Best/Worse/What I’d I learn Today..Pull Up a Chair,come chat with friends, everyone welcome!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

What a LOVELY picture & radiant bride!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my. 60 years is awesome. I know your family will love the photo.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, calling for rain..high of 41 while feeling like 34, won’t be able to work outside today....

Karen, love the photo, look forward to seeing the one being taken today..
Saw that many photographers are being creative, taking photo’s of families through windows etc and printing them with a 2020 logo of sorts.

I would imagine Darlene and John are exhausted, messaged as the passed by to say they were waving ‘hi’

Brian should be here around noon, not much I can do downstairs..got it swept and washed, was tired, not a wonder I fell asleep around 8 and slept until 7:30 after a few wake up calls from Ziggy. So odd, usually he wants out most of the day at this time of year, goes out and shortly at door wanting in almost as though they know what is going on..

Deb are you still working outside the home..sure all dog shows have been cancelled?

Debbie how are you doing without your regular doctor appointments. I’d Paul being productive seeing he is home.

Judy is Steve without work as well? Don’t hear much about Chicago area being in full quarantine..

Was just listening to Dr. sonjay who was saying the machines can be of some use, many have them so that would be helpful with Covid19

Off for 2nd cup of coffee then will start to clean craft room, clean machine and prepare projects to work on for next week, my life will be quieter with construction done for now.

What are you all up to today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Going to turn in the facemasks, stop at Walmart to get a few things, then back home.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

10 hours at work and prepare for transition to working from home. Now that I have practiced at work, I feel more confident. Let's see how today goes & whether I feel like I have mastered it or not!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I've been working at home all this week, Betty. Illinois is on a shelter in place order. That was announced last Friday. I have a program called Teamviewer on my computer at work that lets me access it from my home computer. Everything works, it's just very slow.
The dogs are happy I'm home. They are in and out a dozen times a day. Most dog shows are cancelled through at least the middle of May. My club cancelled our show in early June, which was a real disappointment for me. It was supposed to be on my birthday, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend a birthday.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Facemasks? I must have missed something here.
You must be talking about protection masks, right?

Verona, ON

Karen what a sweet photo of you and your DH.

The first time I got married we had the whole 9 yards with a trousseau tea, huge wedding, lovely meal, a dance with a free bar (my family didn't pay for that) and all the photos one could wish for. When Warren and I married we didn't ell anyone except the 2 people who stood up with us.I have 2 quick snaps that Linda took at the spur of the moment.

Working on my rug hooking. We've had a couple of small walks. My knees especially my left one is giving me the business. I was supposed to have it replaced a few years ago but declined. After all the trouble with my right knee replacement I am very hesitant to do it again.

Deb very disappointing about the dog show being cancelled on your BD. I am sure your pups are overjoyed to have you home. Mine are used to that but I am restless so going outside more. When I get my coat the TH get this look that says "Again?" I started to rake where it is not still frozen plus I have a huge amount of fall. Betty did you get. some of your fall picked up ?

New super duper flea and tick collars recommended by my Rotti friends are on the TH.. Chaos just hates anything new or changed so is pouting. I can't even move his bowl from where I first started to feed him. He just lays down and whines. I tried to wait him out but that didn't work either. I hate whining so eventually decided it was easier to feed him in the same spot with the same bowl every day.

My friend in Egypt just called and he sounds quite unsettled. That's not like him at all. He thinks they will be sending them home soon. I told him I would go shopping for them so they had groceries once they arrived.

So Betty is Brian finished this week ?

Judy are you and Grandma exercising today ?

I gained a little too much weight this winter so am working at losing it. It's not going too well though.

Stay safe and well everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

No Dianne, he was suppose to come and finish today but changed it to tomorrow...his asthma did him in, I am disappointed but I can wait.

No my leaves did not get done, my guy who does it thought he would beat the snow but didn’t..Worse part was he came and took mega limbs off, one a big trunk and it’s all laying on the ground, I’m not happy about that but once again I must wait and be patient..no way my shoulder would take the raking, besides most is still frozen to the ground...looked out at the pond, thinking ohh ohhh...

About reno’s, not sure if I told you before but I worked last night and this morning in filling my car with building debris, metal, drywall, ceiling tiles etc only to find out dump is closed for duration of this virus..guess with nowhere to go it will stay where it is.

Before this spring ends with all that is going on I should really be a patient soul lol

Your friends are lucky to have you as a neighbor Dianne. How are you doing on your project, slower than you thought?

Deb, how disappointing for you, were you trying for points for special level? Just getting away would have been nice. Nice that you can work from home and not get laid off..is your daughter able to work?

Karen, did you get your photo taken?

Susan, my protective masks have elastics and Lindakay’s have ties but are basically the same...fills in the day but not as much as LIndakay?

I With moving everything around downstairs I found a large ball of wool, my godson had mentioned he had friends that came up from states and do so every winter ice fishing and they admire his knitted neck piece that I put deer hide on so went and got my needles out, thought I’d enjoy knitting, guess it’s been in it’s plastic bag for a decade it had a smell to it, thought ok maybe if I spray fabreeze on it it will be ok.. cast on 100 stitches, knit 2 purl 2 and thought to myself if I knit this and smell doesn’t go I won’t be happy so pulled stitches off the needles and in garbage it went. There went that project. I have one of my knitting machines set up in basement, maybe I’ll do them on that.

Dianne you will understand my next dilemma, looked through my stained glass supplies, thought I’d organize myself in tool room grrr all my copper tape is ancient, to the garbage it will go..Pat was telling me the stained glass studio takes orders, Gail meets you at the door with it so when I’m certain I will start a project I will place my order...batting 100 aren’t I..can’t seem to settle down!

Well Betty you went to great length to make sure you couldn't buy anything. No room in the car for anything. That's disappointing though about the dump though.

Copper foil ummm my fingers felt it passing through as I read your post.My right hand was quite muscular and very much bigger than my left when I did SG full time.It is still larger than my left but not as obvious. After I retired from the SG business I got rid of every piece of glass, supplies and equipment I had. My basement never looked so big. At the farm house we each had our own workroom so here we were on top of each other.

Hope everyone is managing well in these strange times.

Yesterday

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I asked my boss if she would like me to make her a mask, in a green dog print. She was ecstatic! Green is her color of choice, I mean EVERYTHING she owes is green and she is a big dog lover.
I looked for a good cat print but could not find anything that really did it. I'd like to make a cat print for my Lead Case manager. Guess I'll have to look HARDER.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Went out for the first time in a week. I just wanted to top off a few things I was running low on at the grocery store. The streets were eerily quiet, the store was fairly well stocked. Think I'm good for two weeks, now. I was really surprised by the gas prices. I filled up a week ago when it was $1.79!

I hope everyone is staying safe.

Dang. I thought our gas was good at $1.82.

Glenview, IL

Hi everyone, We are all safe here...

Lol, wow so much to comment on...
First and foremost, lol before I forget

Karen what a wonderful Anniversary gift to your family.
How inspiring 60 years, I sure we can make it that long and may you have many more. Very cool with the porch photo I do hope you will wear your orchid. That is just too cool. Also, will the photographer take more than one? ...well snap my fingers, just had a fun idea for us too, our 35 is Easter Sun. Lol hear my thought, wear mask in one of them, I’ll have to whip up a few for us and GGs Nurse!

Wow Linda Kay That is a lot of masks...I think I’ll give it a go tomorrow. I haven’t had single day just to myself in a long long time. Lol, I think I’ll even close the door and the thing I miss the most quiet with just the birds and nature sounds, sigh, yep closing the door! I am just so happy to see them home in there old stomping grounds And I am sure I saw an LK today! (Hummingbird) you know, big smiles here!

ohhh and , sigh too Cuz I totally forgot what I was going to say, hands fly to the hips, maybe it’ll come back. Roflol

Deb, so smiling, I know working at home you and your dogs would be happy!
But I do have a recommendation for you. MJ is Breenie’s best friend, she is a dog walker as well as caring for other animals. MJ has cared for our Pegasus and Flo.
SoI asked her if I could give you her number, so should you be in a bind in the future..let me know. Awe sorry you have to be disappointed on your bday. Maybe you could just have a day of fun with them! Oh my gosh I hope you take some pictures! Uh when is your birthday? Oop, sorry but I’m too lazy to look it up.

Pat, awe how neat, most assuredly it was a great smile to see. you actually reminded me of my sil, he is a veterinarian nurse. Still working. So I’m thinking he and colleagues could use one. I hope that you will enjoy working from home, It was very enjoyable for me, just have to remember to take breaks. It’s kinda like sewing, once you get into project, well you know, time just slips away.

Diane, gotta say, Oh, oh please give the Th some armwraps from me! Lol never a dull moment! I told Julia about the turtles on the lane. she has turtles that are laid and hatched right in her front garden! Uh they are snapping.
I still smile at my humming bird and floral sg, my craft room is full of all my treasures from all of you.

Betty, Betty...hmm not sure how we can keep you in one place, maybe work a puzzle and I mean an actual jigsaw puzzle? It will keep ya busy for hours, and days no matter how fast your energizer heart goes, lol and wink. Well glad to see you got the masks figured out, wanna share? Thought I saw post somewhere.
So glad your redecorating is almost complete.
Steve is allowed to work because his sites are empty., JHC has stopped all
Work...he has been finishing the last of the jobs because we were Togo on our cruise..the man is driving me insane to stay &*#*#&put.
Jacobs festivals have all been cancelled to July?

Suzan, so glad your daughter is checking up. Sure is a loving feeling. Stay well.

Oh my gosh been typing for hours, keep getting interrupted! So going to say good night. Nighters everyone stay safe.
Winks and armwraps

Judy the photographer took 9 photos. I'll have to decide which I want to give my family.
I cannot wear my orchid, it's very dry and brittle and would just crumble away.
DGD sent me photos of Clara and Millie. Millie is going to have her first birthday on Wed. and it breaks my heart to miss it. They are very big on books and reading.

Afternoon everyone !!

Dull, rainy, dreary day here. The weather certainly does nothing to lift one's spirits.

Judy the snappers lay their eggs right by the house on the lane. I was just looking at some photos I took last year. It takes the turtle forever to finally like a hole they have dug to lay their eggs in. I've seen a turtle dig as many as 8 holes before they are happy. It's a long process - hours and hours.

Karen even though you can't wear your orchid what a treasure it is.

There isn't a joint on my body that isn't back talking to me today. Have some super duper pains killers which I might have to break down and take 1. Our local GP's office is closed right down - another victim of Covid. There must be some sort of process set up so one can refill meds once you have run out.

Still battling the ticks. The TH don't have fleas so the bites I am getting aren't from them. The TH's new flea/tick collars seem to be working dandy fine. I sure hope it lasts for awhile.

What's everybody doing to keep occupied ?

Pat did you get everything sorted out about working from home ?

Liz what are you up to these days ? Sounds like you'll (meaning Cali) will soon be in the same situation as NY is now.You work from home, right ?

Betty this weather is doing nothing to help you and I get our yards cleaned up. Kieran is coming Wed to move and stack wood so I think I will give him some other jobs if he is up for it. K's dad decided to go for a swim yesterday. His DW has it on video. The fool dived in, swam to the ice left in the middle of the river, swam back and immediately went to the hot tub with a beverage in hand.

Stay safe, well and practice social distancing safely.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was a productive day, non stop, overdid so now paying..will respond tomorrow..did make a big supper and not interested in eating..even made a coconut pie, it will have to wait til tomorrow to be eaten..

Thundering like crazy

Off to bed

Hoping you are all keeping well

I still have bugs to work out before I can work from home & I am reluctant to give up my 4 days @ 10. That is still my schedule for now.

Getting ANYTHING done at work is difficult, every hour or so another Management Bulletin comes thru directing to do something "immediately". We start it and then ANOTHER comes with a slightly different version & we have to start over. Yep, you guessed it, now the STATE has given us more questions they expect us to call and ask EVERY client we have. I have 85. WHERE does professional judgment come in?? I wish they would let us do what we know how to do and stop trying to micro-manage us. (enough of a rant)

Kevin is still driving back and forth from here to Portland (about 3.5 hours away) every weekend. I wish he would not. It certainly is adding my concerns and stress.

OK, time for me to put my Big Girl Panties on & go do something productive & stop whining.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi - trying to keep safe & healthy. Trying, anyway. Thurs evening I thought "hmm my gland feels a little swollen, and my throat's scratchy....... few sneezes - nah, only a common cold" right? maybe not - so, for at least 2 weeks, I'm housebound.
Heard from a friend in Australia - he'd phoned me a couple of times and we didn't answer lol didn't recognize the "odd" phone # so didn't answer & he didn't leave a message. Bob's like that - won't leave a message on the answering machine. Oh well

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Keeping you in our prayers Susan.

Glenview, IL

Good Monday Morning...

Awe Karen, so sorry you won’t be able to wrap your arms around Clara for her fist Birthday, sure hope you can have a FaceTime with her.
never thought I’d like the ft but, wow I can hardly wait to see them, and my girls.

Betty, it’s is really sweet your family and friends have brought you flowers to brighten your day...Geesh, Hope you get to feeling better.

Ok so you asked about excercing with the Grandma, yep every single day we go through a series of them. Takes about an hour. the last PT has her doing a mojority of them on he bed, so I practice baton while watching and keep the count. Then because I don’t do the with her, I do them myself while she watches Jeopardy. Should exercise gets interrupted, we walk. If it’s Sunny outside, iciky days from one end of the house to the other, lol I call them house laps.
On Thursday, we did another painting, she really enjoyed that. .
Breenie took Evelyn for aDoc appointment right around here so stopped in and they enjoyed painting too.
I will tell you I was not happy and gave her a verbal bashing about what stay at home order means. I could understand the doc visit it was time for shots.
Anyway I don’t think she will be visiting till has been cleared. And I pray several times a day for the world and this thing doesn’t creep in here...I’ve been a cleaning fool again, not funny but lol.
...So we did a Magnolia tree this this time, sigh she hated her first painting so tore it up sealed it in envelope and threw it away! This one she liked.

Susan, I sure hope you too are feeling better, I sure hope it is just the common cold..In Normal time this cold and flu do to the crazy weather. Drink lots of water...lol I sound like a broken record around here and of course get rest.

Yesterday, I was quite pleased, I conquered the Mask with pocket! So far I only made Three, gathered enough material to make 10, its a good start. Decided on plain white so they can be washed and bleached. I will give 3 to Linda, GGs nurse, 3 to my neighbor, he is a Doctor, and three to future SIL, he is Veterans Nurse. I am going to make some for the Extended Living place and the RH place she was at..

lol, forget closing the door, they just knock and come in anyway, sigh. Lol.
Well time to get breakfast forGG...enjoy the day and the Sunshine.
Stay healthy and safely

P.s. veterinary, not veterans.

Judy, you are a great caregiver. Doing a good job of keeping your mom's mind and body healthy.

Maybe in a few days we can take a drive into the mountains for a change of scenery. See what we can see for spring opening up.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

feeling no better, no worse. Didn't get enough sleep, but that's not unusual.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sending Prayers for ALL of us... here and the world.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all..busy day and a bad news day..

Here is hoping all is ok Susan..off to hospital if you feel worse.

My friend Elizabeth that I painted in a Barrie with for years died as did her hubby within 2 days of each other of Covid19..they live in Orillia ...I would from time to t8me pick her up when we went to weekend seminars so he could have the vehicle..really nice couple.

Then aunt Muriel who weighs but 85 lbs had nurse services check up on her as the do daily, it was Friday night and she was in her P.j.’s, she was coughing, they took her temperature and said it was awfully high so called ambulance, they did the nose swab, sent her home and said they would advise her in 72 hrs as to the results.

Betty, I am so so sorry. Tight Armwraps.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry to hear that Betty. Sending prayers.

Happy birthday Liz. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Birthday greeting Liz..hope the day is special in every way.

Elizabeth had some medical issues but Lyle was healthy..when they heard of the warnings they decided to stay in other than Lyle going out for groceries and meds and family say still cautious but.....

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I'm sorry Betty. At least they went more or less together. One was not left behind.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

So sorry Betty, these are scary times. Not many cases here but still very worrisome.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, brrr 34f, chilled to the bones, up went my furnace to 75

It is all, over, the silent killer..I don’t panic, i am t tad more cautious but staying in unless it’s a must and even then I check out what safe guards they’ve taken..

Glad you are all keeping safe..I’ve dozens of projects I’ve had on the go or wanted to do that are coming, out of the cupboards, need to be entertained.

For the Easter 3 1/3” Easter blocks I had I decided to do a faux rag throw..only for Easter so don’t want to take up a lifetime working on it lol

Ziggy wants in, best I go let him in

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Eager to see what a faux rag throw looks like.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

My lead gave notice at work, last day is 4/10. I shutter to think who we are going to get as replacement.

I am starting the 8 to 5 tomorrow, I made the decision when they announced another change! .We are encouraged to work ONLY couple of hours for 1 day per week to do our printing etc. Get it done and get OUT. Work from home as much as possible, as little IN office as possible. .

The state keeps printing new management bulletins every day, each adding or altering the one before it. Requiring different stuff from us. Hard to keep track of all the changes so rapidly, takes hours of your day to just read all the stuff they are sending. Each case manager is required to contact all 85 of our clients and fill out forms by end of the day 4/3! Unless they stop revising the forms and sending more stuff to read, that is not going to happen.

the pharmacy where I get my meds just shut down for a bit. One of the employees tested positive. In 3 months I wonder how many of my clients will be alive after this pandemic. Will all of us at the office make it? Here, on Davegarden? and my family? Who will I lose, or just as likely, me. this whole thing feels surreal.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - so sorry to hear about your friends & your Aunt Muriel. So sudden.
Glad to hear that you're taking good care of yourself.
I'm feeling a lot better, but of course if I had COVID-19 and recovered, that does not mean that I can go out so I'm not. I'll probably be home for another couple of weeks, so I can get things DONE lol Things I normally go to will be cancelled anyway.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Big long string of naughty words!!!!!
Hubby talked with Basement company, They want to for all practical purposes start over and make everything bigger and deeper. This means, the furnace has to be moved and then replaced by the furnace company, again. All the paneling has to be removed from one end and the side where my machines are. Not sheet paneling by the way, it's individual boards. Everything on that side of the basement has to be moved to the other side.
They will pay for the ruined carpet and reimburse us for our time and work we have to do. I'm seeing at least another month of no sewing depending on when they get started. Hoping the weather is good as we will be without a furnace for a few days.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh no. Sorry to hear that Karen. I think I would be saying naughty words too. Praying it can be fixed quickly.
Can you move your sewing equipment upstairs temporarily?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda, there are seven of us in this house, truly there is no place to put what I would need. I just told hubby if I moved 87 things, I would need the 88th and wouldn't be able to find it. I know I have too much sewing stuff but I do use it all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning all, love opening thread and seeing you post, worry about online friends/family.. will almost hit 50 today..I’m itching to get out and work in the yard but practicing patience as I know I will pay big time if I do go out as I’m not one to do 20 minutes then stop so thinking about how my day will go.

Karen, sorry to hear about your basement needs so much work and extra upgrades, been there and it’s no fun..took mega months, big sigh. I unlike you was lucky enough that the company doing the work set me up with a sewing room in back bedroom. Is there any craft, project that you could take up to fill in your day?

It’s been years since I did some drawing, last time I think I did photo’s of the grands, that doesn’t take much room, something for you to consider,,know you are lucky and can get outside, even if it’s only to enjoy!

Susan, thanks for asking..aunt Muriel does not have Covid19 but because she is 84 lbs soaking wet so was advised no going out.

Sharon’s daughter Nikki was working and got bulletin they are to stay home,co-worker was confirmed as having the virus so inside for 14 days as well as Sharon and Brian I’m assuming..

Oh my Pat, the situation doesn’t get any better for you re work..they must realize one can only do so much under these circumstances.

Can see that a lot of people are starting to show signs of depression.

Dianne are you getting the nice weather.

Deb, how are things going in your neck of the woods?

Judy and Liz, sending hugs

I had big intentions yesterday but got side tracked..Ann called to say her girlfriends hubby is dying of cancer at home. his kids wanted to come to support mom and be with dad and had no masks so quickly made 6, by 1pm she had picked them up and we made a trade off, broccoli soup, so I have today’s lunch.

Continued hand sewing binding on rag Easter throw...washed it and on the couch..not meant to be anything special, just Easter decor.

Tummy reminding me I haven’t had breakfast yet..

Just paid all my bills, need something fun to chance the pace, maybeI’ll do something fun and make some sock bunnies..thought I had mega supplies but no sooner do I decide to find a project to do i find I don’t have all the supplies..so let’s see what I have in stock
