best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit awhile and visit..newcomers always welcome

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

This morning I had a routine visit to my Oncologist, should have been a quick in and out and I was hoping to get a haircut too. Well, It didn't go as planned. I asked him for a reference for repairing my trigger finger on my right hand. Both are bad but it's the worst. At times I cannot even hold silverware or cut food on my plate, and of course it's affecting my sewing. He had his own agenda wanting me to see a gastro dr. again as he feels I'm leaking blood again. Then he said my iron is way low and he wanted me to have an infusion today and another next week. He scheduled todays but next will be after I come back from Michigan. I hadn't eaten because They always do labs. Then another almost two hours for the infusion. By the time hubby came for me I was feeling a bit shaky. We went right away to eat and I said I still wanted to get my haircut. Had to wait a bit for that. by the time we got home I was just exhausted. Still had to do a bit of laundry and our packing. Not hungry enough to eat again so I had a nice big naval orange. No clue when we will get on the road tomorrow but we are in no rush.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

WOW, you were RUSHING! But you got a lot done! Best of wishes with your travel and the wonderful wedding.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thats a lot to do in one day.
Have a safe trip Karen.

Betty, sending prayers for Sharon and Joanne.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, not snowing so that is great as I have a 9am perm appt. having a perm will surely raise my spirits..

Karen you had quite a day of it, do you not worry about going when the doctor says you are bleeding and your system is down?? Do worry about you big time. Be safe!!

Susan, getting goodies always heartfelt..Pat and June dropped in for an hour yesterday with gifts in hand, Pat knows me, chocolates and a roll of wash away for embroidery, June bought me the cutest Christmas sign, a plate and a mini cast iron frying pan that is filled with a package of goodie to cook with chocolate to add to it, once used it will be a one egg frying pan..

Dianne, you did mention about the high schools and various other groups but it’s a no go, high school is in midland and they take the bus at 7:30..aren’t many kids in my Refugio’s who are over 10..it’s not hard on me unless we get a foot at a time and snow is heavy.

I do not know what I do with iPad cords but I break them at the plug, gave out on me in the morning, was going to wait till this morning to go to Walmart but I though at 7:30pm it should be quieter so went in, back in business..gee whiz it’s hard without an I pad..guess I could use the laptop but not the same.

Greg called me last night to see how the pumps were making out, so far so good..he wanted me to know that Melanie had been in the hospital a few weeks ago, pains in her chest but she has been unwell since,Moshe went to get a Covid test and now she and Greg are housebound until results come back

Best I warm up the car, soon time to leave

Be back to check up on you all later

Hope you are having a sunshine day

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Life would be easier if you had some help more readily available to you Betty. I know I count my blessings with the family in my neighborhood that make hiring help so easy.

I spent until 8:30 PM last night working at my sister's helping her make a blue velvet dress for her granddaughter. NOT a project I would choose. I was afraid without help she would not get it done. She left for the store to get satin ribbon for the tie when I left last night. She only had to add tie & hem when I left.

Marie & I drive to referral specialist appointment today, for Marie. We are hoping we will finish in time to drive back & not have to spend the night, it's only 3.5 hours away but this time of year you never know.... we are each packing a bag "just in case". Wish I did not have to take my Cpap unit!! Marie has had some severe stomach issues for LONG time and not been very successful in finding answers.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lets hope you get answers, now that is a long drive.
A night away might be nice for you both, cpap units are fairly compact, know Suzanne always brings hers when we travel... any fabric shops around lol

Lordy did I get a hair cut and fuzzy wuzzy perm, she mentioned she would close the month of January just incase Covid numbers get higher over Christmas because of people visiting so thought cut it off, be February it should be good length

Working on that Floridian quilt, am sure the people who design these packages should know 7 designs don’t work, 8 or 9 do. What to do what to do??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, did the doctor ever come to see you. Can't they do surgery to fix your problem?
Sorry to hear than Melanie isn't doing well. Sending lot's of prayers.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

The specialist appointment went well and Marie has follow up to start the whole testing & lab to begin the process of qualifying for surgery. She is hopeful, and THAT is a good start!
We elected to come straight home, after leaving her off at home, I stopped and picked up dinner & was home before 8.30PM. Tired and Stanley needs some cuddling then going to bed!
I am sure that Spokane is bursting with fabric and quilt stores (population 226K) and it is where she & I go to buy shoes but not this trip.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hope everyone's keeping well.

Yesterday I went to my Dr to talk about a recent medication treatment, and while there showed him my boo-boo on my leg. He almost gasped and set me up for bloodwork & a CT scan right away. Had the bloodwork same day, and the CT scan today. He's concerned about clots breaking free & going where they shouldn't. That happened to my mom when she broke her hip (about 15 years ago?) and one went to her brain & she had a stroke. Anyway - Dr should have the results of the scan in 2-3 days. It was like a ghost town in the hospital - hardly anyone there! From the time I stepped into Emerg, to the time I left, it was only 20 minutes. Over an hour drive each way, but worth it to find out what's up..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying you get good results Susan.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon everyone, sunshine day here but -12 brrrr

Busy day, got to audio ear office in medical centre in midland for 9 but appointment wasn’t til 9:30..previous client was late so they took me, was home by 9:45am

Drove onto office at 1 to do our annual Christmas craft and luncheon, girls are out on a mission for Paul so I’m watching hallmark movies lol..pizza I brought will be cold.

Of course carrying the craft supplies and wearing a sweater I can barely move..had a little container of cod oil took a drop of it, had cod cream, rubbed that on me..then put my foggy in microwave hoping I’ll ease the pain..can hardly move

Oops there are the girls, be back when I get home..

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

What is a foggy?

Victoria Harbour, ON

My froggy , darn auto correct
Just got home, hot bath for me

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Ohhhhhhhhh... you have froggy neck warmer you were going to nuke/warm. Got it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, oops afternoon everyone...so nice out, sun is strong..was a great morning to go shopping..9-1pm and our goal of making 3 family Christmas baskets..each got 2..SHARON just delivered them and said it made her cry, 2 of the women fighting cancer, no job and worrying where their next meal was coming from..
Besides gifts the got fixings for Christmas morning breakfast, Christmas turkey dinner, and meal and fixings for New Years ..feels good, sometimes one gets down on themselves then you see others, think it’s our responsibility to make sure all are fed...

Tired, bought 2 large bunches of flowers to put in arrangements, should really start them this afternoon but tired myself so maybe a project for the morning, here is hoping all that greenery picked and bought didn’t dry up in my car, if it did then I will have a nice Christmas bouquet lol

Susan, blood clots can be so dangerous, did they give you blood thinners, seems tome you are already on thinners?? Emergency rooms certainly are efficient during Covid..we’ve Covid patients in our hospital so unless you are critical they are suggesting that people go to clinics.

Pat, nice to hear all went well, that was a reasonable hour to get home, bet you were in bed shortly after arriving home... always nice to sleep in your own bed.

Karen, by now I’m sure you are at your destination, enjoying family..wonderful for you, don’t overdo

With crafting with my nieces yesterday, then shopping and making baskets today I’m tired out.

Wouldn’t hurt to have a nap but if I do that it it for the day

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That looks like they all had a good time.
Bless you for giving baskets to those in need.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We never know when we will be the answer to someone else's prayer. It feels good.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was tired, came to bed just after 5, mom called twice to chat,,going to try 1mote time lol
Guess she is lonely

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - by now you're likely all tucked away in bed, with sleep angels around you (I hope).

I talked to my Dr this morning, and he says the hematoma is small, and not deep so he's happy about that. The fact that the bruising is going down to my ankle is good - it's not breaking off & going up, which would be serious. He told me also that the swelling around my ankles is normal, that I should put my feet up & drinking more water isn't the issue. The bruising is starting to go away thank goodness. It took over 3/4 of my left leg & with me being on Warfarin, that seemed serious to me. But, what do I know - I'm not a Dr hahaha
He just cautioned that I don't fall again because that could seriously injure the hematoma and cause a real clotting issue.
This morning I got some sad news - Doug (our friend that came to visit us for 9 days this past July) passed away last night, peacefully, at the hospital. With all of the isolation, I'm glad he was at the hospital. Living along in an apartment block as he did, who knows when he would be noticed to be gone. He had leukemia.
His brother phoned me from NS this morning, to tell me. I've now told Doug's church, our friends in common and now will call his phone/internet provider, because I'm on the account to do anything with the account. He was a kind, gentle, and happy soul and really missed being around people during COVID. It was very depressing for him. I suppose that may be ONE reason why he checked into the hospital, other than the obvious reasons. He felt cared for there.

Your sleep angel forgot to drop in Susan..here I am wide awake...

Easier said than done this bit about not falling, you will have to be extremely cautious with the sno and ice..best to stay in.

Sad news about Doug, you both were great friends to him..you will cherish your last visit for sure..condolences.

Local views has been suggesting that shortly we will be on long ckdown, best they do that for 2-3 weeks in hopes it helps Covid numbers lower til we can get vaccine.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm being VERY careful, Betty
Sorry that your sleep angel missed you - maybe the angel felt you were an angel & didn't need more angelic care?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, was up early, actually mild out there..

Susan, there are bound to be some who have reactions, odd that the 2 bad ones are from Alaska, maybe not stirred correctly, am sure they will research

Was up really early, drove to Sharons as she ran out of light grey aurafil, she was still in bed so left it at her door, then yesterday I saw 2 downed trees from the storm so decided to go cut branches, right now my back entrance is full of greenery, hoping by noon the arrangements I need will be done..now to f8nd the decorations and ribbon

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, waiting for daybreak so I can see what kind of weather we will have,
I’ve 3 more arrangements to make, making it 10..

Was a blizzard yesterday so couldn’t deliver those done, hoping to do so at crack of dawn so I have the day to work on other projects...

The ones that are upstairs need a little sprinkle of snow..not florist standards but hopefully they will like them.

Not fond of pink in some of the arrangement but when you purchase packets of flowers youget what they give.

Am sure you are all sleeping, rest well my friends

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I saw your arrangements on Facebook. They are beautiful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you, all total I made ten, walked around the house with a flower arrangement with no place to set it..nicer in real time..,recipients loved them...I’ll maybe take a run to midland tomorrow and get rid of another tomorrow weather permitting.

Lordy, they wait until Christmas Eve midnight to go in lockdown..angers me, most obey rules, others don’t and now we can’t have Christmas with our families...grrrr
Called and cancelled mom and Jeff and Sharon..Greg and Mel knew as well and are sticking to new regulations..here is hoping we can have Christmas in July with our families...

Are you numbers improving?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No. Our numbers are slowly going up. So sad.

Victoria Harbour, ON

What colour zone are you in Lindakay?

Ours took dramatic rise as well, hard to explain to mom that it is not that I don’t want her here but at her age it’s taking a big chance..I told her a few weeks away to commit to quarantining herself and it would be ok to come, that was before grey zone being announced today but every day she is telling me where she has been, yesterday it was at a galleria, she was excited about buying me Christmas things for Christmas, wonderful but gee whiz STAY home, be so glad when Christmas is over.

She referred to my being out yesterday,Myers I was, dropped the arrangement off at their door and left, no visits,

I do have to say though,I have not seen one person out without a mask and when gatherings of families in red zone still wear masks, some even making bonfire as to gather..

We have Boxing Day, like you Black Friday..think stores should be charged if they promote sales and encourage people to go I.e. Walmart..should be food only.

Once I hear what Premier Ford says at 1 I might see what is permissible...maybe have an outdoor dinner by the fire pit for no more that 1 hour with chairs well spaced??? Wouldn’t have to go buy food, already have all I need to put,9n a good meal..maybe Christmas Eve before red turns 8nto grey at midnight

Heard England has another strain..

Know we are all tired of talking about it, but talk we must because what others do it puts all our lives in danger.

Mind working overtime to see how it could be worked.

Mom thinks I’m being overly cautious, not sure she would think that if she caught it.

Verona, ON

Good morning.

Betty you are absolutely NOT being overcautious. I applaud you for self isolating. Remember you want to see everyone next Christmas. If your mother has been out and about especially in Toronto she has been exposed to an area that has had the highest surge in the province.

Usually I tosh up the lane for a drink at Kieran's place and usually stay just an hour. This year I will not be going at all. Kieran and his sister work at Foodland PT and even though they wear a mask I will not risk it.

We have snow but it is mild around 35*.It snowed most of the day yesterday. It is a great packing snow. I'll wait for a couple of hours before I go up he lane to make my last run of he year to Foodland and get my mail. After that I am in !!!

Kai's breeder sent me more photos - eyes are open and he has really big feet. lol

Stay safe and well .

Victoria Harbour, ON

How exciting Dianne, love the name..when will he come to be part of your family, oh oh big feet, big dog lol. How will all the furries in your home take to a new puppy? Will be a fun time for you all.

Watched weather and think all of us are in for much the same..the heavy Saturday snow is almost slush this morning, won’t be pretty is it freezes..

Just spoke with Melanie, she thinks as we are all doing our own thing and Sharon and I allowed to be in each other’s company that maybe mom could come up..finding trying to work things out with family is sooo overwhelming, heart is broken.

Just going to do my hair then have to clean my craft room and get it cleaned up

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I will pick up the grandkids from their bio-other parent and then deliver them to my son Adam & wife 2 hours away in Wooten. I am not even going to see my sister. It is what it is.

"be care and not fall", like we want to? Or we are just careless? LOL... yikes!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

/they just announced Greg will be midnight on Christmas night

Was told that Walmart will close all the store except for pharmacy and grocery area, 5hat is good

YIKES.... this just drags on forever it seems. NOT getting better.

So as my purchases get delivered, some direct to recipients and others to me, I have had MOSTLY success. Unfortunately the $8 chlorestic spray leaked on the $64 probiotics, all were intended to ship to China, Thankfully when I contacted Amazon, they agreed to credit me for the chlorestoc AND the probiotics. It would not have been a big deal if the probiotics were not planned to be shipped to China. I don't want them hassling over the "damp" box. SIGH, at least it was not something I needed before Christmas right??

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Even though Alberta's #s are going down, it's now getting to where people are being threatened. There's a couple driving around in their car, taking down info on people - even on farms they've been seen driving into their yards. They're obviously getting paid for "ratting" on people.
People are getting fines for eating in a food court in Calgary, far away from the counter or anyone, because they aren't wearing their mask (while EATING?). One fella was waiting for his wife, and Security told him he had to leave the mall right away. Luckily his wife showed up just then and they were leaving, with 2 Security guards & 2 police officers following them. Health concerns & scare tactics do NOT belong together.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat, think that amazon is pretty good at standing up for damages in shipping aren’t they? Likely shipping more costly than the purchase??

Susan I think there will be a lot of people practising calling in with various reports of gatherings etc.

Another sleepless night, guess mind is working over time..was asked to embroider a couple of golf towels, have the towels, just needed supplies to make them, placed an order of supplies and Christmas stocking stuffers from hummingbird fabrics, all were in stock except the 10 degree ruler, I’m so lucky that Greg works a block away from the store so it’s an easy pick up and delivery.

Ziggy is laying beside be purring, not a wonder I can’t sleep... lol

Verona, ON

I'm up too Betty.... can't sleep. Chaos is snoring away in my ear.

Looks like Santa is going to need wellies and an umbrella.

I went to Foodland this morning. I did a pass through their parking lot and kept on going. It was packed. I am wondering if people are just so worried they are stocking up early. I saw on the news Ford moved the close down to Boxing Day.

Stay safe and well.

Pat are you spending Christmas in the car ?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Makes for a long day Dianne, got to love your furry bedmates lol
I finally got up at 4:30, no sense looking at the clock might as well be productive. Joanne was telling me a friend of hers was in town yesterday, couldn’t find a parking spot and once in all the shelves empty.

Only thing I didn’t get was blueberries for pies , think I’d do myself a favour and run down to foodland at 7:30 and pick up the few things I need.

Yes, FORD’s announcement changing lockdown the 26th came as a surprise to many.

They are calling for snow here but no large amount..was out putting garbage to curb side and it was mild..winter enthusiasts won’t be pleased.

Poor ski lodges, double whammy for them..
