Oh no. So sorry to hear that happened.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, winds up and rain shortly so will be an inside playday..

Went out and put cushions of all the patio sets away, no sense leaving them in the rain, skitters are so bad so I’m now looking for a spray bottle, go8ng to make up a skitter recipe amd see if it works as good as they say..

Have fun at the coast, LK!!

My vet told me that either we do the surgery now, or once the bone wears down more, it won't be an option. At that point, it's just manage the pain, until we can't manage it anymore. So, for me, it's the surgery. She's young and active, I need to fix this while it's fixable.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

You must be so heart broken. What a terrible shame for a well bred dog.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks, Pat, I really am. She's a happy active young girl, just finished her AKC championship last year. I always do all the health screenings on my dogs, but, my vet told me, sometimes these things still show up. The surgery should give her full use of the hip and a pain free life. Rehab might be rough, as she'll have to be confined for at least the first month. We have a surgery consult scheduled for Friday morning.

Victoria Harbour, ON

when you say rehab Deb does that mean she would stay where the surgery is done?
Let’s hope you get answers at your consult..

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

No, for rehab, they do rehab at the surgery center, underwater treadmill, primarily. Maybe laser treatments. When I had to take Charlotte for laser treatments after the end of her tail was amputated, we'd see dogs coming in for the underwater treadmill therapy. I'm just so anxious about this. I was told no food for 12 hours and no water for 4 hours before her appointment, so I'm thinking, they must be planning on doing surgery right away? Otherwise, why no food or water, if just a consult? I've read it's 3-5 days stay after the surgery, which probably is a good (but expensive) thing. I'm going to have my hands full trying to manage everyone, and the first two weeks, while she still has stitches/staples, will be the worst. I may end up taking time off work to keep an eye on her. If she's confined to a crate, there's little else to do, but try to get at stitches!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds like either the will operate or perhaps there are more tests to put Bonnie through thus no eats..I’d be nervous as well..big operation amd yes, expensive I’m sure.needs to be done if you plan on breeder her!

Sharon’s son Terry had his dog euthanized this morning, his other dog about 6 months ago, he is very distraught he is not married and these dogs were his family.

Good amount of rain, great when it’s not torrential rain, then starts the extreme heat, it’s getting me ready for Death Valley next month lol

Sitting here hand sewing binding on the runner and head is just a nodding...was up at 5,not a wonder I’m tired..maybe a nap

Verona, ON

Oh Deb I so know how you are feeling. Sending positive thoughts and prayers to you, your girl and the medical staff involved.I know you are going to be at wit's end once you get her home. One of my Samoyeds had major surgery and couldn't climb the stairs for weeks. We all slept on the living room floor to be with her. Your love for this sweet girl is shining through. Do you think she will come home with a cone ? When Diesel had a huge growth taken off I bought and used a flex collar. Should have bought 3 to keep the other 2 from licking him.

Pouring rain here. I sure hope it keeps up for awhile. I was doubting the weather liars this morning and thought I would water. Decided not to .... for once they were right.

Have a blast LK !!

Guys are here trying to finish up a few jobs they started and never got finished. I'll be glad to have the house back to myself.

Susan, Betty what are your plans for Canada Day ? A neighbour has a drop in potluck and fireworks on Sat. night. I might stop by .... I'll see how I feel.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Not planning on breeding her, now. There is a chance this is genetic, and I can't risk passing it on to pups. Even though both of her parents tested clear, it's not worth the risk.
I'm guessing, if they do the surgery she'll come home with a cone. Everything that I've read says 3-5 days before they are sent home, then first 30 days is crate confinement, except for short walks to potty. No stairs, no jumping. Her favorite spot to sleep is on the dining room table! It will probably be several months before she can do that again!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bonnie won’t be happy with crate confinement..she will have to have extra loving that is for sure..

Omg Greg dropped in, just as he was about to climb the stairs he called out, asked me to open the door as he’d was going to carry dishes and bottles left in flower pot, no no says I, that’s a decorative flower pot, he already knew that lol

Then on his way downstairs he saw the vine fpgrowing across the back deck roof, removed it as he said it would ruin the troff, told him after he pulled it all down to leave it and I’d put it in fire pit tomorrow, nope. went to put them in fire-pit for me...

said I was killing all the grass back there because of all the trees and shrubs, I told him to look after his yard and I’d look after mine, said problem with that is one day soon he will have to look after it,laughing as he left.

He is a brat

Verona, ON

Oh ya Betty but he's your brat !

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bratty little Greg lol He's such a dear though :-)
LK - have a fabulous time at the coast! So envy you!!
Won't be doing anything special for Canada Day.
We'll be gearing up to do "stuff" around here. We have our jetted tub being put in, next Thurs, the window installer will come by to look at what needs to be done, for both installs, and tomorrow someone's coming to buy the hot tub & take it away. It will free up SO much room - it's an 8-person one.

I'm so sad about losing the family ring of my mom's. I was out gardening on Monday, and went to take it off when I went to bed. It must have flown off my hand when I was tossing weeds. I was out the next morning @ 7:30 and spent 1 1/2 hours looking in the veggie garden & going through the piles of weeds along the garden - raking, hand sifting........ No luck. I'd just gotten it in January, after she passed, and now it's gone.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

That he is Dianne, we quibble but all in fun.

Don’t know where the sandman is, he,sure didnt stop here..I watched Colombo now on to a different movie, almost tempted to get up and do something for a while in hopes I can grab a few more hours. Nights are sooo long when you can’t sleep.

Susan, pray to Saint Anthony...maybe it fell off in the house..how sad, know how much the ring means to you.

Mom comes today, she will stop to see her friend in barrie who is in a home then we will go out for supper then uncle Allan’s burial is tomorrow. She might spend a few days here so she can visit with aunt Muriel. Sharon is meeting up with her and giving her a quilt top she wants quilted, moms bringing her cross stitch quilt for me to do so they will keep me busy.

"moms bringing her cross stitch quilt for me to do so they will keep me busy." seems to me you can keep yourself QUITE busy without "help"! LOL

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - not familiar with St. Anthony, but now I've heard about him twice. I am certainly praying to him....

Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

Do you have a friend with a metal detector? That may be an option for outside in the weeds.

Verona, ON

Susan don't lose hope. Warren lost a very special ring that was custom made while hunting. They looked and looked but no ring. Five years later 2 of the guys were putting on a new roof. As they were cleaning up 1 of them found Warren's ring.

Dull overcast day here. I have been so tired this last week or so ..... I wake up just as tired or more than I went to bed. Since the guys have finally finished up I might just have a nap in a bit.

Sure hope LK is having wonderful weather with no rain.

Victoria Harbour, ON

He is Patron of lost objects, if it can be found he will find it!

Pat how right you are, don’t know why everyone thinks I’ve nothing to do lol

Sun is just coming out, can’t see it will dry up everything though

Decided if make a coffee, organize my wool fabric and just sit and cut some pennies and tabs I’ll need for my project.

Was going to take something out for supper but think mom and I will go for steak dinner somewhere, have a hankering for steak and baked potato..sure wish they still had ponderosa here..miss the one in Orillia..they also closed the Outback in Barrie so not a lot of choices.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Borrowed a metal detector from someone 2 towns over - met in town between us. Did some shopping, came home to use it and....... batteries are dead. Scouted around with our neighbours - one had 3, but all dead. We had one - dead. Convenience store here normally stocks them but is out. Called a neighbour - she's in town, so will buy some for us, and then we'll try again.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

phew - just helped Bob move our 8-person hot tub - it was between our deck & shed, on its side. We rolled it on metal pipes, moving one in front as the back one was moved away from.
Someone's coming to buy it tonight

Where is everyone?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here. Back from the coast. We had a wonderful time. My youngest son and kids came down. We took a boat tour to see the dolphins. No good pictures of them, but they all had babies with them. That was so much fun.

LK that is exciting to be able to see the dolphins and their babies.

Just had a T & L storm pass through. It is already hot and humid outside. We have a heat warning in effect. I think Debbie does too. Not too sure if the warning goes as far north as Betty. but her heat will be hellish too anyway.

Stay afe, warm and cool.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Always great to have a day on the beach LK. One of my grandsons messaged me he is moving to San Antonio with a friend. He said he will be sure to come up before he goes.

Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

Thanks for letting me be in your exchange. Is there a time limit? There is a shop that has cute things but I don't get there very often, but I may take time to go there this week. Is $20 the limit?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

It would also be helpful to know people's preference, time line, dollar limit etc...

For me ANYTHING frog! must be able to tolerate outside weather. Art or birdhouse I can mount inside my open patio - BRIGHT pink or lime green are favorite color combinations. Welcome sign for entry.... lots of ideas! LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Anything whimsical for me. I also love angels, hummingbirds, frogs, fairy, turtles or gnomes.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

$20.00 was the set price. I think mail date is end of July?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was going to say morning but it’s afternoon..

Great day yesterday, Dianne and Susan hope you got to enjoy our Canada Day, 151 years old..great place to live...got to watch some fireworks, cousin Gary came to work on his quilt, he didn’t know he was, think he thought he was go8ng to show me what he wanted done and I’d do it, not quite a NO Pat but we worked on it together lol. Yikes, brought me 2 more tops he made want8ng them quilted..big sigh

Lordy it was hotter than hades yesterday and much the same today.

This morning I got everything watered before the heat of the day the came in for a break, called Home Depot to see if they had sod, yep so off I went

Asked the sales lady in outdoor plant department if I could pull in and put sod in the car and then pay for what I was able to fit in, told me it was my Canada Day pressie, sod had been there since Friday and I could fit what I could and take for free

Looked at the sod, looked pretty green so I loaded as much as I could, 26 rolls, with tax would have cost $196 so could leave that department not paying for anything so bought a few hand gardening tools, s shrub that has pink flowers and a hanging basket, so I donated to their Dept..lol

Know I’ll pay later, loaded the 26rolls, unloaded the 26rolls, laid them down, watered them and in for eats..think it might be a good idea to take a pain killer so I won’t hurt as bad as the day progresses

Making salads, bought steak, new potatoes, yellow beans, cook8ng supper for Jeff as he is dropping in around supper, if he had already eaten then I’ll have left overs for tomorrow

Should go out and clean the dirt out of my car,,did put plastic down but still a mess but tomorrow is another day, need some thing to do tomorrow

Might sit and pin some pinwheels, have a top to put together for Sharon, we will see if I find it more appealing to just lay on the couch..
That has been my weekend, how about yours

Victoria Harbour, ON

Where the pillars are, right hand side at back is New shrub with pink flowers..think I’ll pick up 2nd one tomorrow to even thinks out

New flower basket, adds colour until other flowers bloom
