Best/Worse,What did I learn today??everyone welc9me, old and new, come grab a chair near the fireplace and relax..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - clean that scratch by Ziggy - bad kitty! I'd never heard of putting tips on cat's claws! Time to get his nails trimmed. That's bad behaviour
Congrats to Inuk - so glad the attack didn't unnerve him to where he would lose. Letting a dog attack another - that's bad ownership, f'sure!!!!
Cold as the blazes here - it's minus 22c now, and that's warmed up! It's been snowing every day, and this morning I had to sweep off the car again, to open up the Senior's centre for coffee. No one came. Hopefully it warms up soon, so people will attend.

I got a call from my boss, during our bad weather they have changed my schedule, start at 8Am and go to 6.30, rather than 5.30. We'll see, if the freezing rain comes as predicted, I am NOT staying until even 5.30!

Alternative to declawing, which in "not removing the nail" but amputation of first joint. https://www.softpaws.com/questions-answers-cat/

Morning all..

Everything closed anticipating storm, both snow and freezing rain, what a mess there will be..clear out there right now so I’ll not gab long, time to get the garbage to roadside before it starts.

Girls won’t come today I’m sure seeing storm will move in mid morning so I’ll have the day to play, seems there are lots of those play days.

Pat that is very interesting, never heard of those tops either..going to check with the vet this morning.nooe, maybe you will be lucky enough and not have to go in today because of weather.

Susan that is too bad about lack of participation but you will get them back when nice weather arrives, just around the corner..imagine we are almost halfway through February..

Drats getting tired of hearing all about Valentine’s Day, those without mates get to feel worse than they normally do..sigh

Off to do garbage and then have 2nd cup of coffee, heck, might even make muffins or run into foodland and get muffins and fixing for stew

Victoria Harbour, ON

Made it to foodland before the ice storm starts, have a nice stew a cooking, sure wish you all lives closer, we would have soul food for supper while we chatted up our own storm.

Got housework done, even another load of laundry done and put away so guess it’s time to play

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty stay in the rest of the day and have fun, rest when you feel the need.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Doing a bit of everything..mouth watering as I can smell the stew I put on this morning..maybe I’ll eat now then play for awhile..so far blizzard conditions, praying the freezing rain misses us as I worry that hydro lines heavy with ice will put power out then I’ll have to worry about sump pumps...grrr

Cozy though sitting here with fireplace on looking out at the storm and being grateful I have a home and not outside,

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wish I was closer. That stew sounds good.

Thanks “M” love her cards as well..

Terrible weather, have eats to last me the week lol

Vern and our cat Peanut. Vern's Valentine present. His feet always feel cold. They are slipper socks and have a fleece lining. I just about kept them.

Peanut has let me have it like that several times Betty. Usually when she is asleep or zoned off somewhere and I startle her. I do know now not to move up on her and not let her know I am coming or she will let me have it.

I need to walk the dogs for the 2nd time today..

I did forget the photo.

I have NEVER been nailed by any of my cats or horses, not sure how I would handle it... well, I guess that is not quite true. Had a horse of mine nip me on the butt once when I was bend over. She looked the other way like she had no idea about what had just happened, it really was kind of funny. She sure looked like it was a prank.

Morning,

Just came in after 1 1/2 hrs of snow clearing, just finished and Andrew came and pushed back all the banks, looked great, no sooner did i sii to warm myself up with a coffee and fill my tummy with a cranberry muffin that it’s started up again, more snow clearing for me today.

Sharon got back from NYC, suppose to leave tomorrow for a cruise but is still coughing big time, she is not sure they will let her on the plain, not a cold type cough, a cough she gets every year and lasts well into spring, not usually this bad.

My only chore today is vacuuming, big decision right, do I do it now or wait till later lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

This cough that Sharon gets, does allergy meds or asthma inhaler help? has she tried an OTC inhaler? Might be worth the try. My Dad had COPD and the joke was always that Marie had him "special tea". It was hot lemon water laced with Apricot Brandy, that did a better job for him than anything else.

Just got the email, work is delaying start by 2 hours (total of 3 for me since they already changed my schedule to 8AM instead of 7AM). snow flakes so big they are like preassembled snow balls. Goodness it is BEAUTIFUL. My car has another couple of inches since last night when it was fully clear again..

Morning all,

Happy Valentines Day toall if you, to those of you who are on your own know you are cherished and loved..do something special for yourself today!!

Did my snow, thought I’d post while water is boiling for coffee..need one that is for sure as it’s bitter cold out there at least I felt it moreso than other days.

Need to put clothes in dryer and out in their rightful pkace and I’m done for the day, doesn’t take long as I do a small load, minimum water use everyday, one thing I don’t like is laundry not being done, I’d say that and making my bed are done before I even have morning coffee.

Feelingshe is on so many meds, inhalers but none do the trick. bad for Sharon, this cruise and half week would have been nice for her, much needed rest but it’s a no go unless she changed her mind this morning. It’s a cough both she and my dad have/had, dad underwent every test there was in the city as well as smaller facility year after year and they never did find cause.. will tell her about the hot toddy, might ease the cough8mg, thankpat.

LIndakay how are your uncles doing?? Still in my prayers. Going to look for the floor product you mentioned and see if it can be used on wood floors..

Well I’ve all day ahead of me, time to start it with a coffee then head downstairs..

Hope to gab during the day..any valent8nes day plans

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone. No, with me having surgery tomorrow, traveling are not in the plans.

Verona, ON

Happy Valentine's Day everyone !!!

I did a quick scan to catch up but will go back later and read all your posts.

We have had really horrible weather. Lots of snow and freezing rain when it wasn't snowing. I have put out more $$$'s for plowing already than I did all of last year.

Betty I am so glad you liked your box of goodies. I enjoyed putting it together for you.

Stay safe and warm.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to see you back with us Dianne.
Sure wish I could send you some of our warm weather. 74 today.

Verona, ON

Linda sending positive thoughts for you and your medical staff tomorrow. The TH and I will be there. Boy gall bladder sure has changed over the years. I can remember when if you had this surgery you had a 4 -5 day stay in the hospital.

Deb I was thinking about you when the Westminister was on the TV. Some gorgeous dogs there.

3 cheers it is 5:20 and it is still light outside. Woo Hoo.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thank you Dianne.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda K, staying put is difficult but you are right, not wise to be doing any traveling with your surgery and all.
We've had road closures, business closures, schools closed... just an allover good time (NOT). We were sent home early, meant 2.5 hours of pay I did not have to work. roads were already getting ugly, I had to pick up an RX for Ben and the temperature dropped 2 more degrees in the time I was in store. It will be interesting to see what we wake up to. I am betting deep layer of freezing rain. I hope I'm wrong.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nasty weather for sure. Praying it let's up for you.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - sorry I've been MIA
been on the run all week.
Last night was volunteering @ the bowling lanes in the next town. Today we bowled, then went to another town's Senior Drop In Centre's Spuds & Splits dinner. They had baked potatoes with all the fixings, chili, and coleslaw (the creamy kind I love!), followed by a banana split with all those fixings! YUM! All for only $10 each.
Darn that's a good price! Even if we had to travel there!
In the town where we bowl, we checked to see how much it would cost to replace our front, passenger, headlight - $50 with free installation. They had a headlight that had been special ordered in and customer changed their mind. After we paid, we checked the bill, and the original price was $400! Wow, eh?
We love small towns............!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

we had over 1' of rain today. That is a lot of rain for Las Vegas in one day. Good news was it was a steady slow rain so no flooding.

Linda, so sorry about your Uncle. I have no uncles or aunts left. My dad only had one brother and my mother had 2 brothers and one sister. My two uncles were berry farmers in Oregon. They worked from sun up to sun down. I still remember driving up to their farms, with my parents, when we will young kids. Such sweet people. My mother was the youngest. She always had a wonderful flower garden and veg garden even though she lived in the mountains in Nevada. Daddy and Mom were a great gardening couple.

Betty, here are wishes Sharon gets better quick.

Susan, such a deal. That auto repair shop has special wishes going to them for being so fair. Sounds like you found a new great home.

Diane, so glad you are back with us. You and Betty have got your fair share of snow.

My sister's son just made Captain of the Fire Department in Ventura, Ca. They are all over the moon.

Tracy and her family are going to Park City, Utah tomorrow to go skiing. So I have to make my own Costco run. That will probably cost me a fortune. I also need to make a return to Lowe and I understand they have a new shipment of succulents.

Hospice sent a young lady today to sign to Vern. He and I were not really pleased with the thought but she was wonderful. Played the guitar, cute and could sing. She sang all of the old songs and Vern loved it. He asked when she left, when she would be back. He didn't each much dinner tonight. Still doing a great job on his other meal of the day.

I took the dogs for a walk today in a good rain storm. They will not go into the back landscape to go potty and the rain was not going to stop. By the time we got back, they were soaked, I was wet but they did their business. no rain right now but big time wind. Time for me to clean up. Tracy and Kris will be here to put Vern to bed.

Happy Valentine;'s Day. I am late, but still sending good thoughts for all of you.

Good luck tomorrow Linda. Even with the rain today we got to a high of 57 but nothing like your 75.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
