Morning, might be a sunshine day for a change, hope so, grass needs cutting!
Susan maybe you were looking for a big shed andits a little she'd set in a corner somewhere..
Sipome photos from yesterday
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends old and new..
Looks like everyone is having a great time.
Nice job on the owl painting Susan. Make sure you are using outdoors paint.
Now that our Canada day is over you will all be celebrating yours, any special plans?
Debbie thinking I'd coming over with Sharon Saturday, think you could meet up even at Cracker Barrel? Have 2 full totes of treasures re Red/white/blue, can I bring them to you???
It will be just Todd and I, going to cook potato salad, baby back ribs and baked beans.. We will be doing fireworks in the front yard as we always do.
I'm really party pooper when it comes to "celebrating" the 4th of July. I don't like loud noises, I worry about the kids and all the accidents.. the poor firemen trying to keep the resulting fires from bursting into full blown disasters! Almost 20 years ago I went to watch the fireworks that are done from a boat in the middle of the Columbia river and got home just time to see an aerial firework the neighbor shot off land behind my house and see the horse trail go up in flames. .. Ya... just not fan of fireworks!
Mega fireworks in midland/penetanguishene last night..with it being so wet, little chance of fire..with everyone bringing fireworks last night for Paul to set off, am sure all enjoyed.
Had so much planned for today but body said nope, no go so here I layer innthe couch..
Start of the Cherry Festival this week. Yesterday and today were the airshows. Much of it flies over our house with the loud noises. Wish we were out of town for this week. I can remember when it was fun but is all too commercial now. Don't need to go mix with the extra million people.
Comes with living in beautiful invested communities..like I with the band shelter in the back of where I live,,keep promising I'll go away that weekend as well lol
Slept most of the day, now I'm wide awake and it's bedtime but my body wouldn't allow me to do anything..
Tomorrow everything else in the storage pod and offit goes. How on earth will all this stuff fit back in this house..like taking some purchased project out of a box and try to fit it all back together..
Betty, those are angels hugs raining down on your shoulders. Nice photos. Glad your body took over and made you rest.
We are doing nothing for the 4th. I will just be keeping the animals in to keep them from getting spooked by the fireworks. The West is really dry so hopefully everyone will be careful and not start anymore terrible fires.
My garden is getting fried by all of the heat. It has cooled down to 105.
I tried to do a "Betty" two days ago. First I stumbled over something by the water faucet and then stumbled again getting the hummingbird feeders down to clean and refill. Both times I did not fall. That made me feel good because I would normally fall. I guess I am getting more balanced. I decided not to try for the 3rd stumble and came into the house.
Vern is doing good this week. I have help every morning and then 5 evenings. They cannot find anyone to do Saturday and Sunday evening. But we manage.
Hope you all had a great Canadian Day. Be safe, happy and healthy.
soon it will be the 4th, and I can imagine all the celebrations. Hope fireworks don't spook many furries. I know they can be ghastly for many. Sending gentle hugs to furries.
The paint for the owl is outdoor paint - acrylic. It says Interior/Exterior, and good for the cement owl. I thought I'd finished the detailing until I walked by the deck and saw the underside of one wing....... yup, a little more to do. lol will have to lay down to see it, and it's sitting on a stool!
Got the eggs. Apparently of the three houses I saw, only the 1st and 3rd are really houses. Not sure what the one in the middle is, but not a house. When I went to the 3rd house, someone was sitting out on the lawn, and she pointed to the Egg House - actually has a sign lol Anyway, got 3 flats of eggs, delivered 2 doz to Pat & Glenn & they're happy. Also gave them some green onions from our garden - boy, they're tall & big!
Morning all,
Lordy Sharon, 105, not a wonder the plants are hanging their heads..
I just put the heat on to take the cjphill out of the air.
Falling is a no no, glad your balance is improving...too bad you don't have weekend help, maybe an agency could help?
Sometimes susan we are looking for something and it's right under our noses!!
Just made coffee, heading downstairs to finish the bookcase then unoack books,by then the workers should be here for the day.
Omg what a mess, will take me forever to find a home for all..I've thrown so much away, can't figure it out, where was everything, surely dividing big area scrap room didn't make the difference..more purging to do
Glad Canadian tire was open As I ran into town and bought another cupboard, guys will put it together for me..should accommodate maybe 6 boxes of things
That's great, Betty! More organization is Always better!
I've just been re-organizing our bathroom cupboards (floor to ceiling). We store boxes of garbage bags in them as well as other things (don't have a medicine cabinet), and it's gotten quite unruly. I took all the garbage bags and tried to sort them. I found a Tupperware container to put them in, so it looks tidier. We re-use the ones that didn't have perishables in them, and they often just get shoved in somewhere. I emptied a cupboard in the kitchen, organized the bags, and now it's "easier" to find stuff. We have SO many different sizes of garbage bags, it's a bit overwhelming to say the least.
I've got to get more organized in the yard, too. Bob did some, but then the hot weather's kicking in and he's become rather sensitive to the heat. I'm a bit more sturdy when it comes to heat, or maybe it's because I take more breaks. Takes me longer because I do, and I'm not as strong as Bob, obviously.
the owl if very cool.
Susan, I have a fabric bag that is semi-closed on top with hanging tab, the bottom is closed with elastic, it hangs in laundry area. We stuff all the bags in there. If it gets too full, I donate the excess to a local thrift store.
DS Kevin & I got the recliner love seat out and on truck. 1 bookcase out with free sign, I have homes for 3 trunks. I have several bags & boxes of stuff sorted to donated, will make one run today.
Kevin and I got one steel shelving unit put together and in place. I need to sort the stuff and load it. I have a 2nd bought but don't know if I'll need it. If not, I'll return it. ugh.
I painted the new backing for 9 cube organized, my sister bought me fabric storage cubes to put in them. Dollar store had them in several colors, i got 5 pink & 4 bright green.
I got an enormous OLD solid oak teacher desk with 6 drawers. I may end up having to cut the legs shorter to get the overall height I need to comfortably sew. Back to work... I have a young man coming to help me later today. I will have him carry out all the donations, help me load the trunks & in general, be my legs. 1 hour $10, MY back and legs thankful!!
I still need to get out, see Dad today, and bring him the maple bar he asked for.
DIL is cooking dinner here in 5 hours so I should get to working!!! I'll check in later.
Lordy we are a bunch of busy gals..when I went to town for the 2nd cabinet I could feel like I so wanted to doze..think I got an hour's rest, going to have a bath then maybe nap again, the rest I can do one box at a time..got to say I've wayyyoo much of everything
Bet I threw out 20 boxes of things and still no room for the rest grrrr
Wish we lived closer too Betty so we could give you a hand.
Betty, I am using an agency. $22 an hour but they probably pay the individual less than half of that. No one tomorrow because they want double time on holidays. We can manage on our own for one day.
My baby brother and his wife came by to say hello. He will be 70 end of August. They have two new golden retriever puppies. They had 3 dogs, all retrievers that died in the last 6 months from old age. I told them they were crazy to get new puppies but they reminded me I did the same thing when I was their age 5 years ago.
While the helper was here this morning, I made a quick run to Trader Jo's. We really like there eggs. I got hotdogs for tomorrow's dinner. Something we usually do not eat, but once a year will not kill us.
I finally have enough canvass bags that I very seldom get plastic bags anymore. I did that because the plastic bags were making me go loony. I have actually used them to stuff tips on square pillows when the stuffing gets old.. But other than that they just piled up in drawers.
My brother told me today my cousin's DH is dying from cancer. It is everywhere. Really nice guy and they have been married forever. His started as breast cancer. He had a lot of pain and thought it was his back. Took forever to find it.
I need to feed the pups, do some hand watering and they try to feed Vern. He says he is not hungry. Maybe buttered popcorn.
Popcorn OK, Rootbeer Float BETTER!! This time of year sometimes I am too tired and hot to eat so a float or bowl of sherbet is dinner, then bed...
I got lots done, LOTS more to do... also going rip out rest of the carpet in stages. I don't have the time, garbage space, etc to do it all at once. I am going to have my DH shorten the desk by cutting the legs down some. I need a sewing machine lower than traditional desk height or my back kills me. I can hardly wait to be done & USE the redone sewing area for the first time.
Happy 4th of July everyone..god bless America.
Sharon, those are big dogs for a couple their age.you
Am sure your cousin is overwhelmed, don't generally hear of men with breast cancer, when I was visiting Joyce in Cincinnati we did a run to tracker joe's..lucky you having one so near by.
Pat, know where you are coming from..tried but wide awake as the work downstairs is playing heavily on my mind..you will so enjoy your new work space.lheighth of machine should ease back problems when sewing.
Happy 4th of July, to all my 'merican friends!! I hope you get to spend the day the way you want to, and your furries aren't upset by all the fireworks!!
spent the day outside - it's getting super hot and by Saturday it's going to be 95F, 35celcius.
Wanted to do what we can, before the weather won't allow us to go out.
Some pics of our garden
Corn, raspberries, potatoes, beets, carrots, kale, garlic, onions, cabbage, broccoli, tomatoes
harvested some garlic, green onions, kale & lettuce for dinner tonight.
Good growth susan, are you on water ban with the heat coming?
We sure haven't had to worry about watering as it rains most days..
Great herbs for cooking. Miss my veggie garden but for one just not worth it.
Seems I'm not the only one who can't sleep
We aren't having a water ban - it rained tonight actually. Rains every 2nd day it seems, almost.
supposed to be 35c on Saturday...... yikes!!
WOW! Looks like you all have sorting to do. Betty, it is hard to believe how much stuff we accumulate through the years.
Beautiful gardens Susan.
Happy 4th of July everyone !
Pat I laughed right out loud when I saw your post about the teacher's desk. I had one too. It came from Queen's University in Kingston. I have no idea how we got it into the house but we had to take the chain saw to it to get it out. I got a much smaller chrome desk from Wayfair.
My Streak crossed the bridge yesterday. My heart just aches. He was Warren's boy. When Warren passed Streak mourned him for weeks. He got so sick he had to stay at the vet for 3 days and nights. Sassy his twin (only 2 in the litter) wailed all night and the TH kept wanting to go downstairs to the room I had placed Streak - so they were up and down the stairs all night. They lived up to their moniker quite well.
Dianne
Awwww Dianne, so sorry for the loss of your fur baby. He was a connection for you to Warren.
Sorry to hear about streak Dianne, great loss losing a furry that Warren thought so much of..are you enjoying your new chair out on the porch today?
Joanne my cousin by marriage list her rooster..rooster arrived at their door morning if funeral of Henri's brother Pete, as cocky as they come and never left..Henri always said it was Pete incarnate and lived that rooster..fox had him for supper yesterday..
Girls left at 1:00, could see I was sooo tired..took a bath and napped on couch..was thinking of going back downstairs but may leave it till tomorrow.
Sorry to hear about Streak Dianne.
Dianne, it is so tough to lose a pet. They so completely own our heart.
The rooster being anybody's incarnate is too funny... but fox dinner? Ouch!
I REALLY wanted to finish the sewing room tonight but I keep getting sidetracked. If I had stayed STRICTLY on task, maybe I could have, but a trip to the thrift store to drop off love seat and 4 bags of stuff. A visit to my Dad (and the grocery store to get the maple bar he wanted). A stop at Home Depot to get the herbicide and some tools I needed (like new skill saw blade to cut the desk legs). Laid on the cement drive and scrubbed with brush & Dawn dish soap to get the grease up and wash off the kitty litter to make it easier for my DH to do some mechanic work this week... I think you see what happened! LOL
I worked for HOURS and I'm not done! It's coming along.... bags of stuff to donate to the quilter who sews for Foster kids, flannel & other supplies for the Days for Girls charity I did a lot of sewing for 2 years ago. Somehow I need to limit my interests! (It's not going to happen so I'd better just accept every few years I'll need to purge and donate).
I'd like to get an hour of weeding done tonight... when it's cooler and I have room in the garbage can.
Ok, back to work for me! I report to the office tomorrow, back to the grind stone but at least it will only be 3 day work week for me! YAHOOOOOooo
So sorry to hear about Streak, Dianne. It's never easy, and with him being Warren's buddy, had to make it doubly hard.
Had good news, my Bonnie finished her Championship. I'll meet up with her handler next month at a show in Ohio, and she can finally come home! I'd like to send her brother out, but I think I might wait a bit before I do that.
Morning all, beautiful day out there, should be enjoying vs working in the basement.but I do want to get at it.
Like you Pat I'm easily distracted, was looking for leaves for my Christmas quilt, looked everywhere and where did I find them, in the little case I added the patterns for each block, right where they should be..oh well, cleaned and organized all my fabric , big job done. Few more boxes in craft rom and I can sew and enjoy your room!
Did the oil come off the drive Pat? You and I are both on a mission, I too must take a run to garbage site and Salvation Army..going stateside Friday so need an empty car
Three cheers for your Bonnie Deb. I'm sure you are looking forward to having her home.
My goodness Pat you sure had a jammed packed weekend. Wow ! Good for you. I often used to say I am going back to work to get a rest. I have no idea how we did as much as we did when we were working but everything got done.
The TH were absolutely horrid yesterday. They wouldn't listen to commands and barked and barked. Diesel nipped 1 of the workers. I am a little uncomfortable around Doug and Diesel senses it. Doug wouldn't show me where the bite was.... I had wanted to put some peroxide on it. Didn't see any blood on his shirt where the bite was supposed to be....... there won't be a problem.
Sassy wailed again for a few hours. Poor thing - I have no idea what to do to comfort her.
The fox and fishers here are really a problem this year. Even with barricades they manage to get into the hen houses and wreck havoc. With the crops doing so poorly this year a lot of the farmers are depending on egg money and their meat chickens.
LK and Sharon are you into the 100's F ? I noticed there were a lot of forest fires your way when I watched abc news last night. Several places especially in Colorado cancelled their fireworks due to the dryness.
I also saw 1 town in Tennesse instead of fireworks lays out yards and yards of bubble wrap and everyone is encouraged to walk on it.
Need to go will BBL
Dianne
Deb, great achievement for Bonnie..can see you doing the happy dance and rightly so..how are you adjusting to the new wheels?
Dianne maybe you could put blanket/toys that Streak liked and it might be enough to stop the crying..like humans furries mourn as well.
Knew if I sat down for a few secs I'd be nodding off..need lunch
As a teenager I got a beagle, Heidi, and a kitten,Buck, the same week, both were the first of the litter to go so they became very bonded to each other. WhenHeidi went to the vet and got spade, Buck was miserable, even climbed the curtains! . When Heidi came home, and laid on the pillow they shared Buck licked and licked Heidi's face to comfort her.
When Heidi was hit by a car and died, Buck mourned so profoundly I thought I'd lose him too. Buck wouldn't eat for days. It is as hard to see a pet mourn as it is to see a child mourn, both are so hard to comfort.
When sailor went over the rainbow bridge I thought I'd lose Missy as well, dog and cat were so close..
Another sleepless night..this damp weather is playing havoc with my bones so I went downstairs and worked for an hour, thennturned in CNN and that is enough to keep me awake!
Must say, fewer boxes remain and I'll soon do happy dance and can get back to playing in the room vs working.
Watching NCIS, going to try and get some sleep, maybe dream of Gibbs lol
so sad to hear about furries passing over the rainbow bridge, and mourning.
I know that Baby mourned her mom (Smokey) for 2 years........ licked the fur off her belly, and wandered the house looking for her mom, crying. She was never quite the same. Don't think she ever got over it, and certainly didn't understand.
Morning all, an 82feels like 95 kind of day today, well at least until later this afternoon then rain rain rain for next 5 days, big sigh!
Debbie hope you are keeping the sunshine days for me tomorrow and Saturday??
So look forward to meeting up with you.
Darlene and John are suppose to come today, I'll be ready for them lol I'd they are here likely I'll not work just play until they decide to help me with hanging a few pictures and decoraticpve cupboards..almost feels like home.
Ziggy is crying, he wants out, no can do right now..I've an outdoor project, maybe he can pkayutside withmp me..if skitters weren't so bad right now I'd get it done now.
I had a water feature that looks like a faux rock made of Fiberglass, the container holding water broke because this gal forgot to empty it so seeing as I have some pool liner left over I've decided to dig a hole and make a garden waterfeature..won't look as nice as the real boulder Joyce and the girls brought me from Cincinnati a few years ago but will do..
That is about it for me..
Are most of you still off or have family visiting re July 4th?? You would have had Monday and Tuesday for right or longer?
Soon time for me to count the days until Roadtrip 2017
What do you have planned for your day?
