Brightened up here Karen, said snow for this morning but nada, here is hoping my trip to Barrie tonight won’t have flurries..
When do you have to have your quilt done by??
I’m taking the zillion little pieces I have for that penguin throw and attaching to different pieces of flannel, pinned them, next time downstairs I will iron on then play cut-outs
Best/Worse/What I’d I learn Today..Pull Up a Chair,come chat with friends, everyone welcome!
WOW Linda !!! I am so envious.
Betty I don't have a date as yet but want to have it ready when it comes up. This is an army buddy of my BIL.
Today while out shopping I talked to 3 veterans and gave them my card. Just drumming up business. LOL
Drum up business lol you are too much
Had quite a day, I was out for supper while Sharon and Brian worked on my projects, dropped ceiling in cafe (only solution to its ceiling) nearly finished..I imagine another 3-4 hrs and it will be done and about same amount of time for washroom..will be wonderful to get back into cleaning routine.
I had such a nice supper with Paul and Penny...we talked about all the memories..they gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and had a genealogist do my family tree..great gift, so much to read..understand my grandmother 5 generations back was Iroquois and was part of the Deerfield Massacre..interesting indeed
Beautiful flowers Betty, glad you had a good visit.
WOW! What a nice gift to get your genealogy. I have tried several times, and I can't find any info on my Moms side of the family.
Sunshine day in my neighbourhood..
Paul my godson called this morning, asked me to measure my basement, called me back..I’m to meet him in barrie tonight and he has all the metal and tiles to finish the basement
Linda, site I used is called Gen Forum. You can search by state and county if you have that info. It's a free site but I haven't been there in a long time. I did get a lot of links there when I started.
Sun shining here too. Although when I walked the dogs earlier it was quite dreary.
Chaos decided he just needed to get into the swamp and greet the ducks and geese that were there The birds would all squawk and fly off. Chaos would drudge back to the lane, The birds would come back and Chaos would chase after them. Now he is sound asleep on the bed.
Stay safe and well.
Ohhh Dianne, that water must be freezing?? Sunshine is out..was thankful we missed the forecasted snow yesterday.
Got to say front and back of yard so needs cleaning of brush..although I’m exhausted I should spent 1/2 hour daily outside putting limbs in fire pit... reminds me,need to go buy a fire permit
Good Morning, awe Thank you all for such a warm welcome back.
Yep, I sure am ready for longer warmer days, think this season I will make it a point to get outside more.
Betty, what a very cool gift.
Karen, so glad your still doing the Veteran Quilts, great way to drum up business!
Diane, sure do love hearing the shenanigans of the Thundering herd. Always brings smile.
Awe Linda Kay how cool, your hummers are back! Saw my first Robins couple days ago, did Happy jig, Spring is right around the corner.
Pat, I am so very sorry to hear of Bens passing. Warm armwraps.
Hi Deb, woohoo on warmer days, oh my gosh this virus affecting the dog shows?
I have been insanely busy, well for as long as I be been gone. As you know we bought the Florida House, had to take care of stuff so was gone a couple of weeks. Meantime MIL took a fall and was hospitalized for several weeks, that was just the start. She was 82 but still pretty with it or so we thought. It was a family decision to start contemplating an assisted living situation. Fast forward, she started doing outrageous things, one was shoving plastics bags in the heater to block out cold! Forgot it was in there and ran the heat...not good. Then at 83 she fell again bashed her head on the counter and got a hairline fracture in her inner hip...so back in hospital and additional time at rehab...This time Dh and sil decided it couldn’t wait so they found her a place close by. Actually a very nice assisted living facility. Well no surprise, she hated it. Was starting to get kind of used the place, but still loosing it rapidly. Come to find out she had a raging UTI. Omg, took yet another fall ended back in the hospital...this time..another uti and severely dehydrated and this time she broke her leg clear out of the socket and hair line fracture on the other side...Now with all the meds and infections going on she was literally delirious. The hospital sent her to geriatric facility where she was diagnosed Alzheimer’s/Dimentia. Got her on really good medication. She was sent to the same rehab place, was sent back because she was violent towards the nurses... Sigh. Soo, clearly she can’t be on her own I suggested she come here and I will take care of her...So we Rearranged the Shrine to accommodate her stuff and she has been with us since Labor Day. My daily prayer is to grant me the patience to go another day.
Today is my free day or I should say a little free time...She is at Grandma Day care until 3...lol, the minute she leaves I sanitize everything she touched, what can I say other than she’s kind of gross.
Well there of course is more to the chapter but, I have to run and play outside for at least an hour...
Enjoy the day everyone.
Judy, so sorry you are having a time with MIL. We went through that and finally had to put her in a home because she simply refused the most basic hygiene. Care givers would come to help her bathe and she fought them too.
You sure have had a time of it Judy, cannot imagine undertaking looking after anyone in that condition, don’t know I could cope seeing them struggle between this world and the unknown world they are facing..medals should be given to caregivers such as you! Now tell us about those grands
Do you still have the cottage as well as the Florida house?
Brian is so close to finishing upstairs but calling it a day, as for washroom he asked if I could wait until morning before tidying up and putting all back into place as to let the caulking dry .. tired tonight so he didn’t have to coax me into it lol
Sharon had given me a nice light fixture she just bought and didn’t like he just connected it..tomorrow I will have to see if I can get one tone darker than the test paint I got for touch ups, thInk I will be painting the walls...will finish up tomorrow then life upstairs can return to normal.
Lots and lots of supplies for basement , metal and ceiling tiles
Just got back from bringing Brian home thought I’d stop in to Foodland to pick up a few things, one they have six bottles of pop for $2.99 and that’s a good deal. What was also on my list was toilet paper not to stock up just plain toilet paper that I need not a role to be found, now that’s insane
Just on line with friends, they are now buying Kleenex, before you know it that will be out of stock

Payton's trip to Disney World was cancelled last minute. They were supposed to leave in the morning. Hoping somehow they can get their money back. Next week is spring break here.
So many things being cancelled. Houston Texas stock show and rodeo, all big league basketball games. We were supposed to have the Thunderbird's here this week end for an air show. It was cancelled today.
We have WHOLE COUNTIES of school closed. I expect that will happen here too but so far NO confirmed cases in Eastern Washington but Western Washington, Seattle area and surrounding counties has been hit hard. 3 counties there have ALL schools closed.
Our church has canceled all meetings worldwide!
Before we leave our office, to meet with a client, we are required to do a verbal screening with them & if they have traveled overseas or have any flu-like symptoms, we reschedule for 2 weeks from now and start over.
I had just stocked bathrooms with toilet paper with couple of dozen rolls before all this craziness hit. Kevin is heading to Portland OR and his girlfriend & family could not find ANY toilet paper in the stores, NONE. We have some here, limit of 2 packages so Kev has bought some for them.
We are on spring break here and Michigan closed all it's schools for three weeks and then it's spring break up there.
Just hubby and I here, Jess & Bryan went to FL. Kids are at their grandmas for a few days and then their dads.
Hubby is working in the bathroom and I will be sewing. I can stock up on quilts as QOVs are suspended for now too.
Hour Prime Minister is in self quarantine as his wife has contacted it. He will have a televised session at noon.
Yes schools have been closed as of end of school day today for 3 weeks..what I don’t get if it’s closed then because of health concerns why did they not close today as well?? Quite a panic by some..
Good idea for us Karen, we’ve a lot of UFO’s or new projects we can stay on our own and do.
Wind warning up, brrr she is a cold one, suppose to get snow in a bit
Good Sunny Morning!
it really is a big a bummer all the cancellations...But, better safe then sorry.
We were scheduled to Cruise to Hawaii, we were not planning to cancel, however all cruises have been cancelled for 2 months. So I’ll be cancelling air fair today.
Jake and Amanda’s trip to Cancun just got cancelled this morning...We were going to go to Uncle Pipes Veterans Ceremony...cancelled 3 days ago. so far Jake’s Festivals are still ago but they don’t start until May.
...So I do go go to FB to catch up on family & Friends, OMG this morning a ton of TP cartoons and jokes and so I giggled and giggled until I got to a post that put me in Hysterics from Sherry,(Joyce/ sunshine’s friend.) So here it...
A little old lady with her leg raised over a hand dryer as an alternative.
Omg if I were drinking anything it would have been all over the screen and tears were rolling down my face.regain composure only to have another thought and burst out laughing again...I’m still laughing. finally take a deep breath get up and am met by Grandma. You guess it, Had to rush in front trying to contain what was trying to escape, managed to get breakfast on the table. Then the magic question of the day can we do exercises after breakfast. yepper, Literally had to run from the kitchen, I was dying, one of her exercise is leg raises all can think is good thing she can do that one by herself! Praying I can get through them with a straight face...lol I got take some breaths now!
Oh my gosh enjoy the day all.

Happy Belated Birthday, Betty!!!
Hi all - had a quiet birthday on Wed - well, maybe not quite so quiet lol Went to Red Hatters, and we played charades (I've never played it before) then Bob & I went out for dinner, then over to Dianne's for drinks & cards. Very nice day. Our Tuesday Social Group will have the monthly birthday party next Tues (St. Paddy's Day) because one of our group is in the hospital, and either she or I do the setup & decorating.
Went to the chiro yesterday & he started my hip healing. I put it, and my lumbar, out when I doing Red Hatters belly dancing the 11th of Feb. The Chiro laughted & said it was the first time he's hear tht one!!
Happy belated birthday Susan. Be careful doing those dances. We are not getting any younger, and our bones and muscles don't move like they used to.
Oh Judy, I saw that too. I laughed so hard.
Thank you, Linda Kay!
Absolutely crazy...The schools are closed and they have to make special posts......Do NOT go to the mall, the movies, the arcades. Sheesh, the idea is to keep out of crowds.
Thought I'd share this with you -
From an MD immunologist:
I don't post a lot on facebook but I would like to give my perspective and context on the coronavirus outbreak. I hope I can be a more reputable source of perspective as a physician who specializes and is board certified in immunology (as well as pediatrics, allergy and dermatology).
1. Coronaviruses are a family of viruses. "coronavirus" is not unique to this particular strain. Everyone reading this has likely had another different coronavirus infection. This particular strain has been named COVID-19.
2. Every upper respiratory virus has the potential to be lethal. Patients unfortunately die from many upper respiratory viral infections every year - most prominently the influenza virus. 30,000 people died from the influenza virus in 2019. The media didn't report each one. They have reported all 11 coronavirus deaths. Not telling us about the people lost but rather keeping a death "toll".
Let me repeat that:
-Coronavirus: 11 deaths (US in 2020), 3300 deaths (China in 2020).
-Influenza: 30,000 deaths (US in 2019).
*Influenza pandemic of 1918: 675,000! (US), 20-50 MILLION!! (worldwide)
We have the ability to lessen the potential impact of this virus, reduce the overall death toll. Closing schools, telecommuting for work and lots of other things all can contribute to ending this outbreak. My clients at work are the most fragile and susceptible of the population. I feel an obligation to reduce MY chances of catching it to avoid my chances of transmitting it to them!
I have a son, Clayton, his wife and child in China. I am afraid for them. I admit to feeling resentment towards my DIL. Son wanted to move them to US long before this, but she has drug her feet and prevented it. NOW? Questionable if US will even let them come if she agrees.
We had freaky weather and it started snowing yesterday. Got a couple of inches of snow but most has melted now.
Kev got response to his application to a job he applied for in Portland. Company contacted him Friday morning gave him choice of interview that same day at 3.30 in person or Monday by phone. He was already loaded up in the pickup with furniture and other stuff to take to Portland for his GF's mother. He left earlier than planned for Portland, interviewed. He texted me that the interview went well and he was told they would be in touch by next Friday. I hope he gets it and we can get THAT step handled and settled. He's preparing for the move, sorting and cleaning, selling off stuff etc. Maybe Kevin will be gone before his younger brother Adam moves in!! (Adam, stepdaughter 12 YO & son 2 YO AND 2 Labs & small mutt, & cat) gives me anxiety just thinking about it LOL. I tell myself it will be alright. It's only for a few months...
Enough blabbering... I need to get to work. I am considering doing a major overhaul on the sewing area. It's just NOT working for me.
Yikes Pat, that is quite a houseful you will have, not a wonder you are anxious..I’m with you, might be more difficult for your son who is in China to come home..is his wife Chinese, perhaps she knew she would be homesick and didn’t want to risk it.
Here is hoping Kev gets the job, one less worry.
Susan, thank you for this post..no I will not take chances with my or anyone else’s health but I’m also not going on the fear bandwagon. Greg and Mel were here for a few hours and we had a long discussion, they too will take precautions and life will go on!
Not sure who posted this, perhaps you lindakay on Facebook?? But I found the data particularly interesting..
Now you watch with Schools closing that many a parent will not have a sitter and will bring their children to grandma and grandpa to be looked after and guest who is most at risk is grandma and grandpa!
Went with Sharon and had breakfast out, then took her new quilter to be checked out at sewing center where she ordered it, wow talk about expensive supplies and gadgets, not often I walk out without anything but today I did.
Because I was up at 3:30am I thought I’d be early to bed but Greg and Mel came and stayed a few hours..I then finished afghan, not sure I like it..maybe Ziggy will!
Tomorrow’s project is bedroom curtains then the room is finished.
Aha, think Ziggy is comfy at end of bed, here is hoping we both sleep in
Betty, I did not post that, but it good info.
Morning all, thInk it I’ll be a sunshine day in my neighborhood, will head down to foodland and get fixing to make spaghetti sauce, pick up bread ...Should be no one I’d the store early morning ,
Rest of the day I’ll play inside. Are any of you not setting foot outside.? Have all you need for a few days? We seers certainly have enough to keep us occupied.
Good morning.
No fear of going out here, but just about everything is closed, schools, churches, grocery stores are open from 8 am to 8 pm. What is left is being rationed. There has been no cases reported here, but because we are on the border, many are scared someone from Mexico will bring it over. I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday with some friends. There were only 8 people in the store.
Good morning everyone. A sunny but very crisp day out there.
Supposed I don't have to worry about self isolation because a I do that almost every day ..... by choice.
Made German Pizza for a lunch guest on Friday. It was a hit and she took the recipe home and some for her DH.
Oh Pat you really have some worries on your plate with just your family not including your clients. My hat goes off to you as you handle all of this and still struggle with the loss of Ben. I am glad your sis is close and you spend time together.
Well everyone and everything here are following your response to Covid 19. Even our many churches in our wee village - there are 5. that are closed Although 1 church has come up with a Parking Lot service. Rather ingenious I think.
There are 2 big craft shows in TO and the other in Ottawa at the end of the month. I am very concerned for my artisan friends. If these shows are cancelled it will be a huge monetary blow. Canada Blooms a huge show in TO also closed it doors after the first day. Every one would be set up already. Now that is devastating as people come from all across Canada and some of the US to set up.Huge fees are paid to have a booth, there are travel costs plus hotels rooms. I wonder how much they will get back.
How are the renos Betty ?
Judy when is your cruise supposed to happen ?
We had an up and down night last night so the TH are crashed on the bed. I have to admit I am laying on the top of the bed. I fell asleep about 11 pm and Diesel woke me up around 12;30. He rarely does that so I knew he really had to go. I let him out, He came back in and went back to sleep. Me I am still up. Very tired but up.
Deb did you get your debit card workable?
I am so sluggish I think I will stoke up the stove and clean up the kitchen. I hope a burst of energy hit me soon.
Stay safe and well. Remember to wash your hands often.
Local churches closed here as well,I think the parking lot service is ingenious..
Cold bitter wind here as well..
The Toronto show is called what Dianne? Not one of a kind? Have to go research it..yes closing it would have such a financial impact on them.
What is different Dianne when making German pizza?? Sounds delicious.
Sitting here pinning sides of curtains so I can get them done this afternoon, Lordy my head keep getting heavier Nd heavier, perhaps I ought to have a nap first
LIndakay, they should have given you extra discounts for coming out lol
Yes Dianne, enquiring minds want to know!! I want that German pizza info too!!
Yes, Clayton's wife is a national Chinese. She speaks excellent English and does not have a good relationship with her parents or sister. Frankly, she is not making brownie points with me either!
Financially this virus will be ENMOROUS! They just canceled our annual quilt show as well. Sooo many people out of work due to closures. Those not DIRECTLY impacted by the virus will be one way or another. My sister brought up another point that I had not considered, many of those children from really poor families, those 2 meals they get at the school (breakfast & lunch), are the only meals they can count on. THAT was a disturbing thought.
My Adam and wife STILL can't get into their rented home in Wooten due to the flood damage and it's been over a month. The roads have not been repaired, not even started! The park has thankfully had DDIL work locally recently. With school closures, if she can work local, then she can avoid the long expensive commute. SOOOO much up in the air.
I did get the life insurance check this week. I had a small policy that didn't even cover the funeral expenses ( I had the funds to cover with out it ) but I can try to get other stuff in place now. Stocks are dropping like rocks. It will be interesting to see what I have left by the time I retire! Oh well...
Aren't I a bundle of sunshine? LOL.. Truly I am not worried. I will ALWAYS have a place with my sister if it ever had to come to that. I don't know... can two sewing hoarders successful share a sewing room long term? LOL
Yes Betty it is One of A Kind. The Ottawa show is called Signatures. They are back to back weekends so people who travel from across Canada and do them both with not have to pay twice for transportation.Canada Bloom closed the doors after 1 day - those poor exhibitors. They along with visitors come from across Canada. I know some ladies who fly in from BC just for Canada Blooms and One of a Kind.
German Pizza is easy - the crust is shredded potato. You need :
1 lb ground beef,
1/2 medium onion chopped
1/2 green pepper diced
2 tbl butter/margarine
6 medium potatoes peeled and finely shredded
3 eggs beaten
1/3 cup milk
2 cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella .... I use a mix
In 12 in stove top or electric fry pan over medium heat brown beef with onions, green pepper and I add garlic and pepper. I am fussy about fat so I pre fry the hamburg and drain it well before I add the onions and green peppers. The onion and peppers will cook up anyway once the whole thing is put together. On low heat in the fry pan melt butter and spread the potatoes over the butter.Top with beef mixture. Combine milk and eggs and pour over all. Cook covered about 30 min. Top with cheese, cover and heat until cheese is melted - about 5 min. Cut into wedges and serve. * I tend to add a bit more onion and green pepper.Add salt and pepper to taste.
Did battle with the wood stove yesterday. I cleaned it out completely as the bevel was clogged. I thought I broke the bevel right off until I realized it was ash dust that was moving it. What a mess - me, the room and the vacuum
OK, so very much like a quiche, sounds delicious!
Sounds good except for the onions and green peppers. Onion flavor is fine just can't abide the feel in my mouth. I use onion juice in cooking for the flavor. Neither of us like the taste of green pepper so not something I ever use.
Years ago when I was on a diet. I put onions in a lot of things that I shouldn't have so I wouldn't eat them. Worked good lost 80 lbs.
LOL, what a great idea Karen!!! Never would have thought of that. I LOVE onions so that would not work for me!
Pat, most people do, I'm in the minority there.
