Glad you are up and running again Dianne.

Well, our weather did an about face. A little rain came through, dropped out temp to 70 degrees. Sure feels nice. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch rain, but I will take it.

Bet you are grateful for the relief, Linda.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That feels so nice. Wish it would stay for awhile.

It's cooling off here especially in the evening. Even Jess put on a hoodie the other night. We sit on the porch after dinner watching the hummingbird wars. We are so easily entertained. Worried our bats have moved out since the snake invasion. Hope just a migrate and they will come back.

I had a great "working vacation" at my oldest son & wife's. Neither of them have an interest in outdoors/ landscaping. Not even to the point of watering and mowing. I weeded out the flower bed, raised garden beds & mowed. I have Dana's buy in on the idea of a maintenance free landscaping with rocks and chemicals. He is ONLY in agreement because it will save him money in the long run! He did a little research and showed me a mini-clover that only grows to 4 inches and is drought resistant. I encouraged him to buy a small amount of seed and we will try it out.

I mended, it is frustrating that expensive clothes are no guarantee of good worksmanship. I resewed all my son's knit boxers waistbands. Those that did not already have places "unsewn & hole" were showing places that threads had come unable at least partially.

Made custom masks for Dana and converted all of Carrie's to over the head loop style.

Carrie claimed an old quilt I had made for Dana when he was a kid. It was just a coordinated 8"x 9" blocks (I feel totally silly calling it a quilt! That elevates it beyond it's humble existence!) I replaced the missing blocks and patched over the spider and skeletons with florals. Carrie was so excited, it's fun to do things for her. She is always so expressive and appreciative.

Yes, the continuous elastic in the masks makes life so much easier and not only can it be adjusted, it is WAY more comfortable to wear. the only down side is that it does take more elastic.

Here, elastic is plentiful with MANY people locally selling huge spools of white or black, also a few varieties of type. THAT is pleasant change, I have not checked at JoAnns lately. It was CLOSED for EVERYTHING but curbside pickup last I looked. Walmart has not had thread, elastic or fabric forever. They now have a little. I don't need any... guess my stash is good for something right?

Stanley has been extra needy. My neighbor boy did a good job of keeping my flowers alive and tending to Stanley. Gab managed to keep. even the 17 perennials I bought the night before I left alive, and they were in SAD shape when I bought them. . I could not pass up daisies, garden phlox or coreopsis for $1 a piece (discounted from $8)

LOVE the Halloween pillow. Lots of businesses are having to get creative on ways to still make money and remain open. No wonder that the craft show people are looking for alternatives that are safer, like outside for social distancing.

LOTS of catch up to do so I best get on it.

Everyone PLEASE be careful because people are going crazy from being locked down at home! I was just talking about this with the microwave and the toaster while drinking my coffee, and we all agreed that things are getting bad. I didn’t mention any of this to the washing machine, because she puts a different spin on EVERYTHING!!! Certainly couldn’t share with the fridge, cause he’s been acting cold and distant! In the end, the iron straightened me out! She said the situation isn’t all that pressing and all the wrinkles will soon get ironed out! The vacuum, however, was very unsympathetic…told me to just suck it up! But the fan was VERY optimistic and gave me hope that it will all blow over soon! The toilet looked a bit flushed but didn’t say anything when I asked its opinion, but the front door said I was becoming unhinged and the doorknob told me to get a grip!! You can just about guess what the curtains told me: they told me to “pull myself together!”
We will survive!!

Pat, it sure isn’t a holiday holiday lol but I like you enjoy them and to have someone be appreciative of work makes it more worthwhile. Great deal on the perennials, next year you will be thrilled with their blooming..my phlox are at their peak which to me represents fall.

Love the bit of humour..

A/c has been off for a few days, wind is up today so fresh air coming in. We didn’t get the bad storm they called for yesterday.

Karen one could almost wear a sweater in the evenings here as well..better than that sweLtering heat.

Tired this afternoon, was a busy few days, Linda was here all day sewing, mom here for a few days, Cathy dropped in..Pat and June were here this morning, while they were sewing my brother dropped in,they left and Rita dropped in on her way north.
Darlene just called, asked if she could spend the day tomorrow doing closures for her deck, she is pretty sure no Florida’s in the fall.

Soooo having a snack, looking at fall Country Sampler magazine June brought me, some great ideas..

Right now think I need a nap

I worked on the big containers of Elephant plants. I spent about 5 hours in my garage. I pulled my car out, set up a fan and then brought my battery operated mister from the back patio to the garage. Made it tolerable. I think they were growing wild on some nursery land some place in California and someone dug them up and placed them in the big pots. The roots were totally intertwined and hard to separate. My housekeeper was here so I worked on them, in the garage for about 5 hours. Made a mess, so last hour was used cleaning up my mess.

We, dogs and I, have been inside since 12 noon. Just to hot. Suppose to be 114. I have no appointments until September 11 so will not be going out much.

I think I just picked the last of my tomatoes. I had several neighbors help eat the last batch. My orange trees are making a comeback after I removed the fig tree's massive root stealing all of their water.

I walked the front landscape yesterday and it is crying for cooler temperatures. Some plants are thriving and some that have never had a problem, are in serious trouble.

My hummers are still coming to the feeders and the robins are taking bathes in the waterfall. Have not seen the dragonflies for several days but have not been out in the back patio area much because of the heat.

I too am looking forward to cooler temperatures. Death Valley recorded an al time high Sunday, 130. Now that is hot but no one goes to Death Valley this time of year.

Elephant plant photos. First photo is fuzzy. I discovered why. My water proof case had been invaded with moisture and needed to be cleaned. I had to Google how to take off the case. As you can see, I only got them planted and watered. Now I need to start trimming and wiring. I have 6 and they already have homes.

Elephant grows in the desert. Would be hard to kill unless you over watered.

Karen, your comment on the dry sink made me chuckle. Hummers are fascinating to watch. I have one that just sits in the nearby tree waiting for another to drop by. Then he just chases them away.

Pat, so delighted that you enjoyed your trip.

Dianne, Amazon does everything right. So pleased your got your problem solved.

Linda, that was some cool down. That is just about winter here. We have had 47 days above 100. Just broke another record.

Betty those look more like garden fairy angels to me. They could go on a spring time wreath.

Who has the most hair, son or dog? Both good looking though. Love the seashore flowers.

Too hot to be out working Sharon, weather is heat stroke time.
Will they all remain 8n containers and if so will you have to bring them in..
Rita dropped in, about same time of year she and I were in Death Valley, it’s 1 degree hotter than it was that day.

Death Valley is NOT on my bucket list! LOL...

I love that landscape quilt walling hanging you are working on Betty.

That plant is NOT what I think of when you said Elephant Ear Sharon. .

Linda, 70 sounds DEVINE! It was bearable in the shade with a breeze but unfortunatley my work was not in the shade, LOL

I can not fathom needing a jacket Karen. We have not been dropping cool enough for me to wear a jacket or hoodie even in the middle of the night!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, almost bedtime lol

Breezy today, had shut A/C last night and opening windows, woke up to 68 degrees.
Chilly for sure but sure did sleep well

Darlene came this morning, she got canvas panels done for her overhang,
2 panels = 1 side..odd shape so she will have John put snaps and try them out then we will go on to next batch..might even do my porch, would be so nice to just nap the covering on.

Had a nice visit afterwards, she left at 2 after finishing a garden walk around, lordy I’ve got a lot of cutting down and transplanting to do...once phlox are finished Darlene will come and dig some up

I’ve been busy since Friday, hoping tomorrow I can sleep in and so almost nothing!

Death Valley actually had a beauty of its own..Sharon’s Nevada was outstanding..did a 12 or so mile drive among a mountain area, colour spectacular.

What panel are you saying you like? If all the greens it’s hunts quilt, lake down under, has 8 panels

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Looks like everything is busy crafting, sewing and gardening. Betty, I love that old barn panel. Where did you find it?

Victoria Harbour, ON

It was Pat’s piece, she cut the panel like the one I did with flowers..like the look.

Too funny, Greg just came in with a clay pot, apparently the pot that I painted and gave to Mel many xmas’s ago, had painted a few of that took at least 30 hrs + dropped as he was taking it to work to transplant his plant..apparently he has the biggest one of all offices..so funny..he said he almost cried and would I paint him another of the same..omg

Something came to mind that I had painted several, as I went downstairs I remembered it was the same version but Christmas..looked and behind the Xmas one was one painted..he did happy dance, you would have thought I gave him mega $$$

It’s a house with windows,shutters,doors,flowers..I have one in my living room, thank god I don’t have to paint it again but I would have, what we don’t do for our kids....lol

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I just figured out away around DG not putting the date and time. Edit your post and it will post date and time.

Betty, they will stay in pots and I will start bonsai. Was hot again today but had some rain move in up in the mountains which bought some clouds into our area and cooled us down. At 4pm we were 102 and the dogs and I took our second walk. Without the sun blaring down, it was great. Another day with me not spending much time outside. I did go into th garage and water the new elephant plants in their new pots. The elephant is a type of jade. I need to go feed the dogs. They had a late breakfast so they are getting a late dinner. Then I need to hand water some pots on the back patio.

I have never been to Death Valley. Not on my bucket list either.

The very far right one, I imagine it is the one you said was 8 panel.

I don't know how hot it was today, I came in before 11 but I had sweat dripping off my nose! I got everything planted (at least until the NEXT trip to a store).

I can imagine how Greg felt! and YOU doing happy dance YOU did not have to paint another one! LOL

Kevin was to know by today about the Portland job, guess they still have not made their mind up. I have no doubt if the lady who interviewed could make the decision Kevin would have the job. There are 2 full time and one part time job open.

I have a cart full of scrubs ready to push the button on "order" when we hear if he got the job and what the exact dress code will be. SCRUBS, we know, but don't know anything else yet.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, we went through sunshine, cloud, mist and sunshine again but I do have furnace running, imagine

Pat, so annoying when companies take so long in letting potential candidates know if they have been selecting..a nail bitting time.

Sharon, is this a type of jade? Is your elephant ears those that the leaves grow 3-4 ft in leaf width?

Made a list this morning of daily things I wanted to get done today, getting there..
Body said it’s break/nap time.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I love that pot Betty. I can see why it took so long to paint.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I love that pot Betty. I would purchase it without hesitation. I know how much it would be with all of that time put in the painting.

The Elephant food, I believe that is the right name, is in the jade family. Leaves are very small. About the size of your ring finger fingernail. They come variegated and some o the variegated ones have deep purple stems.

The dogs and I had a short walk this morning and then I blew off the mimosa blooms from the driveway and then my neighbors pine needles and my sumac leaves off the back patio.

Like Pat, by the time I was done my hair was completely wet and I had sweat running off my nose, behind my ears and into my eyes. I came in the house, closed the patio door and have not been out since.

I have the cats inside, even though they like to lie around on the patio furniture. Reason is in photo below.

We broke another heat record yesterday and looks like we ill break one from the 50's today. It is cooling down. Only going to be about 109 today.

Several of my beautiful pots in my courtyard are fried. I am going to move them to the garage this evening. Salvage any plants I can and re-pot in holding pots and then get them ready for replanting. September is when we start to cool down. Right after Labor Day. As soon as it cools down, we plant our spring flowers.

I had my garden helper did not work today because it was going to be so hot. I told him to take the day off.

My daughter is heading to St. Louis Saturday morning to see Eloise Grace. First great granddaughter is now 5 months old.

My son-in-law's Aunt is in the hospital in Salt Lake on a ventilator. Has the virus. She is 81. They do not know how she got it and she has a learning disabled son that is 55 that also has it. We just went over 1,000 individuals that have died in our county.

Been kind of down the last few days. I stopped watching the news thinking that would help, but so far has not. I did not sleep well last night and had weird dreams.

Betty, if you were younger, you could paint those pots and Neiman Marcus would sell them as soon as they got them.

Every afternoon this week we have had some cover around 4pm which stops the direct sunlight on myself and the dogs. Either smoke from the California fires or clouds. No such luck today. We will need to walk later.

My neighbor was walking her husband, who has something similar to what Vern had, and they hear the owl calling his friends. Fantastic photo. That is why the cats are in the house. The house you see in the background is my back patio area.

Thumbnail by WormsLovSharon
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

that owl is magnificence & HUGE! What a sight to see!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful owl photo. Don't blame the kitties for staying inside. Make sure you stay hydrated being out in that heat.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening, looks like sweltering heat is in all your neighbourhoods, bot as hot here..
We were to get rain but it bi-passed my neck of the woods.

That photo of the owl is outstanding..

Been a quiet day, worked on a few fall projects, kick myself when I decide to take a break and put my head down..wanted to go do groceries and didn’t.

Tomorrow Sharon and I are going to my brother Bernie’s for breakfast then picking up Ned, I’m grandma dog sitting till Wednesday, don’t know how Ziggy will take the news.

Didn’t make supper as I thought I’d pick up something in town, kinda late to start now when I’m ready to call it a day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Greg sent me a photo of his plant, I believe it’s a coleus
Looks close to edge to me

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yeah, tell him it needs to sit in a safer place. Or buy it a stand.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree. Too close to the edge.

Victoria Harbour, ON

He sure will not be getting another one if this one breaks!

Just getting my stuff together and heading out to pick up Sharon to go to Bernie‘s for breakfast which is about half an hour strong then we are about 20 minutes from Lens Mill‘s so I think we will take a quick drop in as they have a fabric sale today.

I did work on a few projects yesterday so feeling accomplishing some tomorrow Hydro is out all day so I Will finish the glasses that I’m doing for the sale. I did take a picture of a cute piece for Christmas think it would be good as a wall hanging that could be a throw and see if I have what is needed and do some cut up, will be a long day for sure don’t know why the whole town has to be down for the entire day but they say it will be.

Who knows, seeing as they are starting at six in the morning maybe everything will go better than expected and they will finish by noon. Had I realized it earlier I would’ve put breakfast till tomorrow that way most of the day would be away from the house. Greg and Mill are leaving for four days and dropping it off around 10,
I’ve left a note saying to let Ziggy out before they enter with the dog that way Ziggy can play outside until I get home and see how they get along.
He’s sitting here watching me knowing that I’m leaving and wants out so perhaps I’ll have to go downstairs and go out through the basement.

The meet me at the patch that is completed actually is Darlene, there was one strip she didn’t need and left here for the garbage and it was just enough to do one hello, I think she is supposed to come tomorrow To finish another panel, drats I forgot all about telling her no electricity

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Ouch, being without electricity for the whole day does not sound like fun at all!

For your sake I hope you "visitor" and Ziggy get along Ok.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Going to be an effort keeping them apart.. wish animals would know we are keeping them safe..just tied Ned outside and Ziggy came to lay next to me.

Had a wonderful breakfast with my brother Bernie and his wife Charlene, we decided that we would all take turns once a month .. September 19 which is a few days after mom’s birthday and a few before Bernie’s I’ll do brunch.

We went to Lens mills this morning, people were lined up with bolts to top of their carts, all SHARON and I wanted was backing so we each could put a quilt on the frame, keep us busy

Victoria Harbour, ON

Calling it a night..was outside and Ned went after Ziggy, wow took all my time to hold him back..put his water and food in back bedroom, was surprised Ziggy came in but he did so he has the run of the house til morning.

I’m slow on uptake, plugged my iPad in to charge it 100% thinking tomorrow I’d have power...dah there will be no internet.

Calling for 40% rain, would be nice if we had a clear morning so I can work 8n the gardens.

How was your day?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Found a cute thing today. We can't use Tide pods plus I can't paint worth a doodely. But it is cute. Could probably put a light in it too.

Thumbnail by siliolegma
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, those are so cute. Need to find someone that uses them, to save me a container.

Betty, I hope the cat and dog get along ok.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I've been busy making masks & tonight I went outside to the yard - decidely shaggy. Need to mow it tomorrow, Bob's been working on our neighbour's place and there's a lot more to do.
Betty - hopefully the 2 ani-mules will settle down & tolerate each other at least.
Sharon - beautiful owl!

I forgot to post this, and now it's Sunday morning.
Haven't been on much all this week, between mask-making & travelling to town, I've been slacking offon seeing you, my friends. Wish I could meet up with you 💖

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

With Covid, our local churches are STILL closed. I am going to the neighbors for sacrament this morning. First time in a dress in months.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Susan. How are you doing?

Pat, our churches are open, but with social distancing in place.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, had a sunshine day..

With no electricity from 6am-2:00pm which was scheduled for our village it was a long day but I did make use of it. Did mega work 8n front garden, almost done and #t and pinned a backing for a wedding built..forgot when I was buying fabric yesterday how much work would be required to make it match.

Today went well with the furries until now.. when one was inside I’d let the other outside.while I worked but thought better of it with high humidity. Ziggy decided to come out of hiding, Ned went after him grrrr

Will soon take him for his evening walk then in the back bedroom he goes.

Have to watch Ziggy doesn’t get out as they are posting of fishers in the area..few streets down a man was able to startle a fisher after a black cat so worrisome.

Don’t think our churches are open yet..
Susan, you always keep so busy and now you have Bob doing same as well.
Pat, it does seem out of place to get all dolled up lol
Karen are you feeling better
Liz, saw all the fires in California and Nevada, breaks my heart, hope you are ok
Dianne are you getting this extreme heat?
Karen, are you sewing?
Know We are babies compared to Sharon and Lindakay re weather, just don’t know how you gals are doing it.
Deb, are you adjusting to work

Speaking of weather, Darlene and John are coming tomorrow to take measurements
For panels, they ordered the snaps that will be drilled into the wood..once I make the panels with tarring they bought they will instal..will be so much easier to put up and take down, mights even but clear fabric and make windows in one of them....sign of winter..

Our churches are still closed
Betty - I have to keep busy. Not going to have a repeat of 2016 & 2019 & end up in the hospital if I can help it. Dr says exercise doesn't deter the clotting in my lungs, but I'll keep doing what I'm doing - yesterday I walked over 8k steps (FitBit SAID so!) I'm going for coffeetime now, so will use my Urban Walking poles for the first time. We got them for a GREAT price at our Wellness Society - $25 for the Activator poles.
Best get hopping, or I'll be late!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Sunshine day here, don’t know what happened to the rain we were suppose get? Hot and humid..

Finished a few masks, got the wedding quilt on the frame, going to try bag for kids as Linda is coming Wednesday to make one first..lots of little things I can make to entertain myself..

Ned still isn’t eating but I noticed ziggy’s bowl I forgot to lift 1/2 eaten..tomorrow afternoon I’ll bring him home..good dog just he is not used to cats and Ziggy not used to dogs.

Think I’ll make a salad for lunch before all fixings go bad, Sharon brought me Shepard’s pie, enough for 2 days so that leaves me more time..

Enjoying,your day?
