Morning all,

You have to be so cautious and ready to fight for yourself when getting medical care..

Hope Barb and Norm are ok, haven't seen her post in a bit.

Debbie, how is the roof going?

again my body time cloth said it was time to get up at 3:30, fought it till 4 and finally agreed..today and tomorrow will be long days so might as well get right at it. I think the time of taking border off I could have the room painted..stopper for coffee then bavpck at it.

Onto of godson, he loved his gift..
Projects galore, want to finish Paul's bench before Saturday, big sigh, doubtful as I want to finish putting the tv cabinet together

Morning everyone,

I'm going to put in my 2 cents about my recent last visit with the NP. I have yet to see the MD since she took over the practice last summer. My first experience with the NP was fine. I was in a couple of weeks ago and had a student NP. I let her go through things - I was supposed to have a physical. No BP taken, I was given the phone number of the clinic who does breast screening plus a letter to call a Physio and set up a visit. There is no way I can go to Physio with the pain in my right shoulder. It is hell when I try to put on a shirt let alone brush my teeth. The student immediately said it must be nerve damage. At that point I asked that the regular NP be present. Neither examined my shoulder and the NP supported the student about nerve damage. I just know there is a tear in the rotator cuff but they didn't want to listen and would not send me for xrays or imagining. I am going to have to search for a new doc... wish me luck.

Great present for your godson Betty..

Need to get into Ktown this morning to pick up a hanging chair for the new deck/porch. It's at Pier 1 and I called last night to make sure they had 1 in stock. It is in AND it is on sale saving me over $100.00 Woo Hoo.

OK need to get the garbage bags tagged and into the Escape.so I can take them up the lane to the township road.

Stay safe everyone.
Dianne and her TH

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, I sure hope you get some answers to your sore shoulder. Did you fall or damage it? Why do you have to tag your garbage bags?
Beautiful gifts Betty. Glad to hear your meds are working for you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

What experiences..never had a nurse practitioner

What kind of chair Dianne?

Lindakay we are allowed recyclables, paper and a bafpg of garbage each week at curveball pick up. My municipality charges $15 for 5 tags..you put a tag on any extra bag out want picked up

Victoria Harbour, ON

Break is over,(had an hour nap) still 1 1/2 walls left to take wallpaper border off then it's a painting time..at least you then see a difference, right now feel as though I'm going backwards

Oh Betty, we are waiting for the same weather. The guys were here just before 8:00 and setting up ladders and trying to finish as the next several days call for rain. I think until next week.

This has been such a battle. I think after, they have to come INSIDE and repair the damage to the attic, insulation and two ceilings in bedrooms. If anything could go wrong....it has...since they started. Mostly the weather. They said this was a 2 to 3 day job. They have been here 9 days.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope you were paying by the job and not days??

They are 1/2 way through putting everything in its place, everything gets wiped down..I am exhausted, helping antad but its from not sleeping..yawn

Lyndonville, NY

They gave us an estimate for the job, and signed contract of what it would be.
NOW they also have to cover damage from their neglect/rain damage upstairs.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well it's not good news re damage but ok for upgrades debbie..thing we need a Betty/debbie hug day don't you think?

My team left, they get tomorrow off for July 1st, some tame Monday some tomorrow, told Sharon about 20 boxed to unpack still, nope just went and counted, total of 56 not counting what is still in the pod. Sure glad 4 of them are coming monfpday..she said it will be a dust free house lol

Going for a hot bath then a nap
Waiting for sale papers to see what specials are

Janet whom I made the fidget apron for just picked it up, loved it!

Your fidget apron really got me thinking about a little autistic kid at church. Maybe that would be a help to him.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty / Debbie - here's my hug for each of you - renos aren't fun, but the end result is AWESOME - mine is Almost there. Lots of sorting yet. No contractor to do it for me though lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat I think that your little man would love one..next time I go to barrie I'll drop into lens mills and pick up a few aprons for future fidget blankets.

Susan, I'm happy for you, nothing like having your sewing supplies at hand. Do you leave your sewing area up all the time?

Going to run into Canadian tire for bookcase and Home Depot bench, that way I have all weekend to put the items together..must check to see if I've room for one more storage cabinet as Canadian tire has a 25x12 1/2 x 60 cabinet for $49.99 reg. $129.00..both open at 7am

Not a wondee I can't sleep, mind won't stop

Lyndonville, NY

Well, they finished last night! Woke to silence and has been minimal dog barking. I think that drove me crazy more than the workers. Sam barked at their every move...protect Mom! Good thing they finished as it is raining!!!

Betty I will see what I can do about that hug day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Torrential rain here,,likely heading your way, glad you are safely covered.

Sharon and I both need backing/batting so might take a run over next weekend, quick trip to joanns

Working on bench grrr

Verona, ON

Heavy rain off and on since midnight. The guys are here working. They have the roof on the new section so can get out of the rain there.

Went out early and got all my errands done so don't have to go out until some time next week. I think Mon I am going with 2 friends (we are all widows - both of them have lost their DH in the last year) to get strawberries. We have gone for the last few years. They don't want to pick so Maryl calls and they pick them for us. Right now they are saying at all the pick your own places to wear rain gear and wellies.

Oh Debbie I so envy your quiet. Duke and Sammy must be brothers from another mother. Of course once Duke gets going Diesel has to put his 2 cents in. Chaos is a very quiet dog... the only time he raises a fuss is when I go out without him.

Day early but Happy Canada Day everyone.
Dianne and her TH

LK we have to tag each bag of garbage that we put out. If it is not tagged it will not be picked up.Even if you drive it to the dump which is now only open 2 days a week the bags have to be tagged.I forget how many bags we are given but it is never enough. I'm lucky as I get Frank's extras plus 1 of the cottagers gives me his too. If you need more tags you may buy them for $2.00 each.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We don't have recycling here. Everything has to be in bags, and placed in a large container, the truck drives by, and grabs the can, dumps it in the truck and they are gone.

A couple images of the finished project.

The original shingles were black. Now is called Hickory.

Looks good, did they fix the inside problems too?

Verona, ON

We have recycle too LK. It is on a different day than garbage pick up.Every other week it is cans and the next week papers, waxed bags and glass. They monitor it very closely. One time I got the weeks mixed up and drove the whole week with about 10 bags of newspapers in the back of the Escape.

Doug just left - he has put in a long day. Next week they will put up the screening, hang my chair and that will be done. Then they will start the fencing for the TH. I am half hoping they don't turn up in the morning. As Mike the general told me there are no holidays in summer construction.

Of course now the guys are finished for the day the sun comes out.
Dianne

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

We had recycling at our curb in Calgary (special bin) on same day at garbage pickup, different truck.
Betty - I usually leave my sewing table out. about 1 or 2 days a week I plan on putting it away, usually now so I can feel the size of the room, and also so I can continue to organize & move stuff around. Right now I'm sewing, but I want to put the table away so I can put the area rug down. Little things like that, and putting up pictures, still need to be done.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, sleepless in Victoria harbour...big sigh

Been up since 1, there were 2 part walls that I didn't paint in basement entrance because they were doing drywall so I decided was I'm up already might as well get it done...plan on having bath once I get it done that lol take a bath and try the sleep thing again.

Your room Dianne will be a blessing to you, just think of all the evenings you wille able to sit out with th by your side and not swatting..same here with my back closed in screen room..I don't use it as much as I should. Have you been getting as much rain as we have?

Feel badly for these construction workers, mike is right, no holidays in cottage country.

Susan it's the little finishing touches right that makes it a home. They will bring me my rugs on Monday, they said cleaning went well and they look new. For awhile they lost them, thought they were in Orillia compound..wish they had, would have changed the colouring.

Debbie, what I would give for an older home such as yours..love it! Lordy between all of us we have had some construction woes..are they giving you any problems re inside repairs at their cost?
How many bedrooms do you have?

I was busy yesterday putting the bench together when Aline and her hubby Tom dropped in, saw them take tools from their van, hmmm? Here Aline had counted all the plugs and light switches, Tom replaced all with new more modern square untwist and plates..most youcant see because of tables but Aline wanted them done, too funny..Tom is handicapped, worked in mega pain..after 2 rye and coke he moved more easily.

So this morning I'll finish bench and get it downstairs and on to the bookcase.wanted white but ended up with grey wiidgrain to match the tv stand and coffee table set.

I'm rambling so maybe it's time to crawl back into bed.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

May I be the first to wish all my Canadian friends a most wonderful Canada Day!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like everyone is finally getting their homes done.

Happy Canada day ladies.

Barb, how are you doing?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Happy Canada Day!

Verona, ON

Thanks for the Canada Day greetings. It is pouring rain. Darn !!! The parade might go ahead but all the festivities at the parks will be cancelled. The community so looks forward to it ..... hoping the rain will clear off.

One year on Canada Day when I was still at IGA it was blistering hot. The fire alarm kept going off and the volunteer fire department members had to leave the festivities (which they were in charge of ) each and every time. They can't stand down even though they know nothing is wrong. I finally unplugged the source of the alarm knowing I would be held responsible if there really was a fire.Turned out there was a dead bug in that fire alarm.

Oh Debbie silence here this morning. Feeling blessed !! You get your day to yourself today, right ?

Betty I often get up and do something when I can't sleep or wake up and can't fall back asleep. My problem is I can't even get to sleep.

Had planned to weed but since it is raining I think I will read.

Susan when is it you go to see the doc about your other knee replacement?

Stay safe everyone.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you all for the Canada day well wishes..Proud being able to call Canada my 'native land! Although my Canada quilt is not quilted due to flooding and illness I will set it out and enjoy.

Disappointing for sure Dianne when so much work goes into these community celebrations, rain held out for us, hope it does the same for you.

Got Paul's bench finished, now to get it to him, takes 3 men to move it

My back was KILLING me from moving the rolling office chair on an office mat that was pitted and breaking over plush carpet in my sewing area.... ENOUGH! I started moving furniture, got a knife, wrecking bar and hammer and started pulling up carpet and tack strip. Much to my surprise there was old fashioned tile under that carpet! 9 inch blocks that are wood look. Not perfect shape but I can live with it.
I bought a big conference table from a thrift store so it doesn't have the cross bar support stuff to hamper my ability to put storage under it. I am on my way to get a desk to replace my folding computer desk that I had been using for my sewing machine.

I hope to have my stuff mostly sorted and put away by the time I go back to work on Wednesday. My goal is to reduce my "stuff" by at least 1/3. Time to get real about what I can/will get done. I am seriously considering donating my finished R/W/B blocks to the local Quilt of Valor so they can be used NOW. I haven't touched them in 2 years, some of them MUCH longer.

I'll report in later.

Verona, ON

Good for you Pat!!! Once you gain momentum you can definitely be on a roll.

Some friends dropped by to see the new construction. To my horror I found a colony of large ants just racing up the new stairs and into the new room. I have heavy duty inside ant spray so sprayed some areas with that. Tomorrow I will go into the village and get some outside ant spray. I had hoped not to go out the lane until Monday when I will go for strawberries but the ants give me the woolies.I've put some indoor ant traps all along the wall to the new porch but so far there are no ants inside the house. I have to go take another shower - all I feel are ants crawling in my hair. There are none but I feel like there are.

Sharon your gardens are beautiful. Saw some photos on FB.

What's everybody up to this weekend ?

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat, we are glutton for punishment, those are heavy pieces to be moving but like you when it's up to you and you've no help it's you who must do it and suffer the aches and pains.

I'm learning though, finished the bench for downstairs, maws easier to out together up here, more lighting, days of old I'd have tried to carry it downstairs, days of new, gang coming on Monday, they can movemit lol

I will, drop in to see, uncle Allan this agpfternoon then head to Paul's for Canada day festivities..bought fireworks to add to the pit, will pick up fruit trays and also try and find where I put the Canada day flag with Canada geese in it for paul and Wilena and bring one of the doll Quilts for my nieces 3 nieces that are bound to be there.

did my nails, now hair then leaves me a few hours to relax

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends.
Sounds like all work in progress is getting close to completion. Our weather hasn't been very good for outside work lately. Inside stuff can fill the gaps.
Pat, I'm sure your local QOV group will be thrilled with your blocks. We have a
woman in our group who is a whiz with orphan blocks, even when they are a bit off size.
I have a group presentation next weekend, just finishing up labels for that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got in,tad tired so decided not to stay for fireworks.

Just climbed into bed, backside paining so heating it up, hop to fall asleep shortly

I remember doing a quilt with odd sized orphan blocks and it's the pretties quilt. Reminds m still have more so must gather them up...

Pat, hope you took a break today.

Karen, bet you get mega wewingnsone on days such as this.

Hiya!!! Looks like you all had a splendid Canada Day! Big fun loving Armwraps.

Wow - Judy - thanks for the pics - fireworks!
Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canucks!
Today was a relatively quiet one - started to repaint my garden statue owl. He's cement, stands about 1 1/2 ft tall, and we've had him for 18 years, but he was in a garden for years before that. He was peeling a lot and it's Time to repaint.
I'm leaving the eyes as is, but here's the before & after. I have all the detailing to do, but have scraped off the peeling paint. I took these pics so I'd know how to detail. The "mostly grey only" is after I've painted the body. Now I can follow the one with the eyes, so I know how I should detail. I sure hope I can do a good job. The branch he's on is really missing a lot of paint, so I'm mostly going by memory for that.
I went to an egg farm this afternoon to get 3 flats of eggs for ourselves and friends, and they were Out Of Eggs! Told me about their neighbours who also sell eggs "you'll see their egg shed"......... no, didn't find it, so went home without eggs. I'll get Bob to come with me tomorrow, and see if HE can see the "egg shed"....
It was a very hot day today (75F) and humid. Then the rains came - with lightning & thunder. Now it's gone, and the sun's out in full force. We sure needed the rain to relieve the humidity.
I went on Tues the 27th, to go to the knee surgeon's office and they'll get back to his nurse with the info that I can get my 2nd knee done. I had hoped to hear by now when my surgery is, but his nurse had said I would be one of the first for surgery at the beginning of Sept. Let me reiterate - I am Not happy with the other Dr saying I will have to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life - that's garbage & I'll tell my GP that (that's who the Dr said I would consult with about it. I got the feeling that she thought I was being argumentative - SO?). Frankly, I'm feeling so much more healthy & lively than I have for a very long time (2 years) and that was before I had any clot problems. It was about the time of our first move Out of our own home into a rental. Gawd, that 2 years was awful, but to come to this much better state of physical & mental health is a blessing.
