Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chatwith friends old and new, come sit a spell and tell us about your day!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, LK - those are the ones we have - came 2 to a package.
Betty - let's hope that your pumps work & you don't get that amount of water.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess I got it for all of you..up keeping an eye on pumps, so far so good..sigh of relief

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, will be a much cooler day, hurrah..

Deb, is that good news re putting off the operation for a bit?

I was up off and on checking the water flow, pumps kept up, little seepage in corner of house where pumps are, yep got to save my pennies and have them change landscape come fall, likely help somewhat.

My weeping willow is on its side, sure hope I can lift it, goats beard flattened and I’m sure once I do my morning walk there will be much more .

Have doctors appointment this afternoon, hoping to have a nap this morning and not do too much else today..do want to go to Canadian tire though and buy a small b.b.q. They have on sale, find my big one is difficult to manage, lifting tank to have filled and it needs a new grate so a small one would suffice and maybe I’d bbq more.

What are your plans for the day

Verona, ON

No rain here.... I was so hoping the T & L storm that TO got last night would come to me. We had heat thunder though.

Betty I did the same thing - I never used the BBQ because it was so big. I bought a smaller one and glad I did.

So far lower temp today. I have all the windows open with a lovely breeze coming in.Weather Liars said low to mid 80's.

Woke up tired. I need a nap already. Keiran my garden helper comes at 9 am so I had better get some things ready for him. I gave him the choice of whether he wanted to come or not. He has a taste for money !!! lol He has an excellent work ethic.I only have a small flower garden this year but we will work on getting some other beds back to life.

Betty do you have chipmunk problems ? They have been stealing plants especially begonias or they dig a hole by the plant and bury a nut.

Stay safe, well and cool everyone.

Plumber came by to take out old tub & put in new one. Once the tub surround & drywall/insulation came out, we found a cracked ceiling support, mold & rotten wood on the wall & floor. Bob has the material etc, to rebuild the wall & fix the ceiling support, plus insulation & aquaboard. The plumber said he'd return when we're ready with the re-build.

We had quite the storm last night, lots of thunder and lightening and....NO RAIN! Such light sprinkle not event he ground wet and the dog didn't mind getting his fee wet. He hates water....so it was still dry to his standards.

Today is beautiful, nice and cool....after some morning issues.

AND...my car is total dead in the driveway. We have been trying for 2 weeks, jumping it, it is not the battery, but it won't hold a charge. Looks like a computer issue....after changing alternator. Starter might be next. DH on his way home to
"try again".

Betty, I loved celebrating Canada day with you several years ago. Parade and the foods and music behind. We all had such a good time.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mark your calendar then debbie for 2019..drats not good news on the car, hope Paul can fix it.

Susan, you likely will have tohavesomeonecome in and check all, areas for mild..mighthavebeen in house for years

Dianne bought my bbq..have to try it out tomorrow when Sharon is here, took out steak and chicken

Didn't sleep much last night so am yawning, i is tired lol
Made a big bowl of fruit, think I’ll have a bowl then get comfy in bed , if I fall asleep that is ok

Ohhh managed to finish quilting the winter birds quilt, one more for the tote..

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

It's only 7.40 and bed sounds GREAT to me! by Fridays I am sooooo tired. On Mondays (my extra day off) I think 4 10s are great, on Fridays I always wondered what the heck I was thinking!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I think the mold started when we moved here in 2016 (will be 2 years next month), and the movers did a real number on our place, cracking drywall, and buckling the tub surround. Bob felt, with the taping job he did, that it would block water getting behind the tub surround but I wasn't convinced. I hate being right....... in these situations.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, will be a sunshine day and normal temps, hurrah for that

Pat sure understand about the long hours, when I managed Space Bank division of American Express lordy about 40 years ago we were one of the first companies to initiate 12 hr shifts, I had staff that worked Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 8am-8pm then a shift came in at 8pmto 8amthen another group thursday,Friday and saturdaydoing same and part time staff working the 2 Sunday shifts..they loved it once body adjusted to the hours..

That is too bad Susan, think when there is mega mole health department makes you leave the premises, hope yours is at the start and somethingcanbe done.

Pumps are working but only every 5minutes or so,with the dehumidifier workingthe few inches in the cornerthat water came through is almost dry, than goodness, will keep it on for next few weeks.

Sharon is on her way to spend day for finishing projects, so farmot a good day, she drove a good distance when she realized she gasps forgotten her white backing now she is near barrie, must have been an accident, traffic stopped, sign thatmaybe she should have made it another day.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Maybe you need a break from sister?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Enjoy her company, lots done

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

glad to hear it was a good visit

Victoria Harbour, ON

and that is a basement bargain price with amount of work on it..
She just left, should be home by 8, think I will be sound asleep by the time she calls to say she is home. She came this morning barely able to move, her back and knees giving her the what for, she will not move tonight...am surprised my shoulders aren’t aching for sitt8ng so longat the machine, likely I will feel it tomorrow..

Tomorrow I must get grass cut and weeding done, promise to myself lol

Beautiful Batik, looks like stained glass.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Actually very pretty, one of the ones left here to quilt I’d done with same fabrics, different design and larger..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful quilts.

Victoria Harbour, ON

morning, beautiful day, high of 81 then add low feel like factor, just perfect?

Having coffee then going to get gas for lawnmower, drats forgot I had used up last of it, by then it should be close to 9 and I can cut grass.

Might take the afternoon if I can mend the stained glass blue heron and drop it off to Paul.

That ought to fill in my day,, but plans change and I likely will come up with a different plan lol

What are you up to today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got the grass cut, repaired the stained glass piece, not to my liking but it would have to be thrown otherwise , called Paul, he is away at a funeral this weekend so there goes that plan (doing happy dance, kind of didn’t want to go anywhere today)

Going to have a light lunch then out to do the trimming

Have to take bbq out of car, bought it Friday and haven’t looked to see if I have to put it together, have a steak out, macaroni cooking for salad so guess before my heart is set on bbq’’ing I best make sure I can get it to work

Sooo beautiful out there, shouldn’t be spent indoors

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

beautiful quilt Betty - so looks like stained glass! I need to take lessons from you on how to do it :-)
Betty - if we vacated the premises to look after stuff, we'd have nowhere to go. Bob's done a stellar job on the tub area. He's even put in a drop ceiling to cover where the plumbing got brought in last year re: freezing pipes. Now, for me to look after the rust spots on our RV's bumper, etc. I have the appropriate sandpaper & paint.

Looks like he is hard at work..aren’t you luckily he can do construction? Is he still working, haven’t heard you mention it of late.

Well the bbq was in parts, think I assembled it ok, guess I’ll know when I ignite it..always nervous when playing with gas..

Betty put a little liquid soap around the gas connection. If it bubbles you have a leak. If not, you should be good to go.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Actually Karen I read the to do’s and it’s what it told me to do, thanks

No big kabang lol

Now to enjoy a yummy supper

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That looks yummy!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yes, he works for a few hours each Sunday, as well as at home. :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, 82 today, doesn’t show the feel like..

Been out and watered sod and plants, think the 2 hanging basketon back shed are next to finished, thought maybe I didn’t waterthem but the are heavy, maybe with all that rain the other day it waterlogged them.

Just had breakfast, going to make another cup of coffee and see if I can put hooks on the stained glass blue heron then it will be a play day..

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Off to semi annual visit with my oncologist. Almost always a good visit, we chitchat about latest blood work and how awful traffic is here this time of year and how her daughter is doing. Need to run a couple errands and then home to sew.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Just taking it easy here. Temp is about 90, but not supposed to reach 100 or more today, rain is still in the area, we will wait and see how much we get.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good Day everyone!

Today we got up, and as soon as our coffee maker got 3 cups made, the power went out - coffee'd be too strong, so we didn't pour any. On the way to town, we heard they were out of power too, so didn't figure to get any coffee (or breakfast) there, either. Well, most of it was "up", but some stores didn't have their card readers working at cash-out. Good thing Bob had cash in his pocket (rare for us to carry cash). By the time we got home, we had power again. My computer didn't recognize my 2nd monitor, but it only took a minute to get it re-identified, so we're fine now.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We will be without power all day Friday due to electrician coming to put in new electrical box. I'll be at the hospital anyhow, it's the hand surgery so skin off my nose! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got to hatebeing without power, absolutely everything we go to use needs electricity..

Hmmm note to selves, maybe we should buy a treddle machine so at least we could sew. Lol

Pat, will you be off work after surgery?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Finally, good morning, been outside watering gardens and sod, have garbage by roadside amd it’s just 7:30am. Lordy is it humid out there, put curls in my hair about five and it’s now soaking wet and straight..must call for hair appointment, need perm before I’m off on my vacation.

Been gabbing off and on all night with Sharon, Hope, one of her American Eskimo was in labour, mommy was not doing well so off to the vets she went, delivered one on the way and they did c section..they had told her mommy was to have 5 pups but ended up with six. 2boys-4 girls..a few weren’t doing well but they worked on them and they seem to be doing ok, at least for now..nerve racking I’m sure

Going to have company all day, girls come about 9-1 then a friend Helene called and asked if she could come at 2 for the afternoon, be a tired girl tonight lol

Having coffee then will go check out craft room, make sure my things are put away and machines ready for them to use.

Yesterday when downstairs I embroidered 2 more Victorian redwork santas, must get back at doing them so I have enough for at least 6-7 throws..

Waiting for a delivery from Edmonton Alberta, plastic tracks for my quilter, others were starting to be brittle, will run to post office once girls leave in hopes they are in.

Other than that nothing much to do in my world..

Ohhh Liz, if your are lurking 15more days before my vacation starts.,getting closer

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful blooms Betty. I don't know what the red one is, but it it so pretty.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

wow Betty - and you were afraid that your garden wouldn't "spring back" after the building of the fence - looks like it's doing very well!

I'm knitting a baby blanket for my soon-to-be-born GGniece or nephew - due Aug 4th. This is the pattern. 24 squares, and on my 2nd one. Will knit up quickly.

That is such a cute blanket!!! Love the patterns

Betty, gardens look amazing! You are still supposed to be resting?
What did Doc say last week?

SO humid here. DH is going to dealer with my car today, and hope this is last step in fixing it....has been 3 weeks. New alternator, new starter, new battery. AND now the computer update and "flash". Fingers crossed!!!

Everyone be safe in this heat, it is going up thru the weekend in our area again
Betty & Dianne....so be prepared.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Beautiful pattern susan, will be a lovely gift.

Lindakay it’s right at the tip of my tongue, going to find the name and post

Drats power went out for about 1 1/2 hrs this morning so we girls just chatted, they left about 12:30 for post office, didn’t realize they open at 8am, could have been there before girls came..yippee got my tracking for quilter, bad me, she was looking for my package, kept telling her it would be a long package as it was tracking, no could find, finally she handed me this thin 20” br 20” by 1 1/2 inches, tracking was plyable.

Ordered fries and gravy, ate and now I’m waiting for Helene to arrive...be tired out by evening.

Mommy and babies are home doing well
