Goodness, Betty must be sleeping in today?
Karen, I think an easy fix would be a border.
Best/Worse,What did I learn today??everyone welc9me, old and new, come grab a chair near the fireplace and relax..
Hello girls, did a few early morning things incase ice storm moves in, the joanne dropped in and is here, will post in a bit
Thanks Debbie.l
Im here. Still having eye issue so cant get on much.
Debbie - so sorry you're still having eye issues.
I'm still alive & kicking - on Friday Bob & I are going to Red Deer to volunteer at the casino for our bowling lanes. We'll work from 3-10pm, then stay overnight and come home sometime Saturday. Do a bit of shopping, have some lunch etc. Supposed to snow on Saturday, so will take our time.
Debbie you sure have to listen to what eye doc says, have you been over taxing them..is it health issues causing problems with them or an injuru?? Have to drive over and give you a hug..guess you can’t drive at the moment?
Yes LIndakay, got haircut, seems like yesterday since I’ve has a perm, think I’m in need of another.
Susan, you never stop..did bob ever get to see specialist?
LIndakay, did Todd agree to bring sewing machine in location of choice or did he say nope, you got to rest.
Joanne needed a gift for baby shower, wanted to use up her scraps, a lot I said no to lol..in the end she liked her reading pillow. I was positioned on a chair in hopes pressure in my back would subside..aren’t I a complainer?? Yes, I’m quite aware of all my gabbing about my woes, got to change my thought process.
Sharon was suppose to come view a home today but because of freezing rain concerns she changed it to Saturday, works out better as my younger brother Mike can see it and give her heads up or nay.
Must listen to weather channel and see when they are predicting freezing rain to start..if later this evening might go out, could treat myself to Chinese lol
Beautiful pillow.
No, he said I need more rest, if I keep bugging him, maybe in a day or two.
Thought he might say that LIndakay.
In my Jammie’s after hot bath, no town for me today..
Seems you are a good enough customer to Chinese, they could deliver to you.
Susan, I will bet the experimentation is very fun.
Karen, I would guess you are VERY grateful for that paved drive! We have a lot of gravel that I wish we could pave! I have a flowerbed that last year I stepped into after over watering and I sunk to my knee and needed son to help me get out!
Pat - I like to try new things. It is fun.
Betty - Bob did see a specialist in Red Deer (ENT), but he said it wasn't that and was going to send a letter to Bob's GP and let him know he'll need to find another reason for Bob's falling, etc. Bob hasn't had any issues lately, but I suspect that's because he knows not to turn or get up suddenly and he's not going on any ladders. Thanks for the reminder - I'm going to phone our Dr and see if he got the letter from the specialist.
Snowing here. Suppose to snow all night or rain Cold enough for snow but we are higher up closer to the mountains.
Kids in the neighborhood are out having a blast. They have announced no school tomorrow because they assume the roads will be slick. I am not going anywhere.
Vern woke at 3am and tried to get out of bed. Said he had to get up to deliver his papers. He did that when he was 10 and 11. It took me about 20 minutes to get him settled down and back to sleep. Then he snored big time and I could not go back to sleep.
Put some Glen Campbell on his i pad while he ate breakfast. He grinned from ear to ear. Care giver knew nothing about Glen Campbell.
My succulents are not going to like this. Wet and cold is not a good mixture for them but to many to move.
I did get some onion starts for the garden. my daughter picked them up for me. I will grow them for small onions. I love them in salads. I was going to get some garlic but it said they should be planted late summer so they will go through the whole cold winter. They are better garlic the colder it gets. You guys should be able to grow great garlic.
We have no appointments until next Tuesday, so will be a great few days. I like staying home.
I should be on here earlier tomorrow because I will be stuck inside. Not complaining.
Susan, you and Bob are going everywhere. So happy for you. You have left all the old behind and that is a good thing.
Betty, how is Sharon feeling.
I agree with your hubby Linda. Just rest and let yourself heal. Just take small walks in the house.
My neighbor, friend, just down the street has been in Mexico at her Condo for a few weeks. She fell and broke her foot, stitches in her head and broke her glasses. Cannot put any weight on the foot for 8 weeks. She lives alone, her husband died to Christmas Eves ago. But her church, Mormon, is taking really good care of her.
I need to think about what I want to make tomorrow for a rainy, snowy day. Something over rice. Vern will eat just about anything if it is over rice.
Hugs. Sharon
yes, Sharon - we have a wonderful new life in our little hamlet and are very happy to be so busy here. Glad that Glen Campbell settled Vern down - I am not surprised 😊 Sorry to hear about your neighbour/friend, Sharon. Glad to hear her church is helping
Betty - remember the necklace & earrings you sent me? The purple ones you made. I wear them often - they are beautiful.
Morning all, been up since 2:30, we did get a mix of snow and ice, suppose to warm up a tad so not sure if will be melted by morning so school buses can run.
Sharon you made me laugh about the garlic and cold weather and especially the not knowing who glen campbell was..glad it brings Vern happiness listening to his songs..will be interesting hearing about how much snow you get.
Susan I don’t have one of those mixers either, for the few times I would use it it would take far too much space..thanks about necklace/earrings.
Yikes pat, how long had you left the water on for?
Almost 4, trying to decide if I should go back to bed or stay up
If I stay up it will be a long day.
Janice is coming over this morning, maybe I could make same muffins
Hmmm
Good Morning everyone.
I got already for the big ice storm that was coming. Had everything charged up. bathtub full of water and Kieran shovelled a path to the generator. Nothing to speak of came down. Haven't been out for a walk with the TH so will see how bad it is for walking.
LK you listen to your DH. He wants you around for a long time. Bet your dogs are sticking close to you.
Gotta go the oil truck is coming down the lane. Can you hear the TH? Problem is an oil truck was here yesterday. They like to get in when the lane is in pretty good shape. Truck was here at 7 am yesterday.
Say safe and well

Tad of ice under the bit of snow that fell, nothing here either Dianne but am sure when walking you have to be watchful.
Suzanne is going to Toronto today, she will drop in at Barrie fabricland and get me a few yards of pre quilted white fabric, used all mine up..I had thought I might take a run tomorrow to get some but heck just spend more $$$ on things I don’t need.
Canadian tire has a Bissell robot vacuum on sale, half price, can’t remember if it’s $299 or $250, regardless thinking if it would make my life a tad easier..have to see who has one and how good it is on wood floors
Stayed up, made a reading pillow but didn’t do muffins, Janice will be here any time or I’d lay of the couch and nap.
Ziggy wants out and I need another coffee so best I get a move on before she gets here
Betty, that was last year I think, I had left the water on about 4 hours. I had forgotten about it. Kevin had to help me get out and I lost a shoe in the process!! Darn it, my favorite gardening shoes! LOL
https://parks.ny.gov/parks/79/details.aspxDebbie, starting to plan Rita and i’s 5 day outing..going to do the Lancaster Pa area and on the way will stop at letchwood ny Grand Canyon of the east, have you been?
Just scenic, nowhere near the Grand Canyon but nice to visit seeing it’s en-route anyway
Looks beautiful.
There was report last week, that cans of radioactive ore were on public display in the Grand Canyon museum. Been there for 10 years. I posted it on my Facebook a few days ago.
Loved the Grand Canyon, not understanding why the would have something so dangerous displayed.
wonder if they got snow, if they did what a site that would be.
Hope Sharon’s gardens will survive the snow she got..
I phoned Bob's GP & he has an appointment tomorrow morning (10:45) to see him, before we leave for Red Deer to work at the casino for the Bowling Society. Going to be a busy day.
Good to hear that Bob got an appt so quickly!!
As part of my employment we have access to Smart Health. We earn points for different healthy changes etc. There was a new program that you could sign up for that even sent you a FREE scale for weighing in on everyday. The scale is linked to your online account... YIKES! LOL
I have been assigned to a group of people that will be part of my support group, 35 people and a "coach". I'[ll let you know when we start on Sunday. My office mate and I are both doing it.
Linked to your online accout? YIKES indeed!! I suppose your online account tells you if you skip a day of weigh-in?
Yes, appointments to a GP are pretty quick, rurally 😁
Pretty cool lookin g park Betty, I had no idea about it. Lancaster area is nice to visit.
I don't really know yet Susan, but I assume it will. The official kick off is this Sunday and I will be out of town for 3 nights next week. I will deal with it. I need to get a picture of myself connected with my account. Much easier to get to "know" people when there is a picture and this group will be together for several weeks (I believe it was 12 weeks, don't remember for sure.)
the park is beautiful!
Vern had two melt downs today. Both being over having difficulty over being able to speak.
We had 7.5 inches of snow. Biggest problem was the desert African Sumac trees. Too many leaves and very willowy branches. But the leaves are very light except when loaded with heavy snow.
The dogs had a blast but the cat could not figure out what was on the ground. Peanut got herself stuck on a bit of bare ground but could not determine how to get back into the house without going on the white stuff. It was hilarious to watch and how I wish I had had my I phone. She walked on top of pots, found some bare ground and took a leap of faith. She landed on the patio in a big puddle of slush.
They decided to now close the schools and the majority of the kids stayed home. So they are now closed tomorrow. Roads were closed to LA and Arizona. Bad fog and still snowing. It has started snowing again but has been raining for a few hours. Roads will be icy tomorrow and desert people are not used to driving in that.
Pat that sounds like a good program.
Betty, you wear me out just reading what you do every day.
Daughter here to out Vern to bed.
Morning all,
Snowed a bit last night, know I should shovel but I said, nope, NOT going to. We are expecting a major storm but think is night winds more than anything and rain for Sunday..always worry when they say rain, I equate rain with flooding..just called that company who said they have all they need to install that new system about a month ago, scheduled last Friday, didn’t show up, no call..owner won’t be in till 9 so will call back.
Poor Vern but more so poor Sharon, your heart must ache watching him become more and more confused..Lordy Sharon, would have been fun watching Peanut..is that the most snow you’ve had? Hugs
Very interesting for sure Pat, am sure you will do well.
Several years ago, hmm likely more than 5 I had /have a unit that I could excessive with my bowl etc (should reconnect) anyway, here and there it would say things, like one day the doorbell rang so I got off the floor pad, came back and it told me I wasn’t going to a hieve my goal if I was going to be so distracted..haven’t been on since.,think these machines know too much lol
I’ve been in that area several times Karen, more just passing thru, when going to DC with the grands we visited Hershey plants where they got to work in plant and box their chocolates, not far from Lancaster..
Saw that in Intercourse they have a beautiful fabric shop, got to visit that one for sure, so now I’ll start planning to get the most into out days.
Susan, wonderful you got bob in so quickly, reminds me to call my doc..must do so now
Chat later
No MORE snow but COLD and I underestimated the time to thaw car windshield. It's out there doing it's thing while I type....
wonder if I'll finish this quilt before Susan visits in the summer lol
Good morning,
Saw eye doctor yesterday. Got myself in load of trouble with him. BUT it is healing, broken blood vessels big time. I have 3 eye meds and 10lb lifting restrictions for couple weeks. Not sure HOW I did it, I had recently moved a few things in the house, brought in load of groceries, and also, worries about cpap machine too close to my eyes (mask) and may have caused pressure issue. Blah!
No new snow, but we have a very high wind warning for Sunday into Monday. Upwards 70 mph winds predicted. They haven't been right for our weather in long time (blizzard and Ice warning) so hope they are wrong on this one also.
Betty, that trip looks amazing. Never been or even heard of that area, Such an adventure!!!
Ok wating for Fed Ex for a new "cart" to be delivered. I need kitchen storage and going to use a little moveable island on wheels to store things in.
*Gentle Hugs* Debbie - it's so easy to mess up eye pressure. Dr I worked for had eye problems & he had to lay facing down with a "ring" around his eye so it wasn't increasing the pressure on his eye after he had surgery. Couldn't bend over, etc.
Glad he gave you the what for Debbie, now you know what weighs 10 lbs?? Means you can’t lift much so behave.. ohh hope that cart unit does the trick, now don’t you send back the cart and keep the fed ex man, know how you eye those guys.with a bad eye goodness knows what you would keeplol
Thought if anyone it would have been you Debbie who would know about it..think of picture you could take..if it proves to be nice some weekend when I have the old gals you can join us and we will go see it.. bought a design along with many other today and thought of you Debbie, arent you the one with visiting cardinals?
Got to keep working on the quilt Susan.,am sure you will get it done for her.
Actually mild out, hoping as Debbie says storm will miss Dianne and I amd Debbie..
Safe travels Pat
Betty, you just got your snowblower fixed. Why aren't you using it?
Hubby set up my sewing table and machine today. I got all 300 8 inch squares sewn with the x for the rag quilt today. When I go to quilting next week, I can put several tables together and get them in order to sew the pattern.
Storm and wind warning for Sun here too.
There is a dampness in the air so my joints are talking to me. I'll get the wood stove going. I haven't had a fire in a few days. I'll be out of wood soon if I kept the fire going as I usually do. I'll just have to have a third tank of oil for the year.
Debbie listen to the doc !! Does this mean someone else will have to take Sam out?
Forgot to mention this but in mid January we had 2 frost quakes. They were loud ... it sounded like a gun going off
Deb did you get to Westminister ?
Pat I hate not having a garage. It seems to take forever to get the frost off the Escape's windows. Of course the police in the province are really coming down on people who don't get the snow off of the roof of their vehicles - many are getting tickets not warnings. I'm short so I have to get a stool to stand on so I can do it.
I went to IGA to get bananas and a can of dog food. Somehow I spent $96.00.Plus I didn't really need the can of dog food as I had a casserole made up for the TH. Betty you should try the Tuscan tomato and Loaded Potato Soup. It's on sale and keeps for a long time. It is found in the Deli section. Both are very tasty.
LK we crossed I am so happy for you that your sewing machine got set up for you.
Stay safe and well.

Dianne, iga or foodland, no it iga in our region, im always calling foodland Iga, habit I guess....hope it’s foodland because I think I’d enjoy it..will check tomorrow.
Don’t think we’ve ever had a frost quaye, maybe did amd didn’t know what it was.
Yes it’s milder and extremely damp out there, could hardly walk, lift so groceries was a chore, thank goodness they called an attendant to put groceries in car, couldn’t go back to cart return to get my $1 back so told young lad to keep it...wanted a case of 24 water, tried to lift it but said nope can stay at the store..was hard lifting case of 12 pop and I bought a frozen turkey, it was a chore getting it in the house..now 8n the zinc in cold water, hoping to cook it tomorrow, was craving for a turkey dinner,Lordy should have bought a turkey TV dinner lol
Groceries put away, picked up Chinese, going to enjoy the treat..have to stay away from giant tiger, got another blouse, pretty pink.
LIndakay, glad you got set up, looks as though you sewed up a storm.
As for snowblower, wasn’t enough snow to take it out.
Dinner looks good. Enjoy.
Betty Foodland and IGA are 1 and the same. Sobeys changed most IGAs in Ontario to Foodland. Several of the independent grocery owners tried to fight head office but they lost.
I have never heard of frost quake, interesting! I'll have to look it up.
We're supposed to get snow again starting Sunday and all thru next week. I am in a pickle at work. I have a client who has been in and out of hospital for the last 2 months. I HAVE to get in and complete an assessment on Wednesday and move to current by Thursday or she will lose paid caregiver services! Praying she stays out of hospital and I can see her Wednesday as scheduled.
Still plugging along on all my different projects and looking for the computer doodad to upload pictures from camera chip to computer. VERY frustrating!! Lack of organization strikes again!!! It got moved when I moved the computer and stand out to the living room and is officially AWOL.
I am GRATEFUL it is Friday and the end of my work week until next Tuesday again.
Well Betty, the flannel I ordered came today. After I got it washed, I cut some 2 1/2" strips and although I don't usually make my T-shirt quilts that way, it was just too small. Adding the strips will make it a good size. Only took me about half an hour to take the strip apart and resew with the flannel between. Looks good. Have just 3 more to do. maybe tomorrow and then border and backing. Then I have to figure on how I'm getting it quilted. I've had the offer of the use of a friends machine, I just hate to interfere with his work and impose on his time.
He's a long distance trucker. Would you believe he takes his sewing machine along for when he's off the road. He does his long arming when he's home. He makes QOVs and is a veteran himself. Jess and I had lunch with him a week ago and then went to the fabric store and played a while. After he left, the ladies there asked if he was my grandson as he calls me grandma. I said he might as well be.
