My, my, my he is indeed a handsome young man.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, rained all night, just put garbage to the curb side and when I came in I thought Lordy it’s hot..really must have had a chill, thermostat was at 77..down it went.

Sniffles, headache and all that goes with it this morning but I’m thinking I’m on the mend..

Darlene is coming around 10 and we will close in back deck, know I like the sound of pond running but is done for the season..for the first time will totally empty it,hoping come spring I’ll not have as much gunk in it..later if I’m up to it, will take batteries out of all those solar lights and put them aside..last big thing will be battery in lawnmower..hoping by doing a little at a time I’ll get all done by weekends end and feel much better knowing winterizing is behind me..

Lordy I spent a lot of time looking for my good glasses, knew I had them when I went to bed, nope not there..checked every room, even checked the garbage grrr no glassed..went to bed last night, fluffing the pillow and there between the pillow and pillowcase my glasses sat.

Know as Ziggy is laying next to me he is looking out towards the bench wondering why all those Halloween pieces are taking up half the bench. Lol
What are you all up to..

Liz I think I posted instructions right?

Darlene just left, I’m going to have a bowl of hot soup, take neocitron and hot bath..she managed to get the back deck closed in which is always a concern for me.

Wow..that looks great. What did you use this time? Don't you usually use clear plastic?
Rain here. Mike my helper is in the basement painting the floor. in the rooms where there is no carpet.
He is also waiting for the spackling to dry and then sand and paint where I took the tile trim off the kitchen wall when I got the new quartz counter and sink and tap put in last week. Not going to have a backsplash. Just paint the same colour.
I am not feeling up to much..stayed up late watching the election results. Feeling a little drowsy today..

Victoria Harbour, ON

last year Carole I was at Fabricland and they were selling curtain panel sets for $5..I bought all they had in one color then had to buy a white for far side..makes life so much easier...not as bright out there but then who sits out there, no plastic to contend with..took Darlene 1 hour.

Had soup, bath and now I’m sipping neocitron..

Was in bed early but did wake up and watch last few hours of it..those celebrating and those not!

You a long list of to do’s as well.

Thinking once I have a nap I will go and get that giant size cup and saucer emptied because if it freezes before I empty it’s sure to crack.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I like those curtain panels, looks nice and cozy there.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Betty, you will have to explain to me what you are doing to your porch. I am assuming it has something to do with your cold weather and what is on the outside. Screens or windows. It looks nice and cozy and the curtains were a great find and your brain knew immediately what to do with them.

My sister is coming tomorrow for a week visit. Her husband died two weeks after Vern's passing and she is having a hard time. She does not garden and had taken care of him for several years and now does not know what to do with herself.

We are still in the low 80s or high 70s. I have two patios on the second level and one on the bottom level that wraps around the house. I cleaned the one in front today. No one ever uses it but it seemed like a good idea when we built the house. It is right outside of Vern's man cave and I thought he would enjoy using it and getting some fresh air but I was wrong. I have not touched Vern's items upstairs or his clothes. My sister is going to try and get me started on that.

I am going to be a great grandmother in March. It is a baby girl. They live in St. Louis, Missouri where her husband is going to Med school.

I do check in every night to see how you all are doing. So I do keep track of all of you. Hugs, Sharon

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nice to hear from you Sharon. Glad to hear your Sister is coming for a visit. I know it is so hard to get into a routine of your own after losing a loved one. Getting rid of their personal belongings is so hard. When we lost our mother, us kids had to go through her home, and we donated all her clothes and books the churches and the library. They were very happy to receive them.

Morning everyone..almost back to the land of the living..in the 50’s

Wind was strong this morning, more and more the leaves are falling. Ray who does fall and spring cleanup called last night to say he would likely be here in the next 2 weeks, has been putting it off in hopes more leaves will fall but doesn’t want to wait too long and find there is snow on the ground

Just got up, had night sweats all night and then started to be nauseated, took gravel and slept til an hour ago.

Sharon, nice to see you post, wonderful that your sister is coming, you will both be able to help each other through this trying time. As for my back porch, we get so much snow and the winds are terrible, even with the screens that back porch is full of snow, other than the last 2 years I had commercial plastic, I could see outside but had to spend a lot time of enclosing it as the winds would be strong enough to tear it unless I used wood scrapping to stop the flapping, with these curtain panels it means less work, just staple top and bottom..I’ll likely get another year or 2 out of them then I will make similar and put domes for easy installing and take down, had hoped I would have done it this summer but with shoulder problems it didn’t get done.

I brought the cushions in from the back patio on the weekend, I don’t trust putting them in back shed because of mice so here and there today I’m clearing back bedroom closet of Christmas quilts and throws and start trying to fit all the cushions in it.

Think later I will try and get the back patio cushions in to dry, doubtful they will all fit into one closet but am going to try, in the meantime rest.

You know you’ve too many Christmas quilts when they topple a bed

Sharon - congrats! Wonder if it will be on my birthday, when the little one is born - March 11th 😁
Betty - you have a lot of October decor! Love it 👍
Glad you like the turkey - I have 2 orders to make one (and have 2 panels, so I can fill those orders), and I'm charging $30 each. I could have sold 4 if I had the fabric 🤣

Pacifica, CA

evening all,

betty you did post instructions but im having a rough time with that size needle
im going to use a bigger one and see what happens lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone. Cooling off here. Supposed to be 81 today, dropping to mid 40s tonight. Tomorrow will be mid 60s and 40 tomorrow night.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Our weather has been fickle. Rainy and outcast some morning and then clears & warms and I'm dying of heat stroke! My office mate LOVES it WARM, and I am more of a cool temperature, so our office is always a struggle for one of us! Thankfully we each have ONE day alone out of 4.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sunshine here, cool temps but still wonderful considering we have had snow Halloween that stayed so crossing fingers we get another month or so before a white covered ground.

Liz, I had, was on sewing thread

neck scarf with fringe universal Yarn- Major( chunky)

swatch is. 15 twitches x 20 rows = 4”. I use a 5 1/2 needs

You begin with knitting on 36 stitches and knit for 6 rows

You now divide the 36 stitches by putting 6 stitches on each safety pins (you will have 6 safety pins with 6 stitches on each pin)

Now you stocking stitch the 6 stitches on the first pin for 8” cut wool leaving about 6” then put another safety pin to hold the stitches, proceed to 2nd safety pin, pick up the 6 stitches and stocking stitch same to 8” put stitches on a safety pin...continue until you have the 6 strands done all being 8” in length

You then take the 36 stitches one safety pin at a time and put them back on needle and knit every row until you have 20-21 inches,

Now we do same, divide the 36 stitches, 6 stitches on six safety pins ..here is where you have to MAKE SURE when you start knitting these 6 strands that you start so that your first row of knit knit will be on same side that the end strand knit is on or theywill be backwards.

Now knit these strands, one at a time in stocking stitch for 8”..same as you did at beginning

Now you have 6 8” strands which need to be braided..I’ll shoe photo when I get there..once weaved you add the 36 stitches back to your needle and knit 6 rows and cast off

Cut fringe in strands of 15”,fold in 1/2 and attach to sides of twisted sides Going through knit side

You will see the ends of the 6 rows you knit are flapping, I worked that in with the fridge by overlapping.

Promise next on I will show step by step in photo’s..thing is to have wool that gives you the correct tension.

Pat, girls in the office put heat at 70, those cold wear sweaters, this hot wear light clothing..

Nice temps LIndakay..

Been quite a week, still sniffling..get up and do a few things then right back to resting...will do much the same this weekend. I did run into midland yesterday afternoon as I had an appointment for change of tires, snows needed to be put on, even dropped in for a couple more skeins of wool, pretty well all the once’s I did knit have homes..

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Going to be some happy people who receive one of those special scarves. Very unique.
Well, my kitchen is back to normal with the new quartz counters, and sink and tap.
Very pleased with the change. Mike my helper is here [ainting the basement floor. Lovely day here..I have cut the grass and chopped up the leaves..easy with a rider.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Some photos..I moved the little white tower to between the dishwasher and counter..looks better there..will have a couple of shelves made for the side of the short counter that has a curved corner.

Love it Carole, looks so clean..wouldn’t mind getting mine done but think I’d have to redo all cupboard doors and not sure I’m up to that..big change as well with painted floors downstairs, are you paint8mg light colour?

Still trying to talk myself into going downstairs and vacuuming..need a push

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Yes Betty..the floors had been painted a few times over the years..and had flaked and worn. They are being painted a light gray...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice..new clean look

Feel like cold is starting again, hope just because it’s evening..just finished hot chocolate, take my meds and bedtime

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning sunshine day in my neighbourhood, today I promised myself that I have to get active..might me a little work/a little rest but maybe fighting the end of this cold by working it out of me might be what is needed..

I promised a few I would do step by step on the scarf with photo’s so will start out as I take Karen’s advice to knit vs cleaning..ok I’m taking a bit of her advice.

Can you believe Friday we will be in November? Annual buffalo Christmas shopping trip is nov.22nd so not far away.

Twisted Scarf. - post 1

See label in order to use needles that give you this tension..I use 5.5 because of my tension.

-cast on 36 stitches and KNIT 6 rows
- I keep 6 stitches on needle and put the remaining
30 stitches on safety pins in groups of 6..you will now have a set on needle and 5
Pins
- knit 1 row/purl 1 row until you have 8”, cut thread leaving about 6” of wool..put
These 6 stitches on safety pin
- take 6 stitches off next safety pin making sure when you start the knit row the knit
Row is on same side as previous knit row

Continue until you have all 6 runners done

Got half the basement dusted and swept..must say when you don’t use a family room and side ro9m it seems such a waste..only sit in it on Christmas Eve/day but dust and threads does travel.

woke up to a blizzard....... after last night's wind & rain storm. Lost power for 2 hours. Bob got a whole lot of candles & flashlights and we could see where we were going - only 1 stubbed toe for me 😂

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yikes Susan, don’t send it my way..
Reminds me that I best get the boys to check my generator

I meant to say earlier, if anyone tries the scarf please let me know or better yet post a photo for me.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hope not to - you're quite a ways away from us 😁🤞
Sun's shining now, and I can see some grass in places - peeking out under the snow. Someone said that it looked slippery out - this is our "at home" day so not planning any "trips" (pun intended!)

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

YIKES... I forget just how mild our winters are compared to some of you!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, any updates from the doctor? Sure hope you feel better.

I have been down for almost a month. Finally this 3rd antibiotic is working.

Betty I showed DH your wooden gift decor, he said he has some wood I can use.
I need to rip this house apart and clean. Nothing but fur and fiasco.....and is wearing me down.

Miss you all so very much
Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well Debbie. Please take it easy and let those meds work.

Betty, did you get your test results?
Have you figured out what this year's group project will be?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yucky day, did want to do a few things outside but no go.even Ziggy doesn’t want out! Did bring in 3 plants

Don’t know if I’m gaining ground in cleaning or making a bigger mess.

I decided I’d oil my knitting machine, don’t enjoy doing those long strands of 8” on the scarves so think I might do them on the machine, just have to match my tension..now I decide to do machine now that I’ve almost all I need 😜

As for the doctor LIndakay, I’m on his list of home calls, hoping he will come shortly.

Sharon just called, she is so sick, can’t even talk because of cough8ng and is dizzy..

Think I should get dressed and take her to emerge

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying she is feeling better soon.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sorry to hear that Betty, hope Sharon gets better soon.

Ddbbie, mess & pet fluff etc can sure drag you down, can't it? Because Ben has caregivers, I don't have much of the actual cleaning to do anymore, THAT is enormous help!

Victoria Harbour, ON

At emerge with Sharon, wearing a mask..here is hoping germs to be picked up..wearing a mask

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty be careful. Give Sharon hug from me.

Ive had sinus infection a month and so painful. Dizzy as all get out, cant bend over and head feels like bowling ball. Sure hope she feels better and you dont get sicker!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back home, can’t believe it, went in with her, her shakes are so bad, blood pressure was high and she has the cough she and my dad shared..terrible..screen said 4 hr. Wait so I left her and came home, just pulled into drive and she was ready to come home..I’m only 15 minutes away so not a problem..waited 1/2 hour for her prescription but I’m sure by now she is i back in bed with meds in her.

Debbie hugs, think your immune is run down thus you are catching everything and can’t fight anything off.have you been dealing with this cold damp weather as well?

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Goodness..so much illness..hpe all feel better soon.

Windy damp day..with a big rain earlier today. I went and got groceries..busy there today.
My friend Liz and I are going to see the movie Gemini Man with Will Smith. It is her 79th birthday..and she loves movies..especially action movies. Me..not as much..but I think I will enjoy this one from what I have seen in the trailer. First I had to download the app and learn how to reserve and pay for tickets on my phone. I managed to do that and we are seeing the 4:35 showing. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
Cheers,
Carol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh Carol, YOU are techno - SAVY, me NOT so much!! LOL... I do wish all that stuff came easier to me.

Betty, I have heard to talk about your mom lots of time. I think this is first time you have mentioned your father. Is he living near?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol hope you enjoyed the movie along with your friend, love Will Smith in any movie.

Pat my dad died about 20 years ago, lung disease he had from working with acids in the car industry, always worries me when I see Sharon coughing away like she does I see it reminds me of my dad .Are used to call every couple of days but he couldn’t talk he just listen because the minute he would start to talk he would start hacking. My dad in his earlier days would love to entertain, he would play guitar and sing, miss him!
