see if the coleus cuttings have enough roots to plant into soil.
My great granddaughter is in town with her parents and m daughter, granddaughter and baby have been coming every afternoon to walk the dogs with me. My daughter's mother-in-law's memorial and burial is tomorrow. She was 85. She died from an aneurysm.
My son and his family survived the COVID and are back to normal.. Las Vegas has so many dining shops shutting down and a lot of them will not reopen.
I am doing well. I am much comfort that I have decided not to sell my home. I am still purging but have eliminated the panic to get it done now. I will slowly get it done over the next 2 years and then really downsize to a nice high rise condo with a nice large veranda looking at the mountains. Then my garden can be in pots on the veranda. I will make sure to have guest room so you all come by to visit.
I cannot respond to sewing or machines, because that is a foreign language to me.
I have finished watching the Crown. Enjoyed it. You fel sorry for Prince Charles, loath him and have mixed feeling through the whole series. I love the Queen but they paint her as a monster when it comes to her motherly skills.
Time for me to go to bed. Hugs to all of you. Sharon
Susan, sorry to hear about your fall. Thankfully it sounds like your healing should not be complicated.
Betty, I am looking forward to seeing your Santa quilt, sounds quite delightful & fun!
Sharon, I am happy to hear that you are making your current home easier to maintain and will remain there longer.
Marie & I spent the day working on packing up the dolls. We did not finish but only have another dozen to do. We will then go thru all the leftover clothes & reorganize them to determine where we are. I can't believe how many clothes we have left over.... but it should not be a surprise to me. I had been sewing clothes like crazy after Christmas before Covid hit and we put the project on hold. We went into this year with probably 20 or more bags ready to have a doll dropped in, the wardrobes already coordinated and kitted up.
good night all!
Morning all, cool damp day other than getting cold in the bones it’s a good day..
Wonderful that you’ve family dropping in daily Sharon, something to look forward to..checked my coleus, soil seems awfully packed, wonder if I should work it up a bit?
Would you be able to take a photo of your front lit up? Would love to see it..
I enjoy enjoyed the Crown as well, am watching another British series from time to time when I can find it, aristocrats seem not to be that loving?? At least in the series..
What on earth will you do with yourself Pat when the dolls and Reno’s are done.
I’ve been up since 5:30am, not a wonder I’m in bed early..
I’d say by noon I’m right up to my goal, even thinking of trying to do the fisherman panel for godson Paul, put the hyde on his neck-warmers so if I could get the throw done I could give him his Christmas present as well.
How are things going today Susan, not as sore.
Debbie, checking in on you and the furries??
Liz, will you be having time off at Christmas?
What are you working on Lindakay?
Karen, it’s getting close, you are leaving when and returning when weather permitting?
Lots of messaging going on re Christmas, guess final decision will be made days before. Big sigh
I’m actually going to get dressed today, hurrah for me
