Best/Worse,What did I learn today??everyone welc9me, old and new, come grab a chair near the fireplace and relax..

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Wow! Scary looking accident. Hope no one seriously hurt.

My guy came, diagnosed the problem as a stuck gas valve that needs to be replaced. I thought he would fix it right then and there, but no, had to go back to the office, and someone would call me with a quote. That was at 10:00 this morning, still no call. I called at noon to make sure they had my cell number, since the receipt for the diagnostic call had my home number on it. I asked about my quote, and was told they had a used, but working gas valve they could use, I said fine, can we get this fixed today. I was told they'd call with a quote, but they were busy with calls with people without heat!! Hello!! I'm one of those people!! So frustrating. I'm at work, at least it's warm here. I'll give them until around 4pm and call again, to see what's going on. I don't want to be a pest, but I need some answers.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't wait too long and let the office close.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats that is frustrating..no call from either of my guys..realize in this weather they can’t come but a call wouldn’t be out of line

Greg called, they got home late last night, had one heck of a time

No. More playing, going to take a hot bath and do nothing, well maybe something lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

That's a terrible pile-up, Betty! SO many people involved....
Dianne - 😁 Queen Bee quilt, indeed! It's the one I started about 40 years ago - MUST get it done. Think if I put it on Betty's "to do" list she would do it? 🤣😉
Setup for coffeetime this morning at the Senior's Centre. Almost didn't go - it was minus 31c / minus 34c windchill. brrrrrr One fellow came, and after I got home I found that a friend called saying she was out walking the dog & stopped in for coffee but the doors were closed. Yeah, I left at 11, cuz the one person was going, and there was no point in staying. Too cold for most people to come. Besides which I couldn't find the coffee tin, so made hot chocolate. I un-decorated from Valentines, and stayed as long as he did, then left.
Bob set up a folding table for me to stretch my quilt on, so it makes it easier. I'm giving myself two weeks to do it. Putting patterns on with templates - one is of butterflies, and the other is feathers (I think? maybe leaves?). I'll keep going until I think I have enough stitched to make it held down.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I finally did a LITTLE sewing... to tell you how rusty I am I had sewn several sections thinking like something wasn't "right" when I realized I wasn't chain sewing!!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sometimes it takes a bit to get back in the groove Pat. I'm finally sewing again, it's been since Sept. Feels good but I do make more goofs than usual. It's OK I'm pretty good at un sewing too.

Morning everyone,

Just came in from shovelling and putting garbage to roadside..because I kept up with snowfall yesterday there was just a little for me to shovel.

I was late getting up this morning, Lordy was the best night sleep I’ve had in months.
Now enjoying just relaxing until the girls get here.seems strange sitting, comfortably nestled on the couch with coffee and cereal with not a thing to do..big smile, wonder how long I can keep that up lol

Rogers tv say they will be here today but not sure about the plumbing company, I’ll call them at 8.

One of the area have drink8ng can tops on sale, as we are suppose to get snow tomorrow and over the weekend, might drive 8nto town a little later and get some..you know when all the kids are here and they are drinking soft drink they never know where the put their drin pk so rather than drink someone else’s they take another can..had a bunch but think some went home with them.

Viewing Friday and funeral Saturday, many odmyfamily can’t make it due to planned trips so I’ll be the one giving condolences from all.

Got a chuckle Pat, the best is you get to sew to remind yourself of how much fun you had doing it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you had a good night's sleep. Praying those pills made it happen.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty!! I had a brain blast (as opposed to a Brain Fart which is more common!)! Get colored hair scrunchies and put their names on them, or 3/8 elastic bands, they can put their band around their can, same concept as wine drink markers with those cute little tokens that attach to the stem of the wine glasses. .

Victoria Harbour, ON

These are much better because if they don’t drink the entire can they can put top back on and keep freshness.

On the couch this afternoon, shoulder/neck giving me the what for but that is ok as body pain doing better.

Sharon going to see series of homes today, hope she likes the one near me

Yes,having turkey dinner for lunch, who would have thought it lol

Girls just left, might be time for a nap

See the tops that fit on sofa cans! Am sure you all have them

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, isn’t technology grand..

Rogers came in amd connected new system..I just speak into receiver and it does everything..if I want to record I just tell it what I want to record..quit the system

Sharon went to see both homes, the one neat Penetanguishene was absolutely gorgeous she said but neighbors too close, one near me perfect location, acreage hides neighbors but needs too much work..darn, would have been nice nearby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Greg just dropped in, no need to worry how I will eat 3/3 of a turkey, pond it off to him

Smiling here, bad thing Shawn showed me, I say quilting tube and get hundreds of shows, just what I needed, more ideas

Oh my, how very sad, joanne just sent me a message

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh how sad and traumatic. Bad enough the poor baby is dead but Mama has to wait to deliver.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe. So sorry to hear that Betty. Sending prayers for the family.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, that is so sad, my heart just aches for them.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

how very sad Betty - was this their first baby? My thoughts are with them.
Teechnology is great 😉 An elderly friend of mine here has installed items to make her home a Smart Home. She's loving it. The only parts she does not like is the furnace turning the heat down during the day - it was set incorrectly to nighttime during the day. The other thing was the shower head set to conserve water - shower water trickles down. Her son came & put a "normal" shower head on. She's waiting for someone to come & re-set the thermostat. 🤣I can't even get my smart phone to recognize my voice.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

That is heart breaking. God bless them.

Vern's son is coming over tomorrow and sit with him from 1 to 4 so I can garden. I have to feed the roses and rehab some soil in some pots. I will go next week and get some annuals to plant.

The weather was great today and was close to 60. No clouds and no wind. Dogs and I walked again down to the golf course. About a mile. I am the liaison with the HOA landscape crew so I took some photos and gave some suggestions. My suggestions is usually, if you can't get it to look good, get rid of it. I want nothing lying on the ground. Because the leaves get entwined under the limbs and then stay there because they do not rake, just blow.

I have a large pot on the side of the house and it got filled with water from melting snow and would not drain. About 48" high and about 40" round. Came off a golf course. I got 3 as a gift from landscaping company. I got a mouth full of brown water and potting mix soil as I was trying to siphon off the water.

Just about time for daughter and her husband to come and help get Vern on the bed.. My son-in-law is 59 today. Does not seem possible that the kids are getting this old.

You all have a wonderful day tomorrow and stay warm. Lake Tahoe is suppose to get over 3' of snow the next 3 days,. They are already close to a record. That train getting stuck between Seattle and Portland was a mess. I took that train ride about 7 years ago so I could see the scenery.

Hugs to you all.

Good bitter cold, sunless morning. There's a snow storm moving in.

Betty there are no words, my heart aches for this couple.

Sharon it's hard to imagine your SIL is 59 already. I have 3 nephews in their 50's..-.. where oh where has the time gone ?

Safe travels today LK.

Betty I don't know about you but I will welcome this snow storm. We so need it here to cover up the ice rink that is also known as our lane.I can't even walk the TH safely. I put them out into their large yard, take a ball or 2 and work them until they drop.

Maybe I will make cookies today. I had bought some Dare's Oatmeal cookies and they are nothing like the cookies of my youth.

Deb do you have heat now ?

Pat you must be so happy your renos are moving along.

Chaos is infatuated with the Hippo on the Telus commercial. He runs right up to the TV to watch. Yesterday he was trying to dance around following the Hippo. I showed him a clip on FB from the Dodo. There he could see a baby Rhino and Hippo that were abandoned. The 2 have bonded and can't be separated. This just about put him over the top. Boy was he excited.

Say safe today.

How sad for that couple. I can't imagine what they are going through.

Yes, Dianne, I have heat again! He got the valve replaced Monday night, though it took until Tuesday morning before the house was warm again. The boiler still needs a tune up, and I had asked the tech about it, but he told me not to bother, just to get a new one! Sorry, that's not in my budget, and one problem with it since it's been installed doesn't seem like a good enough reason to replace it! My brother is going to look into what goes into a boiler tune up and see what he can do.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I got back home about 7 last night. It was a long day. All checkups went well.
Getting ready for quilting group today.
Funny how dogs will watch TV and react like that.

Morning all, well almost noon isn’t it..

Snowmfalling here as well Dianne, Jim called and said it was quite stormy in Toronto, let it come, surely storms are almost ove, just March to contend with.

What a morn8ng..did some calls to credit cards and other, should have done so awhile back as I was suppose to do..now that I no longer have a post9ffice box was suppose to advise all, didn’t do it it before so today is the day..

Am enjoying Rogers new voice activated tv system, hurrah, everything at Rogers is voice activated, when I called them the said there was no need for me to give them any of my personal I.d. As they have my voiceonfile, they key it in and voila, they have established who I am...kind of scarry isn’t?

Sharon, bet you are getting antsy , shortly my time you will be in your lovely garden.
Your complex was so clean and gardens at each home looked professionally done..so appreciative you allowed me to see it and of course meet Vern, highlight of my trip.

Dianne the TH is just too precious..omg having a bowl of potato so, sale end today so I’ll take a quick run in to get more, hope they have Tuscan tomatoe. Nothing more dangerous than these conditions having ice under snow though, get confident in walk8ng and so easily you could fall.

Shortly my break is over, machine is embroidered wording for butterfly insert, wish I had some butterfly fabric but now I have to look for some hoping I can find some, if not then I’ll use plain fabric..it was a trial design so that is ok.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Just a quick pop in - busy day today. Crib this afternoon, and volunteering @ bowling tonight.
Betty - why don't you have a PO box? I'm still telling people that I DO 😊
Wish I'd known you wanted butterfly fabric. I'll look & see if I have any. I usually have some. eventually (when I'm 90 🤣I'll do a Madam Butterfly quilt. I have all the fabric, and I'll embroider the butterflies and Madam Butterfly on it. I have all the patterns.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

forgot the pics - I'm going to have to find more butterflies - I thought I had about 30, but they've disappeared. These are not what I was thinking of.

Dianne, I’m going to blame you for weight gain..lol

bought the potatoe soup, they had others but not Tuscan tomato so asked them to get some in.

Nice slab of ham, know what I’ll be eating thurs/fri

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Butterfly bag is the only one I have NOT liked! I have really loved the other bags.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, bitterly cold out there, good day to stay in and be cozy..

But, last day for my car plate sticker so have to run into midland or I’ll be driving illegally..month went by so quickly thought I had plenty, guess I have to go out after all..

Pat I’m with you, perhaps had I made the butterfly in softer colours, will try again,,can always do something with this one..even cut butterfly odd and add a news one.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I like all the bags. Please be careful driving Betty.
We have another cold front coming in. Monday is supposed to be 40 for the high. Very unusual for us, this time of year.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I like the butterfly bag, too, Betty. I do agree that the butterfly done in softer colors. I could see this as a pillow on a little girls bed. I love the saying on it.

Be careful driving out there. It's probably just my imagination, but it seems like there is more cold and snow this year.

Victoria Harbour, ON

It’s clear today, sun shining makes it look like diamonds thrown on the snow..so pretty but colder than heck. Slow moving today, been sitting here sipping on coffee and planning Rita and i’s roadtrip, other girls can’t go so we are doing a mini trip...time to go downstairs for something to do until I head for town..

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty where are the reading embroidery patterns from. I'd love to make one for Clara as she is a prodigious reader and loves her books.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Most Karen I go on Etsy amd a lot for younger kids on juju
I make sure they are the sites that you can access your purchases so you don’t have to download everything on memory stick

Lovely sunny day, apparently stickers are due midnight of your birthday so I could have waited until l tomorrow..oh well it’s done

Have to stop going to that mall, another blouse came home with me lol picture doesn’t show the bright pink in it..

Verona, ON

Brilliant sunshine but bitter cold. I went out to clean up the TH's enclosure, get recycle organized and bring in a wheel barrow full of wood. The TH ran inside before I even got to the wood.

No Deb it is not your imagination .... it is colder and more snow ... it is like when I was a kid in the 50's. When we first bought this farm in he early 80's we had lots of snow and cold even then. At Christmas you were able to walk across the lake to go to the IGA now you wouldn't even think of doing that.

Who digs out the snow by your mailboxes Betty? We had that when we lived in Oshawa. The snow just built up and built up. I was jumping over 2- 3 ft piles to get to the mail box. Finally 1 day I said enough and we went down and shoveled it out.Warren said we should only dig out a path to our box. I was horrified !!! Anyway while we were shoveling 2 other guys came and helped us out. They didn't realize the onus was on the people who had the boxes not Canada Post

Karen it warms my heart that I know you are out of Michigan this winter. I have a friend in northern Michigan who has been pummeled with snow and ice .

Stay safe and warm

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, much the same here, Ziggy is enjoying look8ng at outside from the inside..im sure my kids are loving this snowmobile and skiing weather..guess we did too in our younger years.

The municipality cleans the sidewalk and I believe the post office does the rest, few times I did go after the storm it wasn’t done, had the climb the banks, not a good thing. Never even considered Dianne who was responsible to clear area.think if it’s your own mailbox at end of drive, your responsibility, but communal I don’t know..interest8ng, have to check.

Just thought I changed my address on licence, forgot to give them my health card, guess another drop in tomorrow, nope won’t buy another blouse lol

Have viewing tomorrow at 2 pm for Uncle Louis, be nice if it didn’t snow.

Soon dianne you won’t have to contend with bringing 8n wood but the black flies.

Any of you visited Lancaster Pennsylvania’s area?

Verona, ON

To be quite honest Betty I would rather bring in wood than deal with black flies. Just hoping it is a quick season for those bugs. I swell up something terrible with their bites .
It was absolutely glorious outside today IF you were dressed for it. My new snow pants didn't arrive at the PO.Shame on Amazon !! The mittens that Barb made and sent me are excellent for keeping out the cold. Once I got the TH moving into the bush they had a blast.

I spent the whole day thinking it was Friday...... just went to use my cell and I stand corrected.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

In northern Michigan, we were responsible for keeping the snow cleared away enough so the mail carrier could drive up and reach our box. A challenge sometimes as the plow driver was constantly burying it. Here we don't have that problem. LOL

When we lived up there in the early 60s, I can remember our mailbox was so buried, we had a tunnel to reach into it, couldn't see it at all.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Got up to more snow and ice. THIS is not normal here! We have broke 100 year old snow records for February. I am ready to be done with it.

I am finishing getting ready and leaving for Maries. We need to be at charter bus at 5.30 in the morning tomorrow, I am spending night at her house. Lots to do... I'm catch up when I get back.
