I got up and dressed in "painting" clothes & ended up pruning the rose & butterfly bush. Both had gotten out of control and made seeing the road to back up more hazardous. NOT now! It is garbage day and with all the pruning and weeding, I just couldn't let a can go empty, part of my motivation to prune!
I'm taking a break before finally starting the painting on the patio.
I wish I had a skill saw, I'm going to have to cut those desk legs with a jigsaw, oh well! At least I do have something to cut with!!
Missed out on the free doors, never got a reply back and the ad was down when I got back from an errand.
Ok, breaks over, need to paint.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wish you lived closer, have one but too heavy to hold and be in control of..like my band saw...you have to act fast when you see an ad that is that great, everyone looking for deals especially free ones.

Too muggy for me to be outside so tasks wait for me

I’m lucky with driveway being as is, I can turn in the drive ready to drive out without obstruction. Don’t think we can put cuttings in regular pick ups?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Cuttings in regular pick up here are OK, the branches weren't all that heavy or big. I chopped them down to less than 4 feet and put in my garbage cans.

I have enough room generally if people WANT to pull into my semi-circle, but I am surprised at the number of people that will pull in parallel with my car, rather than around.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, I was wondering if Ziggy did a disappearing act when the dogs were there.
Ducky stays upstairs most of the time but does wander the house at night when the dogs are in bed.

Dr. was here almost an hour, he will up my blood pressure meds and my painkillers as he said I am very poor candidate for surgery. The disc in my neck have decayed and if I was to get a surgeon to agree to operate I could be in mega trouble and maybe be in the wheelchair or in bed and not be able to move so he said stick with the painkillers..add fibromyalgia to this said not a wonder I’m in severe pain.. not to fight the pain if the Tylenol three don’t work then he’ll up the meds to something stronger but I don’t want to do that.

With regards to my feet lacking I have to drink a lot more liquids he said with sweating in the heat and the air conditioner and do you middle fire on it takes a lot of your body water mass so drink drink drink drink

As for the section on my face he will give me a stronger cream he says it’s some kind of fungus that is growing and if it’s not any better when he comes back then he’ll send me to a dermatologist but he doesn’t think it’s cancerous.

So all in all I guess the end result is I just have to live with pain..big sigh

Trip to pharmacy tomorrow

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ziggy was a little nervous coming in, guess he could smell the dogs..

I asked doctor about pain clinic I’m suppose to go to tomorrow as the 12 page questionnaire led me to believe it more how I’m coping with pain, he said they don’t do investigative works just help you deal with pa8n..told him I would cancel the appointment..

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Cooled down to 102 today. Actually nice in the shade. I have some plants that are thriving and some are frying. I still have an abundance of Juliette tomatoes. Neighbors are happy.

You guys are busy all of the time. Compared to what you guys accomplish, I am doing nothing.

You are so talented and I can garden but that is it. I did some gardening this afternoon. An area that needed some work was in the shade, so I rushed, got my tools and hit it.

I had to take a break and walk the dogs, put the garbage and then feed the dogs. I dead headed some zinnias and threw the seed around. I did that several years ago and the next spring they came up. I have been dead heading a neighbor's down the block and I will rake and sow them this Thursday. My hardy hibiscus are just about done blooming so I may cut them back this Thursday. Thursday is the day my garden helper comes to assist me with the big stuff.

Betty I am so sorry about the pain you have. I take Mega Red Joint Control. I get it on Amazon and it really helps my minimal back pain. My sister uses it for her shoulder. She has gotten much relief and bought another brand that as cheaper and got her pain back. She is now back on Mega Red. A friend told me about it and I didn't notice any difference until the 29th day. On the 29th day I no longer needed to take my Motrin at 2pm. Now I no longer take Motrin. Tylenol 3 acts like an upper for me. I have another friend that has terrible pain and she uses CBD oil. It is legal here in Nevada. I think a lot of individuals use it in the closet.

Betty, that cat on your patio chair looks just like my Boots.

Karen, I pray you are getting your strength back.

Pat, sounds like you are having a blast. Pretty soon you will not have enough hours in a day to do all you have on your plate. I am very selfish when I am making appointments to leave my home. I do not want to get up early, must be after I feed and walk the dogs but has to be before 3pm. Right now it is not difficult to get an appointment but I will be having problems when they get busy again. I have my nails done every 3 weeks, hair every 7 weeks and see my doctor every 6 months. I need to get a life. But have to wait until the virus is gone.

I cancelled my trip to Washington and Oregon. Just too many airports and too many people. My son and his family are disappointed but we will just make it later when this mess is over.

Hugs to all of you.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Call Drs. office again yesterday. Told again I would get a call back. Still waiting. I know they have many sicker than I, but really how long does it take to make a call?

Sharon I have to schedule my time also but for a different reason. I have chronic diarrhea. as soon as I eat, I have to go several times. Unless I need to get fasting blood work, I make appointments for early afternoon when things have calmed down. This is just something I live with and plan around. I had a year of testing and proceedures with no cause ever found.Even was sent to UofM Med.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, I am so sorry that you deal with that ALWAYS. I have to "make plans" for the next hour after I eat but rarely longer than that.
CBD is legal most places, it has NONE of the active hallucinagenic that THC contains. To be honest, most find it more effective with some THC.

Ok, my "hour is up" so time to paint.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you have to deal with your pain Betty. I know that is not fun.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

This getting old business if for the birds. Better than the alternative but does it have to be so painful?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, Sharon, your gardening is far more creative than what I do..envy your skills and to work in that heat is mind boggling. Sorry you had to cancel your trip, know you and the family were so looking forward to it. Sad..

Karen, feel for you, you are right, could make a call for sure..I’d rather have someone say we the are too busy to call vs saying they will and don’t.

Yes it is legal here and I have cbd + minimal the in it but it’s sitting on shelf, something in my just doesn’t want to take it..must say the cbd salve works.

What a day, went to Cookstown to meet up with mom so I could get aunt Muriel and drive her home, she lives about 8 miles from me..I nearly get to her house and she tells me she forgot her purse in mom’s vehicle, grrrrr

I had to call her daughter and have her meet us at seniors complex, she wasn’t happy..so guess I have to make another trip to Cookstown to get her purse...Sharon came with me, we couldn’t get one word edgewise, poor old gal. Maybe I will call her so she can make the drive with me when I go.

Picked up my pills and then made a batch of spaghetti sauce for Sharon and I and am now looking at the clock..tired

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are getting upstairs all arranged. YAY!!!! Bathroom is mostly done. Have a ton of cleaning to do up here now too. Everything is so dusty. Had a lot of boxes and such sitting around waiting to be emptied.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I went to my SisIL's last night and we cut denim blocks for 5 hours! Some of the blocks need to be pieced to be big enough. When I'm done with the piecing, I think we will have enough for 72 x 90 blanket to replace the one I made her son 25 years ago. She's re-backed the old quilt as least once already. I'm excited, we want to have it done for his October bday.
A good friend donated most of the jeans & next time, we'll check "for the size" of block that will fits best and not go with the 9.5 x 9.5 I usually cut. We had to seam, or straddle welting, or open side seams to cut almost every piece! Glen is NOT a very big man!!
I got the 2nd coat of white & just about everything yesterday but the one piece of facia. I need to get paint clothes on & get that done before the day gets away from me. The facia should NOT be painted in direct sun for best results.
Karen, congrats on the progress, feels great I am sure!
Betty, I had the same issue with my aunt. Now, before I leave to take her home, I ASK and check MYSELF.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Last week I had 2 tests done - a VQ scan on my lungs, and an Electro-cardio on my heart, re: clots in my lungs 2016 & 2019.
Specialist called me Tues & told me he was very pleased with the results - my lungs are looking healthy, and my heart has gone back to it's regular size (the right side was enlarged slightly, due to strain on it from the blood clots). He wants me to get a re-test in a year, but in the meantime I will continue to take warfarin & get my blood checked for levels every 2-4 weeks. This is standard procedure.
After talking to the specialist, I was grinning from ear to ear & *ran* off to tell Bob (working on a neighbour's home). He was grinning when he heard.

Ladies - masks - thinking about doing pleated masks - anything special I should know about making them? They'd fit better, I'm sure, on the face...... although it's more the fit from ear to ear that's causing me grief.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, glad to hear your results were GREAT!

May I suggest the sides, you turn over and make a channel, (or finish with "bias tape" to make the channel) run ONE long piece of elastic thru the channel up and over to other side and back around so it goes OVER your head & behind your head. It takes all the pressure off your ears and it is then adjustable for length. You will maybe want to make the mask a little longer side to side to be SURE you have adequate coverage. This is ONLY style I will wear. Whether you make a pleated or a Olson mask, I just make sure the elastic is continuous and over head & behind head, NOT loops over the ears.

Leaving for several days to visit son & wife, later all!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Have a great trip Pat.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Pat - ONE continuous elastic, so that's all you see, or it looks like two, but is really one elastic?
Do you have a picture?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone. We made it through another week.
Still hot here. Supposed to be 107 today.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm following Pat's suggestion & making masks with one continuous elastic - I LIKE them! No more adjusting the sizes!!! I've adjusted three for people already & now I won't have to!!! What a stress reliever - THANK YOU, Pat! Continuing with making the Olsen masks. 💖

Morning...Sunshine day here, lordy I’ve been missing 8n action for a few days..just like days of old, Darlene and John were here doing mosquito’s, Greg and Mel drooped in, Cathy brought me blackberry muffins..problems on the front with mom and aunt Muriel, June dropped in for a chat, we decided she and Pat will come sew Tuesday’s again, Linda came and sewed all day on her baking sets for grandsons, ohhh the metal and plastic small cooking sets were adorable, hard making oven mitts in the miniature but we did it.

Trying to decide if I want to take a quick run to midland in search of smaller wine glasses for fall fall trio projects or go another day.

See you are all doing ok, making progress, keeping well and some visiting..not confident yet to venture too far but feels nice not to feel one in. In jail..,

Going to grab a coffee and make my decision as to today’s project.

Might work on my ghost bench pillow

Have you decided on yours? Too hot to have an outdoor project in your neck of the woods?

Raining hard for some time here. Good thing mowing was done yesterday.
Finally finished 30 some flags for Color Guard. Had to replace a silver strip that was removed (a poor job of it) and then they were used without being hemmed. They were very shredded on the bottom. Had to trim that off to even and then re attach the silver, also shredded from removal. I used the over locker to reattach and then sewed that down folded over. We tugged on them and they seem pretty secure. Hard to tell what will happen to them on the field. Trimming that sliver was a mess. Machines and room are covered in silver threads like glitter. First thing will be a good cleaning. Probably be finding it for months. Things you do for the kids.

Betty - that bench looks so cute! Getting ready for Hallowe'en, eh? Looks like a cozy spot to relax, in your garden. Does it get a lot of sun?

I'm making Olsen masks the new way now - so much easier to fit!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh my Karen, it’s like Christmas glitter, all over the darn place, think there is still some around...these things the grands will remember. Did you need the rain?

Yes Susan, the good part of the gardens are full sun but I’ve enough trees, umbrellas and decks that if I want shade I have it.

Went to town, don’t you find it just does you in?? Everyone is so used to masks and arrows that it’s just the norm now...heaven forbid if you gorge something, as it’s back to square 1.

Few friends were saying we should have a Christmas craft sale thanksgiving weekend (October 10th) seeing all Christmas craft sales will be cancelled, still nice enough to be outside and we could wear masks.

Must be a lot of people drinking wine, lol, I went into town to buy 12 of 2 other size if wine glasses for craft and could only find 1/2 of them..will have to make a trip to Barrie one day..hate all stickers on them so in dishwasher in hopes it will make them easier to come off, too lazy to use goobegone 😜

Hold the Christmas Craft sales earlier, cuz you can't hold it later? Sounds backwards to me. Maybe I'm reading it wrong - have it earlier cuz you can have it outside & therefore easier to distance & therefore safer?

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

111 here and that, even in our neck of the woods is hot.

I will not be doing much gardening this week because we are suppose to be in triple digits all week. I do have a few items, in the courtyard. that need to be done but I will do that after dusk. Remember, we do not have mosquitoes here.

i worked in the garden Thursday and worked on my compost pile, mulching big cutting for over 2 hours. Memo to self. Put through chipper before you put them in the pile.

I am waiting for some hummer food to cool down so I can clean and refill the two feeders in the back. I also have many birds taking showers in my Koi pond waterfall.

I got a surge of energy about 10pm lat nights, so I mopped my kitchen, cleaned two rugs and cleaned the kitchen. So I really have nothing to do. I have some reading to catch up on, so that is my plan.

Pat is gone for a few days. I bet Linda is sweltering also. Karen, good job on the flags. You are a good grandmother.

Betty, you can't find wine glasses and I cannot find diet root beer. It is actually amazing what is in short supply. Every week it changes. The garden centers finally got in cactus soil mix. Been out for months.

My crazy tuxedo cat woke me up at least 5 times last night wanting to be petted. Then she would lay next to me and go to sleep. Dogs just ignored her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, light rain for now but heavier around noon..shut off a/c off and opened all the windows for some fresh air, likely have to shut them shortly as the dampness causes them to ache.

Greg and Mel called me at 2 yesterday wanting me to come spend the night, I had already taken my bath and on my way to bed so that was a no go.

Sharon don’t know how you can feel energetic in this heat..you are right, it’s amazing what you find in short supply.

Have a chirpy this morning begging for peanuts and I have nine, couldn’t find any..
Many of our contractors and people wanting to do work on decks and various contracting projects cannot do them, hardly any building supplies..is it same there?

Susan, reason for the Christmas craft sale on our thanksgiving is again because I could have it outside, if it rains could find alternate location, don’t want59 have one when the snow is here

This morning I was out and cut a bouquet of flowers..have been doing that for awhile, normally I don’t cut.

Have the wine glasses I bought yesterday out, will give them a coat of glass and tile medium and let them dry so likely tomorrow I can base coat glasses orange and some beige..

Hoping to work if not finish bench pillow, p, if it does turn out I could put it in the sale

Also picked a few pine cones, trying to bleach them..I’ve got some energy today so best make use of it..

Checking to see for Karen if site is down

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ah good it's back for me.
Whew, cleaning up all the dust upstairs from the remodel. I see a few cob webs too but will have to see if Bryan can get them down.
I had bought a cabinet on line for a linen closet in the bathroom but because of our barn style roof, the walls slanted in too much for the height of it. Found a pretty dry sink that serves as well. Had no problem selling cabinet for what I paid for it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You will have to show us some upgrade photos Karen..love dry zincs.

Raining off and on the all day, now in couch with feet up..mom is here, watching baseball and I’m contemplating going to bed.

Sharon was here for supper, hard to believe the day is almost over.

Painted 8 smaller wine glasses in orange, need the tan glasses done but tomorrow is another dAy right.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

This is the dry sink. To the right of it is where the old sink was against the wall to the right. It's a big room why they had such a small vanity & sink is beyond me.The wall needs a bit of work because of water damage.

I have no idea what a dry sink is used for. But it is beautiful.

We are 114 today breaking another record. Going to be brutal all week. I did water some plants that run by the driveway and then watered some near the back patio. I have the Sunday paper read. Vern's son came by to pick up groceries I picked up for him. I am trying to keep him at his home because if he gets sick, I cannot take care of him.

Betty, lucky you about the rain We have a mess in our skies because of the fires nearby in California and up by Reno.

I have no appointments until the 11th of September, so more than likely, I will not leave the neighborhood. I actually like weeks like that but usually the temps are lower so I can catch up in the garden.

But Betty knows, you never catch up in the garden.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

DG has been down since yesterday for me. I kept getting error 500.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Me too Linda. Then it worked a bit and back to error. We'll see how long it goes this time.

Sharon, before indoor plumbing, a dry sink had a basin and pitcher of water. Cupboards held towels and wash cloths. Often they had a rack on top to hold a towel or sometimes a mirror for shaving. This is not personal knowledge, I've seen pictures. LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

morning all, can see some blue in the sky for now, yesterday is was such a light all day rain, great for gardens.

Sharon, Vern would be proud,of you looking after his son and teaching him to gain some life skill that will help him live on his own. Those are some temps, is it normally as hot i there this time of year or like many of us a change in weather pattern.

Great description Karen of the cupboard..your bathroom walls are exactly what was in my bathroom..few years ago decided to paint them, for me it made a nice change as I was upgrading the washroom

Mom will be leaving today, not quite sure what time, she has a vets appointment and not sure if the time..
Meanwhile I will sit and gab with her while working on wine glasses.

Last visit I think I showed you the beautiful Xmas mice she gave me, yesterday aunt Muriel sent me angels, not sure where I will put then, likely hang in the Xmas tree.
Think they are purging and bit by bit things are comes here lol

Coffee time, love the quietness off the morning

Good morning looks its gonna be another hot day here. we've had about 105 to 108 temps. we sure do need the rain

Wow I finally got in. DG has been down for a couple of days for me.

Had to call Amazon's Help Line and I was blown away by the service. I was able to understand the agent and her instructions were clear. She was very patient with me bumbling around. Most important thing is my Kindles are up and running.

Sharon I have a hand made dry sink that sits in my dining room. I store my 'good' dishes in it. Plus I have an old basin and pitcher that my grandparents used to wash up.

Beautiful day here, sun is shining and there is a lovely breeze. We had a heavy rain overnight.

Went to the local Farmers'Market on Sat and was very disappointed. They moved it from the village to a spot about 15/20 min. away. There were only 6 vendors. But I did get some tasty tomatoes.

Chaos was very saucy earlier today. He thought he should be allowed be able to swim across the creek to visit a couple sitting there fishing.

Stay safe, well and cool

Victoria Harbour, ON

Beyond hot for me Lindakay..bet even inside you aren’t getting the urge to sew?

Dianne, we had tornado warning earlier, was called for mega rain but so far that didn’t happen.did Chaos scare the fish away lol
Is wonderful when you get a representative that really goes all out for you,..know how much you read so a godsend they were able to help with kindle, don’t know much about kindles, as they just for reading now or are they a useable tablet.

The little Friday afternoon market downtown has few vendors as well, imagine it has lots to do with weather we have been having as well. Won’t be long cottages should be heading back soon but then with Covid working from home and the school situation perhaps they won’t be going home.

Mom went to vets at 3:00 then left for home, my tub is calling my name, by the time I’m out I’ll call and see if she made it home without mishap..was worried about weather but she was adamant she was going home.
