Sharon, happy birthday game. Sure hope you had the best of day, I’m sure a few Hours you spent in the gardens. Has the temps been more manageable for you and the furries.

Rain just stopped, here is hoping it’s ended for the night so I can sleep without worrying about the sump pumps.

Night, night!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Stanley is happy about it, but yes, he is strictly indoor kitty.

I wanted to stay with paint that says it will adhere to plastic but I wasn't happy with that and switched to house paint. Guess we'll see! I paid $10 for it used so if it doesn't work out, it's not a big deal.

I got everything put around the support posts painted, I should clean them tonight and then finish them tomorrow. We had rain several days and it rained so hard the mud splashed on the white posts! I painted them except for the last inch or two because I was rolling them, doing the brush work later... it's time now! At least now everything that is over the patio is done. Walls, ceilings, got the little shed thing painted 2nd coat. It's getting closer, will it EVER get done?? LOL

Betty, how you doing on elastic? Still got plenty?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Masks - I got a custom order for one - she first wanted a picture of Elvis on the center, and I told her to find a picture that would look good with a seam down the middle, so she chose to have one with an Elvis on each side, and Teddy on the right, under the pic, and Bear on the left, under the pic.
These are the pictures she wants. I have the iron-on Transfer paper, so this should be........... easy?!?! When you transfer them, they go backwards, so the b/w one will go on the right side, and the colour one will go on the left, both looking inwards.
Should be interesting to see if I get other requests for faces & other pictures.

Morning everyone, we’re still raining at 6 o’clock this morning and now it’s overcast, had about 10 minutes of sunshine and thought what a glorious day it would be but I imagine the storm has passed us yet. Normally when we get that much rain I’m listening to the pump to see that it is working , last night I crawled into bed and fell into a deep sleep. Haven’t been downstairs yet to check all the corners to make sure water hasn’t see-through, I’m hoping not!

Pat, the only thing that I saw working on Rubbermaid tight surface was the spray what they used to do the plastic chairs, not so sure what you’re using will work but I hope so would be an easy fix. You do remember that you’re retired now and you can take your trying to do these projects. Listen to who’s talking right lol

Susan that will be quite a mask, individual must be a fan of Elvis but that’s a bit much by the time you sold the small areas together or if the mask is pleated I’m not sure which pattern you’re using some of it will be distorted, hope they’re paying you good money.

Just finished my coffee, picked my to do task from the jar and it’s Cleaning my work shop, not a lot to do, only cut a few pieces of wood a few weeks ago so not much dust.

Linda wants to do the 2 Bakers sets next week so goal is to embroider the grandsons names on the band, think I’ll do that for her.

Know what Pat and Susan are doing today but what are you all doing?

Hope it’s a sunshine day in your area or for those of you who need the rain I’ll give you some of mine.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I wish it was raining here. We need it so bad.
Not doing much. Sewing masks, just because.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Imagine, after all that heat having the furnace on, more because it helps these old bones. Decided to start painting the dozen glasses Darlene brought me some time ago, now I need 6 more but the smaller narrow ones to create a trio set of pumpkins.

Have about half the masks I’m doing, like you they are just for something to do but they usually end up finding a home.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Did your basement stay dry?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes it did.. am very thankful for that! How about your basement o.k.?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Glad your basement stayed dry, Betty!
Yes, Linda - did yours?

The masks I make are not pleated - they're Olson masks. Yes, it's going to be a work intensive mask to make.

We don't have a basement. Wish we did. But because our caliche soil is like concrete, no one has a basement here. We haven't had rain for months here. We desperately need some.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

My sister Marie took me out shopping for flowering bushes as a retirement gift. We spent the whole afternoon together. Being in a mask for 6 hours was HOT and exhausting!
I need to get some more masks made for family, kids for back to school, oldest son & wife for when I visit them next week. Dana has been working from home since this hit and has only been out of the house twice! His wife is a caregiver but only has 3 elderly clients that are widow women who stay home with no company so very little exposure there and she has several masks. But Dana.... gotta make him some for short vacation they are going on!
Glad to hear the basement stayed dry and you got a GOOD nights sleep. Heaven knows you don't seem to get many of those Betty.
Lots to do today and I need to get on it!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

*Sigh*, I am a BAD kitty Mama. I tied yarn to Stanley's tail and watched him spin. I am not sure how many times he turned around chasing his tail but I laughed so hard. I took it off, guess I needed to balance out the karma.

Hummmm.... maybe Stanley will NOT enjoy me being home more?

I advertised on craigslist some of the surplus furniture projects I wanted out of the garage. A young lady (maybe 12?) showed up with mother & siblings and .offered me $50 for the hutch & dresser, I turned her down and got the $65. When I asked if she wanted to look at the headboard, she said she didn't have enough money. I encouraged her to look at it anyhow and see if it was something she'd like.

They couldn't get the dresser and hutch into their Tahoe so I delivered the hutch and the headboard. It was sweet watching her using a wet cloth, working to get some dirt/something off the headboard. It was Broyhill furniture.

I post about Becca now age 5 quite often in the other house as she says the funniest things.

This posted by her mama this morning:

Me: Becca, check the chickens, we might have had a raccoon nearby.
Becca: *throws hands up in the air* “mama, I don’t wanna talk about it! Only the man upstairs knows how mad I am at them raccoons right now!”

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, sunshine day..wondering if I should leave A/C on or turn heat on.

Pat and Karen, you both gave me such a laugh..young ones are so dramatic aren’t they..and Pat I’m sure Stanley is enjoying the time you are spending with him.

Pat, am thinking the furniture was a a great buy..you must be running out of pieces to get rid of, watch, you will sell this all off then need to go buy more for other projects.

Weekend time again, nothing really I need in town so may wait until I’m good and bored and take a ride in.

My to do job today is dusting the upper floor, might go beyond and dust basement lol

Been playing with bakers hats fir Linda, maybe give it a try..

Pretty boring when that is all that I have planned for the day..
Is it just me or is life getting to be a little more exasperating, need to get back into routine.

Yes, trying to limit Covid exposure can be TIRING!!!

Picked up ANOTHER dresser yesterday, FREE. It will be a beautiful easy to finish product. My grandson really needs a new dresser. If this one will go to him IF there is SPACE in his room for one this big 44 wide, 52 tall and 19 deep. It tried making a suicide jump from moving truck and broke it's top. It has a little road rash on one side. A new top & repaint and it will be good to go. The drawers are on rails and move sooooooooo smooth! https://kpr.craigslist.org/zip/d/richland-dresser/7172679980.html

Wonderful find Pat, your Mrs. fix-it talent and it will be as good as new.

Did go to town and Lordy it is tiring..Had planned to do a few different stores but I know sooner got there I decided that a few groceries in a quick trip to dollar store was all I was going to do. There was a vegetable stand out in the parking lot so I bought fresh corn, didn’t go overboard like I normally do just bought three cobs,
enough to get a taste.

My goal at the dollar store was to pick up smaller wine glasses to go with those that I already painted, I’d like three different sizes looks better as a trio however they only had same size, wasn’t about to drive the other side of town, it’s a fall project so lots of time to buy 12 of 2 different sizes..

Going to have supper, early soak in hot tub then bedtime..

Calling out to all, worry when you don’t post..everything ok in your neighbourhood?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

OK here, waiting to hear when I will be getting my infusions. They know how out of energy I am, don't see why they delay so.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Is there a time limit Karen that you have to wait in between the shots? Is the infusion Iron? My brother still and I many decades ago would have to have blood removed as we had too much iron 8n our blood. Are you able to sit out on porch and just enjoy the day?

For me the injections that I get in my neck I think they have to be at least two months in between.

Sharon just came over for a few minutes I had some stew for her supper and she had just taken off the throw she had on the Quilting frame, she sure is getting use of her new machine and Frame, so far she’s taking a liking to using all the different Quilting templates, she’s doing such a wonderful job I’m so proud of her.

Tomorrow she has a 3 1/3 hr drive north to breed one of her dogs and come home the same day because Inuk needs his needles..she will take Inuk with her, guess one day she will have to teach me how. Sunday or Monday she has to go back to pick up the dog in hopes it’s bred..vet said semen looks good!

Is that one of Sharon's? different, very striking!

I left my phone at Walmart today and had to go back. I was exhausted and that extra trip didn't help. Thank goodness it's just a few miles from home.

My sister starts on Vitamin B shots and I hope it helps. Her iron has been OK lately so it's not that this time. I am hoping when weather gets cooler I will have more energy.. I hope you get your infusions soon Karen.

I slept in this morning until 9AM , but man, I am fighting to stay awake. If I go to bed now, I doubt I'll sleep thru the night! It's only 7.30 my time.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty a friend of mine had that too much iron problem. It caused her several other problems. She had problems with her skin being very sensitive is one I remember.
I had the last infusions in Feb. They do two a week apart.
I probably should have started the process sooner but I didn't realize I was in bad shape. I had just had that UTI which went into my kidney and then the bad reaction to the antibiotic. I just figured I was feeling poorly from all that. Which some of it was but I think I was low then too. I'm hoping they call soon.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

sorry that I've MIA - Tues I went to town for a Lung scan, and Thurs I went for an echo-cardio. Now I'm finishing a custom-request mask - she wants Elvis on each side, and Teddy below one pic & Bear below the other.
I was fretting about how to do it & thinking of iron-on transfers........... instead I'm using freezer paper to print directly ON the fabric instead. Took me 2 days to come up with that idea, and all of today getting the printing done - sizing the pictures, and getting Teddy Bear in the right position. Tomorrow I'm going to her place & will see if she wants elastic or ties, and if elastic - sizing of it to fit.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here too. This thread didnt pop up last night when I checked into DG.
Hubby and I had to go to the next town over, about an hours drive to see our dermatologist. cIt was time for our skin cancer check up. I only had one spot froze on my back. Todd had multiple spots on his face, and arms frozen. He has to go back next month to get one spot cut off. Too big to freeze.
So we enjoyed the trip. We stopped at hobby lobby and and then Applebee's for lunch, then back home.

Karen, kids say the cutest things sometimes.

Pat, sounds like you are enjoying your retirement. Sounds like Stanley is enjoying his new home

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm actually feeling better today. Slept good only up twice in the night. Hope to go sew a bit today. We are repairing the Color Guards flags. At some point someone took the bottom row off a set of flags and did a very messy job of it. Badly raveled. Have to trim that off first, then double sew row back on....Oh and it's a curve tapering to a point on each end. They have been sitting stuffed in a bag for who knows how many years, so first have to be pressed. The things you do for grands.
Found a dress packed away that I made for Jess when she was about 4. Going to wash and iron it. I think it will fit Lorelei next Easter. Cannot believe I put so much work into a dress that could only be worn once. But then I just had Jess so....

Beautiful dress Karen.

Afternoon, just beautiful outside, no sooner did I get the grass cut that Greg dropped in, he was on the spider so left and came back bringing Melanie and grand-dog Ned for a visit, think it was more to ask if this grandma could look after Ned in a few weeks as they all want to go to Tobermory for the weekend..they kept saying to Ned”ask grandma if she would like a visitor in a few weeks”..lol

Then Jeff dropped in..was nice having my boys visit..doesn’t happen often enough!

Greg and Mel were doing olen fire pizza’s and outdoor movies tonight, Jeff was golfing at 3:30pm in Barrie. Somehow the dummy got grease on his golfing shirt/hat so grandma had to look for stain remover and get grease or, think I got it all..

Plum tired out,
Nap time

Will be back to comment once I’ve had a nap

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

My sister Sharon in law came over and we worked on the salvage dresser. I have a coat of paint on the "shell/body" and dry brushed some of the body. When its all dry I'll see if I want to repaint the whole thing.
We took the top off, recut to straight, past the broken edge, reset it with a higher piece of wood in the back to make up the difference & give it a "lip" in back so stuff won't fall off the back. I am really pleased with it.

I'm headed out to glue on the new top to dresser that has been sitting in various stages of repair for a few months while I tried to figure out how to put new top on & repair the top drawer. I decided I am not going to repair the drawer! I'm going to put a shelf in & make a "tray" to fit on, the shelf. Then paint the whole thing & call it DONE.

Sounds like you have been busy. I like the idea of having a tray.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Baskets the proper size work good where a drawer is missing too.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I like a basket when the proportions are right but this drawer is not too shallow to work well with a basket. That's why I will likely go with a tray. I may even make it OUT of the former drawer. Who knows? Not done yet!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, looks and feels like rain since early morning but still none..I’ve been on the couch since early morning, took a decade old sign off the back shed and am repainting..now I see all the red I don’t like it, hmmm now what..guess it will be a repair job come spring grrr

Pat, it’s the love of recycling you have, so much work involved. Too bad there wasn’t more space as baskets would have modernized the unit. I can see you are easily filling your days and not missing your work.

Susan, very ingenious what you came up with, here is hoping the masks will wash well.

Lindakay you mentioned needing procedure re growths..not sure what is happening with side of face but not liking it..will mention it to my doc when we talk tomorrow.

How are you feeling today Karen, gaining strength? Went back to look at the Easter dress, tremendous amount of work..lucky you have other grands to pass it on.

Meeting mom in Cookstown Tuesday to pick up aunt Muriel and drive her home..that is about the halfway mark.

Speaking of mom, last tome she was here she gave me Christmas goodies, they are sooo cute.

Waving to all MIA’s, hope you are all well
Judy,Liz,Debbie,Deb,Dianne and Sharon..likely missed some, sorry

Betty, I don't see red in that sign. I love that saying. Those little reindeer and chef hats are so cute.
Please mention your face to the doctor. Don't let it get too bad.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

It was a lot of work but then I only had one grand so I made her fussy stuff.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Red are the pieces already put on the back shed, I will distress as best I can, soften up if it doesn’t rain tomorrow. Don’t want to spend much more time on it when I ‘now I don’t like it. I remember painting etc room once, pick what was a bright colour to me and while it was drying went and purchased softer tones..why I do these things, shaking my head.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I meant to ask, was the dress one of the Daisy Kingdom printed sets? It sure looks like their style, very cute!

I must surely need to have my head examined. I picked up an oak old teachers desk for free today. I hope to have the legs trimmed down, the middle drawer removed and use it for a sewing table. I already have like it and LOVE it. It has the old pull outs on both sides above the drawers. I also contacted another person regarding FREE doors. I have a project lined up for those as well. If my pick up doesn't get returned to me soon I will go crazy and my poor Sis-in-law my skin me a live! (She helping me GET this projects).

Victoria Harbour, ON

Holy wash Pat, Where are you getting all this energy? Sounds like a fun project though

Noah came over for ribs supper and took a ride to Midland while I’m looking after kilo, must be “visit grandma” with your pet weekend lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat, that is exactly right. I couldn't remember for the life of me. I posted on one of the big sales sites to see if any one could tell me and got 95 responses. I then Googled and some of the patterns are still available. Not that I plan on making another one. When I made that for Jess, she was the only one. Cannot believe I put all that in a dress to be worn one time. Well now it will be worn again.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful dogs Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, calling for rain but sun is shinning..called township to complain about the drainage grid been 1/2 filled with silt, someone told me I have to be a b¥£€h and keep calling, don’t like doing that but a must.

Sure was a family drop in weekend and that was nice. Braedon who is in university in British Columbia is returning home this week, was offered a teaching position (English) in Germany for 3 years so will be here for about a week before leaving for his new career.

Was a nice visit with Noah, he leaves for the city this morning, not often we get a 1 on 1 time so really enjoyed it. Sure wish I could post video on here of me sitting Kilo, 110 lb. dog wanting to cuddle on couch with me, licking me..was hilarious.

Dr’s office just called..he cancelled my 1:30 phone appointment because he decided to make house visit after 4pm today, doesn’t know what time after 4 but that is so much better. His daughter who is his secretary said there are 2 vaccines I should have so she will include them in his doctors case. Not flu vaccine, that is not til mid October. Will have to ask what they are for??

Linda told me I should bake him a pie lol

Verona, ON

Love, love, love the dog Betty.

I had a week that I would not want to experience again soon. My cell died and my router for the computer died too. Of course everything took time and lots of help from Bell. I did run into 1 jerk from Bell support but everyone else was very kind and patient.

Need to go back and catch up.

Muggy here and the temperature is to soar for the nex 2 days.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Very frustrating Dianne, is our only way to be in contact with humans much of the time, makes things that much more overwhelming. Glad you are back on,worried about you. It’s as hot and humid here, that being said guess who is baking pies..thought maybe doc might like one although maybe concerns eating goods from someone’s home. Guess then I will have 2 pies to eat lol

He is much too much for me Dianne, of course he is a pup, 1 year old and all muscle..he thought I wanted to play..will be keeping Ned in a few weeks, he is actually bigger but older so more manageable...Ziggy won’t be happy!
