That acts like the plant I was growing in the concrete home made pot a while ago

Debra, pkg arrived today. I know 1 sprout will make it, possibly the seed, but the 2 smaller slips were damaged, your medicine bottle has made your seeds sprout for their life, chuckl. I will be finding places to snuggle them all in tomorro morn. The envelope is dry. Rain is drizzling in again tonite, slow soak for us, my wet weather creek is dry still. Tree leaves have been shedding all summer- sweetgum and oak are shredding a few leaves.
Ju, fert for clematis seems to be 10-20-10/ or even 20-30-20 during bloom seasons. Darn sprouts didnt get yellow leaves even sitting in a non draining bucket of sand 1/2" deep. Guess they like water.

Oh I am THRILLED to see those seeds sprouted in route! :D Ju, love those spiders, I just love any spider that eats bugs. Glad your senna is doing well, I need someone who is in a tropical climate to take a sesbaunia tree off my hands I sprouted from seed over winter, and now it's about 4 ft tall. I snipped some coleus again and transplanted them no roots and now they are doing great with these temps in the 80's , what a weird and wonderful summer so far. Ju, I have a date seed and a dark bing cherry seed soaking, hope to see a sprout. Not that I have any room, I just like to play with propagation. I did have the white swan but that coneflower got the virus, can't remember what it's called but I yanked them all out. I took three cuttings from Kopper King yesterday and am trying to root them again, we will see. I have red star Hibiscus comes back every year, planted a white star from Robin, nothing yet. Here is hoping as I really want those. ALSO< I just dug up some root sucker starts of Royal Robe tree, now what do I do ? HELP. :P

Debra , Aster's Yellow or Aster Yellow's the name of Coneflower disease If you spray them with a Capful of ammonia and a capful of some Listerrine or Scope , that will kill the disease , ( I know they say there is no cure , But I have done that and the next season the Coneflowers were okay , I lost one of three , One is an old plant now doing well
The Hibiscus . and Small Senna ?

spray the soil or spray the leaves?

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Gypsi The plant , particularly the crown The microbe begins from a leaf hopping insect , The microbe then works it's way down the inside of the stem , When it reaches the root nodes of the crown it kills the plant or makes it extreme in it's difficulty to bloom , grow , and so on ,
Kill the microbe , the name of the game , Ammonia is a nitrogen that is absorbed quickly , so a small amount . , Should only be enough to green the leaves a little ,
The Anti microbial (Listerine) is absorbed with the Nitrogen ) Ammonia ) etc , Dead Bug )

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I think , ( although sparingly ) lol ? this from a few weeks ago , I came to the Conclusion this first photo is the Helianthus helanthoides ( perennial wild sunflower )
Now I have the mystery of the other plant sitting with the Aspen seedling
2nd pic Meanwhile , a green fennel is growing ,

your perennial wild sunflower looks like boneset. Have you had blooms yet?

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I have some Mallow , Coneflowers , The Hollyhock , three or four types of fleabane
Some feverfew seeds to re start , Sky blue Aster , those two trees ? , Several planted , Some cherry brandy rudbeckia seeds are in there also , oh , poppies are there as a test ,

Meet Mona the monarch butterfly

Very exciting day in Oxdrift. A while back I posted a picture of the monarch butterfly larvae that Kira had collected from her Moms garden and was farming them in a little live insect canister. It has been quite the journey! Wendy and i missed the phase of the larvae shedding its skin and transforming into a chrysalis as that happened when the kids were at home. This past weekend we all went camping together at my brothers cabin on Lake of the Woods and there was a huge discussion as to whether the chrysalises were going to have to come camping with us as there was the risk of them emerging as butterflies while we were gone and being locked up in the canister with nobody to release them. Well I guess the decision was made to leave them home and everything went like clockwork. When they arrived back at home on Sunday the first one had just emerged and the second followed shortly after. That completed the original 2 that they started with and they released those at home. Somewhere along the line they had added a third and because it had spent more time in a more natural environment where they don't feed during the heat of the day it was behind the others. So they arrived here on Monday night with it still in the container in chrysalis stage and another container with a forth one that had somehow came dislodged from its outside location. This morning i was outside cutting grass and Kira came dashing out. I am 3/4 deaf but I could hear her over the noise of the lawnmower. Mona was emerging. I have never seen anything so amazing in my entire 65 years except maybe the birth of my own children. My wife got the whole thing on video on my phone. For anyone who has never seen it, it would be well worth it to search the net for a video. They emerge as a very weird looking butterfly with a huge abdomen and dwarfy wings, then in a very short time the wings hydrate to full size and the body shrinks. After we released her we watched her for quite a while and took hundreds if photos. After I finished cutting the grass I went back to look for her and she seems to be gone.

Sounds wonderful Keith!!! I typed more previously and it erased , oops .

Keith Color of that is Stupendous for sure !!!

No monarchs, not many bees, but wait, Joe woke me up to see this female on my milkweed stand out front.. finally saw some honey bees on the bee plant that acts like it's on steroids. Obedient, Jerusalem artichoke from Ju, and the beautiful Royal Catchfly..I've got lots and lots to share if anyone wants seeds or roots this Fall..

Great photos as usual Debra

Oxdrift, Canada

Whoops! We just googled how Debra knew her monarch was a female and it turns out Mona is a male.

Fort Worth, TX

Hopefully Mona will find many girlfriends because I haven't seen a monarch here all year. beautiful pictures everyone.

the first tray of asclepius tuberosa are in drink cups and good potting mix, one plant per drilled cup. hitting up all children and neighbors for styrofoam cups for the 2nd tray

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Way to go, Alice! I also collect used stryo cups, now I don't feel so bad. I also have been using water bottles again.. That seems to work for rooting and for germinating seeds.. That flutterby stuck around today and eventually went to the back garden. I have several different milkweeds so she had lots of housing for cats!
Ju, you are right and thanks for correcting me! Can you send a picture of the Jerusalem artichoke> That cut leaf is everywhere, and there is another type yellow flower tall and different growing with it..I want to guess cup plant?
Keith, I need a male to flutter around here for awhile..
We lost the main trunk branch on this poor pear tree. It is really old, hope we don't lose the rest of it, anyway, the coleus from my seed saves are growing!

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Debra Cup plants look like an oriental Biennis leaf , if they are Helianthus Tuberosa , they have potato roots ,
I will get a picture Tomorrow , I have them and cutleaf everywhere ,
I got the pow wow white coneflower seeds planted only it is difficult for me about how long to dry a seed before planting or if at all Waiting on the White Swan coneflower seeds
Pear tree should come right back , I cut on mine all the time
Morning glories are still being slow to happen ,

Fort Worth, TX

none of my morning glory seeds germinated this year, got in their spot too late, or cutworms got the. One moonflower ipomoea, sprouted, got 3 foot tall, when I tied up my boneset the vine was caught in it and I accidentally pulled it out. these are my fall blooms and this year I won't have any, but next year I will start earlier.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I think you have time for more vines, Alice. Your winter isn't like ours, and mine bloom into November outside if it hasn''t frozen. Keep trying!

Thumbnail by joeswife
Fort Worth, TX

mine planted from seed in april or may don't really get blooming until September or october. We will have a freeze before january. You have longer days in spring and summer than we do, we just have more warm days

Debra, your sprouts are all that is surviving, i was wondering if you id which you have by leaf sprout color? This one appears to love its position, fingers crossed it gets some protection and doesnt get killed. They are getting a drizzle of rainwater at least once a day, I have so much sand here... I expect the wrath of a daughter when she notices them, chuckl.

Moon vine ( lavender) first pic... second looks like an orange noah. Hoped your japanese i nils were sprouted, dang. I have some heavily rooted vines, let me send them to you Monday. No, wait for next Spring please. We have lower light saturation thats hurting me. Then I would need to stash it to wait. I am babying these, but they are so fragile. I just wondered if it was a visible difference. So many bugs here, our humidity is still 98% thru the day, could rot so easy, but thank you!
