(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Well if LindaK is having heart issues, now is the time and place to find them. Thanks for update

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

on the FB page, there was a "see more". What else did she say? Prayers being said for her
Made 4 separate quarts of ice cream today - 2 of Black Cherry, 1 of Banana Walnut, and 1 of peanut butter cup - yum! Took one quart over to Joan & Jim's. She said he really likes black cherry, and he's being such a dear looking after her since she's gotten out of the hospital, that I figured he deserved something special.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

sign me up for Peanut butter!! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, bitter cold and it snowed well into the night, sun is trying to peer through the windows, hoping nice weekend for all the enjoy this family day weekend.

My thoughts and prayers for LIndakay as well, yes it’s a good place for her to be that they caught this..

Susan I don’t think I’ve ever made ice cream, sign me up for black cherry next time you make some...

Just got up, body said it’s not ready for me to shovel, have all weekend so I’ll move the car from so close to house as I grocery shopped last night and could carry them far then I’ll just do steps, rest can wait a tad before doing more..

Going to vacuum, do floors and make my bed, imagine 8:30 and bed not made lol

Will be a chairlift kind of day..

Enjoy your day

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg, finally got out and shovelled, birds were chirping, so nice to hear, went to go fill feeders on front deck, yikes, will have to wait, when it warms up this afternoon I’ll go clean up what the wind blew all over..grr

Thanks letting everyone know what happened Betty. Sure did scare the pants off of us.
I am doing much better today. Just waiting on chemical stress test and echocardiogram results to come back.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

No sewing just yet. I think I over-did yesterday, was very crampy all evening, slept until nearly noon today.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

The electrician came yesterday for a few hours & will come again today. No way he can finish up in one day so we'll need to reschedule & prioritize the work I want done. After today Kevin will have dedicated circuit to his "new bedroom" and overhead fan, the computer lines added to that side of the house. He will move into the guest room, his old room across the hall from us will become guest room with King size bed.

There isn't going to be a lot of room for more than that king size bed but many of our guests are used to sleeping on King size and Queen size doesn't cut it!

Yesterday the roads were actually decent, last night another skiff of snow. We talked about maybe driving to Walla Walla and seeing the wheelchair van but reality set in last night... I need to shovel snow for a place to park it!! I'm thinking seriously of getting in that 4WD pickup and MOVING it, I'll bet I can park it in 'snowsville" and not have to move snow...

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Cross posted. I wrote the post and didn't send....

Give us an update when you are done with your testing. I hope you get to come home today (IF that is in your best interest!)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ok - signing Pat up for Peanut Butter Cup ice cream, and Betty for the Black Cherry ice cream lol
No one likes Banana Walnut? I have a request for Fudge Chocolate from Susan, so when she comes next summer, I'll have to make some for her birthday in August.

Back to sewing. I've done my last prayer shawl for awhile - too much paid work sewing to do at the moment 👍😁

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yep, gotta pay the bills and keep customers happy!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, I am at my son's house in San Antonio. Papers were finally signed about an hour ago. So instead of driving the 3 hour trip home in the dark, I will spend the night here, and go home in the morning.
Thanks for all the prayers. I have orders to never have morphine or other strong meds again.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ahhhh glad you are out of hosp. and will be heading home tomorrow. Morphine really messes with me too. Hoping the rest of your recovery is uneventful.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

So pleased you are signed out and will be home tomorrow Linda. Take a few days to pamper yourself.

Betty my side yard looked like your front porch this morning. No snow but a lot of overturned pots. Big wind blew all night. Tomorrow is suppose to rain again and be snow in our area.

I made a 8 bean soup today with a ham shank and it is marvelous. Vern ate very little and Daughter and her family are in Utah skiing so I think I will give some to the care giver. I made it with beef broth and veg. stock from Trader Jo's. I think the veg stock put it over the top.

I planted some russet potatoes today. i cut them up last night and let them callous over and planted them this afternoon. Also planted three garlic cloves but probably to dried out to grow. We shall see. The black soil is compliments of my worms

Morning everyone, bitter cold out there.

Having so much body pressure that I was exstatic when I saw I wouldn’t have to shovel today, hurrah hurrah hurrah.

Have all my housework done, hair done, enjoying a coffee and it’s just 6:30.suzanne will be coming this morning, until then I’ll play, as long as it’s sitting I should be fine.instead of sewing we should have taken a run stateside for the day as no snow in forecast.. now I think of that.

So glad you will be home today LIndakay. If nothing else it gave you a visit with son and family.

Sharon your soup sounds yummy..I meant to ask, can you request that pleasant young woman that came and sant old songs that Vern liked so much?she sounds precious. Sharon, if I was sitting onback patio where Rita and I sat, in what direction is your veggie garden? Do you keep potatoes til they have eyes then cut and plant? With daughter away skiing who will help you get Vern into bed? So many questions, should have gone out and cleared front deck of snow yesterday, had planned to do so but didn’t.

Susan, likely those you are sewing for will spread the word about your quality work and cheap rates and you will have more work than you want

Sharon’s up and coming dog, not sure if it’s her intention to show her but here is Paris

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

They are just such pretty dogs with there black eyes and upright perked ears, look at her precious pink ears! How old is Paris?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Paris is adorable!! Is she an Inuk daughter? She looks like a puppy in the photo, but that breed seems to always have that puppy-ish look about them, even when they're older.

Light snow here this morning. As long as things stay frozen, I'm ok with that. I haven't finished bathing everyone after the thaw during last week. Talk about MUD!!

Glad you are out LindaKay. My mother had a terrible reaction to morphine, years ago. Wish there was a way to test for sensitivity to it before it's administered.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Paris is just over a year I believe, must check with Sharon Den re blood line.

Are you home yet l8ndakay?

Dianne are you out of wood yet? Sure is cold out there, likely you’ve the same weather as I..at least no snow today

You almost would like to say to heck with floors until the mud is no longer, see markings all over my floors with kitty, just can’t imagine paw marks from your dogs, they are so big.

Suzanne called me early this am and said #he had to take her grandkids to swimming lessons and likely would be here around noon, so far no go..hoping saomething came up and she will come tomorrow instead.

Went to town, thought it would bee quiet but nope, stores were busy. Didn’t get out for Valentine’s Day, no sweetie so lthought I’d treat myself, bought 2 blouses and Jammie’s, look for a plant but everything out there looked like they were dying so maybe on my next trip to Barrie I’ll go to garden gallery and get me a pretty one.did buy another memory stick for my embroidery designs, now to take inventory on what designs are on what stick.

Got home and crashed, even my hands are aching?.ugggg

Think I’ll go in the closet and get my hand wax machine, that ought to make them feel better..I so laugh, have a patch on my neck, patch on my behind/hip and now for waxed hands...sewing can wait lol

Sharon messaged me, if she is well enough Wednesday she is meeting realtor for house nearby, would be nice having her live closer to me..

Off to plug the hand wax machine

Paris is so cute. Sharon moving close to you? That would be so awesome if she could 👍
Bett- cheap rates, but maybe I'm undervaluing myself? Maybe get more work @ cheap rates, so would balance out. Although, for the 2 deck cushions I did a lot of handsewing and supplied the material.......... think $25/each was maybe too cheap. Our property managers will supply the material for their RV curtains & bench cushions/backs, so that's a plus. She also pays what she thinks it's worth which is more than I ask for....... so another plus 👍😁
Got a dump of about 1 ft of snow overnight. Bob went & shovelled it out. Going to the Library to help a neighbour fax something, then over to guy's placee to take him his 2 deck chair re-covered cushions. Only way I'd get out of the house today - didn't even go to church, there was too much snow to clear, in order to be there for 9am, half hour drive away.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We got to church and there was one handicap spot left but there was ice I would have had to push the wheelchair over before getting to the cut-out to go up to sidewalk. Ben took one look and said, "Nope, we'll leaving".

That's when we drove to Walla Walla and bought the van. Ben drove my CVR back and I drove the van. I really liked the way it handled much better than the one I drove 2 weeks ago. https://kpr.craigslist.org/cto/d/walla-walla-antique-wheelchair/6816328471.html I don't know how long he'll have that ad up now that it's sold. This is the one we bought.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

It looks very nice Pat, sure it'll be a great help to you.

Wow Pat - nice that you get one that you like & has so much going for it 👍
Too bad they hadn't cleared the ice from a handicap parking spot. That's the one spot that Has to be cleared!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone. Betty, I love that photo of Paris, she is so precious.

I love your new blouses too.

I am home. Got here about 11:30 yesterday morning and crashed most of the day.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Crashing is a good thing, Linda, pamper yourself for a few days, don't over do. Anything there can wait. especially don't do any lifting. Walking is good for you but not too much.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

and you can WALK in Texas, right? You don't have this slippery messy snow!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hi there, been a long and busy day, had company all day, am tired now

Was thinking of having a hot bath, hot wax my hands, have a hot chocolate and just sit..

Got lovely red roses in plant form, now to keep it alive until I canpkant it lol

Glad you are home LIndakay, now rest..did doctors give you any do and don’t s?

Well Pat, did you go for a tour today I. Your new wheels?

Did you start sewing Karen

You are right Susan, first pkace that should be shovelled and sanded/salted should be handicap locations

Verona, ON

LOL Pat you made me laugh right out loud - I would so like to walk right now on bare grass or the lane.

Betty another snow storm moving in overnight. The parents around here are furious - in the first 3 weeks of school it has been cancelled every day except for 1.That was as of last Friday.

Glad your home LK, Nothing like sleeping in your own bed and having your 2 pups wanting to snuggle with you.

Still don't have all of my energy back from my dance with bronchitits but did manage to get inside enough wood for a couple of days.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Holy cow... 3 weeks of NO school because of weather. I am sooooooooooo glad I am no longer a parent of school age children! LOL

No reason to take the van out right now. I like it but I don't think I will EVER like anything better than my Honda CRV!! I have what seems like 100s of errands to run but most involve businesses that are closed today!! Good thing I have tomorrow off too.

OK, ready to start on projects, got most of the wood I needed precut at Home Depot. It sure makes projects go easier and faster AND it fits in my car easier!! Putting shelves in closet of son's "new bedroom" and making simple custom headboard to fit the new twin bed. The space between the closet door frame and wall do not allow for a ready head board. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to just cheat and mount the headboard to the wall! (no legs).

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Boy you guys are moving all of the time. Betty, you are probably sitting down.

My granddaughter and her husband have been helping me put Vern on the bed while my daughter and her husband are in park city. The just get him on the bed and I take it from there.

We made national news this morning because we had 3 inches of snow overnight. It all melted this morning but patio is really wet from melting snow from the roof. So tonight the patio will be slippery.

My daughter did some adding of shelves and she did the same thing with Home Depot. She was amazed how easy it was and how helpful they were. She turned a useless broom closet into a great storage area.

Linda, so pleased you are home and doing OK. Should make a big difference in how you feel after eating soon.

Betty, where you and Rita were sitting is the back landscape. On each side of the house, I had two raised planted constructed when we built the house. It was measured so I would be able to sit on he side of the bed and not have to bend over. One side, nearest where you were sitting is the compost pie and 3 greenhouses to propagate plants and succulents. On the other side, by the swimming pool is the vegetable area. I planted vegs on both sides the first year to see which bed was better for growing. East side has morning sun and not the hot afternoon sun so it won the experiment.

Betty, hospice sent the music young lady, today was a podiatrist and tomorrow is a nurse. Vern does not know he is in hospice. I feel it will depress him and no reason for him to know at this moment. I am new at this and this is only my opinion. Maybe Marilyn can give me some feed back.

Photo is one of the raised beds.

We felt the same way about "Palliative Care" thru Hospice. We didn't want our Dad to feel we were giving up on him. With Hospice you have at your disposable access to MD and medications that would not be possible or at very least very difficult.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hospice & Palliative care - both are "end of life" right? They will get more comfort via meds that way, so it's certainly easier on them, pain-wise.
I can understand they being frightened by it, and just the thought would be difficult for all concened *Gentle Hugs*

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Palliative is not so much "end of life" but the understanding that a condition will not improve and therefore the measures are all comfort, not curative. Yes, much better pain control and the medications necessary to treat anxiety etc become more available, comfort being the goal.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon all,

Girls were here this morning, just left and lying down for a tad to take pressure off my neck.

Sun is shinning, not snowing. But they are calling for freezing rain tonight/tomorrow so glad I’ve nowhere to be.

Lordy Dianne, you’ve had a lot more bus cancellations than we, imagine tomorrow kids will have one though.

Sorry to hear you’ve had bronchitis, can’t imagine finding enough energy to bring in wood in the cold of the day..Lordy you are a strong lady.

Pat, our Home Depot is great as well to cut down to size wood for projects..Pat, you could always paint one..Lordy, sometimes I thought my rod iron one was so real I’d go to dust it lol

Sharon, is this a really drop of snow or is it rare for you to get 3”
Have visited a number of dh friends, what I like the best about having done so is mentally visualize what dog friend is talking about..I can now relate to your veggie gardens, thanks for giving me the view.how very interesting about their sending different professionals..quite interestin..I commend you on how you are dealing with Vern’s needs...

Pat, great description..

Thinking of taking a nap, have appt for hair cut at 4:30, think8ng a nap could be fit in, as long as I don’t sleep beyond 4:30

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, did you ever get your knees looked at?
I am getting antsy sitting around. I will ask Todd to set up my sewing machine in the morning before he goes to work. I can't lift more than 10 pounds, but nothing wrong with sitting and sewing.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

LK ..good to see you your home, and, fer sure no heavier lifting, OR, vacuuming !!

Susan .. I'd like the BANANA ice cream .. gosh, want to learn how to make ice cream in SMALL batches ..

Betty nice blouses .. how's the 'Ziggster" doing ??

Pat, nice wheels, best of luck with it's use :-)

Sharon .. HUGE hugs .. personally I think Vern does not need to know that Hospice is now involved with his care. I am unsure as to his level of cognition, but, he may have already figured it out and is saying nothing .. and you my dear can really use the help ..

Lovely day, resplendent sunshine, and temps ABOVE zero .. BUT, a dandy snowstorm is on it's way from Colorado .. uggggg ..

I am achy, my arthritis is kickin my tushy .. have an MRI scheduled March 1 to see how much damage to my SI joints (Lower back)

HUGS

~M~

Verona, ON

Sun is shining brightly but it is bitter cold. The TH turned right around when we were just about to enter the bush across the lane. I didn't get all kitted up for cold weather as I knew they wouldn't want to go far.

M send your warm temps here !!!

Warren refused all palliative and hospice care.I knew he would and I understood his choice.

Sharon I thought of you when I heard LV had snow. I was thinking your poor gardens would wonder what happened.

Stay safe and warm.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think that winter front will hit here and Dianne sure “m”
Dianne, is it icy where you are walking?

Been a hard winter for all us in the North..these bones are meant for warmer weather..maybe we should buy a complex and all move south.

Karen bet you are relieved you finally made the move south.

Ohh and Ziggy is behaving lol

Betty, did you get your haircut?
I was at our little quilt shop today. Three ladies were there stocking up on batting and fabric. They were from Manitoba, down here for the winter. Driving a motorhome complete with sewing machines. They do small craft projects like microwave bowls, oven mitts... Take them back home in the spring to craft fairs. Cotton batting here is $8.00 a yard. One of the ladies said it was almost $25 in Canada. They were tickled pink with the small town prices.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, I'm so very glad to be down here. It has snowed twice, a couple inches each time and went away in a few hours. BUT....Rain....Oh my we have rain. We are getting it for several days in a row now. Yard is a complete bog. So very glad we had the driveway paved, we would be adding knee deep in mud.

I got the T-shirt quilt all put together today. Have to decide what to do with it now. It's smaller than usual as they wanted an all Michigan quilt but didn't send me very many shirts. I could undo and put a border around each block or add a wider border to the outside edge. Hmmm have to think on it for a bit.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Marilyn - I make ice cream in 1 litre batches, which is why I made 4 different ones 😁
Banana Walnut it is! I think the next one I make will be coffee / choocolate. I have some coffee liqueur flavouring. It's really nice to make up my own flavours. The only thing I don't like is that some fruits don't stay nicely when they freeze, like fruit cocktail - some of the fruits stay frozen and are quite hard.
