Congratulations to the new couple, Judy!!!
lol Bubble wrap...... not ready for that yet
The hospital on Thurs watched me for 2 hours. Today at Three Hills hosp. they asked if I fell between surgery & today.
Did I say something about arm swelling? My mistake - my arm isn't swelling, but my leg was - twice the size of the other, hot, and there was a bubble to the left of incision. It's ok, there is no infection in the knee and I have been taking too few pain meds. Not icing it properly or elevating it enough.
Feeling better now though
Best/Worse/What did I Learn today?visit with friends old/new..join in?
I remember Ben had a special circulating ice pack thing that encased his knee. I was making BIG ice cube in pint plastic in order to have the ice last while I was gone to work. He had it elevating pretty much 24 x 7 unless he was at physical therapy. We had it propped up in bed with pillows.
Congrats to the Alisa and Amy!
Susan, glad to hear your pain is under control, and there is no infection.
Happy for your joy Judy! Congrats to the lucky couple.....
Keep off the leg Susan. You can't rush healing no matter how much you want to do so... Remember that Confucius said "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." Work the leg along with the doctors orders and you will do fine....
Morning everyone,
13f here this morning, frosty by sunny...
turned tv off as it's just too overwhelming and decided to drive into Midland seeing I'm having company for the day to pick up fixings for lunch and of course desert from timmies to go with coffee. They likely won't get here till 10' that heart donut looks mighty yummy, might not make the pick at ten lol
Very well said Barb, slow but sure...
Susan, you are calling home care today?
Judy, great news, can see why you are bubbling with joy
Had a nice visit with Greg, always nice when Mel comes at well, but always welcome a one on one visit.
I was worried when after 30+ years he quit his job in Midland and left to take on a new division with a firm in Barrie, he was an up yesterday and lots to tell me. Job going good, His childhood friend Lloyd whose father was one of the owners but sold his shares a decade ago starts with Greg this morning as well asanother employee. Greg told me that 5 more of Fred hooks. Employees have put in their applications where he now is. Greg told his overseers that he would not be part of the hiring process as he doesn't want to be known as the ex employee who steals business and employees..good for him..two others left and found jobs with companies in same field..he then went on to tell me that the owners son of Fred Hook's in his early 20's got into battle with is dad over them hiring a overseer and losing Greg and other valued employees, dad kicked him out of the house, son went to the factory and trashed the office..boy, talk about turmoil in that company. In just could not believe Lloyd quitting but then I couldn't believe Greg doing so either..
Aren't I chatty today
Donut calling my name..
Glad to hear he is doing good with the new company.
Those donuts look good, I will have the french cruller please?
Our newest great granddaughter was born yesterday morning, Lorelei Leigh, She's generally doing well but has a bit of a problem requiring surgery. A bit of her intestine was out into her cord and has to be repaired. She was transported by ambulance to Children's hospital down state. We too DGS down, weather on this end was blizzard but OK after we were an hour on the road. We didn't get home again until almost 2 AM. Leaving soon to take GD down today, she is just released from hospital today. Baby's surgery is today but we don't know time as she was being fit into the schedule.
Sending prayers Karen, what wonders can be done these days..I'm sure she has the best of surgeons..
Be careful on your drive and make sure you look after yourself and not overdo
Congratulations on the new baby. How many does this make for you?
This is number 17 great grand. She is beautiful, it was awesome being there for her birth. I know i gripe about Stephanie all the time but I must say she is the most stoic person I've ever seen while giving birth. She did want to go to the hospital the night before and I strongly discouraged that. Fortunately they listened. By the time we went in the morning it was only about two hours before Lorelei was here.
What a beautiful name, and she is a beauty!
Congrats Judy, WHO we marry is truly the most important decision we make here on Earth!
Betty, I counted 5 heart donuts, if there is ONLY 4 would anyone notice?? hehehe
Judy a BIG congratulations on the upcoming wedding! I know you will love being part of that....and hope they are sooo happy!
Karen Congratulations on the little one. Prayers and please keep us posted.
Betty, that chocolate heart would not have lasted!!! And is only one...who would know!
Lorelei's surgery is finished, all went very well. Her daddy is with her and we just got mom from hosp. here and are heading down.
This Grammy is anxious to get my hands on her but will be patient...kinda.
Glad to hear surgery went well.
Glad to hear the surgery went well. Prayers being said for little Lorelei.
I am sure that is a big relief Karen. Best wishes to Mom & fam!
Thank the Lord all went well Karen, How long will she be hospitalized..you are a great great grandmother, am sure you so want to be hugging her. Love the name Lorelei ..
Should have bought 1/2 doz of donuts, seems sharpen and Nikki are watching their weight..I had the strawberry cream filled heart and a chocolate donut, Greg said he might drop in tonight, here is hoping so, need to send them home with him otherwise you know who will eat them.
Day went by quickly, was a perfect sunshine day for Sharon to visit..lots on her plate the next month, Westminster then she flies to the islands so it was this week or not.
Going to have early supper then just relax
We know what Karen is doing, how about the rest of you.
Lorelei Leigh - what a lovely name! Pictures, please, Grammy :-)
Very glad the surgery went well. I agree - it's amazing what surgeons can do nowadays!
I'm feeling much much better today. With swelling down, so is pain, and being on the correct pain meds taken at the right time helps too.
Bob got the first of our cheques today, so I will be paying bills that are long overdue. Nice to have this under control - very happy about it.
It is nice to hear a smile in your post Susan.
Congratulations Karen!!! #17 is amazing. I will keep her in my prayers.
Betty, did you save the fritter for me? Do they still make Dutchies?
Must get the breathing machine done....
Just another day in Paradise for me. My day off so I was at the bank signing paperwork for the Durable power of attorney. Found out the teller who took Ben's Credit card away from me, deposited the $1,000 in the SAVING account instead of against the credit card. I was livid, especially since they were having trouble finding WHERE it did get posted since it wasn't against the credit card!!
'Why would any teller think you wanted the money deposited in a saving account when you passed the CREDIT CARD to them??? ARrrrrrrggggggg.
Todays mostly about cutting wood and gathering the paperwork I need. I got the stripped screws out of my headboard project and I'm working on more of the home projects, bedroom shelf, head board & a stand to set our printers on. Mine is on the shelf top of the roll top desk. Ben's on a 2 drawer file cabinet. I want to make a platform with "cleats" to keep if ON the roll top desk, and add a platform to store the spare paper and ink cartridges in with the printers. The goal to eliminate the 2 drawer file cabinet and shift furniture around so Ben can navigate and access everything in this room when (if?) he gets home. Right now a bookcase is in the corner, past his secretary drop down desk and he can't reach anything on it. Todays mostly was about cutting wood and gathering the paperwork I need.
Just bought a 3 drawer dresser to use as a night stand. Slow progress... One area of the house is a DISASTER... I have been stacking all the boxes of empty canning jars, getting them ready to take out to the shed along with a bunch of other stuff we won't be needing for a while.
Thank you, Barb - yes, a smile in my post indeed. I think today was a "turn-the corner day" for me as well with my knee finally getting better.
Tomorrow's bill paying day, but I won't be getting out to Crafting though. A skiff of snow, covering ice - too treacherous for me to think of going out just yet.
I slept on the couch & bed quite a bit today. Kept drifting off. Guess I needed it. Bob, too. He was sleeping a lot today
Morning all,
Already been to foodland,-13c but clear, girls will be coming over this morning, had forgotten to get perk coffee but ended up with an entire push cart, Lordy how could ne person alone need so many groceries?
Susan, good news for sure you getting the extra funds and feeling better..you both will now get extra $$$ monthly right, will help out substantially and take worry off your shoulders, the move and rebuilding den had to cost mega $$
Pat, keep praying you will have a better day but it's taking a long time..will come one day soon though..you are taking on so many projects, am sure it's nervous energy at work.
Yes Barb, kept it just for you..girls will eat the others, they love treats lol
Had a better night's sleep last night - only one break and went back to sleep right away. May have had a set back yesterday - couldn't get off the loveseat, so Bob took ahold of both my hands, and I bounded up onto my feet. Now my knee is swollen a bit more and having pain & a bit of trouble bending. Icing helps
I was up at 4:00 and fought to get back to sleep. Up and down since. Finally having some coffee and watching the snow fall. Is cold like you Betty and snow moving in.
Susan I agree with the others, nice to have a smile in your post...and soon it will be a bounce in your step too.
Karen I saw some of the photos on FB She is a beautiful little bundle for sure! Be safe with the driving and enjoy.
Pat Hope your day goes smoothly.
Barb did you get any of the snow over the weekend? Sure is pretty from the window but I went out and filled the feeders and quite a bite in it with the wind. I usually know when a heavy storm is coming because the birds go on a feeding frenzy. All the feeders were near empty!!! Took a few biscuits I had from dinner last night...put peanut butter on them....and the birds are loving it.
Here is a couple with the new camera. Apparently I just have a short distance lens....so need to consider if I keep this...another major purchase for a lens! Grrr.
Girls just left,
What a gorgeous day out there, sun is shinning, will take as many of these days as the good Lord wants to send my way but yes Debbie, calling for storms our way over next several days
Just love your photo's, look at that Cardinal, I too must go put out food, haven't so far this winter with everything going on but should do even if it's just the feeder on front deck.you are getting used to your new camera, a keeper then?
Susan, going to take some time..rest-rest-rest?
Ann came in for a bit, getting ready for Toronto, Addy is getting tonsils out on Thursday, sure hope no problems, so she is on her way to the city.
Pat is working on mastectomy arm pillows, she did foundations and now will make outer casing
June wanted me to put her 'This Is Canada' quilt together, nope, told her I'd help her, she did all the block so not going to have me do it..don't mind quilting it but not putting top together, she was hesitant but thanked me when she left for having mDe her do it herself..she did about 1/3 of it
Betty that is best way to learn....hands on.
Still on the fence with the camera. Had it on "automatic" and went out as was a huge squirrel in feeder. It wouldn't take the shot. Tried several times different settings and then the squirrel scampered off. My friend says I was not in range for the lens so it refused. I do NOT want to carry to cameras with me everywhere!
Don't you love toys that think the are smarter than you..I loved all your photo's and they were taken with regular camera right? Perhaps you need to go to the store and have them teach you about the quirks.
Hello!
Wow, lots going on!
Thank You about Alissa. We are pretty excited.
Most likely I won't be involved in the wedding plans and that's quite ok,lol.
You know I have a special place in my heart for Alissa. I am so proud of her!!
Oh Karen, so very happy for you Congratulations on sweet 17. Baby Lorelei is just beautiful. So glad the surgery was a success!
...so smiling, I was so glad to meet You and Linda Kay as well. I must say
Getting to meet almost all of my DG family has been fabulous but always an added bonus, I got meet a special part of your families as well. While in Michigan I got to meet Linda Kays Dad who sang You are My Sunshine for me: well, us and any time I see deer in the fields I think of him, and smile.
When I went to California, I met Liz's mom, sister and nephew. What can I say I love her mom...she's adorable.
Well geeze another thing on my very long list of to do...get some writing going!
Yep just love meeting everyone and got to meet Deb right here at my house! She was my Santa Warren for 2015! That was so neat...
Also Debbie came with Betty while Liz and Kenny were here, lol that was thier joyride thru the corn fields excursion!
Anyway, sorry have been in a crazy going down memory lane kick...Think it has to do with my birthday in 11 days? OMG hitting the double 5, lol...the speed limit we teased Mumma....That isn't so crazy, I am trying very hard to keep my health in pretty good shape. One day I was in land of day dream and suddenly realized I need to get in better shape, so I can play with my Grand baby. Hahaha, sure am having fun day dreaming tho...
Speaking of little one's Barbara, how is Brandon and your grand egg doing??
LOL, Breenie did the baby class in high school. LOL, we had such a ball with my grand egg her class had to build a baby out of flour, with the egg in the head!
Well I hope he and you all had fun with the experience as well.
..wink, wink got to meet Barbara and Norm when we travelled to Boston...LOL the meeting of toothless grins began.
Awe of Debbie, got to see you again at Betty's gathering. Think of you every time I have an RC, winks and smiles...But first what kind of camera did you get?
As far as animal photo's try setting you camera to the sports feature, because of the movement, it may help, that's for the auto feature. Also, does your camera have a button on the base no it may be on the lens itself? a slider that moves your camera from manual to auto and vise versa. Also remember if you switch to manual then you have to do all the settings as you would any other manual camera,..then you set your shutter speed to a faster speed .it may be why your manual photo's don't come out...just a few suggestions.
OK...If you want to take only one camera, then invest in a lens that you can zoom relatively far for lets say squirrels in a tree across the yard and yet focus on something sort of close range.
I do and have gone bonkers with changing lenses back and forth. But is doable,
and it takes lost of practice but it's fun and worth the aggrevation, hahah-hows that for a contradiction! Good luck and have fun!
oh wordiegirdie over here, lol...be back in a bit!
You have me smiling and a big laugh as well..
So many memories with many of you, visited Judy I think 3 times, met her family, taught Liz what a Cracker Barrel was lol. Still amazes me sometimes how we cherish our on line friends as much as local friends and some times more..spend time with you all daily.
Judy, no doubt in my mind you will be a living grandma.
Drats, bought kettle not too long ago and not working...Grrr guess I'll have to boil water in a pot for hot chocolate..still a few donuts hmmmm what will become of them
Soon bedtime right
Judy, Thank you! Yes..do have the little button for manual/auto up front by the lens. Just have to learn them ALL. I think the problem with the manual setting is....I see blurry no matter what...because of my eyes. SO....I shall not give up.
I got a Canon Rebel T5i EOS 700D with Stm kit? The lens is 18mm to 55mm. Don't ask me what all that means yet. haha The problem is....the instruction book is 396 pages!!! I found some videos on YouTube that help me a bit. Slow and steady!!!
Loved the memories!!! So many great ones. Yes RC....the TOWEL joke....someones MOUSE tattoo. The list is LONG. Coffee with Barb & Norm
Sister gathering at Bessie Lous!
Ok is snowing again and Sam wants out RIGHT NOW!
Look near the pole...you see the bluejay flying off with peanut
Sweet dreams
I feel the same way, we are all Dg family. Someday I wish to meet all of you.
Nice shots Debbie.
thank you - have been resting more
feel foolish - when there was a better way to get up from couch I didn't think of it. Bob braced himself, offered his hands, and I "bounced" up and jarred my both legs. This was 2 days ago, and now I'm paying the price. Threw me back several days, and I hear a "click" sound in my new knee...... oooooops.
Now, I will just use my walker to brace myself - should have thought of that in the first place, but will blame all the drugs on my thoughtlessness
Just keep doing your exercises Susan, make that knee move. You will be ok.
Love the Blue Jay pics Debbie.
Hmmm Bessie Lou is missing this morning.
Linda & Karen, thank you. A work in progress with this. But I am enjoying when I get the good ones. 3 out of 40. lol
Susan if that clicking keeps up.....make a call and just ask. Better safe than sorry.
I woke with a headache so nursing a cup of coffee. All critters fed...here and half the neighborhood came to visit.
Debbie
Betty posted and made a new thread for her sewing group.
I hope you are feeling better soon Debbie.
Thank you I think might have to do with all the white and finally sunshine.
We hit 32f for first time in a week I think.
Good Morning...
Was going to come back and visit but then hubby came home early!
We had a nice hot tub soak, dinner and watched Hawaii 5-O...
While I am completely caught up, dh is so far behind in the shows, so I watch them again, lol half the time fall asleep in the chair.
Ah Susan, yikes do take it easy on yourself...Allow yourself to heal.
...still going through DG memory, I even got to meet you via Betty's Laptop when she had a conference, lol I forgot what that's called...
But anyway, I have a picture somewhere of Betty showing you her gardens.
Yeppers DG has made it possible for us to meet, Wow, I remember going to my first round up in Wisconsin, lol I was so, so nervous, then it was off to Texas for my very first Sistah Gathering...MAN oh Man was that a Ball, and I cried when came to an end...And of Course Meeting Liz and Betty here at my house.
So Yep I sure do miss you all. Karen I remember back then, same as you, wished to meet everyone and well big cheers and happy smiles...
So yes, yes Maybe we can all meet up in Michigan again, that would be fun.
This time I won't be sick!! I loved it, took a train and Linda Kay picked me up. Then I stayed with her for couple nights and we had such a fabulous time!
Pat, sounds like your making pretty good progress. glad you got the stripped screws out..had to laugh about the stud finder, only because I had the same problem just recently. I'm just not certain exaclty where it finds the stud, I mean is it ded center or is it left or right...well hands on the hips, I gave up and "made" dh find the thing and mount my tv. So my point is have a friend come help you, you don't want heavy shelving to come down. LOL, I got to tell ya, I do have a better appreciation for construction, yikes I was exhausted after hanging a small shelf to entrance wall, hahah.
The one person, I would still love to meet is Bonnie, Defoe.
She was actually my very first DG friend and I even wrote about her to my mom.
Part of my journals are letters to those family members who have passed on.
and that one is from 2005 is actually when I joined DG and back then I mostly lurked around. until 2007 when I Spotted BEST, Worst and Learned...
And I was really sorry to have never met Shar in person, came close once.
I do miss her stories...
Alright, so working hard on the re-make of Jo,jo's baby blanket. I am in process of cutting the fabric into usable pieces. I'd like to uses as much of the original material as possible...Got to say, it's very weird to do, lol only because it not brand new material..So, I washed and iron dried it to get majority of the wrinkles, I'm cutting the pieces into workable 7.5 blocks, that's because the hand embroidered pieces are that size. So now, I am designing 2 additional embroidered blocks to sort of balance it better. And then my fun begins, I want to see just what this baby "machine" can do...lol, you should here me talk about it as I discover things.
you know, I haven't sewn button holes in years and years...my old machine button holer contraption was the biggest pain in the butt, but this one, OMG, OMG tell machine what to do and push a button, it automatically sews and stops when its finished, pffftting happily I don't even need to stand there, what a discovery AND don't you know I sewed three button holes and good gosh, it actually sews the button on!! Well that one I have to figure out how to tie it off...but it sure was fastenating!! lol get it, buttons/fastening...
Oh and speaking of fascinating, Karen, I just love your new Ironing Pad you and DH made!! Wow and good for you it's beautiful.....
Betty, you do know your suppose to be resting right?
Oh man, I sure hope I get my laptop back soon. I have so many pictures to go through and I do miss it terrible. I don't want to be bugging David but I am getting anxious. Oh man, so I wend through 2 boxes in my closet and still no manuscript, geesh, I hope I didn't get so mad at myself and throw it away, but I don't think so...I vaguely remember boxing it thinking some day I'll get back to it. Hmm well there are still 2 more boxes and I still have to deal with the shelves.
...Well, remember I was looking for that one Book.lol I found it...Sabrina had in her books, lol she said it was the first story she recalled my reading to her that the story unfolded. OMG, told her I had searched everywhere that book, so glad I didn't donate off.
Talk about rambling, lol my fingers have been going for a while.so I'll be quiet now...lol
What you all doing?
Better say morning before it turns afternoon..been up since 5am, my bed partner Ziggy thought I should be up, now he is laying sleeping and I'm wide awake..should wake him but he would get into projects I'm working on..
Yes Judy I am resting, just playing with cut outs, can't get into miscjhied doing that lol
Cut August block out for the Baltimore Christmas quilt, got fixings out to work on the paper doll quilt, anxious to get it done so I can follow suit like Pat and make clothing.
I will have to post to show you some of the embellishments and supplies for her tutu
I met Bonnie and Shar while on our ROADTRIP to your house, spent the night at Bonnie's, met her hubby and her son that passed away a year or so ago, the night at Shar's we were out sightseeing when a tornado hit right Debbie, that was quite the trip. Why are you having to redo Jo Jo's baby quilt? Fantastic news about the baby book, amazing what we find when cleaning corners ..nice to see you enjoying your new sewing machine...love Hawaii Five O but love NCIS New Orleans better..I so want to go back there but maybe soend a week vs the 3 days I always spend there. Maybe next Christmas I'll encourage darken and John to go with me.
Debbie, light flurries here...so enjoying the photo's..bet when weather breaks Niagara Falls will be seeing you.
How is Lorelei Karen?
Susan, can tell you are getting antsy, you are sure to have problems if you don't watch your every move for a bit.
Took out homemade soup container from the freezer, hankering for Kentucky fried chicken, if it's not stormy might take a run into midland to purchase a kettle and pick up a dinner..don't you hate cravings
Here is the placement of my little moll, she is about 28-30" in length..going to do ending in the draft quarter packages I've had for ions, didn't like them as I wanted pink and they and more coral..will do for the blanket though..have to cut the shoes and decide what color hair will be, do I want 2 ponytails or one on the side?? Guess for first one it really doesn't matter..
Judy you would LOVE Bonnie (Defoe). She is just a pure soul and love her dearly.
And the horses and area she lives is so peaceful and beautiful. Betty and I still talk about the sandwich we had at a little diner down her way....best club sammich ever! haha
