Thank you, Linda Kay, for telling me what type of mask it is.
ah, I have some chenile bump.......... somewhere - maybe in with the Christmas decorations....... I'll stick with the foil. I know how to handle it now and it's what I have on hand. 😉 As I'm giving so many away, I'd like to keep my costs down. Only having to purchase the filtered lining & hair elastics. Two meters of the lining was $31.......
Funny thing is, I thought my sewing machine would get cranky with the foil, heavy as it is, but it's not. Goes through it quite easily actually.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends and always excited when someone joins us!
Hard to believe how much you pay for fabric in Canada.
This is the fusable lining, LK, not fabric. Thankfully I'm a quilt fabric hoarder 🤣
Fusible lining sells for about $3.00 a yard here.
Oh no.
LK - a meter is a little over a yard - 39" so I got 2 yards, 6" for $31.
This is why I'm not spending a lot on other stuff - it's what I have on hand.......... lots & lots of quilting cotton of every so many colours & patterns (and non-patterned) and that wonderful deal that Bob found at the Bargain Shop! I really like that the hair elastics are multiple colours!
Morning all, overcast here, didn’t look at forecast so not sure if rain is on it’s way..
Hope everyone is doing ok
Pat not many sleep before you can be a free agent, wake when you want, do what you want..an exciting time for you.
Debbie, guess you are getting somewhat excited as well.
Karen, those grands of yours certainly are adorable.when do you start your way back to home?
Sharon and LindaKay has the temperatures subsided at least make it bearable?
Liz, you ok
Dianne, after this weekend you will start seeing less of the tourist, has it been busy on the lake..thing boating ,camping, golfing are about the only activity that was high in usage this year’s this year..it’s like many years ago they are all over..mega damage to come.
Had such a busy week, mom is here, went out for eats, got an urgent call from aunt Muriel saying she felt like she was having a stroke..wanted me to drive over..yes she was confused, wouldn’t let me take her to hospital, I don’t know if it was her way of getting company..my brother Mike and Kim came over, Darlene and John then later same day Kyle..mom went and spent afternoon with Sharon yesterday, I worked on sewing some placemats for niece the on to a wedding pillow hopefully, they said absolutely no gifts as it’s a 2nd marriage for Danielle and they have everything but I just couldn’t do that.
Greg was here last night, he still is not walking well, injured his knee some time ago, he had just been to therapy, will try that fir a few months, if that doesn’t do the trick then it’s surgery,
Well I’d best fix myself a coffee..I’d like to get placemats done, pillow, and now that I have the sign boarding done and the letters for garden painted white if like to get it on the back shed but that would be mega tasking for sure,
Went to put Ziggy out but something must be out there as he doesn’t want out..maybe he is just tired,
Enjoy your day!!
I especially liked the music note mask. Lots of people use the hair elastic but I find they are too short. I need to get with and make masks for family. We still don't know the status of school for my grandchildren. Some schools are online only
Been a busy week so far. Work is a bit overwhelming. So many people, so many things to learn. I've got 77 training classes to take online before the end of August, so I've been working on those, and then we had a customer in to qualify us as a manufacturer of their cables, so I spent most of the past 4 days in meetings with them, just listening and learning. I'm so looking forward for the weekend!!!
Funny that you should mention the hair elastics being too short - I delivered a mask into town, and the person who ordered it was in the back of the store. She couldn't come out apparently. So, I left the mask there, hoping it would fit correctly. She messaged me & said that it was too short & hoped I could adjust it the next time I'm in town........ I'd made a special trip to deliver it because I had gone in Tues & she wasn't there, so then I returned today. The store is only open short hours 3 days a week, so trying to get our schedule together....... they don't open until Monday (Monday/Tues/Thurs from 11am to 3pm, and Thurs night from 7-9pm). It's a Thrift store.
Good morning. Yesterday I drove a friend to San Antonio for a dental appointment. Found a nice quilt shop and bought some fabric, had lunch and came back home. It was so nice getting out of the house.
Morning..glorious sunshine day, looks like great weather for the long weekend..Greg and Mel are heading northwest to a campsite, left this morning and will be back Tuesday. I’ve a wedding tomorrow so want to get everything cleaned, dusted, floors washed, laundry then groceries....mom left at 9:30 so if I wind myself up I should be able to get into town before the tourist arrive.
I did work on projects for back front of shed why?? Just to entertain myself lol
Mom gave Sharon,Kim and myself a hand cross stitched, hand quilted queen size quilt..it’s so lovely I don’t want to put it on the bed as Ziggy likes to claw and goes from mud on a rainy day to lay on the bed..she doesn’t understand and that..I said if have to put it somewhere so I could cherish it, she wasn’t happy..perhaps a ladder quilt holder?? Also a set of hand made mice about 12” high, they are too cute for words..must take a photo for you all.
Glad you enjoyed the out8ng l8ndakay, especially to a quilt shop..see anything different?
Deb, that sounds like an awfully lot to learn, overwhelming for me just hearing about all you Have to get done and learn..enjoy your weekend..rest,rest,rest..
I had a b8n of elastics..between visitors I ended up with $140.00 re masks..I’m lucky to have ordered early in the fMe the thin elastic cording..make masks so light weight and breathable with new design so will have to make more..
Pat, is it today we do the happy dance for you?? You will feel like the weight of the world is off your shoulders..
Break is over
That quilt is beautiful, Betty. Definitely something to keep safe and cherish.
Hate to put it away in closet but will have to, glad she calls before she come, that way even if I set it at bottom of the bed she will feel better..there is a large stain on it though, I will not tell her..took a photo, will try and wash it out, maybe just leave it..looks like she dropped coffee on it
Still beautiful, Betty - wow, what a lot of work on it! What would you use to try to take the coffee stain (if that's what it is - tea is very staining.......)?
$140 for your masks? Very nice.
Beautiful quilt. I hope you can get the stain out.
Betty try mixing Oxy Clean and Era detergent into a paste and put on stain. Let sit a day then wash on gentle. Good chance it will remove the stain. I've had really good luck with it on delicate heirloom dresses.
Linda, it's always fun to explore a new fabric store.
Heading home on Sunday.
Have a safe trip Karen.
Thanks Linda, will do.
Yep, Friday was my last day. They organized a "drive by" at 4.30 when my supervisor arranged to help me take stuff out. I was going to do some of that earlier but she said NO, you will spoil the surprise.
Lots of co-worker drove past entry with horns honking, it was a surprise! I was given gift certificates to JoAnnes, Beaver Bark (high end garden shop & supplies) and one of my favorite restaurants, a money tree (I need a GOOD picture of it, so I don't know how much money is in it yet.). cut flowers, a Boston Cream Strawberry cake, LOTS of various stuff. It was a shock and very touching.
I sent out a last minute email out other state workers that I have interacted with over the years and got the sweetest out pouring of love, it was amazing. I had included my personal email & phone number and the number of people I have already heard from is surprising & heart warming.
First question everybody asks " WHERE are you going to travel?" They always seem surprised that I am such a home body will not be doing any traveling.
Off to get some work done at HOME, it's a mess!
Congratulations on your retirement Pat. So glad they had a surprise party for you.
Congratulations Pat, well deserved send off I’m sure!
Just got 8n from the wedding, beautifully done, about 35 adults and 12 young ones..Lordy, know brides always look beautiful but Danielle was beyond beautiful..if a complaint was to be found it’s that she had make up professionally done an$ 8 hardly r3cognized her, she usually has natural beauty and I missed that.
Thanks for information about stain in the quilt, will try that for sure..think the stain has been in it for decades.
Have a couple staying with me, they are still at wedding, am sure as skitters get heavier they will come home..she brought me a bag full of deli cheeses, crackers and eats as well as specialty teas for staying here..didn’t say I’m not fond of cheeses.
The other day aunt Muriel gave me 2 large bags of sewing supplies, ie scissors, buttons, snaps, wedding beads..still in the trunks of my car, tonight Linda brought me 2 totes of fabric, I’d say from leading through I’ll throw out 1 tote as it’s fabrics I’d never use..some nice cottons and some finished pieces... lady died and Linda didn’t want to keep it, you would almost think death is catchy lol
Paining tonight so best I cover myself with ointment, take pain meds and go to bed..I should have told my guests to watch Ziggy doesn’t get out and also not to worry about noise as once I fall asleep you can have a party and it will not wake me
Night night
Sounds like it was a beautiful wedding.
Wish we closer. I would take that fabric.
Company just left, pouring rain, a dull kind of day so might bring in fabric totes , divide what I want to keep or give away
Went through bins, one bin filled with silk lining and upholstery fabric, if value village or Salvation Army I’d open I’ll drop the bin off.
The other has cotton, great for backings..a lot has 3-6 yards so that I can use for sure.
Doing company’s bed linen right now, next time I am downstairs I will bring the tote of cottons and was/iron here and there...
Will clean this mess up and go get what aunt Muriel gave me and see what is in her bags of goodies. Knowthere is one pair of fiskars that have the spring, bonus for sure
Lots of fabric. What did she think you could do with baby bibs?
Beautiful bride and groom.
Give them away and all the seat belt covers as well, I’ll put 4 in my car for when I travel with girls, should that ever happen again.😢
Went and looked a a new Buick Friday, salesman was to have called me earlier in the week as the gym sales discount were ending Friday..he calls me a 1..I had to decide before days end, 2hours...told him if I wanted to purchase I would be back before 5..what changed my mind was the cost of snow tires..figured I might as well get this winter out of mine then c9me spring buy one..not much bigger than mine just higher..trunk no bigger either..
Lordy sitting here typing and head bobbing..think I’ll go put another load of fabric in washer then have a nap,sky is dark and rain still heavy so great day for napping
I especially liked that bright plaid piece!! Cheery.
I was reading some suggestions on how to manage your stash. *sigh*, we'll see! I don't hold out much hope.
Morning, yet another rainy day..damp as old heck..I shut a/c off and opened all the windows for fresh air but not sure that was a good idea..letting in more dampness so now I have to go shut all the windows lol
Pat it must feel so good to know you don’t have to go to work this week..
I don’t think to there are any answers to having your stash well organized, seems I’m always doing it and I have 5 double door cupboards, two other 1/2 size cupboards, a seating area that has bins underneath, a working area that has about eight bins and still not enough, big sigh..maybe our stash should be purged.
Is it a holiday stateside as well?
I remember how excited I was when it was go8ng to be a long weekend, making so many plans, now 1 day rolls into another...
What are you all doing today??
It was fun sending taughting emails to former coworkers this morning!
I did get some pictures of some of the gifts. I also got gift cards, I have separated
out the money tree cash & I have put it in a flower pot in my bedroom. My goal is to I write down what I used it for as I spend it
I am meeting up with my sister tomorrow and we are going to shop for a flowering bush, her gift to me to celebrate my retirement. I am going to plant a line of mixed bushed between my renter/neighbor beside me. I have worked and worked to keep my area weed free and they insist on watering EVERYTHING, making it difficult to keep it weed free. They are also stacking their trash (card board boxes etc) next to the house. They can't see it but THAT is what becomes the backdrop for my pretty white picket & arch. What a view spoiler.
.
Pleased to hear you and your sister will now be able to play..put those $$$ away and when border opens you can come for a visit and Debbie could also come..wouldn’t that be nice..
note, all are always welcome.
tell me about neighbors and spoiling the view...I spent mega $$ having a fence erected..for awhile he was purging and cleaning up the yard but that went by the wayside..fence was the answer, we can be friends..I have a nice area to decorate and I don’t fight re mess..
Now my back neighbour who has a painting shop is the one who basically cut down 75ft of forest to make a parking lot is very co-operative, I mentioned to one of the worker that when I have a bonfire I water all down but the nice boat he parked nearby could have sparks lay on the back cushions..later that day they moved it..I see a bunch working all day, yesterday I noticed right to the back of my shed they had erected one of those canoe garages..wasn’t terribly bad, still better than the mosquito infested swamp, this morning they moved it to an area not visible..hurrah for them..must go thank them. I’m planting a row of trees on tree line but likely I’ll be long gone before they completely close off area.
Jim a co-worker in Toronto had asked if I would make him a family name pillow for his brother and also a golf towel for him..that was today’s projects..my niece called to say the wedding placemats and pillow were much appreciated, not sure I posted the pillow?
LINDA just called me, she has been redoing her laundry room, project from hell..her washer went on the fritz so she bought a washer/dryer set set meant carpentry work..the base for the units have been 2 months in the shipping..units couldn’t be installed until she received them..finally got them..because her hubby 78 can’t do much re help the neighbours decided to come over and paint the laundry room for them..mega job, while out looking for cupboards her neighbour fell, could move for a few days, nobody helped her up because of Covid....imagine..
Friday they went to the city and bought upper cupboards and were installing them, poor Dave went downstairs to see how it looked, overturned the paint can..didn’t notice and walked up the stairs and through the living room..nobody in that household it happy, shaking my head.. I feel so bad for David, he must be feeling terrible.
LINDA might come this week, she wanted to make, with my help 2 baking sets, apron/hats and oven mitts..wanted their name on the hat..maybe tomorrow I will cut out the hats and before we make them embroider the hats with grandsons names.p, give her something to smile about.
Still early in the day, still in Jammie’s and I believe I’ve accomplished much..all that cotton has been washed and put away so am thinking maybe a nap would do me good...we will see!
Yep,. fences make good neighbors! LOL.... I used to have a boss that was SUPER tidy and my slovenly habits drove her crazy, besides HATING to file. She got a wall parition put up and it was GREAT!!! She learned I had skills in bookkeeping & tracking (that she greatly appreciated) and she would occassionally do my filing for me!
Well that was creative..
Had a nap, only 4pm...don’t feel like starting anything besides it’s nice and cozy tucked on the couch with my afghan.
Beautiful pillows Betty.
Morning all, will be a rainy day..woke up in a stupper, it was 8:10 and I knew I missed garbage day so rushed about and got 2 construction bags full to roadside across street from me, next door neighbour was sitting out so she came over and grabbed until the truck arrived, young lady picked picked it up sooo hurrah to me getting it gone..next step would have been driving 30 minutes to dump site and pay $20 for 2 bags.
After sitting out 15 minutes the every bone in my body that was hurting felt even worse..going to be a chairlift kind of day.
Nothing to do re housework, a bonus of living alone, clean it and not much needs done other than vacuuming Ziggy’s hair..challenge lol
Do need to embroider 2 names to little bakers hats that Linda wants to make, that might entertain me
Painted the Rubbermaid shed yesterday and need to do touch up today. Then on to the ladder work again. Hoping to make a big dent on it today if I can climb the ladder as many times as it takes. Knees are not fond of that work! There isn't that much to do, but I am soooooo slow and I only have so much tolerance for the ladder.
Cleaning up after a shedding kitty or dog is one of the big downsides of having pets, but I am glad I did it. Stanley brings me much joy.
Spent the day sewing but not quilting. Sammi is in Color Guard. They use the flags in their routine. While trying to save money they want to re-use flags from years ago. Problem is at some point the bottom row was removed and now they want it back on. Wouldn't be a bad job except whoever removed the row did a crappy job of it and I have a lot of trimming to do before I can go forward. Also originally had flat fell seams but I'm using serger. Was told that's okay to do. I think I have almost half done. Sammi was helping with the pressing too.
Jess would have helped except her, Payton and hubby had to remove deck boards and dig up a water pipe under there. It's been leaking for who knows how long. we are thinking when the basement guys were here last they knocked it loose. They were working in that area.
What a money pit this is.
Can you paint Rubbermaid?
I’m terrified of heights, not so much looking over when high but climbing, no could do.
Stanley will give you much joy, didn’t think you would regret it..is he still an indoor kitty..torrential rain here, I will be worrying about flooding all night grrrr
Some furries just want to find shelter..black and white kitty knows where to go lol
Made a stew this morning, Sharon dropped in, sent her home with enough for lunch and supper, apparently she found it good enough to eat all for lunch..
Pat dropped in just as Sharon was leaving, was nice having company.
Just ate..turning in 15 masks I sewed earlier, might find the energy to iron them then I’ll have something to do tomorrow.
