Keith Last night it stormed at Midnight , power went out , Rained heavy for half hour then quit , for the next four hours ,we had lightning without rain or thunder with the roads steaming and dead air calm , 80 to 90 degrees during that with 94 % Humidity ,
Then at 5 AM it stormed again finally dropping to 72 degrees It was a Miserable Time last night
Power came back about 9 AM
if there had ever been an argument for a back up generator , last night was it ,

cytf I always use to grow Glads ,, that was my first fun annual ,

Keith , fence in decoration is a great garden feature ,

I have been mostly hiding , lol Today I did do the chore of edging part of the concrete walks , I may have a tiny red Erigeron growing as sprouted today

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Here's H. 'Kopper King' in bloom as promised. Oh my what a great surprise I had today, look at this beauty!!! Electric Orange! Hawkweed bloom closed for the evening. Hawkeed daytime bloom.

I enjoyed all your pics. Great color on that Gladiola Cytf. Love the Dill in bloom Ju and Keith , you should be renting out your property for Wedding Photos. Heck, that's a photographers dream and not only for a backdrop.

Wow, that hibiscus is LOADED with blooms and the electric orange is stunning. Is the hawkweed actually a weed or something you plant there? The bloom looks a lot like a tall weed here that we call sowthistle. I believe it would be related to a dandelion as it secretes the white milk when cut

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Hieracium maculatum ‘Leopard’ (Spotted Hawkweed) looks like a weed due to it's Dandelion resemblance but the blue/green spotted with maroon foliage, is nothing like the typical lawn weed. I grew and planted some for my MIL, along with the white Catananche caerulea for her dry shade area. She wanted them both out because they looked like weeds. I have both in my garden.

Ju propagated the Electric Orange by pressing cells together. He kindly gave me a little leaf start about three years ago (BTW the anticipation has been dreadful). EC sure was worth the effort and the long wait, he made a really beautiful Daylily.

Robin A question , Does it have the fluorescent color that is really difficult to get on film ? Hibiscus is gorgeous !!!
I actually like Hawkweed , but you all know I am a weed lover , lol

My other seedling from seeds of the Daylily parent that no longer exists this seedling is a blooming dynamo here is it's third set of three blooms with one bloom or two blooms happening before This made a lot buds , photo 1

So many blooms. Keith? Your coleus is all seed starts? May have to catch up on my gardening catalogs...I am lucky just to be catching up with weeding since they are more vigorous than anything else here. We miss ya on Fireside Ju, know you making busy with the sun you have. Can I send anyone these mosquitoes? We have way too many...

Sorry Kitt, don't know just how I misled you on that one. The only coleus I grow from seed are Vista Under the Sun mix. The rest are over 30 varieties that I overwinter in the basement under lights and propagate by cuttings in the spring. The Vista that I start by seed are the ones that I grow in those massive bags off the back deck if you remember them from last year. They are just about photographable. It takes a while to cover up the black bag they grow in. Maybe i will take a shot this afternoon if we get a bit of cloud so you can still see the bag to understsnd whst i am yapping about.

Having a hard time posting this afternoon. Third attempt.
Last photo is for Kitt. As mentioned in previous post these are the only coleus I plant from seed. You can still seed the black plastic bag they are planted in at the bottom

Beautiful bright colours Ju and Debra

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I agree all kinds of wonderful and gorgeous flower color and Decor on this thread

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

I was simply wondering if I had remembered right. Coleus in the south isn't nearly that beautiful, so I was wondering if I might find seeds of those intense ones. If I could find my morning glory seeds,I would plant some now I am home, but the natives down here are everywhere this year.

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Great blooms and foliage everyone, what a treat! Yes Ju, Electric Orange isn't as mat and flat in real life. I took the photo in full sun because I didn't have the patience to wait any longer for better lighting. Let me know when you want some back I'll even attempt a leaf propagation for you.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Robin , No Hurry , let it grow a few seasons , My seedling other , is making no seeds, I may divide it as there is a lot of plant at the base , weather needs to be cooler for that , July august blooming I have no August so far , as those late blooming need to be divided Oct, Nov, when weather allows .

Kitt something always eats my Coleus here ..

Robin , I was not knocking photo (in Case ) I had that several times before I got a pic where it showed , Still there is a nice ruffle for a orange bloom on that , and the color is very solid with the two tone stripe , looks nice ,

Keith nice warm day there ,,

Fort Worth, TX

wow Keith, you may have a short summer but you do it up proper! And Debra your colors are popping bright too.

I have a few things in bloom now, Texas sage and Phlox (John Fanick), marigolds and passion flower, one abelia bush and flame acanthus, turks cap and mexican petunia. My porch petunias are alive. No pictures today, the temp outside right now is 102 or 103, with a THI around 109, pictures are for tomorrow when it is cooler.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

lovely pics of seed sprouts, Ju. I still have not gotten any poppies to germinate, maybe I'll have a huge load of them after this winter stratifies them? Kieth, your summer looks lovely, wish I was there to help with the blue berries. I have been eating blackberries out the kazoo here, and the elderberries are almost ready to start turning. Alice, I have been looking for Abelia, can't wait to see your pics! Robin, here is my Kopper King.. this was from June, tho.. it has grown really big and made another clump! it is too crowded, so going to divide and move to more sun and less company this fall.

Debra bunches of people like stratifying poppies for germination , it is naturally enough , and some might grow for you that way , Poppy seeds don't last long as a majority ,
I was only trying a few
Berries all sound yum , ! Love the Hibiscus , I scared a Hummingbird when I came up the drive a while ago that was on mine ,

Two rock gardens started over last 2 years. Almost had to start back at square one this spring as deer reaked major havoc in there last winter. Laying chicken wire over worked the winter before but this time the snow cover melted back too often and they couldn't resist the temptation
